This place isnt exactly bad. I saw a lot of great reviews. But the overall things that happened to my laptop were horrible. Best Buy recommended them whenever we brought it in for a loose hinge repair. They damaged the screen, adding a weeks worth of time onto the pickup. They did not charge us for the repairs because of that, thank you. So, not that bad, correct? They message saying that the laptop is repaired and ready for pickup. We go to pick it up, and it is in worse shape than we brought it in with. The loose hinge was completely broken in half, not even attached to the computer. I am sure that this is a personal experience, but personally, it was a horrible one. I have not received any notice on the status of the computer since. Thank you for the service, but I do not think I will be coming back due to this instance unless it is to finally pick it up. First impressions are important. The attached image is what they did to the computer screen.

I always have a very pleasant experience every time I come here, and Tylar was especially helpful with assisting me with finding new peripherals for my desktop. Ill definitely be coming back when Im looking for upgrades to my setup! Would absolutely recommend this shop to a friend.

I generally dont like to leave one star reviews because it seems like many of the one star reviews others leave for businesses are driven by some sort of grudge. But this time it seems appropriate. I took my laptop to DE after I spilled liquid on the keyboard. Their diagnosis was that I needed a new motherboard, which would cost $900+, and even then they wouldnt guarantee that that would fix the problem. They charged $65 for that diagnosis. The cost of the repair would be more than the laptop was worth, so I asked them to get all of the data from the hard drive. They wanted another $65 for that, so I had them to download the contents to a thumb drive. They did that, but when I took the thumb drive home and attempted to access the data, I couldnt retrieve anything. DE refunded the second payment after they finally agreed that nothing was retrievable. I bought a new laptop, but I couldnt quite believe the old one was ruined. So I took it to You Break, I Fix, on south 1st. They cleaned the hardware and replaced the keyboard, and my beloved laptop was up and running. The bill? $140. Now I have a new $600 laptop that I dont need (though admittedly it feels nice to have a spare), and my old laptop is performing as it always did. I will not be returning to DE any time soon.

I could NOT recommend this business enough. Tylar was an absolute dream to work with. They helped me find the perfect computer for work and ensured that I fully was set up and knew how to use it and was super attentive to what I was looking for and needing in a piece of equipment. I have shopped at Discount Electronics-South Austin for about 5 years. The salespeople are knowledgeable about the products they carry and are very helpful and low pressure. The computers are used but most carry a one year warranty. I rarely buy new computers because I can get quality used computers that are very serviceable for a much lower price at Discount Electronics

I went in having never built or put any parts into a computer, and they helped me get my sons computer upgraded and running. Tyler really broke everything down simply and helped me get what I needed. Just got back from buying a new piece of equipment, was in and out in 15 minutes. The staff was very nice, the only drawback was there was no box to take home my new goodie. I was helped out immediately and greeted upon entering which made the whole process a lot quicker, as compared to another electronics place in previous reviews. The interior was very clean and there was tons of electronics from monitors to any piece of computer hardware you can think of. There was also some antique autographed guitars which just adds personality to the place. A 5 star experience definitley.

Ive been shopping at DE for quite a few years and have NEVER had bad service, until I spoke with Tyler today.I called about an issue I was having on a computer purchased within the past 3 months and he just seemed to not care about my problem--but wanted me to bring the computer in for a $59 fee to fix the issue. Typical.I eventually called U-Break-I-Fix and the gentleman there was SUPER nice and was able to walk me through my issues FREE OF CHARGE.Let me clarify, everyone else at Discount Electronics was always so friendly and they really do have great products and pricing. Tyler was unknowledgeable, unprofessional and straight up RUDE.Will not shop here again if he is working that day.

One afternoon I was over at this location browsing for parts. Not only did they have exactly what I was looking for, the price was amazingly reasonable and one of the staff members even took it out of the box so I could insure hardware compatibility (it was a desktop monitor mount).After shopping when I returned to my car, I found I was unable to start it and the battery died. Denise Gage: I was very pleased when the laptop I ordered online was delivered two days later; however, customer service relative to warranty help is AWFUL. Twice I have had to call. One time it was easy and quickly answered. But, when my sign in would not work I was asked to email back and forth rather than use the phone to quickly realize what I had already done and save my time. I asked them to call so that I could use my time more effectively, but I was told that is not the way they do support.

As an artist whos had to be, lets say, resourceful financially, over the years Ive loved Discount Electronics. Bought my kids intro gaming computers 3 years ago. This year one of them would not boot. Took it in and within 10 minuets the technician had done a cleanout and a quick fix. I would have gladly paid them for their time and then some to have it fixed so quick. They would have none of it. Fixed and Free. It was an awesome display of integrity and customer service. Wheres the 6th star for these guys?

