Bissonette Properties has been amazing and we are so excited to move into our new apartment! They were super responsive and helpful in assisting us with any questions we had about the apartment. Lauren helped us find a unit that met all of our needs and made us feel extremely comfortable signing on a place that we were unable to see due to Covid. They made the signing process easy and have continued to be helpful even after our lease was signed! My boyfriend and I are moving into a unit in June. The process of renting the unit was very smooth with Lauren, as well as accommodating when other units fell through, patient, and was very nice overall. We love the pet friendly aspect and are excited to move in! Also, the video of the virtual tours of the units are very good and detailed. When there wasnt video I would ask if there was one and I always got a quick response back!

Comparing my rent and quality of apartment to my friends living in Burlington is wild. My apartment is updated, clean and in such good condition in comparison. And somehow I’m still paying less than many of my friends living in the same area. I’ve lived in so many burlington apartments and living in a Bissonette apartment has by far been the best experience. I mean they aren’t perfect obviously, but they are nice, responsive, and it’s been really good living here. Also their pet rent is very affordable!

I have enjoyed my apartment that I share with my boyfriend and a friend! That being said, there was an extra person fee of $200/month which is a bit excessive since we definitely don’t use $200 more in trash and water each month, and so it’s actually just an excuse to charge you more. I am not renewing my lease because I found a more affordable (and new) apartment for my boyfriend and I but I did appreciate how nice this apartment has been in terms of cleanliness. It’s clearly been renovated in the last 6 years or so and it’s at a good location (near the waterfront, Church St., and a little bit of a walk away from UVM). The rental price is a little high to begin with, especially with the utilities you have to cover on your own, but unfortunately that’s how most of Burlington operates for rentals.

It can definitely be daunting to try and find an apartment during a pandemic while living in a different state, but Lauren made the process just about painless. She was knowledgeable about the units themselves as well as public transportation, and her responsiveness helped ease any stress. Ive only seen the apartment via virtual tour, but Im very excited to move in!

We have lived in a Bissonette owned property for a year and a half and have loved it. Very responsive, flexible, always helpful! We have 2 large dogs and they have always been accommodating to what comes with having them and issues that may come up. Always respectful and have zero complaints. Highly recommend!

Pet friendly! Nicely renovated up to date apartments with nice wood floors, most with W/D in unit. Easy to file macitence requests and get in touch with the folks in the office (except Sunday). Also very helpful in finding a new apartment into at the end of leases. Be sure to get an idea of the parking as some driveways are stacked parking.

This is our second year in our Bissonette apartment and we love it! My favorite part is how quick they are to respond to any need we may have. This has been my most comfortable renting experience in over 10 years of rentals.

I have been living in an apartment rented by Bissonettes for the past year and I have been loving it! It was a new renovation so there were some minor issues to figure out, but they fixed them fairly quick and have always responded to my concerns. They are pet friendly, which was one of the reasons I love renting with them. I moved in off season, without seeing the unit in person and they were extremely helpful and helped my find and move in fairly quick.

I love living in the apartment I am renting from Bissonette properties. The hardwood floors and upscale bathrooms are great for the price that I am paying. They were very responsive on the parking situation that we had in our lot. My apartment had trouble with the dryer since we moved in and it still works off and on. We had a pest problem and unfortunately they do not cover for the cost of hiring an exterminator. Other than that it is a nice place to live.

Nice, well kept units and they respond to issues faster than most other landlords Ive had in the area. Rent is above average for the apartment sizes and they really kill you with all the admin fees each year. But overall you get what you pay for with Bissonette.

My fiancé, dog, and I decided to make the move from Philly to Vermont now that we have the ability to work from home. We started our apartment search in early January and came across many Bissonette Properties. We opened up the conversation and were helped SO MUCH by Addy! She communicated with us via text message (which we preferred and over a whole month while we found the right space for us) to quickly answer any questions we had and informed us of property availability when told her what we were searching for. We have never signed a lease for an apartment without seeing it in person first, but we definitely trusted Bissonette Properties and Addy to give us the real laydown of the property via photos, video, and through the many questions we asked. We are looking forward to moving in June 1st and are hopeful for the relationship we will have with them over the course of our tenancy!

