We were without a place when we took new jobs in BG and our home buying process fell through at appraisal. Megan was amazing and put us in a gorgeous condo. We finally found and purchased a home and when we had to break the lease early they were so kind and worked with us.

PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM HERE....This has been the WORST company to work with... The women are so trained/groomed to be petty and will bluntly disrespect you to your face. I have NEVER met people so twisted and mean in a professional setting. You will ALWAYS be wrong in EVERY situation. They do not take any responsibility for their own actions. I have been yelled at, cursed at, wrongly accused. You better believe nothing is going to change. They will continue to get your money, take your respect, take your integrity and not regret a single thing.

Select Property Management is by far one of the worse companies and people I’ve ever worked with in my lifetime. They are not only incompetent in managing property but they have such arrogance that they don’t even try to do things right. If you are an owner of property looking for a management company, do not use them. They don’t care about your property or your income. They’ve been in the business so long that they have the attitude of not caring about anything. Bruce (owner/manager) is where this all comes from and if you ever speak to him you will notice that the guy thinks he knows everything and everyone else is ignorant. Stay away from this company.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!! I rented from this place myself 2 years ago and it’s a dump. The apartments look nice and clean until you move in and stuff starts messing up that they want YOU to pay for. My sisters husband lost her job due to the pandemic. He has been unemployed for 2 months with no luck of finding a job and constantly getting the run around with temp agencies. His unemployment has had “under investigation” for 2 months now. They also have a 3 year old daughter. They have received so many phone calls from select property management threatening them to be evicted. Throughout this entire pandemic they have shown NO COMPASSION for their tenets. A friend of mine also rents from select and she has the same issue. It’s a GLOBAL PANDEMIC and select is calling her and her husband wanting money that was owed to an apartment 2 years ago! Please, take your business, time, and money elsewhere.

Their office leaves whenever they want to. The employees are unprofessional. They spray paint over mold. They will make up fake damages to the property. They let my family (with a child) go without heat for 2 days on snowy nights because our central heat is old and broken. Prepare for them to make up reasons to take your security deposit back.Last resort to ever rent from.

My first review from several months back about the roaches and mice got deleted. In short: I had to fix those issues myself. Today, I called because a cable fell through a hole in my floor into the crawl space. I called them and they said they wont get it. They want me to get it myself or call a cable company. I dont have cable.

If i could give them 0 stars I would. We were scammed. We have to put a deposit down in order to even fill out an application. Megan takes our deposit and we fill them out. She comes back with a pre lease agreement and has us sign that. Then she goes over our applications telling us we make enough and job history is good. Then she says we need 4x the rent in our bank account. Then she keeps talking about a guarantor. The paper she wants is a co signor agreement after she told us specifically that it wasnt. We dont want to do that. So when we get paid we tell her okay now we have the amount of money in the account you asked for. Suddenly thats not right and we have to have a Co signer. She says they have to own their own home. She we get my cousin to do it. She owns her own home. When we send it in we call her to tell her and she looks it over and says well she doesnt make 80k a year. What?! You never said that was a requirement and what?! Most American people dont make 50k a year let alone 80! The worst part. Now theyre trying to keep our 800 dollar deposit. Im less than 2 months from delivering. That money was to find a bigger place to bring our daughter home to and now. We may have paid an 800 application fee. Why? Because sh decided to keep making up or with holding things from us.

I once gave this place 5 stars. I have since deleted that review and am now making this one. Back in September 2019 my fiance committed suicide and I was left to pay all the bills with my minimum wage job. I had talked to Megan the manager about getting out of the lease because 1. I couldnt afford it alone and 2. I was going to move backWith my parents because staying in the apartment where my fiance died was just too much for me. Everything was good and I moved out. Then I started getting phone calls about missed rent and then I got papers in the mail about a court date for an EVICTION. I didnt get the papers until a week after the court date. So now my credit is ruined and with an eviction on my credit (they charged me over 5 thousand dollars) its impossible to even find a new place to live. Thanks select property for ruining my life even more.