Went for a replacement keyboard. Got upgrades suggested, but they didnt replace the keyboard. Called back and was told, I didnt sign off to get the keyboard replaced. I told them to look at why I brought it in. They still didnt want to take responsibility for their actions. Ordered it, was told 7 days. Two weeks later a call. Also, you have to be here by 4 because the tech leaves. Leave work early to get it done, they put it in and it doesnt work. Of course, another, its our suppliers fault. And other week and I have my laptop back. 20 DAYS LATER! I had a bad experience 15 years ago with you also. I have learned my lesson and will never use your services again.

I got a refurbished PC tower, a Vostro 270, really good job and the refurbishing was really cheap, 10/10 product, anytime I need to order anything electronic related, Im buying from here, life-long customer.

I walked in today looking to repair my daughters laptop. Something we have been putting off for months now. The issue was that it was not connecting to the internet. Once I was let in by a staff member (David) I briefly explained what was going on. Right away started looking into it and within minutes had figured out what was going on. It was an update that never finished loading. He did his magic and with in a short time he was finished!!!! Wow!!!!! He not only fixed it but said there was no charge since it just needed to finish up loading the update. Another wow!!!! I am definitely coming back for all my computer needs and highly recommend David!!! Any other shop would have blown it out of proportion to make any easy buck. I came in this past week to trade in somehardware as credit toward a 2017 MacBook Pro. The young lady and gentlemen that work in front made my day. It took a while to process all the stuff I was reading in (not their fault) and they were friendly, knowledgeable, and informative the whole time. I never felt misled or taken advantage of and I WILL return for all of my computer needs. My MacBook is awesome and fast too!

These guys are great. Last week my 21 year old son moved out and left, what looked like, a brand new computer behind in his throw away pile. I asked him what was wrong with it and he said he got it 5 months ago and cant get it to display on a monitor. I took it to Discount Electronics, they hooked it up, showed me that the display ports on the video card were covered with plugs, connected to the video card and the computer worked perfectly. The staff was competent, curious, and very professional.

I bought an amazingly-priced computer from them 2-3 years ago for my wife. She recently decided she wanted to play better games with me, so I went on the journey of upgrading their computer. I ran into a snag with some compatibility issues between the HP motherboard and other nonHP power sources. I decided to take it back to Discount Electronics on Manchaca to see if i could gleam any intel from their expertise.Farley and Tylar were incredibly knowledgeable in the subject and was able to help me find some suitable workarounds that made this computer successfully upgraded to my satisfaction.As a programmer, it was refreshing to not have to learn a whole nother field in order to troubleshoot my problem. These guys are solid.I was charged 3.99 for an essential motherboard adapter cable, I tipped much more... but still felt like I owed them more money for their services.

We got out of our car to go inside the store. On the door the sign says wait for an employee to let you in the store. Why did they turn there backs to us and act as if we weren’t standing there. First off, let me just say I am not what you would call technologically savvy. Or even remotely competent. This is evidenced when I couldnt figure out how to connect to my WiFi on my ancient laptop. I brought it in and in literally 2 minutes they had shown me what I needed to do & I was on my way. Best of all, they didnt make me feel stupider than I already felt. Patient, not condescending, funny. These guys are legit! Oh...and Im writing this from my laptop, using wireless. ;)

Sorry, but not a fan. The person I worked with did not seem to care, quite honestly. And, the computer would not work using the battery after their in-house warranty expired meaning they would charge me just to look at it. I took the computer to UBreak, I Fix. They found the problem (which unfortunately was not able to be repaired, cleaned the machine and returned it to me for no charge since they could not fix it. Now that is quality service. DE lost a customer.

This place has an extensive amount of appliances, and the staff is very friendly and curious and they work with you. Sometimes you might have to have certain things ordered but they can probably accommodate your request.However for a rent-to-own or an Appliance leasing place, the pricees could do for some changing its a little bit pricey on my side.But they have some good selections.Overall I gave it a five-star also a four out of five star on my own personal note for the pricing.I highly recommended this place it somebody needs to get an appliance for a relatively decent monthly price at least.

Upon entering the store I was approached by sales personnel who seemed dead set on selling me everything I didnt want. When I asked about 12ft window sign thats hanging advertising 149.00 used computer? He stated oh? Well? We dont have one? Then his assistant chimes we do but it dont work very well? Ordered a 2.5” hard drive off Amazon and needed a 3.5” adapter bracket. They just handed me one the brackets they had on hand for free( had to pay two bucks for the screws though.) Great guys.

Four visits to the south location over the past few years and all very positive experiences. Today (5/15/19) I took in my laptop because of a D drive error that kept coming up. One of the techs looked at it, took it to another tech for further consultation. Less than 10 minutes later, my laptop is returned to me without the drive error. And the wonderful men of Discount Electronics did not charge me for the fix. Great location and wonderfully awesome staff.

