Smile Boston is a great office with an amazing staff. I went for the first time yesterday and not only did I receive gentle care while I was there, but also left the office feeling more confident about our plan for a perfect smile.When arriving, Alison kindly greeted my daughter and I and have my daughter a sticker (which only helped boost her happiness to 1000). The check in process was smooth and swift and the Aquarium kept my daughter entertained until I completed the paperwork. The dental assistant, Victor, then sat me in a chair and prior to anything explained what he would be doing. He was absolutely perfect and gentle. Dr. Spitz was able to provide me with clear information on my options and recommendations.To simplify, I had an amazing experience at Smile Boston and so did my daughter. The team is amazing, the work they do is amazing, and even the space itself is amazing.

Great prostidontists office .. the Dr Spitz is an artist in his own right.. everybody very patient and accommodating especially with someone like me whos kind of a perfectionist and bad at making decisions and always late 5 minutes because Ive had to go through so much dental work in the past few years. I just appreciate everything they do to make sure Im happy. Im probably the most picky person that they will ever have there and I commend them for putting up with me. I have been coming to Smile Boston for many years. I always have a positive experience. The hygienists are knowledgable and efficient when they work. On my most recent visit Shawn was my hygienist. She was extremely helpful in explaining what is going on with my teeth and gave me some helpful tips to help me keep my teeth helpful. She was also so friendly and welcoming. Hygienists I have had in the past at Smile Boston have also been so good. In addition, Andrew, at the front desk was super helpful!

Love this dentist and highly recommend. They do a great job at their specialty overall, but on top of that they take care to teach you about what’s going on with your teeth and explain why doing what they recommend for dental care is important - especially Shawn!! With regard to time period, I should note that I began as a patient of Dr. Spitz’s predecessor in 1989. (I am a 64 year old corporate lawyer.) That dentist, who also taught courses at Tufts Dental school, found in Dr. Spitz’s practice both the high clinical skills and sensitivity to patient needs that would make entrusting his patients to Dr. Spitz something he could do with a high level of confidence as he prepared to retire.Range of Experiences. I have had a wide range of dental needs provided by SmileBoston. This has included basic cleanings and fillings to treating infections, performing root canals, molding crowns, and an extraction, bone rehabilitation and complete tooth replacement with an implant. The SmileBoston team is well-versed in all the appropriate safety protocols regarding masks, shields, gloves, wiping down surfaces, etc. In addition, they’ve paid careful attention to the sequence of patients arriving and departing to avoid close contact. I have felt very safe and well cared for in this regard in each of the (many) appointments and procedures I’ve had during the pandemic.Special Note Regarding Endodontic Treatment - Root Canals: Dr. Susan Han is, arguably, a true maestro of her profession. I have had a number of root canals over the past 40 years and while techniques have naturally advanced, the difference between Dr. Han’s skill-sets and those of other highly-rated endodontists I’ve seen in Boston is nothing short of remarkable. I thought her precision and dexterity were amazing five years ago during a root canal. When I had to have another root canal last year, I would swear she’s gotten even better—hard to do, given her starting point. I do not think you could do better, anywhere.Personal Observation. I have found Dr. Spitz consistently committed to “getting it right” over the years. In my corporate life, I’ve learned that the culture comes down from the top. Anyone looking for a good dentist please dont trust those online 5 star reviews that don’t align with the competence of this dentist.Two years ago, I had a tooth filling come out. I had no symptoms at all at that time, since I am a newcomer to Boston, I rely on online reviews on where to go for various needs. Since Dr. Spitz put so many self-assured praises on the internet, I went to Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry for a re-filling. Since that re-filling, I have started having endless poor results: During the re-filling, Dr. Vitoria Kaplan had damaged the nerve in my tooth, so I ended up needing a root canal procedure. The crown was so poorly built that in May of last year, the crown came off. I then went to see Dr. Russell Taylor to address this, he had not mentioned any issue with the tooth at the time, but simply put the crown back and ignored there was a cavity under the crown. After two months, the crown had come off again, I then saw Dr. Steven Spits in August, and he had decided to do a tooth lengthening procedure. Immediately following this procedure, I had developed a serious infection around the tooth and a big pus fistula on the gum, and a cone-beam(CT) showed that there had been substantial bone loss, root fracture and I inevitably lose this tooth and needing an implant now.Im hoping to prevent what happened to me from happening to other potential victims. I have submitted my case for board review, after consulting with several dentists, it is so obvious to me that Dr. Spitzs clinical skill is well below standard. See how much time he spent on looking at reviews and writing replies. Please use your time wisely on improving your skills, Dr. Spitz!

