I brought my wife’s car here for some tires after a competitor we had scheduled with had no staff. The staff was very helpful initially, and we were told they could get to my wife’s car before close and to leave it. At 3:30pm I received a call that the car is finished and ready to pickup. I said I would be there in 30-40 minutes and was asked to come right away as they were trying to close early. We got the vehicle home and realized they put the wrong size tires. We also noticed the car was pulling to the right fairly hard, despite paying for an alignment with the new tires. We did not receive an alignment printout like you should when one is done. I contacted the store online, since they were closed, to inform them of the mistake and expected a call Monday. When I didn’t receive a call by 10, I called and explained and the associate said if I could get there in 30 minutes, they’d take care of it. Both my wife and I were at work so that was no way possible. I asked the associate about a return policy or if they would price match and she was unaware and said I would have to speak to the manager which she was hesitant to do. I expected the manager to call me anyway, so I asked to speak with him and was told he was in meetings all day. I asked for him to call me and waited till the next day around Noon, when I finally decided to call corporate to ask them. Corporate told me they would have the manager call me the next day or to call them back. The manager never called, I called corporate, they never answered and had to leave a voicemail during work hours. I expected corporate to call me back by noon the following day, which they never did, and I had to call threaten to look into alternative options to resolve the issues. 20 minutes later I received a call from the store manager. I asked him about a return policy or price match and he was unaware and said we don’t do returns and we can give you the tires you bought. I asked about the printout and about the alignment and he simply said the printer is down. No apology, explanation or customer service in any way. To this point I really had tried to be understanding and tolerant. I decided to call corporate again, partially to get an actual answer on a return or price match and partially because I was beginning to rethink this particular store touching our vehicle again. Corporate said they leave those decisions to the area manager and he would be calling me that day. He never called. We are now actually having to looking into alternative measures to resolve this. I was not trying to get anything for free or take advantage of the situation. I was simply curious about a return policy since we had not even received the product we paid for or even simpler if they could just match the Amazon price which was a little over $200 cheaper for the exact same tires and services with the exact same store. I also expected some explanation for the alignment. I have worked on vehicles for years and I am no expert but pulling 4 ft in a 100ft stretch immediately after install means it wasn’t aligned. I would NOT let this store and potentially this company touch your vehicle.

Great experience. The woman at the desk (I apologize I don’t remember your name!) was on top of it! She was ready for us when we got there, helped keep my kids happy, and even gave my kids her own Culver’s coupons. Car was fixed in a good amount of time, everyone was nice. Great experience, highly recommend for car repair.

Ive used the Neil St. store for oil changes for years on all my vehicles without a problem until now. The last time I had my oil change in , the service personell was rude, and nonchalant not concerning my request, and seemingly unknowrledgeable about the oil products at the store. My car is not due for another oil change for a month, yet my oil light came on and when I checked the car the reservoir was bone dry. This could have resulted in my engine failing. I am extremely frustrated with the customer service I received, with the current employees.

I had flat tire, so I booked online appointment and presented to the store at time, but the girl at the desk refused to have my car checked and said she did not have my name although I showed here the email I got from the store to confirm my request. I asked her how long to have my flat tire fixed, she answered a week from now so I left and found another place where I got the tire repaired in 20 min

I brought a 2013 mini cooper paceman to Car X, on a Saturday, not knowing what was wrong with it. Angel was knowledgeable, welcoming and reassuring. The mechanics stayed after hours to diagnose and repair my car. They definitely went the extra mile in service and skill. I couldnt have had a better first time experience with Car X. Im from out of town here for work and dropped off my truck at 10am for an oil change and brake check, I was told they would get it done same day but were busy at the time. After no word all day at 5:15pm I called for a status update and was told they would get with the technician and they would call me with an update. 6:15, and 6:30 I tried calling again and no answer either time. Taking your customers vehicles with false commitments and not communicating with them is not an acceptable way to run a business at all!