This is my second year renting with BP and whenever we’ve needed anything they have always been pretty quick to respond! We had a problem with our heat not turning on this past fall, and they were able to send someone out the same day to fix it, which was awesome. I appreciate how responsive they are!

I worked with Lauren on getting an apartment- my current landlord was upset with me, and lied to the company about him evicting me. Due to Laurens quick action, I was still able to get the apartment. Their apartments are expensive but the best quality you will get downtown. Ill update once Ive moved in and lived there.

This is our second year renting from Bissonette Properties. This company offers good quality units for good prices throughout Burlington Vermont. They helped us find our second apartment before we had to move out of our first one and were great at showing us places that had everything we asked for! I have developed a relationship with Lauren there, and she has been great throughout the past two years helping with maintenance requests as well as general questions and concerns. When she isn’t around everyone else in the office is just as pleasant and happy to help as she is! I truly believe that Bissonette Properties is the best renting option in the Burlington area. Moving at any point can be stressful but when you are looking to relocate to a new state, during a pandemic it tends to make the situation even more chaotic. Bissonette made it super easy for me by offering a video tour and sharing photos and measurements. My apartment is exactly if not better than what I expected, and was very clean when I moved in. The team is very responsive and available to tenants via email, phone, and text.

My friends and I had an awful rental experience working with Bissonette Properties. They are untrustworthy. Not genuine. They say the right words but dont care about the human beings who reside in their properties.Also, why do they have 78 reviews when other property management places like Fusion and Five Seasons have under 20 reviews? No, theyre not a bigger company. Its easy to spot when reviews are fake: Note how many 5-star reviews are from accounts with only one review... They even cook their review books. This is NOT a good culture to work with, theyre sharks.

Read yelp reviews to get a better sense of peoples experience with Lauren and Bissonette - there are more stories and examples posted there that give a sense on how Bissonette does business. They are very sketch in their dealings. Will be nice to you when theyre trying to get the deal done, but when its all said and done, they are all about getting your deposit and in an us-vs-them dynamic with tenants. They have a horrible reputation for being very salesy and disingenuous. - . They run a high-volume churn and burn business that preys on the desperation of college students: demanding we give 9-months notice, high deposits, and when we complain or push back - they simply state everything is policy. If you have other options, then strongly recommend you go elsewhere - use these guys only if youre desperate.

Wish I was able to post photos on here because I would love to share a couple pics of our first day in our unit. One was of my foot that turned black after walking around barefoot for an hour. Another of the front door that fell off the first day there. Mostly stayed with them because we had an unreliable car at the time - so glad to be moving on!Update: just wanted to update this to let you know Bissonette did not replace the carpet at all. In fact my partner and I spent our own money and time cleaning up their mess. Don’t forget to take a lot of pics if you move in with these people.

Everyone that works there in the office is kind and willing to help in anyway possible. I send all my friends to them when they are looking for a place. I just recently renewed my lease with Bissonete Properties and everything has been super smooth!! The apartment itself is a beautiful studio. The only reason I wouldn’t give them a 5 star is because the parking is alittle inconvenient. It’s first come first serve tenant only but sometimes I get home from work very late and there will be a few cars without passes and not everyone on the on call staff really seem to care about towing. But I pay a lot of money so it can be frustrating when I have to park on the street. But the actual renting part has been great :) super friendly staff as well!!

Avoid Bissonette at all costs!!! My roommates and I have been having problems with out hot water for the last few months and the management at Bissonette has been completely unwilling to resolve the issue. They initially didnt even believe us that something was wrong, but after multiple visits from the plumber, they partially fixed the problem. When we contacted them to let them know we were still having issues they waited TWO WEEKS to contact their plumber and have hm give us a visit. Another few weeks later, after messaging them multiple times to check in and find out what was taking so long, the plumber finally came again. He claimed to not be able to find anything but told me point blank that he was going to do everything he could to fix the issue and that he would contact the manufacturer of our water heater to get their input. He was much more open and less rude/dismissive than the initial times he had visited us, where he didnt even believe us that something was wrong. After not hearing from him or management for a few weeks, I contacted them again to find out what the status was, and they informed us that the plumber found nothing wrong and wouldnt be pursuing the issue further. They even lied to me and said one of my roommates told them nothing was wrong with the hot water, which I know isnt true. Bissonettes behavior is completely outrageous. Be warned that if you rent from them things are unlikely to be fixed and you will be treated disrespectfully and have your issues dismissed.