I wish I could give this place six stars! From the second I walked in, Andrew greeted me by name and welcomed me into the practice. Dr. Rosen was exceptional with the cleaning and cavity filling, which was assisted by Trina.What really impressed me was Dr. Rosen walking me through my x-rays. I felt empowered, NOT pressured, to make the decision to proceed with a cavity filling that day. It was always my choice and that gave me a ton of confidence. Dr. Rosen explained where the cavities were, what she was looking at, and that I could likely wait six months to a year to address them. When I decided I wanted them filled that day, she had the time to get them filled pain-free. This was certainly my first time laughing and smiling during a cavity filling because of Trina and Dr. Rosens engaging conversation kept me at ease. Best of all, Andrew confirmed my dental plans coverage for the treatment and let me know what the price would be before a dental drill touched my tooth.Also, dont let the street parking fool you! There are plenty of spots and options (many of which do not require parallel parking) right out front!

I recently switched over to SmileBoston and had a wonderful experience. I rarely have issues with my teeth but was told recently by 2 other dentists that I needed a crown and some cavities filled. After receiving a referral to SmileBoston, I decided to get a 3rd opinion and ultimately let Dr. Taylor do his magic. I have terrible anxiety when it comes to needles, but the staff was incredibly kind, patient and understanding with me (the nitrous gas also helped). Thanks to everyone who got me through that day!

Great experience. Dr. Kaplan was very patient and claiming. The location is ideal and the staff is super friendly. Cleaning, fillings and dental work is done in a timely manner and to the customer satisfaction. The only thing I would love is a day with late hours until 6 or 7pm.

Everyone at Smileboston is so friendly and you can tell they really know their stuff. My 6 month checkup was easy and didnt take long at all. I have a very real fear of the dentist so havent been in at least 8 years. I was having issues with a tooth and was convinced by others that I needed a root canal. It took all of my courage just to call and make an appointment. Right from the start I felt at ease. The person who answered the phone was very understanding. When I came in I met Leah first who was amazing and really put me at ease. And then Dr. Spitz came in and met with me, and it turns out that I didnt need a root canal and all I really needed was a good cleaning and a crown on another tooth. I came back a few days later for the cleaning which was great, and have the appointment for the crown next month. They offered me many options including gas, sedation or medication for the appointment for the crown. I feel that for the first time I may have found a dentist that I can visit regularly and who takes my anxiety and fears seriously. I highly recommend them to anyone who hasnt been to the dentist because of fear or anxiety. And I would also note that they were the only dentist I found that had 100% positive reviews.Update - I had the crown done and it was absolutely painless. The gas helped tremendously with any anxiety or fear that I still had, and after it was all over I was so surprised at how good I felt. And I just went on Monday for a cleaning and had no fear or anxiety about it at all. I even heard the drill going in the next room and didnt panic. It was just a cleaning and I think that I am now completely over my fear of the dentist. Thank you so much Dr. Spitz and everyone at Smileboston!!!!

As Dr. Spitz knew from the form I had filled out, I am phobic about dentistry and have not been to a dentist in years. I was only there now because I needed a root canal. Ugh. He was wonderful, went really slowly, explained everything, kept talking to me during the procedure which really helped, and gave me a squeeze toy to use when he saw me clutching the arm rests. I felt it was the best possible experience, and I feel more confident about going back for future work.

The new hygienist, Carolyn, was very nice and sensitive to taking over from someone who had been my hygienist for many years. And Dr. Caplan was wonderful and thorough as usual. Other than a heads up on 3 old fillings that may need replacing soon, no issues.

