They did a great job on the repair itself and did not try to upcharge us for any other repairs. They found a part in the transmission that was causing the problem, and just fixed that part, while other people would try to claim the transmission needed replaced. Affordable and great work. Would highly recommend

My transmission was slipping so I brought it in for a diagnosis. Turns out it needed to be completely rebuilt. I used AAMCO to get new motor mounts on my 2010 ford transit connect. Lewis at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable regarding the repair I was getting done and gave me an in depth explanation of my repairs in a way that i could understand & also visually showed me on my car what it needed and why it needed it. I will only use these guys from now on and am super happy with the service that they provided.

As we all know there are shops out there, that are more for your buck than they are the bang. It makes it difficult to find an honest and trustworthy shop to drop your vehicle into the hands of. I started going to Aamco (Lewis specifically) almost three years ago. They have been my go to ever since. No job is too big and they arent out to feed you nonsense. Very up front and straight forward! Not out to rob your wallet. Theyve done transmission work, diagnostic, electrical on my vehicle. (basically a little bit of everything) I HIGHLY recommend Aamco and Lewis!

I had a wonderful experience! I got my oil changed and had them look at an oil leak that Ive had forever. The oil change was quick and reasonably priced and they fixed the leak at no cost! It was a quick fix, but still. Ive never had a mechanic fix something for free! He was super professional and it was an all around great experience. I wish I would have gotten it done sooner.

Went to two of the transmission companies and they both said I needed a rebuilt transmission for $3300. I talk to the people at Amco and they said to bring it in so they could take a look at it and they repaired it for $1100 and is running perfectly. Will definitely use again

From out of town. Transmission light came on. Ryan diagnosed, offered advice. Made phone calls on my behalf. My transmission was under an extended factory warranty. Got a new transmission. This is an excellent aamco. I took my sons F150 in after the holidays before he heads back home knowing it probably needed a little work. The staff starting with the front office when you walk in were friendly and actually listened.They took the truck back and did a full diagnostic test on it to determine all it needed.Once they new what needed to be fixed they let me know going through the details of each thing. They let me know what could wait versus what needed to be done immediately to make sure the vehicle was safe. AND NO PRESSURE TO DO MORE THAN ACTUALLY NEEDED like I have experienced elsewhere.Not only that, but they even showed me the worn parts after completing the job, so I could see how bad things were.These guys did the job in amazing time too, knowing (I had as usual left this to the last minute) my son needed to leave the next day!!I will definitely take all my vehicles back to this location from now on. Glad I took the advise from a good friend to take the vehicle to them. Excellent all around.

I have been coming to AAMCO on Cortez for 4 years. I have had 5 vehicles off and on, always a truck and car. Louis, Ryan, Piero and all the technicians are World Class at diagnosing and repair. Always given options on parts sources and costs. I have a BMW wiring job coming up and NOBODY is going to touch it but them! No overfixing here. Advise and suggestions are always divided between urgent or elective. Anyone asks where to get any make auto service in Manatee County, I tell them Nowhere but there! Best of all..NEVER come back on the SAME ISSUE!

Ryan was my first contact when I called due to an issue with my car not always starting. I was able to get in that morning. It ended up being the fuel pump. After a test drive they noticed coolant leaking and replaced the thermostat housing. They could have dismissed the issue but called me and gave me a quote and said they would repair it right away. Explained the damage to the housing and the importance of replacement and saved the part to show me. Luis explained everything to me and kept me notified of the progress. The guys were empathetic and wanted to be ensure I didnt break down somewhere. Excellent service. Lisa was very courteous and Lewis was very, very knowledgeable. The 10 days return check-up required more work but at no additional cost for parts or labor. I originally went to another mechanic and they told me they wouldnt work on my car for certain reasons and even if they did it was going to cost 8-9000 dollars. (New drive shaft)Brought it to AAMCO and Bill was amazing! He found me a used drive shaft for a reasonable price and had it ready before the expected date! Told me if I had any issues the next couple of days to feel free to bring it by! I feel like they handled the situation really well and in a timely manner! Very experienced and understanding!THANKS!

This was the best experience I have had. Tracy the mechanic did a amazing job fixing my car. It runs better now then ever and he went the extra mile by fixing a few things that werent even listed. Customer service was tip top Lisa sat down with me and went over everything explaining what was done and made me happy GREAT personality. Lewis the manager was so friendly and understanding, very knowledgeable. I came in very distraught thinking my car was ready for the junk yard. The repair price was more then fair and I actually got better service then I ever got on mechanical repairs. I would highly recommend this shop and from now on will go there for all my mechanical needs. Tracy is a genius with cars!

I am very pleased with my AC repair. They were quick ,efficient,inexpensive and also very courteous I am very please and would highly recommend them. The best part of the experience is that it did not cost me an arm and a leg for the repair.

