Great service. The hard drive on my laptop died and I needed to replace it. I was able to get 3 out of the 4 screws holding the hard drive out by myself, but the last screw was too badly stripped for me to remove myself. I took the laptop to these guys, and they removed the bad screw and replaced the bad drive with the new one for me (I provided the new drive). Very fast and great service

Wife tossed me my phone across the couch and cracked my MacBook Pro. Went to these guys next day. $650 cash paid in full prior to even having the screen repaired and being able to see that the repair was right. Told me a time for parts to arrive and how long after that it’d take to be repaired. I was fine w the info given. A week later the part still hadn’t arrived. I run a business from my laptop and made a decision based on the info given to me by the staff here. Well the parts took a few extra days. Understandable. My issue is with the customer service. Me personally, if someone gave me almost $1k with no hassle, no asking why so much, etc, then i would keep them up to date if the timeframe changes. That’s just me though. I will admit that when began to get upset w the time, they attempted to correct the issue by letting me pickup my laptop and an external screen so that i could still work. That gesture was for sure appreciated, but the sour taste in my mouth is from the lack of communication. My only advice; get better on communicating with customers, because word of mouth advertising is your best resource, and I’m sure you want THE BEST words being spoken about your establishment. I appreciate the repair, just wish the communication coulda been better for what I paid, upfront prior to any work being done. I’d recommend their services, I would just caution that you are verbal about your expectations when doing business with them, because they wouldn’t hold back from making their expectations known. Oh and the lady that works there seems like she’s got an attitude problem, but that’s just my opinion.

I never knew about this repair place until yesterday when I saw the Apple logo on the door. And coincidentally, my phone went craaazy hours later. We took our Lenovo to them, even though they are a Mac repair location they were more than willing to look at it and diagnose the issue. They told us we needed to replace the hard drive. They charged me $44 dollars to tell me I need to add 1TB of space which would cost me almost $400 , then I informed them I have nothing taking up space on my laptop so then they said, well you can do a half a TB, then I said no thanks and they told me my hard drive was failing. If my hard drive was failing why would you allow me to invest $400 into a computer thats going to expire, they couldve told me it was the hard drive from the beginning but instead tried to make a sale first

Had a serious issue after updating macOS to Big Sur. They were able to quickly diagnose the issue and offer options for repair within 24 hour. The technicians fixed my computer well, was expensive but all my data got saved. There was a lot of miscommunication between the front office and the repair people which stressed me out but in the end the result was worth some of the confusion. Would recommend.

Some of the reviews on here seem more to be about people that are spoiled with retail pricing. What I mean is; if you want to spend top dollar for new equipment, go do that. Dont expect a repair shop to give you NEW retail products at a discount just because its local.I had my Mac diagnosed and they helped me two straight days in a row and even gave me a deal on a new computer.Please dont pick on small local businesses. Is any business perfect? No. And, if youre any type of intelligent person youd know that the bigger the business the less they have to lose if you leave a review with a bad attitude. But when you do that to small local business, you can kill it. Try to help them improve, not slander.I recommend them. They are easy to work with and will shoot you straight.

I was afraid that Id lost my lifes work when my old HD crashed. After calling several data repair companies that seemed to lack any skill, concern, or compassion, I called these guys on a whim. Not only were they 1/2 the price of all the others, but they took a same day appointment, fixed my issue in under 4 days, and were extremely kind/caring. I highly recommend them for data recovery and computer repair.

I was in a total panic when I woke up to a black screen that would not activate. I thought I may have lost everything. I went on line and saw good reviews for Austin MAC repair and called and they were great from the get go. I ended up getting lost and Jim guided me there and was waiting outside to flag me down. It turned out to be a video card problem and this desk topic was old and I was in the market for a new one. Jose diagnosed the problem and called me quickly. He assured me that my hard drive was in tact and was a really good one. So he transferred all of my data to an external drive and saved the day for me. I did not lose anything. MacBook Air battery was dying for weeks (months) and Apple had a 2-4 week turnaround time just to replace it. I found the shop online, gave them a call, they checked their inventory while I was on the phone to confirm they had a battery in stock and I had same day turnaround. And my MacBook was clean and sanitized when I picked it up- bonus!

