Ive seen that other Groupon customers have had negative things to say, but my experience was good. I scheduled for first thing in the morning and waited just under an hour for state & emissions tests, and a full synthetic oil change to be completed. Prices were competitive, especially for a locally owned shop. Thorough, clean, professional, and timely. I cant be mad at that.

I had a groupon for car inspection. Brought car in for my appointment in the am. It was 30 degrees out. The waiting room was empty. I was told I couldn t wait there, because the waiting room was for 10-15 min. Oil changes. They told me they would not service me. I got a groupon refunded and went somewhere else who took me quickly and professionally. Inspection took less than an hr.

So I went here thinking that my car would pass inspection since I went to a different place before to get a quote. I went here with a GROUPON, I drop off the car the night before the inspection.The next day, they called me telling me I have to replace sway bar links, sway bar bushings, and control arm bushings. Basically $760 of my money in their pocket. So I’m like okay well I’m gonna pick it up before I make any financial decisions. I get my car back (days later realizing that they didn’t even offer to show me the problems) I order parts online (because their parts are way more expensive than the ones on the internet), and me and my dad try to replace them ourselves since I don’t have that money coming out of my ears (I’m trying to save money for college). We unscrew a few bolts and we see that the bushings are PERFECTLY fine. Non-rusted, non cracked, perfectly shaped bushings (the sway bar links did need replacing, so they got one thing right). Me and my dad (who is a mechanic for years (he rebuilt his entire red 1980 mustang with aftermarket parts) and less likely to screw me over with overpriced parts and labor) were like what the hell these bushings do not need to be replaced. Thank God I didn’t have this shop make me pay them $780 for them to replace PERFECT conditioned bushings. I then go to my car’s dealership and I ask them to do an inspection for me (NOTE that I already paid this shop to do an inspection test and also another one before the dealership to really discover who was screwing me over). They say, and I quote, “you don’t need to replace the bushings of the control arm or the sway bar, they look fine to me”. Well I knew that already I just wanted to get a “professional quote” because that’s what these shops look for and not “the customer’s dad quote”. So please use discretion when you come here. They could be tearing $500+ from your perfectly stacked wallet for absolutely nothing. Also ask to see with your own eyes what’s wrong with your car. That was a mistake of mine. Hope this helped.

In the past few weeks, we have taken both of our vehicles to JMJ to be inspected. My vehicle (older model Subaru) ended up needing new brakes, and the total was very reasonable. We had two awesome experiences - very professional and nice, very timely in both instances, and a super easy overall experience. Will definitely return!

Great experience. Would have no reservations about bringing a vehicle to this shop again.I brought my MR2 Spyder in for state inspection. Judging from the reviews, like many people, I discovered this shop because of a GroupOn deal. Never tried any GroupOn thing before. But even though JMJ was a little out of the way for me, it was a deal that seemed too great to pass up, so I wanted to give it a try.Setting up an appointment was easy, and the mechanic I spoke to was helpful and courteous. Dropped my vehicle off the night prior to my appointment, and I received a call that everything had passed by around 10 AM the next morning. The staff even helped me redeem my voucher when my phone was having issues.It was about a 35 minute drive for me, but it was well worth it.

Since we moved to Bethel Park, JMJ has been our go-to for anything with our vehicles. We originally found them through a Groupon and theyve been amazing. Ive gotten brakes replaced on 3 vehicles with them, inspections, all my oil changes, etc. They are honest and upfront and those are the two most important qualities to me. Jim and the crew at JMJ are top notch.