The people here are very friendly and honest. They worked on my truck A/C system and different components and did a great job. I would go to them for anything.

These people do not honor their quotes and they make excuses. I was quoted $690 to get my rear main seal replaced but ended up being charged $894. The owner tried to say that was taxes and the other lady kept coming up with excuses. Come to find out even tho we kept on contact with them they didnt tell us they were having a problem dropping the transmission. They charged almost $760 in labor because they couldnt get it done on the time they quoted. All the excuses the lady told us they never said one word about over the phone when we talked to them. When questioned the manager resorted to name calling because they were called out for not honoring HIS quote. Then turned around and said the rear main seal wasnt our problem... Then why would they replace it? If that wasnt the problem shouldnt they have said this is your problem we would recommend doing this instead? This place is just a rip off and is not worth the headache! I will NEVER recommend them and will never take another vehical to them again.

I admit, I am not a car person. I drive an older Dodge Caliber. Turns out my Caliber has a tricky transmission. When it started making an odd sound I knew it was time to have it checked out. Per the advice of my uncle, who works in Chevrolet’s corporate offices, I took the car Aamco. Ian, Lisa, and Lewis where helpful, honest, and straight forward regarding the transmission repair and cost. The quality of the service was not only excellent but sincere and friendly. The first time I had my car serviced here (10/15/2013), Julius diagnosed the problem and fixed it within a couple hours. Part of that service was replacing the battery. This week my battery light came on. The retailer that provided the battery refused to replace it. I contacted Julius and he IMMEDIATELY took care of it. An honest mechanic is great, but one that will go to bat for his customers is truly a rare find. Also, I needed a sensor replaced and an oil change done before a long road trip, and again, Julius and his staff got me in and out under two hours.GREAT SERVICE, GREAT MANAGEMENT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

AAMCO’s Rebuilt Transmission Service has been good thus far. I felt that some of the part prices were too high, but needed the service for Check Engine Light On; no other options. I had the engine starter replaced and it is still not starting as quick as it did prior to the service; plan to take the vehicle back to be checked for service. Major engine work was done and vehicle seems to be running much better. I had to take my vehicle back several times for different issues. I wish total car care would have diagnosed everything during one trip. The time for vehicle return to customer was very quick! Customer Service was Excellent! Very nice people at this location.

I enjoyed my stay when I was at the shop. Very kind, honest staff also grand service... They found the issue to my car and fixed it for me in a decent time frame at that while also providing me knowledge on the issue and what to check for in the future.Plus it a family owned business, in my opinion they normally tend to be a lot better then big businessId recommend them fully.

Called before going in, said I needed my brakes checked, they were grinding. Was told it would be about 30-45 min check to get an estimate, was told the same thing when I dropped the car off. I also asked at drop off if they could fill my tires. An hour and a half later I had to call to check status, they said they werent confident it was the brakes and that it may be a wheel bearing, which makes no sense based on the fact the grinding happens only when I press the brakes and only on occasion.Finally after 2 hours, they tell me they got the wheels off and my rear brake pads are paper thin (duh, I said check the brakes, I knew it was the brakes). Then Im told an hour and a half is how long it will take. I came back after almost 2 hours and still had to wait another 45 minutes for them to finish.The reason I called in the morning was to ensure I could get this work done before I had to go to work. My biggest complaint is the improper expectations were set. Ive had brakes done before in other places that did not take 5 hours to get done. Plus, my tires were not filled as requested.The staff was friendly, despite the improper expectations, and the 2 stars is based on that, as well as the work being done properly....except for the lack of air in my tires.

Went to the shop a little over a week ago to have my brakes done. Im from up north so my car is heavily rusted and a lot of the back brake system needed to be repaired. They were able to make an appointment the same day I called. Unfortunately, they didnt have all the parts they needed and had to order them. They kept my car over night, informed me as soon as the parts came in and that they had started work on it right away. Because of my work schedule I wasnt able to pick it up until the next day. Their prices were fair and they even took mercy on me and knocked off some of the labor charges to help me out. The staff was polite, generous, helpful and trustworthy (I forgot some money in the cupholder of my car and it was still there when I got the car back, which is more than I can say would have happened at a lot of other places!) and Im really glad I chose this shop for my car care needs.Thats not the end of this story though! After getting the back brakes replaced I noticed a strange smell from the back of the car, I was pretty sure it was just the new parts wearing in, but then I also noticed that my car started to vibrate when I drove it. I called and told them about it the next morning and they told me to come on in so they could check it out. Turns out that while I was cleaning my car and had moved the e-brake to get around the center console the e-brake had gotten stuck and trashed the wheel drum. They identified the problem and since my brakes were under warranty, fixed the problem for free.Really great people. Would recommend them to anyone!