When your work horse laptop quits on you and you need help immediately, this is the place to go. Within two hours I had a new hard drive installed, and after myself back- imaging the drive with Carbon Copy Cloner I was back up and running after another 2 hours. Very fast service and competent and friendly people. I will recommend AMR to others in particular when you need help NOW.

When is the cost of a “diagnostic” not subtracted from the total cost of a repair? When Austin Mac Repair calls it a “Liquid Spill “Diagnostic””. I can see why this company has a 2 star rating on Yelp and only 3.5 star rating on google. I should have done my homework on this company before using them. They did repair my MacBook Air in under a 24hr period and they would have gotten a rave review from me if, I had not felt like I was mislead or misinformed. The lady that processed my repair, when I dropped off the computer and checked me out when I picked it up told me that they always make it very clear that the cost of the “Liquid Spill Diagnostic” does not apply towards the cost of the repair. But she herself did not explain that to me and the gentleman that took my initial call did not either. In the end we agreed to disagree but I will not be using their services in the future.

Called to see if a specific 3rd party adapter was is stock and confirmed a price of 49.99.  They had it so I said I was on the way to get it.  On arrival I repeated that I wanted the 3rd party adapter and a rep pulled one in a plastic bag from a drawer.  At the register he told me it was 74.99. I said that was the price of the Mac brand and that I wanted the cheaper 3rd party adapter.  He asked another man in an office and he said it was 74.99 and that the 3rd party adapter was only available online and could be to me within 2 days.  I said that I needed it today and had just called and specifically asked about it.  With attitude he said sorry I wasted my time coming all the way over.  I just left, drove a few more miles to a Best Buy, spent the 79.99 they wanted for the name brand, and had service without attitude.  I like to give the local guy a chance but I should have looked at the reviews first, this seems typical.Side note....odd they sell an official Mac product out of the box and for $5 cheaper than other retailers.  Wonder if Mac endorses this?

I never leave reviews. However, I feel compelled to after my experience with Austin Mac Repair. Every service technician I dealt with was great- they explained everything thoroughly and called me to tell me when things were finished. I even had to bring my laptop back in because they forgot to connect something during the repair, which was fine. What was NOT fine was the woman who appears to be the receptionist/accounts manager/head of customer service. Every time I went in, four times, she snapped at me and was extremely rude. Even when I asked simple questions, I couldnt even believe how unprofessional she was. I spent $500 here, but she acted as if I was a nuisance customer who was trying to get away with something. I meant to ask her name, however every time I went in she was so terrible that I almost left crying. I would consider going back to this place based on service, but I NEVER will because of this woman. And I will clearly tell everyone I know to also avoid it. If you cannot have decent customer service, you do not deserve honest business.

My 8 year Mac had the black screen of death over the weekend. I took it in Monday right after they opened; they called me back before noon explained the problem and resolution. I was able to get it back Thursday morning; I could have got it Wednesday but I worked that day. The price was reasonable. They also took my backup drive and loaded it. When I came in to pick up they booted up the computer and went over everything with me ensuring every thing was in working order. Very pleased with the results; hope to have it another few years. I took 2 macbook pros , one 17 2009 with a known bad display and a 2011 that wont boot to user , to be checked. They took 2 days work on them and the answer was that the logic board was bad on both . When i asked for details, no further details were shared. They charged me 80$ for NOTHING. I knew that the 17 had a bad display light issue, but not the logic board. I DO NOT recommend this place at ALL...STAY AWAY.

I called and asked about iphone 6s plus screen repair. The guy on the phone told me they only use original apple parts. When I showed up the part that he showed me was an after market screen. Why did he lie? Also, they wanted to charge me $160 to do the repair. Apple only charges $170, and the screen is original from apple. I just went to the apple store instead.