This is a terrible company. Due to loss of child care because of the virus I lost my job. We paid rent on time every month until our savings ran out. I finally got my daughter into a daycare and started working again. As we are struggling to get back on our feet we were late with September and October’s rent. Bruce treated us terrible. He has no compassion for others when we had stayed up with our rent when others didn’t. He threatened us with suing us because I wouldn’t have the rent until the next day. I would definitely recommend taking your business somewhere else. The carpets in my home are so old the pull up with just regular vacuuming. They are over pieced. My roof leaks and the bathroom is filled with black mold that they just painted over upon move in. This company is trash. We put value back into the home only to get treated like we did when we had a rough patch due to a global pandemic ruining our economy. Please look else where.

I wish I could give 0 stars for this poorly run business. I rented from them for 2 years, had multiple leaks, & electrical issues. They would send the same person each time to do the job they couldn’t even do in the first place. PLUS got billed $1500 after I had been moved out for 6 months already. I called to speak with the owner multiple times and was given the run around. They will suck every penny from you for renovations that needed to be done anyways! I was charged for repainting when I never even painted to begin with...over all...renters beware of this place!

My boyfriend and I rented from Select for about 8 months. In that time, our house was broken into regularly (they changed the locks once after telling us we must’ve given someone else a key, though we know we hadn’t. The burglar then snapped the doorknob off the house completely and select refused to fix it so we had to buy our own doorknob), there was mold in the house (select let us know mold doesn’t grow IN houses, only under them. I only complained so much because I was pregnant), the shower was painted with regular wall paint, so the paint was peeling and molding, the plumbing was rotted out (they tried to tell us we had to pay for the plumber, but once the plumber saw the problem he let Select know that the plumbing should’ve been replaced 15-20 years ago), a pipe burst upstairs and flooded our kitchen ceiling which took a month to get maintenance to fix (in January, so the apartment was freezing). When I reached 9 months pregnant, I found a friend to take over me and my boyfriends lease. The new tenant paid to change the lease over, a new deposit and rather than finishing our current lease, Select signed a new one with the tenant. When we contacted Select about getting our deposit back, they told us we abandoned our lease and wouldn’t be getting our deposit back and we were lucky they weren’t coming after us for the $1800 lease break fee. They didn’t lose a single month’s rent because we had found someone to take over lease and move in the week after we moved out. So all in all, these people just took our money and someone else’s money after an awful experience with them for 8 months and said they were doing us a favor. Slum lords to say the least. If I could do it all again I would’ve rather lived on my boyfriends moms couch than waste so much time, money and frustration with this company. I’ve filed a complaint with the attorney general and plan to also file a complaint with the better business bureau and would urge any of the tenants who are dealing with similar problems to do the same. They should suffer the consequences of their actions and no one should be treated this way.

I have lived in a townhouse owned by this company for 4 years now. The office staff are great, the owner is personally involved in the business and available to speak to anyone asking, and they are quick to respond to concerns or maintenance requests. One of the few places in town that will allow pets, and wont jack the prices up every year. They take great care of their properties (probably my favorite thing about the agency) and my town house is large, spacious, and well maintained. I can easily provide a good recommendation from my own personal experience.Updated on 09/27/2017I lived there for a total of five years, and moved out 6 weeks ago. My review still stands true, and I got my full deposit back! The transition of moving out was so simple and smooth, and my deposit was returned within 35 days! Megan is great to work with. I have zero complaints!

Select property management has such a great staff! The women in the office will do everything they can to help you find a place to call home. If you ever have a maintenance issue they get the guys out there asap to fix the issue. The painters do a great job also. The cleaning staff cleans every place as best as can be from top to bottom. The carpet cleaners do a great job too and clean all carpet unless its new carpet. You are in great hands with Select Property Management!

