This place is great. A little expensive but I think it’s worth it. It’s easy to make appointments and they do quick, quality, honest work.

Nice and quick service. Dropped my c30 off for a coolant flush/reservoir replacement and was able to have it done in about an hour. Higher prices can be expected from a specialty shop, but you get what you pay for- which is quality care and the peace of mind that no corners will be cut. I will be taking my Volvo here for tasks I am not confident I can do on my own from now on.

Bruce listened to our questions, reported back promptly and made the repairs as we get ready for a cross-country trip. The office is really tidy as is the repair area. Very professional. Highly recommended.

This place is great! After a couple weeks of searching they were able to replace my Subaru Forester engine and do a couple other repairs for literally half the price that other places were quoting me and they finished a day earlier then they estimated they would! Definitely will be going here from now on for bigger service needs.

These guys are great. I went in for a second opinion on a major repair which would have been a great opportunity to create work for themselves. Instead they were candid with me and advised that they didnt think the repair the dealer called for was necessary. In fact they advised that they would no have even noted it on a service visit. This is pretty darned impressive!

First time using Ackerman’s for my 2002 S60 Volvo. I usually take it to the dealership in Walnut Creek. Bruce was super nice and although I did not have an appt he still got my car in and fixed the power steering with a full check up as well all on the same day. Amazing. Ackermans found and fixed the problems that were causing my 25 year-old Volvo 850 to stall under different symptoms. Another reputable Volvo specialist had worked on the car 4 times over a two month period at $1500 without success. Ackermans Service Managers and mechanic Ronnie showed me their troubleshooting process, which I understood, at significant points, and I was impressed with their skills and workmanship. They also advised me about unrelated critical work that clearly needed to be done. Their personnel are professional, personable, highly skilled and have a clean and safe working environment. I received good value for the services rendered. This is my shop for future repairs.

2008 Volvo S60 AWD. I had the car for close to a year before experiencing a terrible time diagnosing an engine that was losing power. It took months from November 2019 to March 31, 2020 to find an answer. Upon researching a few repair options in mid-March, I finally found a solution. Ackerman V&S listened to my experience, tested a few things and quickly diagnosed the actual problem that might have even been happening prior to my purchase of the car in 2018. Now a car I thought I had to almost abandon for a new car and payment was brought back to full life under their care and professionalism. I am a new fan and customer for the life of this car, no question.

I needed help with installation of a replacement side-view mirror for an old Outback. Small job, but the dealer wouldnt touch it. Ackermans fixed the issue and didnt want to charge (though it took 20-30 mins of work), though I insisted. Weve had them do other work in the past, including troubleshooting en electrical problem that had puzzled other mechanics. First rate business.

I do most of my own work. When I dont, I only go to this shop. After over 30 years I can still say this place is tops. They are honest, friendly and fair. Their prices are in line or better than their competition (Ive checked), and they get it right. They are problem solvers. Use this shop and get it done right the first time.

I brought my Subaru outback here based on the positive reviews...they serviced my car and then told me I needed a new brake caliber and new throttle sensor. Both true, but their estimate was EXTREMELY OVERPRICED! They even exaggerated the part costs- a part that clearly costs $180 on the subaru website (I asked for the part number), they said cost $250. Overall, they estimated the two (pretty minor) repairs would cost $1260. I picked up my car and had it done elsewhere for less than $500! If you are looking for a reasonably priced repair place, this is definitely not it.

The best Volvo service ever! Our car had a mysterious issue with stalling for years that even official dealership couldnt fix. And Akermans did! They are also very honest about the cost of repair and will tell you up front if its not worth repairing certain issues if vehicles condition is such that it will require much more spendings for repairs in the near future.

Weve been going to Ackermans for years and have always been satisfied with the care and consideration weve received. Recently I brought in my 1990 Volvo 740 for a check-up (prior to going to Burning Man) and for a questionable transmission. The transmission turned out to be shot, and this was 4 days before I was planning to leave, Bruce searched high and low, found a rebuilt transmission, at a reasonable price and had my car back to me a day earlier than promised, because he knew how desperate I was. As long as I own a car, I will take it to this shop.

My wife and I are from out of town. Her 2006 XC70 developed a problem. The engine light came on and the car had no power. We needed to leave town by noon to come home. Bruce Ackerman was able to squeeze us in at 8:15 am and we were on the road with a new fuel air sensor (Genuine Bosch) by 10:30 am. I am really impressed with Ackermans and it is easy to see why they have been in business for so long.

When everyone else in the area wasnt able to get me in to see them in less than a week, these folks were able to see me in a few days. They replaced my alternator and the battery and lights that had been blown out when the alternator began overcharging everything. I cant recommend them enough.

I stumbled into Ackerman a couple of years ago. I wanted someone familiar with Subarus. Since that initial visit, I continue to go back. They are not in my backyard and it takes effort to go there. I do this because of their service & integrity. I highly recommend.

I had an issue with my trunk no longer locking, so that I couldnt keep anything valuable in the car. I called a couple places for a quote about a repair, and another place quoted me $100-250 just to take a look at the problem before replacing anything. I left a voicemail at Ackermans and Adam called me back right away; he troubleshooted with me over the phone and found the problem! It saved me a trip to the service center and a lot of money. Bruce and his crew are everything a repair shop should be: knowledgeable, friendly, and well priced. It doesnt hurt that they are also community friendly and seem to always go the extra mile for customer service. I dropped my 93 Volvo wagon off for repairs before the holidays and Bruce met me on NYE day, even though they were technically closed. My car was waiting warmed up and toasty right when I said Id be there. Turns out one of the repairs was a little trickier and I found the same problem still occurring after I picked it up. I took it back the next day and they repaired it for free and even had the car washed and detailed as a kind gesture for not getting it the first time. I understand that cars are tricky and even experienced mechanics make mistakes. The car is driving like a dream!

What I like about these guys is that they actually call you as soon as they finish servicing your car. I have now used them twice for my 2017 Subaru Forester and plan on coming back.

Do you trust your mechanic? To me thats the reason to keep returning to a shop. Weve all had the experience of wondering if a repair was really necessary or if the real problem was fixed. I have been taking my car to Ackermans for the last ten years because I trust Bruce and his crew. They find the problems, they fix the problems and they dont fix stuff that isnt broken.
