Scott was great! Ive had several companies out over the past several years, and no one ever explained my heat pump to me. I went into maintenance and repairs understanding what was being done and why. He was quick, super efficient, very informative, and was super polite. I signed up for the annual maintenance contract because it is the best deal Ive seen - Ive had plenty of these in my life and this is the first one that offers so much in addition to the twice-a-year maintenance visit. Also, I called yesterday and had someone there within 24 hours - and Im not even an emergency call - so Flood was great about fitting a first time customer in. Highly recommend them!

I’ve been a John C. Flood customer since purchasing my home 5 years ago and I can’t recommend them highly enough! Over the years they’ve replaced my water heater, a/c, furnace, and have performed several general repairs mostly related to plumbing. The technicians, sales, and admin staff are all extremely knowledgeable, capable, and friendly. I’m usually able to get an appointment within 24 hours of calling and their prices are reasonable. Excellent service, no nonsense. Our AC was blowing warm air on the hottest day of the year. They were able to get us a tech the same day, and the issue was completely resolved within 45 minutes of arrival. Did not upcharge or do anything that felt dubious. Really excellent experience. John C Flood of VA seems to be a pretty good outfit, at least so far. Very professional staff, quick service, etc. One particular technician, Jason Robey, really is outstanding - super knowledgeable, passionate about the work and seems to have a tremendous amount of patience - exactly what a homeowner wants when a technician comes out. I recommend this company and this tech!

I thought long and hard on this, but I feel very abused. I accepted a “New Customer” $79 visit to fix a contactor on my AC that would not stop running. Please know the technician was great and not at fault here. He is just a pawn in the system. He will do and charge what his electronic pad says to do. My $79 visit plus what I later confirmed with an AC parts house to be a $50 part (an even as low as $25 on Amazon) ended up being $340 for a less than one hour visit. Now assume the tech made $100k per year, that’s $50 per hour. And double that for the company to get the same. I’m not sure where the $79 fits in, but at an absolute maximum, I can not see how a less than one hour visit to do this simple install could be more than $200 or so. In fact, the internet quotes this total replacement task as being a total of $90 to $180 depending where you live. I simply feel taken and I ask others to be careful. I realize this is Washington DC, but that should not matter when prices this high are placed on the customer. Yes, I have the option of not being a repeat customer, but I truly feel used here.

Had J.C. Flood install a new HVAC system for our recently purchased house. They gave a great estimate that tackled some of the very tricky problems of our previously poorly done setup, and were able to schedule us very quickly and performed the task in less time than expected and were incredible throughout.

Andys professionalism and problem-solving expertise turned what could have been a very complex rehanging of our entry hall chandelier into a fairly quick and simple repair. His thorough evaluation of the problem prevented it from becoming much worse (it turned out that the chandelier was at risk of falling due to a failed part from the manufacturer). He saved us money and a lot of potential damage by going the extra mile in investigating the problem, and we are very grateful.

Were getting a new refrigerator, and needed a shut off valve installed behind the refrigerator in order for the delivery person to install the refrigerator. Damon arrived early to do an estimate. He recommended a low cost way to meet the requirement which didnt require installing a new water line. He obtained the needed parts, and installed a new 1/4” pex valve. So there was no need for a second visit. Great job!

After a somewhat nightmarish experience with a different company, John C. Flood was a delightful company to work with. They were super responsive, reasonably priced, and everyone I spoke to was kind and helpful. Bruce and the other technician were quick and efficient. They explained what they were doing, what I should expect, what the warranties were and were in and out in an hour. After a week with no water due to a broken shut off valve, I am so grateful to them for getting everything taken care of in less than 24 hours. Never thought I’d say it but I’m looking forward to doing the dishes.

I awoke around 7:00 a.m. to the sound of water cascading down my water heater. Flood was able to get there within hours, and I had a new water heater by mid-afternoon. They were very professional, and did a good job of cleaning up when they were finished. I will call again next time I need a plumber!

Flood.They sent out an electrician, Andy, right away. He was able to assess the need with a review of our requirements and also making sure he and we understood our goal. In this case, we wanted to have a generator tie switch wired into our main circuit breaker panel to keep the lights on and refrigerator operational, automatically, during a power failure. The tie switch would allow us to plug in a portable energy storage system that would automatically run our appliances from its stored battery.My takeaways from this install:1. The technicians assessment and estimate were spot on. Moreover, he was extremely knowledgeable about the operation of the generator tie switch and how to balance out the circuits to work with our battery system.2. The company is not the lowest priced BUT you get what you pay for and this was a top notch professional installation.3. My cellar flooded and I have a sump pump so I called john c flood to have it inspected. The guy came out and looked at it for less than 5 minutes and told me it was water coming in through the foundation and there was nothing he could do then charged me $100 and left.

