Merlin Carpentersville is the only place I will ever visit - Ive never had a good experience anywhere else. The guys there are so kind and patient. I visited this morning for a wheel alignment after being in just last week for an oil change. Jose has been awesome in helping to explain the problems with my car and figuring out how to get everything done in a safe, affordable manner. I really appreciate how above and beyond they go.

Tries to squeeze in as many appointments as possible without the care necessary to complete the job. They forgot to change my air filter then called me to comeback. One guy got impatient because I was trying to get a confirmation of time for them to complete the job and they made it seem like I was the problem even though I called and made an appointment, but let me be late then its a big deal but they think 10-15 mins after my scheduled time it okay. Bottomline dont accept people if you cannot accommodate them. This probably wont change much but maybe one other person debating where to go will think twice about this place, especially if youre not a local. Treated locals like royalty and me like a nuisance. Next time just dont schedule me...simple.

Had to find a new place for oil change and service. Very impressed with the customer service and prices. Would recommend Firestone to everyone I know. Great people and great work.

Ive went to this location for oil changes but i recently had problems with my car leaking trans oil so i bought my car in to get seen and i was told i needed to get a new trans line because thats where the oil was leaking from ok i pay for that i get my car back 3 days later id leaking again and also my car is slipping gears they tell me that if its still slipping to see a transmission specialists i take my car to another place. Remind you before i bought it to merlins that was not happening so i go to this other place they specialize is transmission they tell me my trans is completely gone. Moral of the story dnt waste your money going here because they givr you false info to get money never going back here

What a terrible treatment I spoke to find out if I could take my car and I asked him if he spoke Spanish because I have a little difficulty in English and nothing else he hung up on me he did not say anything so that makes me think that if they do treat people like They will deal with the car, I suppose it was a manager who answered me, they have a mega 0, I would not recommend them to anyone.

Very very rude i dont think i even got a greeting or HI walking in the door, the dude looked grumpy and very poor hygiene ( this guy was not a mechanic) i felt like a burden walking in asking for an oil change, the look on this guys face looked like he wanted to snap any second, before i could finish my sentence the guy says KEYS? i hand him the keys and he just slams it in on the clipboard and squints his eyes at me..... i dont know what i did ?? its like walking on eggshells geeze all i wanted was an oil change i didnt mean to rub someone the wrong way... i understand we all have bad days and things can get hectic at times but please dont take it out on your paying customers... because of this incident i will be doing my oil changes from home from now on . anything else ill go elsewhere i dont like the vibe here.

My Family and I have been customers for years now. Never had a problem until January 5th, 2021. The wonderful gentleman I spoke with over the phone, helped me set up my appointment, and gave me a quote of: $118.99 plus tax for both oil change and radiator flush. (He specified the cost for each service as: $29.99 for oil change and $89.00 for radiator flush plus tax). As Ive done prior everytime I bring my car, I went inside towards the counter and first of all this very Rude guy cant even say hi and abruptly asks: What are you here for? I told him about my appointment, he grabbed my car keys and almost immediately after he parked my car inside their work area, he came out and said my radiator had a pooling leak. I asked: Can I see where its leaking from? He almost didnt even let me finish my question and replied: NO. To that I said: Can you then do the oil change only, please? He absolutely hated this lady asking him that. After he was done, he said I owed him $45 and change. I asked him: What about the $29.99 oiI change price I was told by (name of the Gentleman Ive spoken with over the phone) when I scheduled my appointment? He very coldly repeated to me twice: The price is $45 and change. I said: No. Im paying what I was quoted over the phone. and he very haughtily added: Well, you know what? IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT TO PAY THEN GO AHEAD AND PAY THAT!!! Im a lady customer of this place and have been for years, but this is the Very First time Ive been disrespected and bullied. He said his name was: JASON. Oh, by the way, after I got home that day I decided to put a clean towel under my car where the radiator and engine are for a total of 24 hours and then I checked. Guess what? There was absolutely no fluid leaks of any kind.

They were friendly, efficient, and made sure to keep me informed of everything going on and every way I could possibly save money while still keeping my car in top shape!

They take good care of you and your vehicle when you take your car to them to be fixed on they do good work

I am a long-time customer of Merlin and wouldn’t trust taking my car anywhere else. Luis and Jason are always friendly, helpful and willing to answer any questions I have even if the questions seem dumb. They take care of their customers. I appreciate the hard work of the employees/mechanics as well. They are equally as important. Merlin’s prices are reasonable, service is awesome and I never feel like an inconvenience when bringing my car in for an issue or routine service.

