This is the best salon that Ive been to in my life. All of the stylists are talented and have unique personalities that add to their work. I get my hair done by Alex and have gone to her for 3 years. Weve changed my color a few times, added extensions, etc. And every time I love the outcome. During covid Ive seen them take extra cautious measures to ensure safety for each customer. I feel very safe when Im getting my hair done. Ive referred many people to this salon and so far theyve all kept going back. If youre looking for a new place to go, this is it.

I have been a regular client here for a few years. I have seen Julia and Hailey, both of them are extremely talented colorists and stylists, as is everyone else in the salon. The products they use are very high quality and the clothes and accessories they sell in their shoppe are super cute too. Public has a really cool atmosphere and great staff, I recommend this place to everyone.

She listens well, gives a very thorough consultation, asks the right questions, and has me walking out of there feeling like I can conquer the world. The vibe and decor and general attitude of this place Is different from most salons, in the best way possible.The only reason I’d say not to go here is if you’re not willing to truly invest in your hair. AMAZING HAIR COSTS MONEY; there, I said it!The detail, products used, and education given to the stylists is reflected in the prices. I have collarbone length hair and got exactly what I wanted and paid about $300- completely reasonable for an all-over lighter hair color and cut!I can not recommend Public Salon & Shoppe enough! 🙌🏻

Let’s start off by saying I was a client for almost 2 years. I was very happy up until the last 2 times I went. Payed about $300 for an uneven haircut and paint job. My hair was bleached to a million colors. No actual evenness one side was lighter than the other. I had some extremely brassy parts at the top near my roots and some super silver almost white pieces of hair and then some yellow strands. I am not going to name the stylist out of respect. I have a lot of hair and unfortunately it takes a long time to get done. The stylist was multitasking and handling other clients while bleaching my hair! I understand she has other people to take care of and has to get payed but c’mon leaving me with one side of my hair bleaching and the other one dry is unacceptable. Hence to the unevenness in color. Ultimately I payed $70 at another place and got it fixed and it looks so much better. I don’t know if this will even matter anymore to anyone but you have lost a client.

This salon is so creative and chique. I love the vibe when I walk in the door along with all of the great shopping finds!! It is wonderful to come in and get my hair refreshed and be able to browse the adorable items they offer. I followed Amelia here from another salon and drive an hour just to see her! She is my hair genius!! I would never even think of another stylist ever working on my hair! Ive had nothing but a terrible experience. Very unprofessional staff especially Katie, the stylist and Molly the owner. The stylist fried my hair and made it nothing but warm shades (lightly said) I requested ashy tones before making the appointment and also during. I was assured by the stylist my request was obtainable. I didnt receive any type of a discount for ruined hair and was forced to pay in full (when I refused to pay for this horrendous experience the police got involved thats why I prefer to stay anonymous). The owner did not help at all, even made fun of me a little. Her idea of fixing my hair was adding highlights despite the fact my hair was already fried and highlights was not the option I was willing to take. Molly kept rolling her eyes and finally when I burst into tears she laughed at me. Please do your homework and only go to trusted salons. There are lots of very young stylists working there. Im positive my experience wouldve been much better if it wasnt for the lack of knowledge of a fresh hair stylist and the unprofessional service. Be careful where you go!

The fact that its a salon and boutique offering hair products, makeup, nail services, and clothes just makes you want to go out and enjoy youre evening with your new look!! She has an excellent eye for style and does an amazing job with color and cuts! Shes taken me from long hair to a sassy bob and black hair to blonde! I gave this salon a couple of tries but there was always disappointment.Last appointment with Julie goes like this:*only had to put on some toner shampoo.I asked for a quick trim but she told me that she has other customers and does not want to do it.Guess What!She walked away for 5 minutes and I used the hair straighter for a minute since she did not have time to style my hair... she comes back DO NOT TOUCH MY STRAIGHTENER... what a disrespectful way to talk to a customer who is paying for service.

The salon is conveniently located in downtown Arlington Hieghts. The staff is excellent and the service is outstanding. It’s also a great place to shop for quick gifts for the wife!

I have been going to Molly (the owner) since 2007 and from my first appointment I knew she had such an amazing talent to bring whatever color or hairstyle to life while also giving me the much needed feedback of what would look best. She has brought me from black to blonde from pink, red, charcoal grey, purple and every shade of brown you could think of and I have LOVED it all! My hair feels so soft and healthy and she has introduced me into thinking about the quality of products I use in my hair and what a difference it has made (especially with the many colors I have tried). Molly has a passion for wanting to help people feel their best and the moment you sit in the chair you know you are going to be in great hands—and she has the best laugh ever once you get her going!

I cant begin to describe how wonderful this salon is. Jared and Alex are my go-to hair stylist because they pay attention the most highest details, and pixie cuts are hard to do. The facility is very clean, they have a shop in the front, and there are tons of things to do and see around the area.

Its been a long time since Ive walked out of a salon completely satisfied with my hair! Katie did a balayage dye on my super thick dark hair and it turned out great! Katie is SUPER PATIENT and very thorough (she spent almost 4 hours working on me). She is very open to your opinions and is so great about working with you to make sure you are getting the look you want. It was a great experience!

