Do not rent here!!! These landlords should be called slumlords. They do not do anything to help their renters and do the absolute bare minimum to keep up with basic maintenance. Took them over a month to fix a giant hole above my shower and their solution for fixing it was putting a wooden plank over it. They are very rude and help with absolutely nothing. They allowed one of my roommates to move out before even talking to me leaving me to pay their side of rent, even though I never agreed to this. Just make sure you do your research and read the reviews before picking a landlord, don’t say you were not warned

Carty Rentals have been the best landlords Ive ever had! They are quick to fix any problems that may occur and are extremely nice and friendly when you walk in the office. I wasnt able to afford a A/c unit for my apartment and they furnished one for me for free!!! Thank you Carty Rentals !!!!!

Shout out Emily Carty! Thank you for working with us. You were accommodating and helpful with working around the COVID-19 issues. You made it such a great customer experience. We appreciate it a lot.

Literally the worst rental company, never fixed our appliances on time or correctly. We pay for air conditioning, but it has been broken since early September now, still no word on when that will be fixed. We live on the first floor and dont feel safe opening up windows at night, so it is extremely hot and uncomfortable in our apartment and has been for a while now. Extremely rude, irresponsible, and unprofessional. Didnt notify me that my rent tracker direct deposit ended in July and then waited until almost October to tell me that I was late on rent. Do not rent through these terrible people.

1 star is generous to how bad of renters John Carty and Wendy are. I got my security deposit back last week and received $12 back out of the $300 I initially paid. They charged for 11 hours of cleaning at $25 an hour, $175 to paint over some spray paint in the garage even though she said it should be $50. (A lot of the spray paint was already there when we moved in.) They charged for screens that havent been replaced yet, blinds that werent there when we moved in, and stuff like light bulbs and other things that should be under the normal wear and tear clause in the lease. Once Wendy and I settled on getting back $210 from unnecessary charges, John walked in and decided it was all of a sudden up to me to pay $150 that my roommate owed from rent. Basically instead of continuing to go after her for it, I got to be the one to pay it at their convenience since we signed a joint lease.Aside from the security deposit, they were terrible renters throughout the year. Whenever my roommates or I would email them with multiple issues, they frequently ignored the questions they didnt want to answer. I asked for the potholes in the driveway to be filled at least 10 times, and it never happened. I asked for a key to the garage door so we could park our cars in it, and they gave me the wrong key. When I told them, they said theyd get to it and never did. We didnt get to use the garage at all for our cars the entire year. We also had to get our toilet fixed multiple times in one week before they finally replaced it.We had an appointment with Wendy in the evening one day before we even moved in, but after we signed the lease. We showed up and Wendy admitted she was drunk off of wine. She was also very disorganized with our paperwork the entire year.We paid way more than the property was worth, and they definitely overcharged for the end of the year cleaning. Overall, I wouldnt recommend renting with Carty Rentals. Theyre unprofessional, disorganized, rude, and very cheap.

I rented with Carty Rentals last school year. I am extremely satisfied with my experience and would recommend to anyone, especially someone who is in need of a school year lease. Wendy, who is their secretary, was always friendly and willing to help, as she was usually the primary contact when their was ever an issue. We did have a lot of Maintenance issues over the course of the year - all were immediately addressed and we were never charged for any of them. They furnished our house at no cost and also provided us with many things other rental companies in the area would have charged thousands for over the course of our lease. Sure I lost 20% of my security deposit, but I promise you I have rented with other companies before and they will not only take more than half your security deposit, but will not help you out when you have an issue and just tell you it is your problem. Its the simple things Wendy and John Carty did for us, replaced for us, or worked with us on that WELL outweighed losing 25 bucks on a security deposit. They take care of their houses and of their tenants. Extremely fair rent with a location close to campus, and a helpful staff. What more could someone want? My experience with Carty was great. And to the post below, you are welcome to view my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, whatever you choose. Not a fake post. I am allowed to write about my experience, which at all times was pleasant. You are more than welcome to do the same. But let me tell you that every rental company is the same when it comes to touring of the house. I live on N. Enterprise now, which is a location about 3 minutes from campus. (my backyard is the commuter lot). I have about 4 groups a day entering my house, and will probably continue to go through this for a few months until the house is rented. Maybe less, since it is a prime location, as your house on E. Merry is not as close at mine is to campus. But that is the way it is. Wendy is not rude, and I find it absolutely absurd you would write this review ESPECIALLY considering you are still renting from them!!! How rude!Your email to them was uncalled for. In the world of business, if you have an issue with someone, such as John, or Wendy, and you live ACROSS THE STREET FROM THEM?? I suggest you should speak with them directly, face to face, like mature adults do. Grow up. I guarantee your experience with Carty will surpass any other rental company in the area. Ive rented from them all!!I am a business student and know how business works. Youll learn you were more than lucky you chose to rent from Carty when it comes time to renting with another company. They are the only ones in the area not trying to make you bankrupt. Again, you are entitled to your own opinion, but just some food for thought..