In short:1. I was charged 90 dollars for them to tell me that the hard drive that they installed wouldnt fix the problem that I had.2. They would not take back a broken refurbished external drive I bought from them that cost 150 dollars.3. When I tried to explain to them that the new hard drive they installed made my computer significantly worse. They insulted me, harassed me, told me I was making trouble. I had to insist they give me a receipt and they charged me to put my old hard drive back into my computer.4. They admitted that they knew the hard drive they installed wouldnt solve my problem, but didnt call me to tell me this when they were installing it. Instead they installed it and guessed I wouldnt notice.They are just interested in selling you a hard drive, not solving your computer problems and they will yell at you if you dare try to say it doesnt work. Then they will not give you a full refund until they can take out a huge overpriced chunk for a diagnostic that doesnt diagnose anything. RUN AWAY!

Brought my S6 phone in at 3:00 p.m. when the screen was black and the LED was flashing, and they had the LCD replaced and the phone ready and waiting for me when I came back a couple hours later.Would definitely recommend them for phone repairs!

This place will take your money!!! After going to Austin Mac repair to format my hard drive, they called me and said that it could not be done and that I would have to replace my hard drive. I agreed, but when I got my old hard drive home and stuck it in an external hard drive case, I was able to format it and it works perfectly. The shop said too bad for me because I agreed they that could replace it. I paid over $400 for something that wasnt necessary! If they really couldnt fix it, then they dont know what they are doing and I would take you computer someplace else for that reason alone...

UNFRIENDLY, UNFAIR, NOT PROFESSIONAL, NOT WHAT I CONSIDER EXPERTS, OVERPRICED. I needed a new laptop battery for my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro. I had an employee and one of the technicians helping me when I bought the battery (sounds good right?). I looked in the box and asked if they were sure it was the right one, and they looked again in their computer and verified it. I trusted that they were the experts. I needed the battery before a trip the next day, so was willing to pay the higher price to have it the same day. When I got home and opened up my laptop, it was obviously the wrong battery (I had a Retina model). I had not opened anything in the battery package (it was in a sealed bag) and went in the next morning to return it. They acted surprised and said Yeah thats the year they changed things, if they knew that, why didnt they ask me that when I questioned whether it was the right battery? They then informed me theyd have to charge me a 20% restocking fee because now the completely unopened, SEALED battery would be have to be sold used (yeah right), which I felt was unfair under the circumstances and refused. I was instructed that it was company policy (that I was not informed of when purchasing), and I asked who I could speak to. The guy that helped me the day before went back to talk to apparently the guy in charge (the technician from the day before) which just ended up in a quick verbal exchange across the room (he wouldnt even come over and talk to me) in which he just said it was buyers remorse and sat back down. I didnt want them to make another dollar off of reselling that battery at a higher price so I took the battery and left. I have several friends with Macs so Id rather gift the battery than let them make another overpriced sell on it, most probably as a new battery BECAUSE IT IS STILL NEW AND COMPLETELY PACKAGED! AND this is the second time Ive had a bad experience with them (different employees) and have been treated unfairly so from now on I am steering clear of that place!!

I dropped my laptop off at the store, late afternoon on 9-10-2012 for repair. They replaced the hard drive and add some memory. They called me on 9-11-2012 around 1 pm to say that the work was completed and it was ready to go! UNBELIEVABLE, LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I have waited longer for some places to return my call. I picked it up around 2:30 took it home to check it out. Everything worked perfect! Price was right, turn around time was really fast, and they were friendly. What more could you ask for?

This place will STEAL your computer! We left a laptop just before leaving on vacation. We CALLED them and told them it would be more than 30 days before we could pick up the computer. When we went to pick it up we were told that they would charge us for labor or take the computer in exchange for the labor. When we asked about other options (politely but firmly) we were told if we didnt like it that he was calling security unless we vacated the premises immediately WITHOUT the computer!!! Doesnt the Bible, which the owner presumably embraces, state Thou shall not steal?