The overall property on Mary St was great. The Bissonette team was great as well, but the lease that you sign is another matter. The contract is written so that you must move out 5-6 early, and that time is not prorated... so you pay for 5-6 days.... but do not have a place to live. This was not explained to us, as we lost hundreds of dollars because of it. For this reason alone, i give them a 2 out of 5. In hind sight i realize that some landlords do this, but honestly doesnt feel like it should be legal.

Myself and a couple roommates moved to one of there properties from out of state. Upon arrival it was absolutely filthy. Nobody had attempted to clean it before we showed up. We were told it would take a few days to get a cleaning crew out. Instead we had to clean our own apartment to make it suitable for living. The stay there after was sub par. You won’t get what you pay for. And upon move out we provided pictures of move in vs move out and they still continued to charge us for extra cleaning, even though we left it in better shape than when we arrived. And then they continued to fight us when we provided the obvious pictures again. “Complete dissatisfaction” are the only words I have for that property management company. For your sake I would look into other opportunities.They will probably reply that some part of this is there policy. I get it and it’s how they make money. But something will always come down to “it’s our policy”. At some point you have to take care of your tenants and just care about the people who live in your building. Keep this in mind when you rent.I’ll supply pictures if needed.Everything that Chris Chusing said in the review below mine is true. We had to move out a week before the next move in. There will always be a “miscommunication” with that company to not help there tenants even if they know they are wrong.Bissonette will probably respond how they did in the post before mine. And it will keep going on.My advice is find something better.

Bissonette is hands down the best property management company I have ever dealt with. We called Bissonette Properties to find a place to live while still residing in Atlanta after my GF accepted a job offer. We gave them our price range, needs, and preferences. They very clearly explained the Burlington housing market, gave us multiple options, and even did tours via FaceTime. After a couple weeks of going back and forth on properties we signed our lease and drove 20+ hours on Sep 28th. We have since settled in and have had a few maintenance requests. All requests were handled as quickly as possible and the maintenance team is on point. We love our unit and cant thank the entire Bissonette Team enough for making a very stressful move as fluid as possible. Yall are awesome! Thank you!

Parking space was not managed properly by the landlord for tenants only after I moving in, which made a lot of non property residents parking at our parking lot as leaving us the residents no where to park our cars. A lot of renovation works had been going on through the summer season as early as 7:30am,which was rather noisy and intolerable for all of our roommates. The properties were not considerate most of our requests such as heater adjustment, leaking and separately returning of our deposit

I couldnt recommend Bissonette properties enough, and in contrast to most other leasing companies in Burlington they have extremely kind and timely staff that walked me through both the renting process, and any issues I encountered during my lease!

In terms of house quality and responsiveness, Bissonette are good landlords. They provide decent housing and a decent level of service. Renter beware however, that less than 3 months into your lease, they will begin showing your apartment if you do not agree (or are unsure of NINE MONTHS in the future, what your plans will be.) to stay for an additional year. This means that in September of 2017, youll need to tell them you plan on being on this spot until June of 2019. Thats a hell of a commitment to expect of a renter, and if you cant at the time; expect several showings. Our Apt has had 17 showings scheduled over the course of 2 weeks, Sept 12th/26th.

A systematically anti-tenant predatory landlord that adopts many of the same abusive renting tactics found in cities like San Francisco. Raises rent for no explainable reason, starts charging for services that were previously included, and frequently neglects client needs for repairs until at least the third reminder. Abuses lack of tenant protection laws by requiring ACH payments upon signing. This is already illegal in California. Hopefully VT catches up. Very crafty with laws, insurance, and documentation, great at appearing like a legitimate business until you sign the dotted line.