I should have left a review months (year) ago!! I had a consultation with Jackie before actually having any work on my hair done. Lets just say the zebra effect the lady I saw before Jackie did a zoo number on me and I was a little hesitant to just jump back in. During my consultation Jackie let me know it was going to be a process and not to expect what I was looking for overnight. What! No! Unacceptable! Im kidding. I have a lot of hair... A lot...sorry Jackie lol and I got that it would take some sessions. I could not be happier with Public Salon and Jackie. Oh! She always is sure to inform me that the product she is using on me is not tested on animals and even vegan! It goes a long way in my book. Everyone is so nice and greets you. I could keep going but I hope you get it and go see Public Salon and Jackie!

LOOOVE!! After way too many dismal/bad experiences, Im always very wary of trying to find new stylists. But Sams chill personality calmed my fears and her talent totally delivered exactly what I was hoping for and then some! A hip, laid-back environment with super savvy and sweet staff. I finally found my new place! Go now. Theyre the best.

Wow! If I could rate them -5 stars I would. I went in for a service thinking I would pay around 100, what I got quoted, but left paying $275 for my hair!!! They charged me for product without even asking me. Not only that but they definitely did not listen to what I asked for, and now I have unwanted color in my hair! Such a shame. Save your money and go somewhere else!

Hair broke off! The stylist literally over-processed my hair which made my hair break off. When I complained they provided me with products to condition my hair. The response from the owner was truly unprofessional - I provided her with evidence such as photos, before and after, etc. I have all the text messages and photos if anyone needs info.

Normally I never write reviews but after my experience here I need to tell as many people as possible to NOT go here bc I left crying! I recently came in to get a balayage and I should’ve asked for the pricing. My hair is long and thick but they charged me $370.00! I wouldn’t mind paying that amount but my hair came out orange and red. When I told my concerns to them because I had came back five minutes later, the ladies were asking people around if MY hair was red or not. I was in the brink of tears and expressed to them I wasn’t happy with this color and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. When I asked for a partial or full refund the lady thought it was funny and smirkily said we don’t have “refunds here at all!” And the manager has the nerve to say “well she worked on you all day”. For $370 you’d better work with my hair UNTIL IM SATISFIED. If I would’ve just looked up the reviews on this place rather than randomly selecting this salon, I would’ve never have come and spent so much. I ended up having to fix my hair with another stylist to correct my now red hair, thus paying more but more than half the amount of what I paid here. DONT COME HERE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE YOU TRUST!

I was a new client to this salon and was going to get a partial highlight. Online says it is give or take $80.00. I added a hair treatment and ended up paying $245.00. I must point out my hair is a little past my chin..... also my blonde is not beige but starting to become brassy and I have splotches of bleach that got onto my other hair. I saw a level 3 professional Alexandria. She was nice however the type of professionals in this salon are not classy nor does the space give you a sense of spa or rejuvenation. I am now having to go to another salon to correct my color problem. Do your research before trying.

Ive been seeing hailey here for a while. She just cut my hair short after having it long for several years. She did a fantastic job, and she is great at bleaching.

Do not come here. My daughter came in my house hysterical and unhappy bc her hair was looking like a flaming hot Cheeto and she paid $400.

Amelia colors my hair. She has been for a while now. That girl does some serious hair magic!!! She usually does balyage on my hair but has also done all over color and highlights. She is AMAZING. I highly reccomend her.She is also very upfront about coloring hair. You can NOT go from dark to platinum blonde in one shot!!! It took me a few color jobs to get my hair the blonde that I wanted. She is so knowledgeable about hair and does such a beautiful job.If you want gorgeous color shes definitely your girl!!!

This place to me is a non-salon in the best way possible. Impeccably decorated space and also a boutique! A girl with purple hair greeted me (I cant remember her name) she was awesome so friendly- zero salon desk attitude. All the employees seem to genuinely encourage each other which I thought was refreshing and set a great vibe for the salon. The music they play is great, the owner bought everyone pizza during my appt- seriously! Sam gave me AMAZING blonde balayage and haircut then styled it for the night- just cause. I love this place and will definitely be back to see Sam for my color :)

The Best salon! I came here this past year for the first time after my cousin reffered me to Jackie. I was tired of going to places where my hair never looked like what I wanted it to. I saw before and after pictures that Jackie had done and was so impressed. After consulting me about my color, Jackie transfromed my hair to a beautiful blonde I have always wanted. Jackie takes her time to pay attention to every strand of hair (from baby lights to toning) to using the best leave in treatments. Each session leaves me feeling more confident and I have learned to treat my hair better too. Anyone whos wanted their dream hair color needs to see Jackie! I also love how modern the salon is. They have trendy clothes/ accessories to purchase. Even a fun photoshoot taken by your stylist ( trust me youll want to show off your new hair!) You wont be disappointed!

AMAZING SALON! I have never had any salon go out of their way to meet my needs. I havent met Molly only by email. But I could tell she was such a thoughtful person. I had certain anxieties, but and Jackie (stylist) went out of theyre way to make me comfortable. I was finally able to get a hair done. This is not a stuffy, hoydi toydi place. Its a chill trendy spot, with real stylist. I wasnt really shure of what I wanted, and Jackie was really patient with me, and just did her own thing. She really sees hair as art! And I loved it! She took her time and it was worth it! I loved my hair! When ever your down just go get taken care of there! im so extremely greatful to have found them!

I always go to Katie to get my gray touched up, for eyebrow shaping, and for pedicures (Im VERY ticklish, and Katie does sort of a custom pedicure for me).