Jim and his staff was more that accommodating, per my busy schedule, and his mechanic, Ernie did a fantastic job looking over the entire truck with a fine tooth comb. Glad I took it there because they found so many issues that otherwise may have not been noticed by me or anyone else not familiar with vehicles. I feel that if it wasnt for their fine attention to details, I would be driving around in a death trap. I would highly recommend Jim and his staff to anyone in the area looking for a top-notch, reliable, and trustworthy shop with a friendly staff. Brothers Matt and Jim are WONDERFUL! They run a very fair, honest and experienced business! I stumbled on them by chance when I searched for a mechanic a little over a year ago. I couldn’t be happier and will never go anywhere else! Not just because they do a great and honest job but because they truly care about their customers. I’ve used them only a few times this past year and they remember me when I call! My recent experience sealed the deal... my teenage daughter has an older car and the breaks were grinding bad … it turns out her front calibers failed. Matt spent the time to explain in detail what went wrong and what was needed to get the car back shape .. and for a very fair price! The customer service didn’t stop there .. when we picked up the car, they actually took the time to give my daughter a little coaching. They explained to her what happened and what sounds to listen for should it happen again. It was above and beyond! NOT WORTH THE GROUPON. Please save your money. These people are scam artists. They attempt to take advantage of young females who seem not to know much about cars. This was my second year going to them for an inspection and emissions test, the first time was completely fine (I happened to have my father with me that time). This time they told me that I needed hundreds of dollars in repairs. I dont trust anyone, but at first I was worried and I asked for an itemized list of everything that needed fixed to pass and I left. I went and got two new tires. Next, I took my vehicle to my regular repair shop. I am so thankful for them. They told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car! They informed me that JMJ had attempted to scam me. After looking through my receipts, I even had one of the most expensive things that they told me I needed to replace, replaced less than a year prior. Do not trust these people. Always hold on to your receipts. If something seems wrong, get a second opinion.

I had a need of tire service for tires already off the car. Handled my service quickly. I will be back in the future.

I have been using JMJ since they opened. Last year had a full engine replacement in which they did a great job and was done in a timely manner. They recommended parts but did not force them down your throat. I have my oil changed there every three months and it is also done very quick. Whenever I have a issue with my car they get me right in and diagnose the problem but are not the type that force the sale on you. They give you their price (it has always been under other garages) and tell you whenever you are ready to schedule to call them. The mechanic is very good at what he does and has never lead me in the wrong direction. The customer service is top notch compared to other places. I actually have my car up there at this moment having some warranty work done on it and Jim fit me right into the schedule so it was done right away. I would recommend all to this garage as they have great customer service and stand behind their work and parts.

JMJ is the ONLY place I trust with my car. I have been going here for over 5 years and have never had any problems. They are always willing to work around my very busy schedule. A few months ago I thought the brakes on my car needed changed from the way they felt. I called the shop and they told me to come down and they would check them for me. I brought my car in and my brakes were fine. They told me I should change them in a few months, but I did not need to worry about them now. Well, a few months have gone by and I just got them changed. This shop is by far the most honest and reliable shop I have ever gone to! I highly recommend them!!

I bought a Groupon to get an oil change, inspection and emissions test. I have a 2017 Chevy Traverse that failed inspection for “cracked brake pads”. My husband said that they were just trying to sell me extra stuff to take it somewhere else. So today I took it to the Chevy dealership where it passed just fine. Sooooo....... Not sure what to say other than be careful and get a 2nd opinion if they tell you something is wrong. Personally I feel like this business tries to take advantage of females who know nothing about cars to sell them things they don’t need under the pretense your car “is not safe”. I guess you get what you pay for. I should have read the reviews on here, yelp and Groupon first. Save your money and go to some place that’s honest.

I got a Groupon for an inspection and emissions testing. It only cost me $28. Best deal in town, and they always take me 1st thing in the morning, because I come from the North Hills area. Its worth the drive.

Was quoted for a $30 promotion for my car inspection, they charged me $40.30 and yelled at me and said “you are busting my chops.”A quoted price is a quoted price, I do not recommend dealing with them after not honoring a quote.

I just visited JMJ Automotive & Express Lube for my inspection and oil change yesterday. The service was outstanding!! I have never experienced a group of guys who are so accommodating, obviously skilled in their profession and in addition super polite when gaining car service. I feel very fortunate to have taken the recommendation from coworkers to take my car service needs to this particular shop. I cant imagine taking my car to another place, I feel complete peace of mind that they are doing the right thing and then willing to explain all of the work to me.The owner at this location is a true resource, in addition a really nice guy, who obviously hires guys so similar to himself. It makes car service which could be intimidating to many, actually a pleasure. I would highly recommend JMJ Automotive.