Honest shop!My car was towed from Huntley Ford. Merlin said it was only a hose clamp on my radiator and repaired it. Huntley Ford said it was an entire radiator and hoses that needed to be replaced for $1000.0.

Great place. These guys took care of a problem a different Merlins shop caused to my car free of charge. Ive been coming back ever since. Their service is quick and precise and their prices are reasonable. Luis the owner is a great guy and hires only the best mechanics to work at his shop. If you want quality service, come here.

The guys in the shop did an amazing job with my breaks. I feel safe driving knowing I can trust their work. I made it clear to the service Manager John I didnt know much about cars, he went beyond measures to make sure I was satisfied with the work done (to my car) and knew every step of the way what they were going to do for me. My car is running smooth and Ill be back just for his kind customer service and knowledgeable well trained staff

I have been coming to this shop for almost 2 years now and I have no complaints whatsoever. The owner is a very friendly and respectable man, and I can tell he wants the best for his customers. Never have I felt like I was taken advantage of price wise, like I have at other mechanic shops. I will continue to use this location for as long as I’m in the area. On top of quick service, the customer service is equally as good. I’ve always felt like I’m treated as more than just a customer.

Took my 2006 Chevy Suburban for a failed emission test, updated me with all that needed to be fixed, not only did they fix the emission issues but also took my Suburban in to the emission test, to make sure it passed, they went above and beyond and I would highly recommend.

This shop has a great attitude and takes pride in their work. As cars pulled into their lot, I heard them quickly chatting about each one, seeming interested in meeting their customers needs. When I left with my finished vehicle, I took it for a test ride to make sure the work was good and came back. One of the techs zipped out of the office and asked me, Is everything ok Mr. Fox? I told him why I was back and he asked me again, So did your test drive go ok? These questions represent a great customer service attitude. I brought the car to this Merlin because I called five other shops in the area to ask them to do something to my car, most of which would not call me back. This Merlin was the only shop that seemed to know what I was talking about and they performed the service work at reasonable cost. They even squeezed me in before a holiday because I really needed my car. Win.

I consistently go here whenever I have car problems or need my car checked out. I once thought I needed brakes and came in, only to be told that my brake pads had plenty of life! They also are consistently the lowest price when I get estimates on car repairs. Their honesty has earned a lifelong dedicated customer!

I changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars, because the issue was resolved from the same manager named Luis, but in elgin. I went to elgin merlins for help with the issue that happened at carpentersville and he was very apologetic and seemed to be very concerned with my issue. He wanted to resolve the issue, so he kept the car over the weekend and found the leak and replaced the bad part, he went out of his way didnt want to charge me... respect.

Got my oil change done really fast, in and out. Costumer satisfied :)

THEY TOOK MY CAR FOR A JOY RIDE I GOT PICTURES TO PROVE IT AND DIDNT EVEN FIX MY PROBLEM WITH MY LIGHTS. THEY CHARGED ME $540 AND ONLY GAVE ME $197 BACK. THEY ALSO BROKE MY DAMN SPEAKERS I GOT PICTURES TO SHOW PROOF OF THAT TOO, I WANT SOMEONE TO REIMBURSE ME IN FULL! BUT I HOPE SOMEONE GETS BACK AT ME FOR THIS BS. THE MANAGER LUIS DIDNT WANNA DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I WAISTED MORE THAN A THOUSAND DOLLARS HERE AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER I HAVE ALL MY RECIEPTS TO PROVE IT, AND THIS IS ABSOLUTELY PREPOSTEROUS. Ive been going there for a while since this Merlin is my dads favorite place, every time I go there the owner Ran him self takes care of any problem I have immediately and with the best prices plus if the work is minor he wont even charge me, I recommend Merlin in Algonquin to everyone I know because Im sure they will be extremely satisfied.

Weve lived in the area for over 15 years and began using Merlins for several of our family cars. Im not sure what happened throughout the years but my husband began using another shop. (NTB)Last week I took our car in for a oil change at NTB per husband and learned we had not 1 but 2 broken brake lines. Apparently the 2nd line broke upon inspection. Their quoted price was $631.86 and my husband freaked out! After several phone calls and a lot of pacing I called Merlin which is .06 miles away, was quoted $300-350, I arranged a tow truck, NTB didnt want to release the car in its condition (p.s. Petes tow cost me $83!! - will never use them again) and in the end, final cost was $271.53 at Merlin.Both Luis and Mike at Merlin were professional, honest and have made definite return customers for our family.As consumers we ask for honesty when it comes to things we cant do on our own and Merlin delivered. Thanks!
