Due to COVID, I have not lived in the apartment during the past entire year. The worst thing is I still need to pay ~$55 water bill EVERY MONTH though I dont live there at all and did not use the water for my one bedroom apt!I hate the way the water bill is charged which is unfair for me to pay others spending.

We moved into the building July, 2020. The Office staff was very friendly and helpful. Our unit was ready for move-in and it was spotless! Weve been here for nearly 4 months and love it. Everyone from the office, maintenance, and concierge is great. The neighborhood is lovely and the residents are very nice. Our apartment is spacious and in good condition. A+ place - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings

Per square foot price is good and the apartments are large. The pool needs to be heated. It only gets sun 5 hrs. The pool would be used a lot more when heated to 73 degrees or more. It takes until midsummer for pool to get warm on its own.

Where do I start. I think my favorite carlyle experience was when a horrendous sewage odor was coming out of the kitchen sink and maintenance said “huh, I dunno” and then closed out the work order. I also had to repair the toilet and shower on my own because they couldn’t figure it out.On the topic of parking, your car will probably get towed at one point or another. They claim that predatory A-1 towing is helping them keep spots open for residents. There are SO many empty spots at any given time. Availability for residents is really not an issue. Plus I was a resident with a valid parking pass (which cost me $175 a month btw) and still got towed.Every other complaint you see on here is true, I won’t elaborate on each one. Go ahead and look elsewhere on your apartment hunt. Thank you and have a blessed day!!

I have lived in Carlyle Place for more than 2 years and used to love everything about this place. But things are not like before unfortunately. The manager and the assistants no longer see the need to listen to your need and respect you when you are a tenant! I think they are better off buying a robot than having John Paul dealing with people! The manager tells you something over the phone and then denies it in the email! The building is not that safe either as bikes (including mine) are stolen frequently from the property. If you are looking to rent, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. There are several NEW buildings in the area with comparable rents, fantastic amenities, and perhaps sympathetic staff!

We lived here for two years. I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone. There is mold growing in the gym that they refuse to clean. Our apartment was improperly sealed. This caused winters to be awful. We had several occurrences of water leaking into our apartment. The solution, towels. The staff there rotates so often it is hard to know who still works in the front office. Some of the staff have been rude, nasty and condescending, and that is to a family living in their building.Your car will get towed. Even if it is there for a legitimate purpose in its designated spot. We had two vehicles get towed while there.Despite having a cleaning service there (for what seems to be from 8-4) the entire complex is disgusting. At first look it make look okay. But upon closer examination you see the dirt, the dings, and the mold. I write this review to warn you if you are considering this place. For the money there are so many other, better, places to live.

Our move into Carlyle was far from eventful. The freight elevator was down, and it had been down way before our scheduled move 6/3/20. Our unit was not cleaned properly, blinds were broke, poor paint job, loud appliance. I had an accident moving in where rice fell out of one of the boxes while walking down the hall, and I notified management. It stayed there for that day and the following day which leads me to believe that the cleaners do not clean every day although management may believe they do. We hope that it gets better and this was just a few bad days. Will update later!

I had the same experience as everyone else. It is a great place to live, but the lowest rent increase was 5%. I did reach out to the leasing office to see if we could negotiate. I was told they couldn’t, and if I was to give notice, they would be leasing my apartment $227 more. But they are currently leasing apartments for less than mine. It is disappointing.

5% increase of the rent over one year, no response to our emails (4 emails), had to pass to the leasing office twice to get NO response...The residence is ok although noisy on every side of the building due to the metro (west side) or Eisenhower Avenue where cars are making big accelerations at night (east side). Would benefit from better windows.Edit: my comment got a response saying I would be contacted the same day. Not a surprise I haven’t been contacted at all.

We have lived here for 7 months and LOVE it! ALL the positive things people have said are true.I feel safe here. We knew when we moved here that we would hear the Metro but the sound has become white noise, doesnt bother us at all. The Uptown Market right downstairs is wonderful.. it really gives the place a neighborhood feel, as does the cleaners, also right downstairs. We love Subway in the next block and walk over to Mall on summer nights to have ice cream. This is a great place to live and worth the price... not too may apartments here that you can say that about.

Me and my wife started our family in these apartments. First they were built as condos, so nice thick walls. You never hear your neighbors. Maintenance staff are awesome and so is the front office. When you have a problem it gets fixed immediately. No questions asked. During the week and normal hours of course. The amenities are pretty par with everyone else.Easy access to metro and all major highways.Again if I ever need a place to rent again. I will go right here

Review based solely on my experience with the leasing office...Today I had an appointment to meet with a leasing agent, and based on my experience with the leasing office (Lisa, specifically), I would NEVER rent here. Lisa was rude, patronizing, condescending, and hurried throughout the entire “tour” process. I use that term loosely because the “tour” lasted only about 13-15 minutes, 2 of which she spent chatting with one of her friends in the building. They discussed everything - football, food, and even the friend’s new job. Yes... this entire conversation happened right in front of me. There I was, prepared to spend around $2K/month, and Lisa literally acted like she couldn’t be bothered.