Wow so far I am Super offended and also shocked on there ethics and how they do business. So I am new in Austin area. I decided to sell a Apple Mac Book Air. Listen I know what their value is, but there were several factors, on why they offered 100.00 dollars. I did not have a charger, there was a small crack on case, oh it was completely locked out of iCloud locked. Yes. I spent 2 hours as he went in and did a diagnosistic test, checked the serial number. So at the end this greedy shady middle aged man, offers a hundred dollar check. I accept. I had no proper identification! I simply came in out of state. In fact I stepped out side for a second, as I walked back in , the guy then accussed me of un screwing the screws out of the bottom of laptop. That way he could haggle some more. I stated this is a used laptop your lucky its just 100 dollars. Any ways so heres the kicker. I cashed the check. My day moves forward.I check my voicemail. Hes on my voicemail saying some non sense back door, back Ally non sense about the computer was locked with iCloud. So he put a hold on the check.Oh no. Oh no. Dealing with stolen property, felony grand theft, accepting stolen property. What the hell dude stop it, are you kidding me.???

Lately we are getting threats to lower a persons bill or they will write a bad review. We accept good and bad reviews. Based upon our internal study less than 1/4 of 1 Percent of our clients are unhappy and may write a review. It is true that some people just break down and go a bit crazy when their computers or cars go down. We are nice people and have a monthly success rate over 97%. We have the fastest turn around times and lowest prices for many of the most common repairs or upgrades. Thank you for visiting us.

Got my keyboard/top shell replaced after a minor spill, they did a great job. I dropped it off the day I spilled on it, and they were able to have it back to me the next afternoon. Labor charge was pretty cheap.

Do NOT waste your time trying to work with this store. I was told I could get $100 for my MacBook Pro by this store over the phone. I have my husband take it in to sell it and this guy Jose decided to try to low ball us even more by offering $25. He also tried to state it was bc my mouse was not working properly due to water damage. A complete lie! My laptop is in perfect shape. No water damage, no cracks in the screen etc.

I have to say, this is my first time in my entire life that Ive recieved excellent customer service, and assistance from an apple repair company. All thanks to Brandon Cole. He was a great help in repairing my iMac. He was completely respectful and provided great customer service. Also, he completed the task in a timely manner. My iMac is now back to great shape.

These people are in the business of ripping people off. They do unauthorized services and then charge you for them. The customer service is horrendous, it is almost like they are more interested in getting your money that leaving you satisfied. I dont see how this is a good business practice, instead of having customers recommend them they put themselves in a position to lose future sales by word of mouth. I had a heavily distorted display on my MacBook Pro 15. Tried opening it and restating connectors to no avail. The tech found a loose connector in the display assembly that hours of googling didnt yield an answer to.After $125 and less than 24hrs turn around time Im reunited with my workhorse.

Great place! dropped my phone off to get a part replaced and they were the cheapest place I called and they fixed my phone in a few hours when every other place said at least 24 hours. If I ever need my phone worked on again I will bring it back here!

Austin Mac Repair Fraudulently tried to return items not sold by us for a refund. (they swapped out broken laptop ac adapters we didnt ship them and sent them back for a refund)They are dishonest and I wouldnt trust them to treat you fairly either.

I took my Macbook pro here because of water damage. I got back my hard drive and let them keep the computer cause the damage was apparently too much to fix and ensure it would last. I NEEDED my hard drive cause it holds all my pdf docs and work files. I got that back and the documents are saved. I do not think I was treated unfairly and my experience was generally decent. I didnt give more stars because of all the other negative reviews. I did get the same creepy feeling from the lady who works there and I do not want to lead people astray with a 5 star review. I think if this many people have so many issues with the business then they must be on to something; however my issue was resolved and what was important to me was handled.