Daniel Moore of John C. Flood provided semi-annual inspection and service of our AC and heating system this week. He was on time, very good company, completely professional, and quickly identified and proposed a sensible solution to a mold problem in an air handler and air cavitation in a circulation pump in our baseboard hot water heating system. He also completely cleaned the coils on our two AC units, something that other technicians inexplicably had overlooked. We were totally satisfied with his work and his interactions with us. Frankly, well look forward to his next visit, this fall, because we know hell provide sound advice and service, but hell also be welcome in our home as a good man.

Air handler not properly installed. Dale Gunn rewired pump, installed p-joint on condensate line, etc. Fully explained everything happening with my unit. Would recommend John C. Flood for HVAC needs. Will definitely use them again to have additional work/follow-up done.

The tech showed up and supposedly tested the a/c and furnace. He said the a/c was fine except for one small issue and it probably wouldnt last through the summer. If it was fine then how would it not last. Said the furnace motor was running hot. He got it in his head that the problem was with the thermostat. He replaced it for a total of $450! My husband kept telling him that the air coming out wasnt cool but he said its humid outside so it wont feel cold What? I felt ripped off after he left because the house refused to cool down. I could hear the a/c unit trying to come on and pulling a lot of power from the house. Keep in mind that it wasnt doing that before he came. I looked online and the thermostat was only $70. With the service call, it was a 400% markup! We had another company come out that evening. The guy immediately pulled the fuse because it wasnt running right and he wanted to keep it from burning out until he could diagnose the problem. Well, it was burned out. There were a bunch of issues the second company found and they questioned who did the original service call. John C. Flood knows NOTHING about HVAC systems. They are supposed to be refunding most of our money and they can have their thermostat back. We called and complained and the manager said that the second guy (who is the owner and we know him and trust him) didnt know what he was doing. Well, we had 2 more companies come out to give us an estimate on a new HVAC system and they both agreed with the second company. Stay as far away from John C. Flood as possible! I would give them zero stars if I could. They were also supposed to come back that same evening to talk about fixing the motor (they never did but did eventually offer to come out 4 days later). I have no proof of this but I am wondering if they sabotaged the system to make a sale.

I have been with John C. Flood for a while. My AC unit stopped working so I called for service. The first repair man couldnt diagnose anything because the unit was frozen. The second repair man changed the capacitor but had no idea whether or if that would solve the freezing problem. The third person, the foreman and most experienced of the lot, had no idea what caused the freezing nor how to solve the freezing issue. He changed the fuse and left. While I was inspecting my roof I noticed the insulation on the AC lines was badly worn. After some research, I learned insulating these lines is key to efficient performance. I decided to replace the insulation myself. I found a hole in one of the copper pipes. During the last visit, I asked about the rotted installation and the water stain on the roof where the pipe leak was and John C Flood person did not seem interested in exploring these issues or interested in advising me to insulate the pipes. To my mind, an experienced AC organization should have inspected the source of the water stains and recommend the insulation be replaced. Had John Flood done that they would have caught the leak. Bottomline: There is no replacement for you the home owner checking behind any service person in your home. Be vigilant and ask questions. What is worse I paid at least $99 each time a person came to my home and still no one knows why the unit was freezing.

Unfortunately I can’t give this company a good review. Jason came in within the time window. Although he diagnosed the problem, his diagnosis wasn’t accurate at all. He suggested an unnecessary cleanup of the compressor outside and cleanup the inside unit as well due to some dust buildup, which was going to cost over $700 for an hour and a half of work.Moreover, he primarily suggested I had to change the whole HVAC system due to its age.So i had to ask a second opinion, which gave me the correct solution. He just had to add freeOn to get the correct system pressures levels and it cost me a fraction of Jason’s estimated work, which in the end, it would have been a complete waste of money and time. Additionally, I’m sure he would have pushed me to buy a new unit after that.In summary, I will not use John C. Flood services again.

We have used John C Flood for many plumbing repairs over the last 20 years, as this is the sixth event. We had a pressure reducing valve inserted into the main feedwater line to our home with two isolation valves and an expansion tank added to our hot water heater to accommodate the pressure changes on the hot water heater. The entire job took 3 hours including time to retrieve parts from the Flood warehouse. They used all made in the USA parts from copper and brass. The plumber, Richard Cloud also pointed out the errors made by the previous plumber that had come from Len the Plumber who installed two shutoff valves in the wrong direction and left three valves leaking while hired to just replace a utility sink fixture. Within the three hours Mr. Cloud performed efficiently and with true expert professionalism. I rate him and the Flood organization as the best in the metropolitan Washington DC area. Numero Uno.