1. They will promise you one thing and renege on it. For example, they promised that the $500 admin fee will be credited against the next month rent. Well, turns out they only do it for longer leases. But they knew what my lease was when making this promise.2. They require a 60-day notice to vacate even when lease expires so you are stuck with them because their monthly rent are about 1000$ higher than long term rent.3. It is incredibly noisy on all sides of the building because of the traffic particularly trains and metro. We had to use a noise machine to get any sleep.4. Their water bills are not individually billed and based on average consumption so you end up subsidizing high-consuming tenants.5. Their rents after initial lease periods are based on market algorithm. So be prepared to fork out a thousand more if you fail to find another good place and give a 60-day notice before the lease expires. So here is an example: the market algorithm gave a $4000+ rent for a 3-bed apartment. Now the same apartment sits on the market for 2+ months for $3500 with no takers. This tells you that the market algorithm is not market-based at all.Summary: Run! It appears good on the surface (location, amenities, etc), but you end up paying thousands and thousand of extra dollars compared to what you thought youd be paying, even when what you thought was already very high.UPDATE: The below owner’s reply is a standard boilerplate response with no specifics and they imply that the service is to blaim. Not true! The real issue is with management. They have my contact details and if they really wanted to ‘make things right’ they could have adjusted the rent accordingly. They refused point blank to reach any mutually beneficial solution. I am not ‘frustrated’, I’m determined to help others not to make the same mistake of choosing Carlyle Place in the first place.

I loved living in the Carlyle place. It was the first place I lived in when I moved into the DC area. The Concierges were always so friendly, courteous and would always acknowledge you once you came in. The office staff were always so attentive and professional. I always felt safe in the area, even walking my dogs late at night. I could hear the metro but after a while it didnt bother me. I guess thats something you have to deal with for living so close to the metro station. Parking was reasonably priced, and I lived in two different floor plans and both were very spacious and had great closet space. I would definitely live there again.

Very clean building, great floor plans compared to other buildings in the area. Staff is very friendly, concierges know you by name (John is great!) and maintenance employees always give you a smile and a wave when they see you. Amenities are terrific, location is superb (sure you can hear the Metro/bus a bit, but you cant be close to those conveniences and not hear them at the same time!), and overall experience is great. Just signed a new lease in a bigger apartment, and plan to stay in this building until my job takes me away from the DC Metro area.

Value, Location and space. In addition to the helpful staff and clean building the apartment is great with huge Windows, lots of light and room to enjoy. While the apartments are attractive, they are overpriced. Additionally, we pay the $100/month for parking. However, our car was broken into. The apartment did not notify tenants when the break in occurred. Moreover, we discovered the apartment does not keep video surveillance of the parking areas (and, mind you, in the winter the doors that allow entry to the elevators without passing the concierge, do not lock, meaning the whole place is unsecured to the public). Management is slow to respond and we have yet to receive a call from the apartment manager following the car break in, even though it occurred 2 weeks ago. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else.

Carlyle Place is a beautiful community. I lived here for 7 years. Its conveniently located next to a metro station and the late night concierge availableness is wonderful. During most of my stay it was pleasant. Some bad things about here is that: For me, there are mites in the carpet that bite. So if youre allergic to many things. This place wouldnt be good for that. The units that face the street have poor window installation. As a result, you may need to use plastic on your windows to keep the temperature steady. In the winter it gets extremely cold and in the summer its hot. So my bill reflected that significantly.Their staff are uncomfortable to be around. One time one of the guys asked me my age, if I was dating, how long have I been single. All in my personal space. As a result, I wouldnt call for maintenance too often to avoid the discomfort.Once I locked myself out of my unit at around 2 am.. I was hesitant to admit this to the front desk clerk. But as he walked me up to my apartment. When the elevator closed he said I know your scared of me. It was so uncomfortable. If youre a single female just beware. You may be better off somewhere else.I find the quality of this community getting worse. This is an affordable unit dwelling. So they have to allow affordable units to residents who otherwise would not be able to afford this apartment community. I find that as time goes on. The quality of safety continues to go down.Just the other night. I couldnt sleep and thank god I stayed up. I watched someone enter my apartment with keys and was looking around. When I finally approached the person she said she worked for Carlyle and lied about having cops downstairs and lied about my neighbors making a complaint. After reporting this incident to management. They didnt do anything. So beware of moving here. I think it may be like Wells Fargo. There may be a lot of shady illegal things going on here behind the scenes. Before moving in. Check with the local police station to see how many reports were filed here. That will be an indicator you can rely on outside of the feedback thats given.

Only lived here a few weeks so this review is initial impressions and my dealing with the leasing office. When i came to check out the apartment, Lisa, one of the leasing agents gave me a tour of the building and laid out all of the expenses for me. The entire process was straightforward and very easy to understand. Her and Shannon made sure any questions I had were answered and any concerns i had were attended too. They also told me some interesting things about the neighborhood that were welcome since im new to the area. The others in the apartment that ive run into are friendly and there is a welcoming atmosphere. The area is safe to walk around at night and there are plenty of shops a short walk away. So far ive had no issues and have had a nice time staying here.

We have been living here for the past 14 months and we like it a lot. Let me tell you couple of things about our positive experience so far. 1) Leasing office: We were very lucky to meet Asad when we visited for the first time. He was very welcoming, showed us several options, and helped us to select the best apartment that fit our budget/ situation. He is friendly and makes your apartment hunting experience comfortable and stress free! Asad is a fantastic member of the team at Carlyle (all of them are good) and has a bright future in this industry! I will not be surprised to see him climb up the ladder quickly. 2) Concierge: Carlyle has a 9:00 AM – 2:00 AM person at the front desk! This is very helpful, especially if you work odd hours and need to pick up your packages. Shout out to Nargess, she greets you always with a smile and flawlessly manages a ton of deliveries. 3) Maintenance crew: Ok, these are the nicest maintenance crew I have seen anywhere. You report an issue and they are at your apartment as quickly as possible to fix it. Many positive experiences with them. 4) Cleaning crew: If you get up early enough (going to work or getting free coffee – I love this by the way), you will notice the cleaning crew vacuuming the hallways, cleaning the windows, painting etc. And this happened every single day! The other day I noticed that one of the ladies was sweeping the ramp on the 2nd floor garage!! All this shows commitment to tenants, great management, and dedicated staff. I have lived in many apartments in several states and this is by far the best place where tenants need is number one priority! I highly recommend this place!
