It was a complete update of our houses original kitchen that included taking down a wall and expanding into the dining room. They provided a very thoughtful design (making use of every available space!) and worked with us through every step of installation to ensure we were happy with our kitchen. They were very courteous and professional and left the job site spotless at the end of each day. The project was completed on time. We love our new kitchen!

Subs were generally good w/ a couple minor exceptions. Design work was excellent and integrated our ideas seamlessly. We’re very happy with the result! AK came highly recommended, and we could clearly see why.

Would highly recommend About Kitchens to anyone in Annapolis doing a kitchen remodel! We got multiple quotes and chose About Kitchens because they gave us the most detailed itemized list for every single part of the remodel. I wanted a custom cabinet color and they did extra research to find a cabinet manufacturer that wouldn’t charge extra for my custom color. Before the remodel started, they sent us a calendar with which jobs would be done each day. Mike was our project leader and we LOVED him. He was extremely professional, great at communicating and had an attention to detail that gave us the kitchen we wanted. Matt and Dave were also wonderful to work with and so friendly and helpful when I would pop by the storefront with questions. Remodeling a kitchen felt daunting but honestly the whole process was so smooth because of this team. 10/10 would recommend!!

About Kitchens and Baths just completed remodeling our kitchen and half bath. They removed the popcorn ceiling, and gutted the entire kitchen and half bath. The owners and designer were thorough and explained in person and in writing all of the processes involved in the project. They stopped by at least once per week to check on the project and make sure we were happy. Zach and Tyler showed up every Monday - Friday at 8:30AM and left by 4:00PM after cleaning up the work site. Wow. So delighted with our kitchen. Matt and Dave are exceptional. Matt is the owner and extremely responsive and easy to work with. His wife also works there and was great to have a woman to bounce ideas off of. I think of Dave as the project manager.and design expert. Again very responsive and timely in delivering new graphics as requested. The guys on site, Mike and Tyler(?), are fabulous to work with and didn’t get annoyed at all my notes during the project. They work very well together. We have had bad experiences in the past with workers arguing at each other. I can’t give enough praise about this company. They delivered on time and on budget. About Kitchens installed a new, large, high end kitchen and a separate bar room in our house, and replaced a very large wood floor as well. The overall design was very good, including a lot of input from us. It was all measured and planned perfectly by Dave and Matt, who were able to implement some creative challenges that we gave them. The cabinet manufacturer they use is excellent. Most of the subcontractors were also excellent, with one exception, but Matt fixed the problem there to our satisfaction. We can’t say enough about the quality of workmanship for the granite and cabinet installations and the drywall repairs. The team is pleasant, honest, helpful and expert. Mike and Zach were truly masterful both in the normal installation and finishing work and also in some particular challenges of our project. Our remodeling project is gorgeous and we’re very happy with the final result. We would certainly use them again and recommend them to friends.We would suggest that clients try to get every detail in writing and that constant updates and changes also be detailed in writing because kitchen projects are complex and misunderstandings can occur. Matt is easy to work with and very responsive to issues that arise.

I’ve read a couple of the great reviews on here and I just wish we’d had a similar experience. My husband stopped in today to talk to Matt about new cabinets to replace the cheap ones that were built for us a year ago when we completely remodeled our kitchen. He explained our situation to him as well as what we specifically wanted to do, just replace the cabinets, nothing else. Matt said they could come out to measure whenever we were ready, which happened to be just a few hours later. However, when Matt and his colleague walked into our kitchen today, all they could do was insult our house. My husband is an architect and he designed it all. Some of the construction was poorly done, I.e. the cabinets, but we’re happy with everything else except for some appliance changes which are also in the works and which we also explicitly mentioned. Matt specifically said that he “couldn’t put his name on this” unless we were willing to rip it all out and start from scratch and also that “there are just so many things that are wrong”. Well I’m sorry Matt, we don’t need your name on our kitchen, it already has one. And just because it’s not the way you would have done it doesn’t mean it’s “wrong.”I can understand that maybe they are accustomed to customers who hate their kitchens and are ready to start over. But we’ve already done that. We have some things we want to change now a year later and we were very clear about that. So when you walk into your customer’s kitchen and your usual line of insults ripping everything that’s wrong with it falls flat right away, maybe change your tone or try a different approach. Let’s assume you completely forgot the conversation from a few hours earlier where your customer told you he was an architect and had already redesigned his kitchen just one year ago, then maybe start asking questions about what still works and what doesn’t, and why certain decisions were made. But definitely don’t double down on the rude insults and contempt. Maybe it’s just a sales tactic and maybe it works for some people. I don’t know. But then he acted like he was doing us a favor just being willing to sell us cabinets with no full redesign - exactly what we asked for in the first place. Turns out there are dozens of other places we can go to buy cabinets. Who knew?