BE CAREFUL! These people are violent. They seem to be relaxed Austinian nice people, kind of nerd just to sell you any Apple. Mac, Iphones, etc parts or services, BUT once your product or service arrives some how it changes the price or quality. You ask them whats going on, but they very impolitely responde stupid answers. If you dont accept then they become very aggressive and violent. Do not leave any of your electronics for service or they may kidnap it until you pay what they asked you to pay.... If you want to buy any of their products, ONLY buy from whatever little inventory they may have... I have a video dealing with this creep employee! ...embarrassing!

Absolutely horrible customer service except for the counter girl Alyssa who was at least empathic. Rude, unprofessional and when simply inquiring on whether the diagnostic rendered on my machine was under warranty I was threatened with security for speaking too loudly.And to the woman from management who suggested I give a favorable review on Yelp, because I mentioned their slew of negative press. Be glad I didnt eviscerate your pathetic excuse for a repair establishment, because my original review was much worse.Never again

Store front is a bit confusing. There are two names for this business, Austin Mac Repair and Texas Mac Repair. And they share their suite with a non-profit, hard-core, christian evangelist group.I brought in an old Macbook Air to see why it kept shutting down. Unfortunately the logic board is bad. And the cost to replace it is more than what the machine is worth in working order. So, I decided to not fix it. $30 Bucks to find out my machine is toast isnt bad!Other than the confusion about being in the right place, the over the top religious paraphernalia, and the sign on their door threatening to call the police if I cursed, they offered me great service and quick turn-a-round. They were pleasant when they greeted me and called me several times to either ask questions or keep me posted on their progress.

Shady! I just came from small claims court after successfully winning my ipad that they were holding hostage. They diagnosed the battery was dead. I paid for it by credit card. I took it back two additional times because the battery was still dead. They then diagnosed it as a motherboard issue (still well within their 30 day warranty) and I decided not to replace it. They demanded more money, I refused, they refunded my cc and then they demanded cash. I called the police and the police said they couldnt legally do it but she didnt care. In February filed in small claims court and today I won!! I have my ipad back, the satisfaction of knowing I won and the sheer satisfaction of seeing the looks on their faces when they thought I was going to suck up the court costs but they ended up by decree paying - priceless!Suck it Austin Mac Repair and/or Texas Mac Repair!!

This is the second time I have used Austin Mac Repair. They have consistently been very curious, quick and inexpensive.

Wow.... do NOT trust these reviews. Go on Yelp. There are over 80 complaints about everything from poor repairs (apparently done with scotch tape) to scary conflicts with the unstable owner, Les. You can also see Les attempts to post his own 5 star reviews about his store to bump up the 2 1/2 star rating if you click show unfiltered reviews. For someone with a giant Jesus on a cross in his store, this guy is completely unethical, some might say criminal.This is NOT an authorized Apple store. Bring your equipment to the Domain. They will do diagnostics for free. If I had known that I would never have had to deal with this nightmare.

My son broke the volume button on my iPad and left a nasty dent. They did a great job repairing it and turned it around in a single day. Pretty damned awesome.

I ordered a large amount of computers from this company, they sent me less than the advertised amount.I would not recommend them to anyone. They have been leading me on for months.

Sadly I have to mimic the sentiments of my fellow reviewers. Be warned, NEVER do business with this place. I had an Iphone that needed a battery replaced and decided to go to this place even though they were charging double the going rate of the other places in the city. That was my first mistake. When the new battery didnt fix my issues I went back to get it repaired and/or refunded and was denied my money and was told I had to leave my phone for an undetermined length of time. No thank you mean lady, needless to say customer service was horrific, apparently it was all my fault my phone doesnt work, ???. The next day I went to another store to have them look into not only my battery issue, but now my phone got super hot when I was on it. Like have to put it down hot. The guys at the new place showed me how a bracket wasnt put back after a new battery was installed and gave me the new battery they took that didnt work and was bad. I strongly feel this place is a scam operation.

Actually - should be 0 stars. This place is a scam. When I spilled coffee on my computer and took it in to get checked out, they charged me 108.00 to diagnose - and 108.00 to clean out my computer. They gave it back to me with coffee still clearly all over it. I am 90% they charged me over 200.00 just to charge up my computer.