Very bad experience. I have the problem with breaker light on, it is a sensor problem. But they only change other things in the car like light and exhaust. They charge me for $900 first and then call me for another $200. That is not the worst problem, they ask me to go the dealer 100 miles away to fix the breaker light. I search YouTube to find the way out, it only need to tight one small thing and it is solved. Before I solve the problem, I smell something burning on the way to home but I do not care too much since they told me it works well in their trial drive. Actually, my setting of parking breaker is changed and can not be off. So I drive home with that on (it is without brake light on the car to let me know). When I went to Walmart auto center for finding the problem, they told me it is the parking breaker problem (it does not exist before my repairing in this carx) and I can not drive and wait for towing now. In summary, I spent $1100 to fix something not important and they break another part of my car and further break my tires.I found their record of my brakes and it is all OK. But why parking brake can not be off when driving. I guess they do some mistake after checking my brakes and the car is very dangerous to drive. When I picked the car, heavy rain influences my judgement (my home not too far away from their shop). I do not know how they say they had done a trial driving of my car, but I think it is not a long distance. Now the car is fully crashed after I drives to Walmart. They should pay the towing fee and the fee to fix my brakes.

I bought my car to Car-X in savoy. They have had it for 16 days and they were supposed to be done by the first. Now I have to wait til the 3rd. It does not take 16 days for them to fix what they needed to. They first tried to charge 1,800 for what they were fixing even though that was WAY too much. They brought it down to $1000 which we thought was appropriate. But after calling OReilys and Auto Zone we found out they overcharged us $800!!! Who in the world? I would not recommend Car-X in savoy. They ripped us off when they knew we were struggling to make the ends meet because the mother is on disability and barely makes a enough as it is to last us all month. Now after we paid them, we barely are making it by. Any other Car X Ive never had a problem with but the one in Savoy is not a good choice.

I had an issue with my suspension. Without doing anything, they charged me 70 for inspecting what is happening. I did not end up repairing here since the quote they gave is much more expensive than somewhere else. And they forced me to make a quick decision and threated to charge more if the decision is not made up quickly. Never gonna come again.

Got tires here once. I got a rebate and they lasted a long time. I also got free rotations from buying tires there (not sure if that is still policy). No complaints. Sometimes it takes a while when waiting for service.

I knew exactly what was wrong with my vehicle (02 sensor needed replaced) and all I wanted was for that problem to be addressed. The person I spoke with still insisted I pay $130 for a diagnostic fee. I made clear that I understood the diagnostic is to make sure they address the right problem but I was sure of my problem and just wanted that addressed. Furthermore, I made clear that I wouldnt hold it against them if I was wrong and replacing the part I wanted replaced DIDNT fix my problem. He still insisted on the diagnostic fee, and when I refused he got incredibly unpleasant and tried to browbeat me into agreeing until it was clear I would rather walk than pay the fee.The repair itself was delayed several days, which was not a huge deal because I have a second car, but it would have been a major inconvenience if I just had the one car. They didnt notify me of the delay until the next business day.All of this would have docked a star or two, but the biggest contributor to my 1-star review is that, despite everything, I was grossly overcharged for the services that were done. They charged a couple hundred more to replace an 02 sensor than my research suggested was typical, and they added on two cryptic miscellaneous charges for a total of $90 on top off that. It feels like they purposefully gouged me to make up for the diagnostic fee I wasnt willing to pay.From everything I can tell, the work they did was good. But the combination of poor customer service, lack of communication, and dishonest price gouging means I am never taking my car there again, and I would recommend the same to anyone else who asks.

I had a tire blow last night, called CarX this morning and Matt was very helpful and was able to match the tire and put it on the rim in 30 minutes. He even offered to make sure the lugnuts were all on tight. 5 stars!

Service was great, no complaints there. But clerk was wearing his covid mask around his chin, nose and mouth both exposed. Improper, unprofessional, and against franchise policy as stated on the website and the sign on the door. Also, maybe 1 of the garage mechanics were wearing a mask. Seriously. Just wear a mask (properly). Or else well still be doing this in 2021.