From day 1 of working with them, they were so helpful, very accommodating & helped us find the perfect home to rent when we relocated to the Bowling Green area. Sometimes a big property issue takes a little longer to fix than is preferable. I do however enjoy the management and have never had issues with them. They have extended hours on rent day, and have fixed a lot of my other random issues quickly.

Great company to rent from. My experience was wonderful. Megan and the ladies in the office were always willing to help in any way. I loved how I didnt need an appointment to look at rentals and could go at my own pace. Just be aware that if you find something you like, they go fast! So many good options. Always quick to have maintenance make any repairs and were accomadating in the moving in and moving out process. Would recommend to anyone. Its hard to find bigger companies like them who are easy to deal with. Prices are competitive too. Good company.

After completing an application. We were told you had to have 2 or 4 times the amount of money in our banking account to rent a apartment. This is ridiculous!! Me and my wife make enough money to pay our rent and bills. Which should be all that matter to Select Property. Thats what bank statements and or pay stubs from your job show you. We could of made up any number to say was in our bank. Just saying but Ive never heard such garage in my life!! Its not becoming for people who are seaching for a place to live! Caution!!

Their properties are super affordable and they have a variety that appeals to all demographics. Although he is a very stern gentleman, the owner is a class act and has went above and beyond for me and my roommates. Positive experience living here.

I have rented from this company for over a year now and let me tell you they are the best. Where do I start, everything that they told me they kept their word. If something breaks they fix it not weeks or months later but the same day or the day after. I am also a business owner and I can truly say that they take pride in their properties that they own. My daughter moved back from Atlanta Ga, I called the office and told them what we needed and they ladies in the office gave me a list of properties to look at. My daughter loves her new apartment and now her friends and my son and his wife want to live in one of the apartments. Everything is new, clean, repainted walls, and the list goes on. My dishwasher went out and two days later I had a new one. My garage door opener stopped working and the very next day it was replaced, the whole device. I think Mr. Bruce Spence who gave me a second chance. Sometimes bad things happens to good people and I gave them my word that I would take very good care of my house. I keep my walls clean, I keep my white sink clean by soaking just a little bleach in warm water at least twice a week. I keep extra air filters so that way the air flow is always good. You as a tenant has to treat your place with pride. Be grateful that you have a place to live and your not sleeping outside. Never talk bad or against a business that is helping you or giving you a place to live. I recommended Select Property Management to anyone. They are the best in my book.

Rented a 3br/2b house from them. Had roaches before moving in. Mentioned it during a tour before signing a lease. Said they would get it taken care of. Had to call a professional to clear them out because they didnt do anything. Theyre extremely bad at maintaining properties.Forgot to tell us to set up a utility and 3 months later tells us that the actual owners of the house have been getting bills and that we should give them a check to repay the owners. Went in to pay and asked to see the bills, a reasonable request, they said they didnt have them. They had never seen the bills themselves, they just took it by word of mouth.They will find any reason to charge you some kind of fee. They will take advantage of you. Especially if you are a first time renter or a college student.

As a property owner, I was billed for maintenance on my property that was not completed. Living some distance away, I was not checking to see if things where actually being taken care of. When I became aware of issues, and I contacted the contacted company with my concerns, I was lied to, hung up on and told to stop bothering them. Obviously I ended up spending much more money than needed because I used this companies services.

Not at all organized. No one in this office communicates, and they all tell you different things when you ask questions. SPM continuously tries to get more money out of you. They have called us multiple times stating we have late fees to pay, when we weren’t late. When we confront them, they say “oh, we just didn’t check it off, sorry!!” Or something on the lines of that. They also never properly fix anything.

Withhold vital information. If you just changed jobs and worked there less than a year then dont bother. Youll have to have a cosigner(preferably married) that makes atleast 60,000 or more a year. Personally I have no one that qualifies for that who lives near me. I make more then most of my family. I hate to say it but I believe they have a bad case of profiling.