A total RIP OFFI bought a groupon for safety & state inspection & Jimmy told me $650 brakes & at least 2 tires. I asked him to put things back as it is after just an oil change (which he overcharged me). Down the road went to another garage & got everything done & drove a full year (20 K miles). Hence the condition of brakes & tires were not good in JMJ auto but another garage had minor concern. Please beware of the ratings too since those can also be manipulative.

I used the Groupon to get the emissions and inspection done recently. I was worried at first about some of the reviews that say they try to rip you off, but Im going to go out on a limb and assume they had issues and just didnt want to admit it. The customer area is clean, along with the whole facility from what I can see. My inspection and emissions were done quickly, and I was called as soon as it was done. The employees were nice when I walked in, and I cant complain about a thing. And...they carry Amsoil, so they know the good stuff too.

SCAM. I bought an inspection and emissions test from GROUPON. DO NOT DO THIS. They failed me for an inspection of all four rotors and brake pads saying they were pitted, and the brake pads were sticking to my rotors..... I didnt believe them and wanted a second opinion. GOOD THING I WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE. Not only was the inspection HALF THE PRICE.... My car passed with flying colors. Not only did they say my rotors and brakes passed and were just fine, they also said they were NEW!! And no I did not get new brakes within the week between these two inspections. Thats just crazy. DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF. They also even admitted to marking up their parts more that 50%!!I know the owner will reply and try to persuade you like he has with all of his other reviews (very funny how he is blaming the CUSTOMERS in each one of the honest negative reviews), however PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. Very unprofessional and rude.

Ive had multiple oil changes and many other services completed by JMJ Automotive. The oil changes have always been quick, fair priced and included air pressure checks and interior vaccuuming. I recently had a State Inspection that required additional work in order to meet state requirements. The staff at JMJ offered pricing on things that were required and also some items that were recommended but not required at this time. The prices on both parts and service were very reasonable. Additionally, they did not try to push having the recommended items completed. I will definitely make them my first stop for future needs.

I dont do very many reviews. But I have to say this has to be one of the most dishonest places Ive ever been to. They failed my car for inspection, which is understandable. They wanted me to pay $300 per strut for the front both sides. After telling them I didnt believe this was an issue, they told me ok, well you can just replace one then. Which again seemed very strange. So I called other auto places and they told me they would never EVER advise someone to replace just 1. They then told me if I took it somewhere else to get fixed, they would charge me the full price of the inspection again. I have a brother-in-law who does car inspections and I took my car to him and he looked at my struts and said theres no way he wouldnt have passed them (95min drive).I had a friend who came here on the groupon deal as well and it took her husband going in and arguing with them before they said ok, youre right we can pass it. I didnt think itd happen to me but it did.The customer service wasnt horrible (again probably to try and earn your trust) but some of the most dishonest people Ive ever worked with. I will never do business with them again and I will make sure anyone I know, never does business here.

Scheduled appointment, arrived 10 minutes early, waited half an hour for service and then owner says he scheduled me for a week later than I requested. Never fixed his mistake and I left without service and will never return. Company sucks and owner has no customer service skills. Waste of space and humanity.

Fast an Fair. I had a rusted out leaking fuel filter and line on my car . I called at 830 am for a quote. Dropped it off at 945 and had it done by 11am. No surprises or unfair charges. Will go back again.

