So many places take advantage of women because we dont know what to ask or whats going on under the hood, but these guys treated me so well. I highly recommend their services.

Their honesty is remarkable. They will tell you exactly whats wrong with your car and will try their best to fix it-- no tricks or shady business. Theyre not slack with their work either. They work on it until its fixed and if they are unable to fix it, they will tell you and will tell you why. It took me almost 2 weeks to get the car back. Thats not bad at all, considering the fact that the car was supposed to be worked on over a year ago. And despite the fact that they get a lot of business, itll seem as if your car is the only one there because they will routinely call you and give you daily updates on the car. You dont have to call them to check up on the vehicle. My car runs better than it did before. I was a little disappointed to see that my low-beam light hadnt been replaced, but I didnt specifically ask for which beam I wanted to get replaced. However, they did replace the high beams, gave me an extra key, and installed an entirely new light system in my car. They didnt charge me at all for the light that they replaced, so five stars has to be given either way. As long as youre patient and trust them to get the job done, you dont have to worry about anything with this auto shop.

This place is the real deal!! Honestly, the crew at bender menders saved my day!! I was visiting from out of town and had some major car troubles. These guys came recommended from my Airbnb host and Im SO glad because they were everything youd want from an auto repair shop, and so much more!!As a woman, its quite nerve-wracking to visit a new mechanic, as so many men in this field of work have a history of taking advantage of us, making us feel like the helpless and naive -- fortunately, these guys are so far from that!!Since my car had a mystery bag of problems lurking inside, I spoke with many of the mechanics there over the 2 days. Each one of them were extremely friendly, honest, caring and hardworking. And, they collectively worked their magic to get my car working better than before.Seriously, what a breath of fresh air! Let them handle my Jeep hoping it would be a easy fix. NOPE! They literally kept my car for 2 weeks and literally got it back in the same condition. Not to mention while trying to “fix” it they knicked my brake which I aslo have to get fix now. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!

Highly recommend this team of experts!! Yesterday my door locking mechanism broke so my driver door would not close and I had to strap it closed to drive to get my kids picked up. 3yrs ago I went to Shane very upset about my car being hit in the back from a wreck!! I was not in the best mood but he assured he would get the job done. He fixed my car and did a great job! Yrs later i am back and even through such a rough period Shane was very honest with me about the condition my vehicle was in. He lower the price of diagnostic test and told me to think hard before investing any more money into my vehicle at this moment bc it may not be worth it. They had a shell 240sx that I wanted and made me a great deal on it. And still after I had bought it , they gave me many part for the car that I need to help with the repairs. Great group of guy to go out of the way to satisfy a gearhead like me.

Not a good place to take your car at all. No customer service skills. They will beat you out of money too. They took custom parts and lie like they cant find them. Its all good though.

These guys are my Christmas miracle, I swear. About a month ago I went to Midas for an oil change and was told I needed new motor mounts and itd be about $650; which was not financially possible for me at the time. My car started shaking really bad yesterday and I figured this was my motor mounts about to go and resigned myself to the huge bill I was gonna have to pay.Well, I decided to call Engine Menders and see what they said. Turns out it was a completely different issue causing the shaking and the motor mounts were fine. They fixed the problem and I walked away with a bill under $170. I also had an issue with one of my seatbelts while strapping my kids carseats back in and they took the time, even though they had already technically closed, to fix it for me.These guys are honest, reliable, kind and really did a great job!

Shane and the staff at Engine Menders are very nice and knowlaknowled about car body repair. On the 14th of March my wifes car was involved in a hit and run accident and I was recommended to EM by my insurance agent. I am new to the Columbia area and didnt know who to trust. I went to get an estimate and was very pleased not only by the staff but Shane himself. The work was authorized and completed within a week. The whole right side of the car was damaged but when we got it back you couldnt tell the car was even in an accident. Dont judge a book by the cover judge by the work quality that comes out. Shane and engine Menders will be my go-to place for all the work I will need in the future.

This place is amazing, staff is over the top friendly AND courteous, and the work was done right the first time!I was referred here by a friend after being involved in a hit and run and then wrecking the car myself backing into my mailbox. Shane worked with me to drop my car off at my convenience, fixed the hit and run damage, as well as the damage that I caused, AND replaced my battery (which I had forgotten that I was even having problems with when I dropped it off) and my bill was less than the estimate I had gotten from another body shop, meaning that all of the work was covered by the insurance claim from the hit and run!!!!!After all of that, they asked me to bring it back a month late (after rainy season here was over, because he felt bad that they didnt wash and buff the car after doing all that work!I would recommend this place to EVERYONE and ANYONE! They are very patient, down to earth, and honest. It was nice to have this kind of service, rather than a mechanic who test to take advantage of you because you are a single mother! This is my new mechanic for sure!