The best way I can describe this company is slum lords. I have rented from select for two years now in a house that honestly needs to be demolished. There was a period of time this year where we had stray cats living beneath the house because there were gaping holes in the foundation. They never take the time or money to properly fix anything, they basically just put a bandaid on it and continue taking your money, only for problems to again arise. We dealt with holes in the ceilings, mold behind the walls, floors that no matter how many times we cleaned they remained black, and SO much more. The only reason I lived here as long as I did was because it was the closest to campus that I could afford. These people need to actually take care of their properties rather than just continuing to place tenants in the equivalent of a shack. I paid a deposit two years ago and I already know they do not plan to give it back, although they cannot cite a single thing that we did to the home that wasnt already going to happen, due to poor maintenance and age. Simply put, do not rent from this company unless you want to feel like your living in a slum.

The new carpet smells like mildew. Ive been here about four months and had two water leaks, one from the pipes and one from outside. They took 2 to 3 weeks to fix it and then even longer to paint over it. Theyve lied about us reporting these issues twice and lied about rent being due by the 5th rather than the 1st (that one is on me, I should have read the lease closer and realized that like most rental businesses they want your money more than your respect).Also super friendly seeming blonde lady will tell you what you want to hear not what is actually true, like claiming youll be told in advance if maintenance or someone from the office is coming by. I cant wait until my lease is up even though Im sure they will find a reason to keep my deposit. Also most of these positive reviews are most likely the company pretending to be tenants, so dont be fooled like I was :)

These people are a waste of time. I had everything they needed and even told me I was qualified. The day I was supposed to get my lease they lied and said I wasn’t qualified. They will give you the run around and will never go in depth with you about your lease details. If your looking for a place to rent, please go else where

We got evicted from our property, which was our fault, but after we were gone Select Property Mgmt did all kinds of upgrades to the house and charged us for them in addition to our back rent and fees. They never came to repair or upgrade the house while we were there.

Very disorganized within office. I had 3 people tell me 3 different things. The girl named Ann is horrible. If you get her on the phone, ask to speak with someone else. I withdrew my application and was worried that they wouldnt refund my deposit. Thank God they did. Find someone else to lease from if you can.

If it was possible to leave 0 stars we would. Horrible company to lease from. Trapped us into the lease in the first place. We told them we had a dog and a terrarium when we asked about the pet policy. They told us no problem showed us the place and demanded the deposit. Then when we were going over the lease they said no aquariums i mentioned it as odd that they allow terrariums but not aquariums. Then they said we dont allow those. Told them the lady said you did. Well she didnt know what one was. Then they refused to return our deposit even though we hadnt signed a lease. Black mold and leaks they refuse to fix. Day 5 and the pipes backed up and spilled out onto the floor. Took the maintenance guys 5 days to make it out there. Then the window/wall started leaking out onto the floor for 9 freaking months. Every time it rained the carpet was soaked. We had mold growing half an inch out of the wall. Maintenance guy said the carpet would have to be replaced due to bad water damage and mold. (we moved out over a month ago. they did NOT change the carpet) There was black mold in both air conditioners that we could not get completely clean. Every time we ran them id have to vacuum black mold and crud off the floor in front of it each day. We told them a month in advance we were moving and filled out the form and set a date for us to turn in the key. Then when we tried they said they were too busy for a walk-through and we should have scheduled one. (we did, a month ago) Took the key anyway or theyd have charged us another months rent and then took forever to send the check. We had to keep calling them about it. Also, every time we turned around they were stopping by and coming in to replace filters and check smoke deteckers (and never on the dates they say theyre coming) They never replaced a single filter. They are actually coming in to make sure you dont have any animal or anything else that they can fine you for. Then they tried to keep part of our deposit to replace dirty blinds WE REPLACED THOSE BLINDS! They were brand new. We even have the receipt dated early that morning of the day we moved out. The check was even over a week late from what the lease THEY signed said. It states they have 30 days to return our deposit but they werent even close. When asked they said (snottily) if its a couple days late then its a couple days late. Funny, they dont seem to feel that way when its their money. (we were never late on our rent. not once in the 2 years we stayed there) NEVER rent from these people. They are horrible! Also, our neighbors had to move as they refused to fix a water leak under the house. They had a $400 water bill that was getting higher each month. They had to move because the last one was $700 and they couldnt afford to pay it but they wouldnt fix it. Turns out they used to be Spence Properties but they had to close and re-open under a different name as they had too many complaints and bad reviews.

