I have lived here for about 2 years. All I can say is I wish I had lived here earlier and I am sad I must move due to a new job. This is the best place I have rented from thus far. The property and apartments are well-maintained. It’s in a beautiful location with quiet and friendly neighbors. The amenities are awesome. I feel safe here and the rent is well worth the peace of mind. The management company is very attentive, responsive and friendly. There are local food trucks almost weekly,. If I ever moved back to the area I would definitely live here again.

My husband and I have lived at Jefferson Ridge for over 3 years now, and we love it here. We are extremely happy with our apartment! Our upstairs one bedroom apartment has a cathedral ceiling and a fireplace that makes the place feel bigger and adds so much charm! The huge windows in the living room and bedroom make the apartment feel bright. The kitchen is definitely on the small side, but it’s really never an issue for us.The community is amazing for pet owners! Plenty of grass and sidewalks for walking our dogs and a good-sized dog park. All of the amenities here are well-maintained. Maintenance and management have always been friendly and responsive. Also, management recently started inviting food trucks to the property which has been awesome! The location is perfect. Very safe, quiet area and less than 10 minutes to wegmans, I-64, Starbucks, Alamo movie theater, and only about a 15 minute drive to downtown. Highly recommend!

I moved to VA a little over a year ago. Rents here, in general, tend to be high. Jefferson Ridge is a good value. There is a selection of sizes and layouts. Some have wood burning fireplaces. The buildings are two-story and the property has rolling hills and is beautifully landscaped. Two fenced playgrounds, basketball court, beach volleyball and tennis court, pool and nice gym. But for me, the best part is how pet friendly the complex is. They even have a dog park for tenants. Many people have dogs and are really friendly. It is more like living in a neighborhood, like when I lived in Philly, without the crowding. But shopping, UVA, hiking and Shenandoah Park are very close-by. My bedroom wall is a big sliding glass patio door. The first thing I see are trees, deer, rabbits, lots of birds, and the Blue Ridge. If something breaks, you can request service on the website and they have come out really quickly. I really like it here!

Jefferson Ridge has been my favorite place to live out of owned homes and plenty of rentals spanning multiple states. The apartments are so quiet. It’s very rare that you hear a neighbor. After 21 months, I am still just as happy here as I was in the beginning. The grounds are lovely and there’s plenty of space for everyone to get out and still follow social distancing. Pets are encouraged as we have a nice private dog park and disposal bags are already readily available. The recent management change has made things even better. I never even saw or received an email from the prior manager, but Gary is very hands on and not a week goes by that he doesn’t reach out with updates about maintenance, distancing guidelines for the pool or gym, or alternative methods for Halloween. He schedules food trucks in a safe manner every week so that we can support local businesses while also providing a sense of normalcy and caring for the residents. He asks our opinions when he’s considering a new idea for the community; he keeps us abreast of issues (like people breaking into the basketball court) and how he’s handling it.Maintenance is super responsive and we are on a first name basis with all of them. Any problem, whether it’s your AC or a wasp nest outside the door, you can expect them within a few hours.Living here is such a stress free experience. I appreciate the no smoking rule for the entire community. It does get broken occasionally, but if you’re able to report it, management handles it immediately and stresses to everyone again that the entire community is smoke free. Which is great if you suffer from asthma or allergies! We also have a beautiful view!

We lived here for almost five years, and have always enjoyed it. The apartments are in good condition, the grounds are kept up well (and theres a great dog park), and maintenance was always prompt. Unfortunately my wife and I had to move out early, but management has always been reasonable and was more than willing to meet us halfway. Definitely recommend.

I have rented at Jefferson Ridge for 8 years and it is the finest apartment community I have ever lived in. A wonderful non smoking community with beautiful grounds and the most responsive management staff. The maintenance people are particularly great and keep the property clean and running smoothly. A request for maintenance is often completed within an hour. Forget renting anywhere else, Jefferson Ridge is the best choice!Steve Fenig

Jefferson Ridge has been a great place to live, I mostly enjoyed the pool, garden-sized tub, and ample storage space - for reference I had a one bedroom, one bathroom, and den unit. The staff has always been very helpful and kind and maintenance is always quick to come when a request is put in. I love the location because there are a lot of walking trails nearby, and it is so close to Wegmans and 64. The only drawbacks have been the small kitchen and that the balcony doesn’t receive a whole lot of sunlight. I’ve really appreciated food truck Thursday’s and the super fast Ting Internet! Sad to be leaving Jefferson Ridge but grateful to have lived in such a nice community!

I was apprehensive about apartment living and Jefferson Ridge Apartments have exceeded any expectation I may have had. When I moved in, the apartment was so clean, I actually put my cleaning gear away and proceeded to move in. The place has a beautiful view of the mountains as well. The staff is exceptionally helpful and professional. I hosted a bridal brunch at the clubhouse (which was so nice as well) and they bent over backwards to move furniture etc to accommodate our needs. The guests commented on the fabulous clubhouse and how nice the apartments looked. The staff here are always ready and willing to help with anything. It is a quiet, happy, safe environment and always clean. It has been a very positive experience.