Sorry to say less than a one vote. I called twice to get the details on there transmission service. I told them what kind of suv I had and they told me I would receive a complete service meaning oil filter and a complete flush for 200.00. I wanted complete service because sub had hit 80k miles on it. I called around because price was a little better than dealerships. I called back again and was reinsured it was a complete service and she even checked on it. I went with there transmission service. At check out I detected on Bill there was no filter or gasket mentioned. I questioned the girl behind the desk that assured me of the details of service. I soon detected something was up and ask to speak to mechanic. He told me the truth there was no transmission full service just a simple drain and fill. I looked back at the girl and she was speechless. She handed back my key and ran out the door. I have loss confidence in Amaco transmission service for life.

Lisa and Lewis are awesome! My AC went out the day before I had to drive to Atlanta and they fit me in even though I didnt have an appointment. And they told me what the problem was very quickly, unfortunately the closest part I needed was in South Carolina so I had to wait to fix it. Lisa looked everywhere for the part and was even going to drive to Brandon to get it, but they didnt have it either. Best costumer service ever thank you guys!

I had came to AAMCO with what I thought was a power steering issue with either the power steering pump or a hose... Lewis looked at my car and told me it was just the clam that came loose, which made the hose come off, Lewis and the tech Tracy fixed the hose and put new fluid. I dont know anything about vehicles and was really stressed, and if wasnt for Lisa and her WONDERFUL customer services I wouldnt have came here...I am beyond satisfied with this location! keep up the wonderful work!!! I had power steering making noises and transmission started shifting hard so made appointment. They did diagnostics and found no real issues. They could have told me things were wrong but were very honest and all inspection was at no charge. If anything does go wrong and needs repaired I will go back. Very friendly and honest people. 2021 had work done by them and again for wiring issue. They found the issue quickly and repaired for a reasonable fee.

So- transmission problems are awful to begin with- and then add that I’m a female senior citizen.. well, this Aamco was just great start to finish. Kindness, fair price and my car runs perfectly now!

Quoted $2,600 for a 15 min repair. Part cost less than $100!! So thats about $10,000 an hour pay !! If he would have quoted me $500-$600 I would have been perfectly fine with it and he would have a sale. But I think his lazy ass just didnt want to do the work.

Had a few issues going on with my truck that I couldnt figure out myself and was on a time crunch so I took it down to these guys and and they searched high and low and got everything adjusted correctly and I couldnt be happier that my truck is in tip top shape now. Lewis, Tracy and Bill are the guys to talk to down there they know there stuff and take care of there customers so they leave satisfied and if something isnt right after you leave they will take care of it. Have had a few work trucks down there to get repaired as well as my personal truck and this is the ONLY shop I take my truck to if needed. Let me start by saying Im a certified mechanic and former service manager who owned a dealership so I know a little about cars. Julius, the Manager, is one of the most professional and high quality people Ive met in this field. He knows transmissions better than anyone I know, and is a proactive customer-oriented pro who will keep you well informed about your service from start to finish. They rebuilt my Mercedes-Benz transmission for 1/3 the price of a MB dealership and it runs great. They had me return after two weeks to see if I needed any further adjustments, etc. and my car runs even better after a slight vacuum pressure adjustment. I highly recommend them and found they also do other work, like brake jobs and engine repairs. I will return for the quality service, value pricing and professionalism of Julius.

I took my vehicle to Aamco for a second opinion on transmission repairs after having another shop tell me that it needed rebuilt in excess of $2500.00. Ian had my vehicle promptly,and accurately diagnosed within an hour,come to find out I needed a minor repair for $463.12. Thanks to Ian and his staff for being an honest and fair repair facility.

This place and the owner ian took advantage of me and my 3 kids. I wish he had told me the car was not worth fixing , he did not cost me 3,300 dollars to still have a broke car. someone should put him out of buisness

Lewis and Bill handled our situation, which it was a situation, EXCELLENTLY. I will tell you when you are down and out, and need a situation fixed, need rental car, more than 30 miles from home, car dies with leaking fluids, cannot start and when does you dont dare drive, call full of furniture you just bought from Goodwill now sticking out the window, pouring rain, cell phones not charging properly, no breakfast and lunch is spent dealing with this (while sitting at table at Goodwill), have to get to Homecoming game for childrens important night in two hours, have to change out of bathing suit and cover up into something suitable for game or else embarrassment til end of time for said child, did I mention out of town as well and melting from the heat, and...I could go on. They fixed it, found car where there was none, gave estimate and now I am even paying less than estimate, etc etc. WAY TO GO. THANK GOD FOR THEM...Lewis and Bill. Rock STARS! It was not perfect situation, but we overcame the bumps...they did anyhow. Thank you!!!

I found my local mechanic shop. These guys are Incredibly honest and friendly. I went in thinking my issue was going to be expensive with my check engine light on. They gave me a FREE diagnostic and told me my battery had loose connections, tightened them up and sent me on my way. I am sending everyone I know here that need a great honest mechanic.