Was great until I moved out. Then they started charging me to remove items in the yard of the apartment complex that did not even belong to me. Once you tell them you are moving to another state, they take as much money out of your security deposit as they can. I tried professionally reasoning with them, and every time they needed to call me back. I never got a call. I waiting a week each time I called in before calling back. From a business perspective, they are very immature. They are very nice and polite when you rent from them, but if you even slightly question their actions related to money, they turn into Krusty Krab. I am very disappointed after renting from them for so long. Im not so upset about the money I didnt get back, but more so at the service and actions of the staff.

Guilty of Nepotism - attempted to get a town home for 3 months. I was not allowed to put a down payment on it until the current tenants turned their key in. On the day I was told I could put a down payment on it. I call up and an employee’s family member now has it.

I lived with them for roughly 4 years, maybe a little longer. The first problem started the week I moved in. When I walked on the carpets, a black grease would form on my feet. I called and told Select about it, and they said they werent cleaning the carpets again. So $175 later, my family graciously hires professional care cleaning services. The next issue was that in the summer the air conditioning was not working properly. For 3 years I complained about my air conditioning, and they said, if you turn it below 68 it will freeze up the AC. I was no professional, so I just lived with it for a while. As time went on, the cost of my electric bill in the summer went from $190 the first year, to almost $300 a month during the warm months. Every summer I called, and every summer they sent people out who half assed looked at the unit. Finally, just before I moved out, they sent a reputable business. The air had completely gone out. The reputable HVAC business finally climbed under the townhouse, checked the air coming from the vents, and the ac. The compressor had gone out and rodents had eaten through the duct work under the house. When I called the HVAC people 2 days later after hearing nothing, they said they were still waiting on a landlord decision. Ultimately, the landlord went for the cheap fix, which was to replace the compressor. Only the air unit was so old, no compressor was made for that unit any more; so the HVAC people had to retro fit it. Moreover, instead of the proper fix of replacing the duct work, the HVAC people were told to patch the holes.In addition, I told them 2 or 3 times about my gutter above the back door being broken and hanging down. They didnt fix that even after I called and told them the subfloor in around my back door was rotted out, due to the water coming down from the gutter. It took them two months to fix that, and another two months to get shop at home carpets in there. I wont go into my experience with shop at home carpets, which was very poor also.Even after all that, I had to call back Select Property Management again to tell them there was water damage around the back window, from the same gutter that they had not fixed. And about 2 weeks before I moved out they finally sent some people to fix it.Select routinely hires people who will do cheap quick fixes, rather than businesses who will fix issues properly. This cost ultimately adds up to the renter in electrical, water, sewer, and/or gas bills.The last issue, was that I hired separate professional cleaning services for both the carpet and apartment...even though by my lease agreement I was not required to do so. They had the audacity to try and charge me extra money for extra cleaning that was not specified. Therefore, I basically told them to go to hell.I would never rent from them again, nor would I recommend others to do so.