I cannot say enough good things about Jefferson Ridge, but Im going to try! The management staff is the best Ive ever worked with; theyre easy to deal with and fair, and they handle with requests and problems quickly and appropriately. Maintenance in the community is great; they really go above and beyond, like when they plow the neighborhood when it snows (seriously road in JR are better then the public roads). All my maintenance requests were addressed within 1-2 business days. The community has nice amenities (I love the pool) and is very dog friendly. The apartments themselves are sunny, and very spacious. Youre really getting the most for your money. Its also very ideal having your own entrance and plenty of parking (even for guests). I literally have 0 complaints. If you have a chance to live at Jefferson Ridge, you should take it, you wont regret it!

My husband and I have lived in Jefferson Ridge for three years now and have had a wonderful experience! We moved from the Richmond area where we owned our own home so going back to apartment living was something we were nervous about. The staff is very helpful and maintenance requests are always taken care of in a timely manner. I would say the only downside is that it is a little pricey but we look forward to staying for at least a couple more years!

My wife and I have lived here with our infant son for about 6 months now. Its been the best apartment Ive lived in, and Ive lived in many. It is a little pricey, but worth it. Management is competent, the premises are clean, the community is quiet, and the people are friendly. Every time Ive had a maintenance concern, it has been addressed within one business day.

I wish that I could give Jefferson Ridge zero stars. I lived in Jefferson Ridge when I was in law school from 2011-2014 and absolutely loved it. The apartments were updated with nice amenities and the staff was awesome, from maintenance to management. I moved for work and then moved back to the Charlottesville area in 2017 and because I had enjoyed living in Jefferson Ridge so much in the past, happily moved back. I found that the rent was quite a bit higher than it was when I was in school (to be fair, thats to be expected with all of the recent growth in the Charlottesville area) and was happy to pay it given my past experience. The apartment was pretty outdated when I moved in but I was fine with it. It was then that things started not to work. My water heater leaked and maintenance, while very nice and responsive, had trouble figuring out the issue with it and fixing it. They ultimately fixed it after several attempts. The kitchen was really outdated when I moved in and the appliances were hit or miss to put it nicely. Again, I didnt complain, so shame on me for trying to grin and bear it. The apartment was on the second floor and it had a lot of trouble cooling in the summer. The apartment was frequently at 75-78 degrees despite the AC being set to 67. I had maintenance out to check the AC unit, which they said was fine, and I dropped the issue (the request to maintenance was made through text and not the portal--not sure that should make a difference though). Again, in hindsight, trying to be low maintenance and a chill tenant was a poor choice on my part. Dont even get me started on the prior manager, Angie. Truly immature and incompetent. The staff is all plenty nice but the quality of the apartments and management team has decreased tremendously and is not even recognizable now. Be prepared to be charged a significant fee if you have to end the lease early (I bought a home and had to end the lease about 6 months early, to which I received no flexibility despite being a long-term tenant). I found that disappointing given that I always paid timely, didnt complain and had in total from living there in school and moving back, been at the complex for almost 5 years. The terms regarding breaking a lease are in the contract--so read them very carefully in advance if you think you may have to end the lease early. They offer 3 options for breaking a lease early, all of which are expensive when compared to what I have seen in other similar residential leases. Overall, a very poor experience and I would not recommend Jefferson Ridge to anyone, which is unfortunate because it used to be a great place to live.

When I first moved to Jefferson Ridge, we loved it. However, management changed during our lease term, and things quickly went down hill. The new management lacks flexibility, and is incredibly unreasonable. Breaking a lease (regardless of how much notice you give) is painful to say the least. If you work night shift, dont plan on getting any sleep during the day. Current management will send out an email ten minutes before people are suppose to come into your home for maintenance, and give no notice when doing outdoor repairs, such as sidewalk repairs. The lawn care is put off as long as possible, and is quite an eyesore if you plan on having anyone visiting. In regards to price, there are cheaper options in the area with similar or better amenities. I went from always recommending this complex to warning all my coworkers and friends from signing a lease.

I lived at JR from 2012 - 2017. I would probably still be living there if they didn’t hire the new manager “Angie Orr” at the time. This was the most unprofessional woman I’ve ever delt with.I was amazed that she was in charge of anything more than a lemonade stand. She threatened to have my cars towed off the property because she thought my state inspection was expired. Little did she know the car she was looking at with the expired inspection didn’t even belong to me. The best part was her car was out of inspectionion for over two months when she was accusing me of the same thing..I’m not sure if she is still the maanager or not because I moved out immediately after dealing with her.I would think twice about living at any property she manages.