I dont normally write reviews but Im so happy with my experience here I wouldnt feel right not writing one.I went to JMJ for an inspection and oil change. He called me and told me my front brakes were rusted, hot and very worn. I explained to Jim that Ive had them done (I use quotes because now that I think about it, I think the previous shop, Woltz and Wind Ford in Heidelberg, didnt change them or used terrible parts) twice in the past year and the front brakes as recently as 6 months ago. I was very frustrated that I had to get them done again and that came across a little on the phone. Jim not only stayed patient with me but listened to what I said and gave me good, honest feedback. Other shops, and most other businesses for that matter, may tune out a frustrated customer and even be confrontational back. His patience was true customer service.After he replaced the brakes, he showed me what he described on the phone in the old brakes and rotors. I am very pleased with how my car rides after JMJ serviced it. They even vacuumed the inside and I didnt even notice until the next day when my friend said my car looks very clean. Doing things without boasting or seeking acknowledgement shows real integrity and character.The combination of customer service and skill at your craft is what makes a good business and builds a loyal customer base. I will DEFINITELY be going to them in the future and would recommend them to anyone, not only in the South Hills/Bethel Park area but in Pittsburgh. I wish them the best.Edit: After reading other reviews I see that some people are very unhappy and seem to have similar experiences to what Ive had with other shops. I cant speak to theirs but if I have any negative experiences with JMJ in the future I will modify my review, but the first one was great.

I dropped of my car with a for inspection the night before. The next day Jim had called me and told me I needed one new front rotor, and told me that I would be charged either $350 for brakes and rotor or $245 for the rotor. He then stated the only thing my vehicle needed to pass inspection. Knowing that the brakes were replaced less than 2 months ago, I decided to get a second opinion. I arrived to pick up my vehicle, Jim told me that he passed my vehicle for emissions but not for the inspection. I told him that Ill have it fixed then would return. He then told me that I had would need to purchase another Groupon if I chose to bring it back.I was fine with all of this until I drove my vehicle from their lot. About 3/4 of the way home, I looked at my passenger side door and noticed a large bluish oil stain on the interior or the door. I immediately called the shop. I spoke with Jim, I ask who was in my car. He told me no one. I advised him thats not possible as the stain clearly outlines finger prints on the handle of the door and on over half of the arm rest of the passenger side. He asked me to come back and hes show the surveillance footage of his shop. I then asked thats good when the vehicle is on your property, but how do I know someone wasnt picked up off your property when the car was driven. He had no answer. I agreed to turn around and sit in traffic and construction to show him what had been done. I was about 10 minutes from my home at this point. Reluctantly I turned around and to my shock, my vehicle made this loud grinding noise from the front right side. This is the same side that Jim said he had worked on and had removed the wheel. Weighing my options I decided to drive the vehicle home where its been sitting since. The grinding noise nor the grease stain were there before my vehicle was dropped off but was clearly evident after pick up. I arrived home immediately looked at my car and saw the plastic under carriage hanging from my car. At this point I was (still am) furious. Because it was a holiday weekend 1:30 and he stated to me earlier that they left at 2. I decided that it was best that I wait until Tuesday to call back. At this point I felt that my vehicle after being in JMJ Automotives possession I felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive with the brake and steering issue.This morning I called their shop and left a message for Jim to call me back. I explained the above to him verbatim and why I didnt come back on Saturday. He wouldnt let me get a word in edge wise. I asked if he would be willing to either come to my home to see for himself, of have someone come pick up the vehicle or tow it to his shop. I was professional with Jim. I just wanted my car fixed. Jims response to my request was, I aint doin none of that! You either drive your car back to my shop or Im not working on it. I told him that the vehicle is unsafe and the sound that its making and should not be driven or may damage the car more. Jim became extremely adversarial, flippant and began to cuss at me. I asked him, Why are you swearing at my? He then stated, You know what?!?! Dont come back, you, your car or anyone better not bring your car back here! You have a vehicle with 150K miles on it. Anything can happen its not like your vehicle has 15K miles on it. I bet if your brake line exploded that youd blame that on us too?! I said, Well you did have my car and it ran perfectly fine before you supposedly worked on it.Jim then told me to have a nice day and promptly hung up the phone on me.Im not going to keep on and on. I have pictures to prove my case.I would not recommend anyone go there EVER. They dont do good work.

Had my car worked on there. They told me my car needed wheel bearings for $1,300 when I told them the car wasnt worth that much they offered to buy it, shady? I ended up getting Firestone to replace both bearings and did an oil change for $650 out the door. STAY AWAY TOTAL RIP OFF!!