LONG POST ALERT!! If you dont have time to read it then just take this first statement to heart... THERE IS NO WHERE BETTER IN BOWLING GREEN, KY TO RENT THAN SELECT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT!!!!! It was 100% move in ready the day I received my keys! No additional cleaning needed on my part!Some people are not lucky enough to find an AMAZING place to rent from! Trust me... Been there, done that! BUT Select Property Management is TOP NOTCH!!! I rented my 2 bedroom, 2 and a half bath duplex from SPM and I couldnt have asked for anything better!!*I mean seriously... How many people cry when they are returning their keys because they are moving out of town?!? THIS GIRL DID!*From the staff at the office, to the maintenance staff... They went above and beyond to make sure my experience with them was one to remember!!In the 2+ years I lived in my duplex, I had VERY few issues come up... But when they did, SPM never hesitated to help me out!! From a lock change (because I lost a key), to my microwave door not latching... I called and within an hour they were there!!!One afternoon I came home from visiting my parents... Rocky (maintenance man) was working on the landscaping. When he saw I was struggling to get everything inside and our sweet 9 pound puppy was ready for her walk, he took it upon himself to offer to walk her for me. From that day forward, anytime our puppy saw a SPM maintenance vehicle outside she got excited... He was her new best friend! :) And he made sure to ask how she was doing every time I saw him in the office! (Seriously guys... What man do you know that works as the Head Of Maintenance for a rental property, seeing 100s of tenants/rentals throughout the month, that takes the time to learn about a Tenants DOG!)Now... If there is a downfall (insert sarcasm), I never had a quick trip when going to pay my rent. Megan and the other ladies at the office of SPM were ALWAYS so welcoming, and because I like to talk a lot we would end up chatting about anything and everything!! Megan was there when I had exciting news, or when I had a bad day and needed a shoulder to cry on. Did I know her before I started renting from SPM? NO! Thats the type of people they are! They go out of their way to make you feel like part of their family.When it came time for my husband and I to move to Iowa, Rocky (maintenance man) was in the office the day I came to give them my notice. As I explained why we were moving and where I was going to the girls, he asked when I would be home next. I told him when I would be home that afternoon/evening! That evening I heard a knock at the door, (we werent expecting anyone and honestly I had forgot) and opened up the door to find him standing there with moving boxes for us... WOW! WOW!! WOW!!! Once again... WHO DOES THAT?!? Both my husband and myself were blown away!!As we packed up and started our long haul to Iowa, I had not seen the house that we would be living in... Scary I know! (I actually asked Megan if they could purchase a property in Iowa so we could continue to rent from them. ha) We arrived at a house, if you could even call it that, at 9:00PM that was NOT what had been shown to us through email, pictures, etc. We immediately begin to panic and decided that we would start a house hunt first thing the next morning. As soon as we woke up the next day I call Megan. I explained to her what had happened and asked if she had any advice for us. She told me to, Keep my spirits up and as soon as I found a place to give them SPMs number for a referral! Once again... WHO DOES THAT?!? SELECT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT... THATS WHO!!!So... Moral of the story, if you are looking for a place to rent in Bowling Green, KY, Select Property Management is the ONLY place to rent from!!! If I could have talked them into purchasing property where we moved, I would still be a tenant today!!!

I will never rent from this place again. They are insanely juvinile people to deal with. I am not even going to write about the all of the things that happened while I rented from here. I will stick to what has happened since Ive moved out.I have been hung up on and lied to multiple times concerning my deposit. I was not late a single month that I rented from them. Now, it is looking like I am going to have to waste my time in small claims court just to get back what is mine. So they can what? Draw a few more dollars of interest? I am going to make every effort to see that no one I know has to go through what I have gone through with Select Property Management. I wouldnt advise my worst enemy to rent from here. I would not doubt for a second that they had to change their name because of their previous business practices. You can take the girl out of the country, but you cant take the country out of the girl. This business is an absolute disgrace to Bowling Green.

Lousy maintenance of property. They dont do much. When you call and ask for service to be done (like changing a burnt-out street light bulb), its not done. We have been in the dark for two weeks now and continue to be without the street light. If you call them to change the bulb, they tell you that you have to contact their maintenance...we dont work for SPM, therefore, why should we call their maintenance.Tree branches along walkways are not cut.Property gates do not work. This is now third month that the gates stay open. Residents want the gates closed but they stay open. No repair.Two people were injured after walking on they walkways due to raised cement blocks that need to be repaired. Few are raised due to tree roots and need to be replaced. One person had to have a knee operation due to tripping on such block and another had a face injury.We are very unhappy with such lack of maintenance.