I had an eleven o’clock appointment for an oil change. I was asked if I wanted to wait and I said no since the employee who was helping me did not have a mask on and a lady sitting in the small waiting room also was not wearing a mask. At 2:15 I called and was told my car was not done but it was next. At 3:15 I went to pick up my car and was told by the same maskless employee who I left the car with that it was still not done but was “next”. I asked for my keys and left.

I took my truck in with AC problems. I told them I thought it was the compressor, which is a pricy fix, but they found out it was just the valve, which is much less. They were fast even though they were short staffed. I’ll be returning with my future car problems.

Great group of guys that work here, always very pleasant and helpful. This location stays busy so if you need work done make an appointment. I have bought tires here, suspension work, light bulb changes, oil changes air added to tires just to name a few. They are thorough and even remind you if your license plate is close to expiring.

Wish I could give them zero stars. I pulled in just before 5 pm tonight because I had a coat hanger in my front driver side tire. I live out of town and asked if they could please plug it or sell me a tire. He said he couldnt help me.. his guys all leave at 5, (they are open until 5:30). I asked if he thought it would be safe to drive home.. (interstate...). He said, no.. still wouldnt help me. 3 employees all hanging out in the parking lot. Looks like getting off early on a Friday night when youre open until 5:30 takes priority over a potential customers safety. Drove 3.5 miles to Midas. They stayed open for me.

I brought my 2005 Cadillac to the car X on Bradley in Champaign, for a clunking noise I heard from car. Because I am very inexperienced with cars I was told on two different occasions that the problem was a list of different things. The first time I paid $700 for work that didn’t stop the noise. And the second time I paid $800 for work that didn’t stop the noise. And the guy drove my car around with me in it just to completely assure me that he knew what it was. And still ended up being wrong. In total I paid about $1500 in work and all I needed was oil because the engine had none! I am completely done with Car X! Disgusted

Customer service poor with constantly changing management. They were unable to diagnose a problem after several months of work and were unwilling to work on it after a period of time. Management at multiple levels failed to follow-up when they indicated they would, and at one point picked up my car to learn it had been damaged in their care which they would jot admit to. If you have a problem with your car, try Peter Bs in Urbana.

Scheduling a week out so don’t bother dropping in.Avoid for oil changes, Jiffy Lube just up the street is much faster and provides better service.Ensure you get confirmation of your service appointment. I arrived and they had no record of the appointment. Without even an apology the manager made no accommodation to help find another time that worked.

These guys are awesome! We have used them for our car repair needs for a very long time. Unlike some shops, they will give you a list of repairs you could do, and then help you understand what ones you really need, and give you the choice to delay others. They have saved me money because with them on my side, I can feel confident in owning older used cars and know I can keep them running. I would rather pay these guys than have the new-car payment!

When I started going to Car-X I thought it was good. Nice people, good prices, and they could take me to work if I needed it. Now, Ill never return to Car-X. I few months ago I had a wheel bearing replaced and I asked them to look it over and see what work my car needed. I was given as estimate over nearly $2,000, with the #1 priority being my fan clutch and the second being a tie-rod. I decided to wait until I had the money, since it was going to be nearly $700 just for the fan clutch. This morning I went to leave for work and heard a weird noise coming from my tire. Figuring it was probably the tie-rod, I went home and called the nearest auto repair place in town (I live out of C-U). I went to take my car to the auto place and it wouldnt budge, so I called the place to come and TOW MY CAR. They called me later to let me know that not only was the tie-rod HORRIBLE, my strut had become detached because of it. I was then told that if I had tried to drive my car this morning I most likely would have been in a horrible accident because of this.Now did Car-X tell me that the tie-rod was horrible and needed to replaced immediately? NO! And why didnt they tell me? Because they wouldnt have gotten that much money compared to the fan clutch.So, now Im left paying for my tie-rod, struts, alignment, AND towing charges. I will NEVER, EVER take my car back to Car-X and will make sure to tell anyone I know to never take their car their.

Expensive. While waiting for my brake repair I checked prices online compared to the invoice I was given. $30+ differences on almost all parts. While I understand places need to make money- that increased my bill by quite a bit. When I left, my Tire Pressure Warning light came on instantly. (wasnt on before!) Called and they do that pass the blame thing - said, you probably picked something up Grrr Why are people like this?