Let me start this review in that the previous 5 star review posted is fake and was clearly endorsed by Carty Rentals themselves in that it is their only positive review. John Carty invites himself in your house and YOUR PERSONAL BEDROOM with his own keys for any reason. Jackie lived across the street from their office and the fact that she later went back to edit her review to refer to complaints made in mine over a year after her lease proves that point. Carry and Wendy reviewed their own business on Yelp with 5 stars. To call Wendy anything less than unpleasant at best means you got a 100% different experience than I and multiple other reviewers and tennents ever got.He peeks into your room when your doors closed on said visits and I would not recommend girls renting from him for that reason. His assistant Wendy is THE RUDEST woman I have ever had the absolute displeasure to work with and the fact that she represents Carty rentals is very fitting because the way they handle business is atrocious. The amount of profanity that this woman uses to initiate conversations with CUSTOMERS aka renters is just sad. No type of buisness skills, definitely no social ones either. No business worth anything would let her represent it let alone manage it when Carty isnt there. It took them from May 2015 to October to fix a screen on the front door they said would be fixed before we even signed our lease back when we were looking at the house in April 2015.Here is an email I had to send to Carty after he, for the 6th or 7th time, let himself into our house with strangers on an unannounced visit, even after we discussed in detail about how our privacy had been violated. Any You is a reference to Carty himself. We do not appreciate the multiple in week visits in which your force your way into our home. You did not mention the frequency, lack of consistency in the timing of visits or the demeanor in which you enter homes when we were prospective leasers. You simply have it stated that we may occasionally have to show our house. This is not an open house or an auction. This is a HOME purchased for 10 months at a set rate and ours for that time, not yours to enter at will when you see fit. This is not an open house in which you get to let people in at your discretion and without giving us the opportunity to even get out of bed to answer the front door before youre allowing yourself and strangers into our house and our personal bedrooms, regardless of an email in advance. You and your assistant do not knock and give time to get to the door in a timely manner, as you enter milliseconds after knocking. She has been consistently rude and unprofessional and she often resorts to using profanity and being confrontational. You peek your head into the closed and personal bedrooms of tennents both there and absent without waiting to be let in the house at all. Thats just rude and rather pervasive. We also will need to set up one day on the week and one on the weekend in which you can show our house To have the expectation that you can walk into our house with strangers, without being allowed in by one of us and on a schedule completely outside of our control ANY WAY, EVERY WEEK is ludicrous, an invasion of privacy, false advertising and for all intents and purposes, trespassing. This point was brought to your attention last time you walked in our house unannounced and uninvited by me. If it happens again we will look into the legality of your intrusions into our house and our personal bedrooms, especially when we have guests and it was brought to your attention more than once. The way youre handling your business does not suggest you look to impress prospective renters, retain your current renters, or make your current renters feel comfortable suggesting to others that your properties are worth the trouble. Youve shown a great lack of courtesy so far during this lease, hopefully your attitude towards your customers, their privacy, and possessions change for the better over the course of the remainder of our lease.