OK, this is going to be a long review, but these guys are TOTALLY worth it, so here goes. This is a no frills shop. I personally dont care if there is free coffee and ESPN on in the lobby because that means I am paying for it in my bill on the end. It is what you expect from a mechanic shop. Everyone I met or spoke to was courteous and knowledgeable and all answered my MANY questions (I drove Shane crazy with questions, even though he wont admit I did). Shane sourced the best and cheapest place for the parts I needed, and my bill was less, not more, than he quoted. Let me state we have a 2008 Ford F150 which is problematic, to say the least (Google it, god knows its a horrible year for bugs on this truck), and none of the MANY other shops we took it to would listen when I said, by the way, the wheel is wobbling. 5 shops (including some very big chain stores) have said it is fine , can you take a look? Lo and behold, we had a bent axle. Potential for a dangerous accident as well as thousands of dollars in rear end damage, and they saw it and fixed it. They fixed MY screw up (I wont be washing that engine again), and did it all with a smile. Shane called me and kept me updated at every turn. That alone is priceless. Dont you hate it when the shop has your vehicle that you NEED and they say theyll call and they dont, and then you have to call them and they act like its a inconvenience to them? Well, that didnt happen here. All in all, I LOVE these guys, and they have my business as long as they are in business and I will recommend them until I am blue in the face. Engine Menders - an Honest Take.If youre reading this right now, theres a 99.9% chance something has gone wrong with your car - most people dont spend their free time perusing mechanic reviews for the hell of it. Theres probably a glug, glug, glug coming from the hood of your car, or a squeak, ba-da squeak in the tires, or maybe even a swug, swvoom in the engine. If, like me, your method of describing your cars malady involves borrowing onomatopoeia from Dr. Seuss books, dont panic! Engine Menders is for you.I know virtually nothing about cars, but Ryan (my coworker) is a bit of an amateur mechanic. So naturally, when my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan began to leak coolant, I started talking car with him in hopes of obtaining the know-how needed to perform a quick (and cheap) DIY fix. Unfortunately, I didnt understand a thing he said (though occasionally Id throw around words like heater core, transmission, and RPM to feign a baseline competency of automobiles (thanks Wikihow).It wasnt long before I decided I needed to take my vehicle to a mechanic. Ryan was quick to suggest Engine Menders, and so I dropped the dad-mobile off after work. I was not disappointed. I spoke directly to Shane (the owner) and told him about the leaking coolant. His employees diagnosed my car in 15 minutes and informed me it was necessary to leave the van overnight so they could work on it. At 11:00 a.m. (the next day) my van was completely repaired...11:00 a.m.! Thats typically when mechanics call you to say we think we know whats wrong with your car (before they call you in another hour or so to say we found something else).Engine Menders replaced my radiator, water pump, hosing, and fixed some electrical features in record time for a fair price. I have paid franchised mechanics more to fudge with some spark plugs and replace a battery! Shanes staff was friendly, honest, professional and (perhaps most importantly) genuinely happy to be there. Generally, when I dont know much about a particular business, I resort to reading the faces of those in its employ. Do they look as if the only reason theyre not killing me is because theyve misplaced the wrench? Do they resemble a beat dog on one of those ASPCA commercials (Sarah Mclachlan playing Arms of an Angel softly in the background)? Or do they want to be there? One can tell working on engines isnt their plan C, its their passion; and if the chef is happy, he probably wont spit in your food.I have since driven my van to VA and back with no issues, and hope to be the proud owner of a bad-ass minivan for a couple more years (disclaimer: a dodge 2005 minivan is a chick-repellant, but Im married, so who cares?). I cannot recommend Engine Menders enough. It is, bar none, the best experience Ive ever had with any mechanic thus far. I cannot sing the praises of Shane (the owner) and his guys enough! The people at Engine Menders are true professionals. I had to have some engine work done to my Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, and was sent over by the Firestone down the street (the mechanic at Firestone told me he was afraid to attempt to do the work, but he told me that Engine Menders was his go-to recommendation for complicated engine work-- yes, ANOTHER garage highly recommended them). Let me tell you, I will never go to any of those chain stores again after I found this hidden gem.When I stopped by, Shane personally talked to me, and knew right away that what I was describing could be fixed with a tune up. In fact, one of their specialties is F-body cars (Firebirds and Camaros)--Shane himself even drives a killer Firebird Trans Am. When I mentioned I needed some body work done, as well, and that another shop had suggested the car might be totaled, Shane laughed and assured me that there was no way that it was totaled--he could fix my bodywork for well under what the other places were quoting.The engine and body work was done quickly and absolutely perfectly, and not only was Shane always available, but his staff (which includes his wife, who is also great) went above and beyond. The guys at Engine Menders are honest, clear, and beyond friendly-- they treat you like family. If youve ever had work done to your car, honestly, clarity, and friendliness are not the usual words you might use to describe the mechanics, but they dont begin to describe the people at Engine Menders. In fact, when I swung by to pick up my car after the engine work was done (I brought it back the next day for the body work), the other lady in the waiting room and I were offered breakfast by Shane and the crew-- what other business offers to buy you breakfast as if its no problem?Furthermore, Shane personally offered me a ride home the next day when I dropped off the car for the body work. What other garage would offer service anywhere near that? The only reason I didnt accept was because I had my dog with me and we live within 15 minutes walking distance, and we needed to get our morning walk in. In fact, Shane even stopped me from tying my dog up outside-- Bring her in! he said. The place, on top of everything, is dog friendly.To sum up, if you have ANY issue with your vehicle, whether it be mechanical or body-related, take it to Engine Menders. They are fair, HONEST, clear, and offer discounts to military and students. If youre looking for performance upgrades or just basic maintenance on your daily driver, this is the place to go. I honestly cant say enough great things about this place or the people who work there. Dont just take my word for it-- look at any of the other reviews on the web. When I first googled this place, I thought it was too good to be true, because I didnt see a single mediocre or negative review, but trust me, this place is the real deal.