Ive been bringing all my cars here since 2010 when Parm owned it. Took one of my cars here for an oil change today and they called me to tell me both my license plate lights were out. Funny as how they were changed recently. Told them I didnt want them replaced. After I picked up my car I noticed they are both working. Now I am wondering if youre going to be dishonest about something I CAN SEE what are you saying I need that I cant see...Not interested in talking to customer service just wanting fellow customers to be aware. Sad day when you cant trust a company youve been loyal to.

I always get the best from Car-X! The prices have always been great and they even have a price match guarantee. Rob, the store manager, told me if another shop is cheaper just get an invoice from that location and bring it in and they will match it!The techs here always give me a thorough run down of whats going on with my car and explain what they did and what needs to be done to maintain my car. And the techs are ASE certified! The store has a frame of all ASE certified techs and their certificate which has the what they are certified in and when it expires. I thought that was pretty cool!Love the waiting area. There is coffee and popcorn and they even have WIFI so I wasnt bored out of my mind waiting for my oil change to be done.If you need any mechanical work done, I recommend Car-X! They have never steered me wrong :)

A one star is actually too high for this place if I could I would give it a negative 5 star.Last week I took my jeep into this location for an intermittent starting problem and a radiator flush.They kept my jeep for two days and were unable to find or get the jeep to act up even after I told them what to do they did complete the radiator flush I pick the jeep up on Thursday from them after work. Within a day I was using the environmental controls in the jeep for heat in the morning simply because I take my wife to work early and it was cold air was blowing cold air while in defrost mode on Saturday.I took the Jeep back to them on Saturday and told them about the problem and they had it corrected so they thought they told me it was an air pocket in the radiator. That repair seemed to work fine until this morning when again I left for my job earlier than normal and it was blowing cold air again. I went in and spoke with the gentleman at the front I was not happy about this, I explained to him that I was not going to leave until my jeep is fixed and it was going to be fixed at their cost. He then proceeded to tell me they could not guarantee that and I told him I dont care what you can guarantee and want you cant guarantee it was working fine before you did a radiator flush on it and now it is broken and I wanted it fixed I also told him that I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau as well as his corporate office and that I would be posting a review on yelp about this shop.At 7:40 AM this morning they got the jeep in and they diagnosed it as a bad heater core, now my question is when it was in on Saturday for the same issue why didnt they diagnosed it then as a bad heater core it was the same mechanic they had looked at it on Saturday.I then made a couple phone calls and decided to take it out to one of their other competitors where I spoke with the general manager both on the phone and in person and he assured me that he would get my jeep and looked bad and if it all possible fixed he understood that I work out of my jeep and my tools are in it. Im very happy that I took it to the competitor not only was the jeep able to get diagnosed properly but I was also able to be fixed in less than six hours which is an amazing job to complete.I will not be coming back here to this location for even a simple oil change the gentleman at the front desk seems cocky And a little arrogant in my opinion.Even the experts at Midas find it hard to believe that a heater core and now the water pump have gone out within a week of each other and they both need to be replaced. They are wondering if they possibly used an acid to flush out the radiator or another solution that would eat the parts and the seals I have used Muretic acid before to remove graffiti from concrete and I can tell you personally that I know its effects .When I called their corporate office today to let him know how displeased I was with the service that I had received and the fact that I am still having problems from their radiator coolant flush on my truck I was essentially told that they are not responsible for anything and that my truck is close to 100,000 miles which is not completely true it did over 97,000 miles on it at the time and currently has a little over 98,000 miles on it.I would not encourage anyone to do any kind of business with this company or this specific location.