South Austin store seems just as big in space than Anderson Mill, but seems to have more new parts and add-on items than PCs. Otherwise, all there locations are great and have what youre looking for, at least at one of there locations. The North Lamar store should have everything youd need for sure.Most importantly, theyre fantastic if youre on a really tight budget for a computer and even set you up with a warranty deal on any computer you purchase.

Guys behind the counter where exceptional in there knowledge and service. Forgot a charging cord and had a laptop cord go out while we were camping and they fixed this up with decent price products. Thumbs up I would definitely definitely recommend this to anybody.

I went into Discount Electronics south, thinking my PC problems would be sorted by a minor RAM upgrade. George asked all the right questions, and instead of showing me what I “said” I wanted, he read into it, and provided a solution that proved to cost the same amount as the RAM upgrade, but by far exceeded what I actually wanted, but that I didn’t know I wanted! I was not queued up, but taken care of directly. It’s nice to know there’s still computer guys out there that Work on computers simply because they love to work on computers. I was very satisfied and am currently gaming it up on my new machine!

Bought a used laptop on 1/2/19, service got to use it more than me. Between David, Jonathan and the manager in Service, we got me a different model (I paid the difference) and have a working, new to me laptop. The guys were amazing, patient and really cared that I was happy with a laptop I can use. Hoping my next visit is just to drop them off another bag of candy or to purchase an accessory that I want/need. This group are all amazing guys that care about what they are doing.

David and George were incredibly helpful in my time of dire need. I needed motherboard standoffs for my computer and both let me dig into their screw bins until I managed to locate them. For free, no less! I bought an SSD because I needed one anyway and when I asked about mounting kits David was honest with me and told me I could tape it because it was an SSD. They both came through for me in the clutch and Im incredibly grateful.

I recently brought my laptop to Discount Electronics, because of a freezing problem. I was fearing that I would need to spend over $200 to have the laptops processor replaced, as I was told by another PC expert, or even more to get a new computer. Likely the Discount Electronics tech guy diagnosed the real problem that was causing the freezing, that was much more simpler than expected and it only cost a fraction of what I was fearing. I am deeply grateful to the Discount Electronics team that got my laptop running as good as new again and saved me what seem like a fortune to me! Discount Electronics customer service is exceptional and without a doubt one of the best out there!

Had the staff help me with replacing the disc drive with a solid state drive - not too pricy plus they treated my laptop like it was theirs. The staff is super knowledgeable with products, old and new, and some software and answered a lot of my questions while I was there. Definitely a return customer!

First let me say that I know customers are not always right...but its also clear theyre not always wrong either.Last week I purchased a complete system (refurbished) and accessories at a total cost of more than $990.00. Within 48 hours, I had to bring the system back in for repairs because the hard drive was defective. It would have been nice to hear Im sorry for the inconvenience youve experienced but that was not to be. However, more importantly, when I picked up the computer a couple days later as I was leaving town in a hurry, I didnt notice that my power cord was not returned to me. Upon arriving home a couple days later and trying to power up the repaired system, I realized I didnt receive my power cord upon repairs being completed. I went directly to the S. Austin location and explained the issue and the simply said the cord wasnt noted as being received when i checked in the unit. Granted, I didnt realize it was my responsibility to confirm what D.E. puts in their system, so I was unaware that the cord was not shown as being delivered with the unit. The staff said I would have to buy a new one for $2.17, which I was forced to do IF I wanted the $1,000 system I purchased from them a few days prior to actually work this time.As a loyal customer of this location since they opened, I was was terribly disappointed that they would throw me to the curb over a $2.00 item, but that is exactly what they did. And as a customer who can easily prove the thousands of dollars I have spent with this location since they opened, it is even more disappointing that D.E. didnt care enough to consider that D.E. may have made a mistake instead of assuming it must be the customers fault.I congratulate them for having such a successful business that customer loyalty is not appreciated or needed. And so others dont make the mistake of spending as much as I did with absolutely no appreciation. I will let everyone in my circles know how poorly this business treated me only days after I spent almost $1,000.00 with them.

Hands down - the WORST tech repair experience of my life. After bringing in my laptop, with old hard drive, requesting a data transfer from old hard drive, to new hard drive already installed in laptop, I receive an email from the tech saying, “Don’t you want to just clone the old drive? I’ve checked it out - it’s fully functioning. It’s only got 3% impairment due to age, so I recommend cloning, not a data transfer.”Suffice it say, after a lengthy discussion with a middle man - because the tech REFUSES to talk directly to customers - he’s too busy destroying our data and not caring about our data to be bothered with talking to the people who are paying him — I got the data transfer that I sought, in addition, my brand new, fresh install ion of Windows 10 Pro is completely corrupted.The tech, who FINALLY deigned to speak to me when I demanded to know why not a single program I had that was functioning when I took my computer into Discount Electronics 2 days prior, said, “Evidently we’re not your shop. Don’t come back.