I cant say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Spitz, Kat, and the rest of the team at Smileboston. They took excellent care of me and made sure that my time in the chair was as pleasant as possible.If you have gum recession, strongly consider the Pinhole Surgical Technique as an alternative to gum grafts. When I had the misfortune of needing a filling (hadnt had one in about 15 years so I was pretty nervous) Dr. Kaplan put my nerves at ease, and checked in several times to make sure I was still numb and feeling okay. She explained what she was doing and what I should expect afterwards. Scheduling appointments and billing/insurance is always a breeze. Finding the perfect home for our dental health has been a life changer! Thanks to the amazing care and top notch, state of the art diagnostic tools, both my son and I can credit the SmileBoston team with saving our teeth. My son was misdiagnosed for years and years when his baby teeth has yet to fall out. We were told to wait and then he could get braces to correct his bite. One visit to SmileBoston and we learned that all of my teenage sons secondary teeth were fused to the roof of his mouth! And that they would never push out his baby teeth. SmileBoston recommended surgical and orthodontic care expert in rare cases like my sons. (Not one previous dentist or orthodonist even looked for the cause!) For me, Dr. Spitz recommended braces. When he first told me, I laughed. My teeth were extremely straight. I did, however, suffer from receding gums. Dr. Spitz showed me that one of my teeth was turning ever so slightly and pulling my gums away from the rest of my teeth. Sort of like sharing a bed and your partner rolls over and takes all the covers. Six months later, my teeth are less sensitive. Flossing no longer hurts (so I am honestly flossing!). We look forward to going to the dentist! Can you say that? Thank you to the awesome team at SmileBoston. We are truly smiling in my family!

Honestly very disappointed in Smileboston as of today. As far as dentists go, I have always liked Smileboston. They have friendly technicians and usually make the experience as miserable as possible! However, today I had a very different experience. In 2017, I had a visit and had xrays done..I had complained of a very painful tooth but was told “it’s fine; if it continues to hurt just come back”. Since then, I have not been able to chew on my right side. Today, I had xrays done again and it showed very clearly that the exact tooth I had complained of was broken. Then, the technician went back to the 2017 xrays and it showed the same exact break. Yet it was ignored back then. Then today the technician proceeds to tell me “oh sorry the dentist just left for the day”. So I didn’t even see a dentist at this appt to consult the tooth or do a general check which is supposed to be done at every appt!! This is absolutely unacceptable.

The staff greets you by name, they are very personable! The hygenists take detailed notes about your life and are alwayd sure to asl you about yourself. The dentist is amazing and very thorough. I highly recommend this dental office!

Ive had nothing but excellent service from Dr. Orenstein and the hygienic team at Smileboston in Brookline and recommend them to as many people as possible. Ive been afraid of the dentist for almost as long as I can remember, and being a patient at Smileboston has completely changed my idea of what a dental team can be. Im always greeted by name when I get to the Brookline office, and the admin team does an incredible job of reaching out to explain procedure costs and how to work with your insurance to get the best care you can. The hygienists walk you through each procedure and foster such a calm environment whether youre there for a routine cleaning or a more intensive appointment. I was in a difficult financial situation last year and just recently had a crown on a tooth weve been watching for a while, and felt informed and respected from planning around my finances to the actual procedure itself. Dr. Orenstein is such a caring and respectful dentist and I feel like Im in great hands at the Smileboston office.

I go back to Dr. Justin Lee Altschuler on Bay State Road in the mid-70s. Personnel and professionalism have never been better.

Dr Spitz is a wonderul and gentle docter .His staff is very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that he does not eccept proletariate insurances. He is so kind to the lions and other animals but no kindness to his hundreds of years old patients of many years.

Dr. Kaplan exemplifies what a dentist should be. She is kind and considerate. She works diligently and with a perfect gentil touch. I have recently had an accident where my front tooth was chipped. I couldent bare to show my face in public. Dr. Kaplan not only restored my tooth but my confidence as well. You would never know what happened it matched perfect and it felt just the same as my natural tooth. She is amazing and I have and will suggest her to anyone in need of a magical dentist.