They did an awesome job especially since we were unable to be there in person during most of the work. Matt and his sub-contractors did a kitchen remodel for us in 2012. Matt is a perfectionist and he asks the same of the subs he employs. Every aspect of the remodel was done right the first time and all communications and requests were handled promptly and professionally. Matt has always been responsive to any follow-up questions. For example, just today (8/2/2019) I had a question concerning repair or replace an appliance and Matt provided information that will help me make the correct decision.

I had a good feeling about this company right from the start; I was not disappointed. I wanted a steam shower and was advised mid way through that I might want to update the rest of the 30 year old bathroom. I said yes. I left it completely up to them to complete the renovation and am delighted with the results. Every person who showed up was polite, considerate and conscientious. One even sent his cleaning woman to clean the entire floor that had been dirtied; another was concerned that our dog was chewing on an animal skin. Our beautiful new kitchen is completed. Working with About Kitchens is a unique process, from the initial visit to our home to the completion of the project. We were carefully guided through design, products selection, and scheduling. Demo Day happened quickly and on time. The craftsmen and professionals who worked in our home were knowledgeable, talented and polite. This remodel was the same positive experience we had when About Kitchens remodeled our master bathroom 2 years ago. This small, local company provides the absolute best in kitchen and bath renovation!

We contacted About Kitchens and Baths based on a neighbor’s recommendation. Hands down, they are the best remodeling company with which we have dealt, and there are many. From design to completion Matt and his staff and crew exceeded our expectations. They listened to our needs, were responsive to our phone calls and emails, made excellent recommendations for cabinets, tile, plumbing and countertops and completed the job on time. We were never surprised by changes or delays, as we were contacted in advance whenever necessary.They do not subcontract the work except for the plumbing so the installers are accountable to the owner, a model that is all too rare. We did have an issue with the initial plumbing design and installation, but Matt addressed it immediately and had the plumbers properly reroute the piping for the converter valve in the shower stall. Their crew are technicians and artists. They took pride in their work, creating a remodeled master bath that is more functional and beautiful.More recently we again called on their services to acquire a replacement cabinet front for a new icemaker with different dimensions and mounting points. . Although discontinued, drawing on their contacts within the cabinet industry, they were able to have the door manufactured and stained to perfectly match the existing cabinetry. They are a can do company that I would recommend with no hesitation.

Our kitchen looks great. We have an older house, plaster walls, but everything work out well and within budget. Matt is every knowledgeable.

We love our new kitchen and love showing it to everyone. Matt Trivane (owner) made choosing and staying within budget easy and the outcome is exactly what we wanted. Matt oversaw every detail and did most of the install himself. The tear out of the old and the install of the new went as planned and took no more than 14 working days. Installation of everything was respectfully quiet and spot clean which is great because our kitchen is right in the middle of the house! Neighbors said they observed how neat the crew was and how the crew routinely hauled away all the torn out cabinets and daily debris. No dumpster necessary! We were always notified about who and what was coming when. Thumbs up for About Kitchens.

We have worked with Matt and his team over a number of years, for projects ranging from big (a complete kitchen remodel and finishing our basement, including a wet bar and full bath) to small (retiling a leaking shower and finishing a powder room), with other projects along the way. The work is very professional. Contracts spell out the necessary details to make decisions and know what to expect so there are no surprises, while at the same time they remain flexible enough to tackle unexpected problems or additional pieces that make sense as the project unfolds. Matt is detailed and creative, so that his artistic eye is combined with a practical orientation that means the plan is pleasing, doable and very livable. Although We encountered some delays on our last project that arose from a variety of sources, he creates a schedule and largely lives within it, so you can too. He doesn’t leave last minute things that seem to never get done—the work is really done when he is finished. That is rare! The quality of the worksmanship is excellent; the teams pay attention to details and make sure the work is done right. For example, the floor in our basement was a typical basement floor—uneven in a number of spots; Carlos made sure that every tile was flat and even and beautifully laid. We have found Matt always responsive and a pleasure to work with. I can’t recommend him enough—we have sent many other friends to him as well. Great choice!