Please avoid this shop. There are far more reputable and honest mechanics than the individuals operating this place. I was hesitant to review this business because I spoke to the manager and called corporate, and received no help.So, here is the story. I received a coupon for an oil change and thought, $19.99 seems like a good price, but what it cost me in the end was not worth it. The day after the oil change there was oil everywhere in my garage. I called Car X and explained what occurred and they immediately said it wasn’t something they did, but they would be willing to look at it. This seemed suspect, and to immediately deny wrong doing is a red flag. These mechanics were the individuals who had worked on my car. Before returning, I had another mechanic assess the issue and was told, “This is an easy fix. Who ever changed your oil last, stripped the screw from your oil pan and cracked it. Go back to them and tell them what happened, they should be honest and fix their mistake.”I returned and told the manager what I discovered, and he said, “It wasn’t us. You need to go back to the people who changed your oil before Car X. They cracked your pan.” I said, “The last mechanic who worked on my car was the Lexus dealer! I then drove over 100 miles after the oil change and another 4800 miles before coming to you. If there was an issue with my oil it would have happened before making it to you. I would have had oil on my garage floor months ago.” The manager stood by his original claim and rudely refused to fix it.I explained that I would call corporate, and he said, “Go right ahead. They’re not going to do anything!” He was right about one thing, corporate never responded, and it cost a few hundred dollars to get it fixed.Do yourself a favor and GO TO ANOTHER SHOP!

I took my mothers car here to get a transmission flush. After the flush the transmission was shifting oddly, and didnt think to much of it as they said after you get a flush it may take some time for things to settle. Well a few weeks later it was still doing it. I took it to the dealership, and they told me that the transmission plug had been stripped, and there was something in the coolant, and they were not sure how carx had done the flush on this car in the first place as they have they same tools as the dealership. Basically in short, i talked to someone at the store and gave them my receipts, called customer service and left messages 3 times before i was called back. A manager calls me takes my info, never calls back. Another manager calls me takes my info and never calls me back. I told them i didnt want to discuss exactly was wrong with what they did as i didnt want to get caught in a word trap, and they should call the dealership whom documented the whole thing. Btw after i spent 500$ at the dealer to fix the problem they caused, there is a noticeable difference. I wouldnt take my car here if i was you.

Brought my car in for what I thought was a front alignment problem. They took it out and examined it and gave me an accurate diagnosis of what the real issue was- a bad front right tire. Robby at CARX worked on my 1994 3000GT which had been sitting at my dad’s home for the better part of a decade. Needless to say, it needed some serious TLC. Not only were the repairs/services conducted within two days (parts were ordered) of being dropped off for less than the estimate but I was able to drive to VA the following day with no issues then or afterwards.It was pretty impressive to get that level of service, at that price point, on a car over 20 years old!Thanks Robby!!

I called and ordered a car battery on a Saturday, they said it would be in on the following Tuesday. And they would call me. Here it is Thursday and still haven’t received a call. I’ve been trying to contact them since Tuesday by phone , they answer and automatically put me on hold for at least 45 minutes each time so I hang up. Needless to say they just lost my business to Advanced Auto Parts do to their poor Customer Service Actions! Simply Put, I would give them a Zero Rating if I that option!

I agree with the other person. I wish I could give them zero stars! These people are awful!! Came in to have my breaks checked b/c they werent working and they broke apart the bolts and lug nuts that keep the tires and rims together and attached to my car to check the breaks, but then tried to charge me 500$ for the break job as well as my rims/tires which THEY had screwed up. They said it wasnt their fault that it broke, I called in a mechanic relative of mine who argued with them, and then they refused to fix it because he argued. We ended up taking the car to Midas on University and they fixed everything for under 60$. Screw you guys. If you dont know what youre doing, these people will try to take FULL advantage of you and make up all kinds of stories to try to charge you for anything and everything they can.

Went to car x to get my a/c checked out on my car, as it was not cooling. When I went to pick up my car they told me the a/c lines were rusted out and a junction box at the back of the car was to. They said it was going to be 1600 dollars. First the lines are aluminium and dont rust. Next all that was wrong was a faulty high pressure junction. I ended up paying only 300 dollars to get it fix at a different place. Do your homework folks, and you will not get ripped off by shady businesses.

$25 to ram two strings through my tire, lose the valve cap and inflated to the wrong pressure was a little too much to pay. Staff was pleasant and they got the job done by the time they said they would, they just didnt call when it was finished as I had asked them to.