After the first visit, the plumber was supposed to come back with parts to do the repairs. 10-2 on the first day passed with no one coming nor the courtesy of a phone call. Then I received an email saying the plumber would come 10-2 on another day, and again he didnt show, no one called to explain he wasnt coming or why he didnt come. I might not have wondered this in the beforetimes, but now I cant help wondering if it was because I am not white. Whatever the reasons, we wont be calling Flood again.

Complete rip-off. Made it sound like such a major job with so much involved, expensive quote. Did the actual work in minutes, left a mess, didn’t solve the problem. Didn’t provide promised sewer line inspection.

The technician was very helpful and answered questions that I had regarding the filters. I was given a four hour window of time for his arrival so planned my schedule accordingly but had to call after the window of time was over and was told that he was running late. I would have appreciated a call to let me know so that I could have planned differently. Otherwise, the service was good and the technician followed all protocols for COVID.

I have had an annual maintenance contract with JC FLood for going on 25 yrs and the cost has been well worth it. They’ve fixed leaking pipes, installed and maintained HVAC, replaced faucets and toilets, replaced water heater, and other things I can’t remember right now. They are ALWAYS on time and all service people are professional and careful to keep my place clean. I know some people think annual maintenance contracts are a rip-off but as a know-nothing first-time homeowner I have definitely gotten my money’s worth from this company. Always answering their phone, even on weekends, and always coming within the time window they promised are such valuable services. They also text/email you a photo of the service person who’s coming and he/she texts you when they’re on their way so you know exactly when to leave work or get back from shopping during the 3 or 4 hour arrival window you’ve been given. Very professional and reliable company.

Eric was a super knowledgeable, professional, and courteous technician. He diagnosed several problems with our hot water heater quickly and was able to install a new one same day. Really appreciated the quick turnaround time and his clear explanations of things that werent up to code. I had full confidence in his ability to do the work right, something that hasnt always been a guarantee with other companies Ive used.

The service was prompt. But the installation cost was too high. In Home Depot the cost of installation is about 100$. Here I was charged 600$ which includes the Dispenser which may cost 100$. The explanation offered that it is a big company and as such we have pay high cost was not plausible. The entire job took less than an hour. Just because I had gotten the entire plumbing installation from them I thought I would be reasonably charged. Also to diagnose the problem ( took one minute)which I knew( water leakage), they charge 98$ and that would not be deducted from the installation cost. Other companies deduct that if they do the installation. This was too much. I would suggest anyone to first get an estimate from others and take a decision. In my case I was in a hurry and I paid the price for it.

Ricardo recently solved several plumbing problems at our residence. We were very positively impressed by his interaction with us as well as his technical skills. He listened very carefully to all our concerns and he proposed options that would solve them. Ricardo repaired a drain stack, copper supply lines and old valves, and replaced two sets of sink faucets. Our plumbing is quite old, and was very willing to spend all the time required to deal with the obsolete technology and put the old systems back into shape and performing well.

Traditionally when you get a service technician (lets say from an internet or cable service provider) theyll give you some insane time window and even then theyll be late; you waste your whole day for a ten minute visit.Not with John C. Flood. My technician Scott said hed be at my place at 7am - I got a text at 640 that he was on his way, and he was in my driveway at 7:01.Kind, courteous, professional - he was quick and efficient, and checked everything.Listen, if you want proper service for your HVAC, use John C. Flood. If you live in Western Loudoun, ask for Scott. I mean, yeah, he was Army, but dont hold that against him. Just tell him Marines are better. Thatll make him work harder.

Saturday morning On a 93 degree day my AC stopped working. I called around and couldn’t get anybody to come out that day. I call John C Flood and they came right away. The person was professional and did the job fast.

The technician was very personable and on protocol by wearing shoe cover and mask at all times. He went right to work, assessed the problem and fixed it. He offered solutions for possible other problems and gave me a quote. I was very pleased with his work and conversation was compassionate (as I was going thru a tough time right now). I would use him and Flood again. Thank you.

The gentleman was very professional and quick. He informed me kitchen faucets tend to last only around ten years so that will be next on my list. I preferred using John C Flood after a horrendous experience with Angies List I feel there is recourse with them and not Angie’s.