Rented for a year and a half from Bisonette. At first they seem calm and helpful, but soon enough you start to realize that they don’t care about any life circumstances. Our apartment was broken into and we requested our locks be changed due to this, they charged us $50. The apartment we rented was constantly covered in ice outside in the winter and snow removal was our responsibility despite it being included in rent. Towards the end of my rental period I was in between jobs and I requested they move my payment date back a week. This was done 2 weeks in advance and they flat out refused citing it was company policy. I ended up managing to get cash early and had it to them 3 days early, and still got charged a fee. We also constantly have issues with trash removal (which we pay for in the included price) because it’s a huge dumpster at the back of the driveway despite us and Myers requesting we get toters. There are nails sticking up through our floors throughout the house. The insulation isn’t there in our unit. Even with leaving our apartment at 55-60 while gone and not turning it up past 70 while home we still end up paying $150 a month for gas heat.The employees are responsive and timely but they refuse to look past company policies and understand that life happens sometimes. They have fees for anything and everything you think of and despite reporting issues or trying to get ahead they end feeing you for that too.EDIT: More issues1) Having to resign the lease so early, usually 9 months in advance or else they’ll sell the unit out from under you.2) They never have enough parking and claim there’s plenty of street parking, but anyone from Burlington will tell you that street parking is never reliable or close by (especially if you work evening shifts).3) If you get a different unit with them after your current lease is up you will have a week without a home unless you’re lucky. They require you to move out in the 25th and you can’t move in until the first. Oh, and you also pay for that last week of rent despite having nowhere to stay. Gotcha.Edit 2: They will also deduct from your security deposit in any way they can. This unfortunately includes routine cleaning (which is against the law).

They are rude and inconsiderate. They do not hold up the part of parking that is in the lease and allow more cars than the parking lot has. Which is not fair to a tenet who only has one car and another who may have 2 to an apartment. They wont tow even if its clearly not a tenet parked in the lot, Takes the weeks to fix things and they are just not nice! WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET AND THE ATTITUDE YOU GET

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. They start showings 6 months before the lease is up and refuse to accommodate for your schedule. I asked If showings could be kept to a single day of the week and they said no, we will book showings 2 days a week not 1. This was a lie. After stating they would keep showings to Mondays and Tuesdays they continued showing the apartment all days of the week. This 0 star review is not because they didnt book showings in line with my schedule it is because they lied. Before you consider renting from Bissonette ask yourself this important question. Is signing a legally binding contract written by a liar a good idea?

Looking out my window noticed two vans Bissonette Property that drive around servicing all of the apartments. I clogged some pluming & they had the same day service. Having an in house custodial team is a plus in anyones book.

They advertise themselves as a nice, family-owned, feel-good company, and indeed their staff are all very friendly and personable. However, do not let this neighborly demeanor fool you: they are a large, corporate property management company primarily concerned with the bottom line. You will be viewed not as a person, but as a paycheck. Beware a lack of transparency and ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS before agreeing to a lease.My rating is reflective of my experience, and indeed yours may be entirely different. However, below are things you should know about renting from this company. They will hide and downplay these facts as much as possible during showings and subsequent conversations, so you must ask them direct questions. In my case, many of these details were omitted entirely until right before I was to sign the lease. Hopefully this will help you make a fully informed decision prior to signing any paperwork.1 - You must move out 5-6 days before the end of the month and that time is not pro-rated. This means you pay for 5-6 days that you are not actually living in the apartment. If your next lease starts on the first of the month, you better have a plan because you will be homeless for the better part of a week.2 - They require you to re-sign 9 months in advance. If you rent in, say, January 2019, you must re-sign for January 2020 at the end of March 2019. They will then subject you to multiple showings per week, at all hours of the day, and make only the slightest of effort to accommodate your schedule. This intrusiveness can go on for months.3 - They pass the cost of Burlington’s property registration fee on to you. This is an additional $100 per year fee that is not advertised or included in the rental fee. We were not informed of this until we showed up to sign the lease. Imagine if UHaul charged you a surprise fee for registering the truck when you came to pick it up.4 - Also not included in the advertised rental rate is an additional mandatory $23 per month PER PERSON for trash, recycling, and water. Yes, they charge you for water, at a flat rate, regardless of whether or not you actually use the amount for which they are charging.5 - Apartments really do look nice, and are indeed some of the nicer ones in the area, but are cheaply made. Cheap materials = very easy to damage = an excuse for them to take your security deposit.6 – They require AHC payments (no checks – direct withdrawal only, on a date set by them) and do not allow flexibility in timing when you can pay your rent.7 – They have a very good photographer. Rooms are often much smaller than they appear in the photos.8 – Don’t hang anything on the walls. They will require you to pay to have the entire room repainted because of a few tack holes.9 – To their credit, they were very responsive during the few times we had maintenance issues.
