BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING BEFORE GOING HERE!I have contacted this office several times in reference to my husband, refund that is past due from a visit in June 2021. Each call we were given an excuse as to why the refund wasnt initiated, and told allow 4-6 weeks. This is beyond ridiculous and unethical! Humana also reached out to this practice inquiring about our refund and still no refund. We followed Dr. Johnson from his previously Dunwoody practice because he is such a great doctor. However, my husband and I now question the unethical practices in this office. You are accepting the insurance assignments and taking money from the patients upfront that you should not. I have sent a letter to Humana and the insurance commissioners office requesting that an audit be scheduled to review ALL your patient accounts. This has to stop one way or another.I am more than positive we are not the only patients that Coast Dental owes refunds to from GOD knows how long ago. This issue needs to be reviewed and resolved. I am requesting a copy of your refund protocol to be posted and followed. I have advised Humana of your provider contract violation, due to you illegally balance billing multiple patients. After reading other reviews it confirms that this is a unethical routine. With multiple patients having credit balances (refunds due), that arent resolved proves this is a known illegal practice of Coast Dental stealing patient monies and not returning known refunds, after posting insurance explanation of benefits.I will not stop here, you will be exposed!

Altamonte Springs location had the WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER! An employee actually pushed my hand with her nails. She claimed I put my hand in her face. She was confrontational and 3 employees caused me to have a panic attack. I have attempted to contact Corporate. Of course the website is horrible. The worst possible thing we couldve ever done was pay almost $1,000 UPFRONT. We just need our refund. Their apologies to my husband is moot and I am still overwhelmed with how 3 women made me feel as if I was being unreasonable by asking if I could remain with my husband who battles Epilepsy and memory loss. As opposed to de-escalating my apparent disappointment and anxiety, I feel their unprofessional attitudes and lack of compassion left me feeling challenged. What was wrong with the Dental Tech taking us to a private area and calmly explaining their biohazard protocols? My husband has only 1 TOOTH LEFT, due to grinding his teeth during grand mal seizures and the anti-seizure medication. SMH

I have been attending Coat dental located on Big Bend road for years Dr.Pratt is an awesome dentist, however his new front desk employee name Brandy called me a day before my appointment stating that she couldn’t verify my member Id asking if I got new insurance, I can explain to her that my insurance has never changed, she then ask for my social security number??? Very sketchy I replied and told her no I would no be offering that information, but will reiterate my member Id number if she needed it, magically she was able to find my insurance? So I arrive to my appointment within the 10 minute grace period, while standing there with no greeting from the front desk brandy informed me that i was one minute after the 10 minute grace period and would have to reschedule?? I left as there are many dentists in Tampa Florida however I felt compelled to let her supervisor know that she is improperly identifying customers by asking for their social security number and appears she might be trying to use it. Y’all be careful it’s a lot of people hiding behind jobs committing fraud .

This review is for the Spring Hill North (Brooksville) location.I wish I could rate this place with a negative number of stars. My first contact with them was to schedule an exam, xrays, & cleanings for my husband & I. On the morning of the appointment, they called & cancelled. (Mind you, I had already taken the morning off from work.) Okay, stuff happens. For the next first appointment, we arrived early as we were instructed to do because we were new patients. We waited 45 mins. I admit that the dentist was very nice for the 3 minutes that I spent with him. When I got into the chair, I was informed that they dont do cleanings on the first visit. I was very disappointed as we had discussed this when making the first appointment because getting time off work every couple of weeks for dental work is not easy for me. They basically had a “too bad” attitude & told me that I shouldn’t have been told that they would perform the cleanings by the receptionist. Okay, just a misunderstanding.Next they advise that I have a deep cleaning & even with my dental ins, it will be almost $400. (200 for each of 2 more visits) & that I will need to do this 3x a year instead of twice a year because my gums are so bad. I have never had a dentist tell me that. I’m a little weary about it but I agreed & met my husband out front to sched our next appts. He too was advised that he needs deep cleaning, 2 fillings, & 3 crowns…totaling almost $2K with my ins. I asked them if his BCBS-Florida Blue Medicare Advantage would cover some of that & she said “We don’t bill secondary ins for you”. Gee thanks! We made appts to return in a couple of weeks to get started. The day after our visit, I call his BCBS & they tell me that they would have paid the $28 my husband was charged for his exam & xrays at 100% if they were billed as primary. DON’T YOU THINK SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT??So, now the week before our appts, they call to see if we can come in that day because they have had some cancellations. I explain that I can’t get time off work that quickly. I told her to bill my husbands BCBS from now on as primary and she said she would “try”. I also told her that I thought it over and decided against the deep cleaning. She put me on hold to check (the one with the really deep voice) & came back to the phone and said that the doctor said I had to have it done because I had an infection in my gums??? No one told me that when I was there & I wasn’t sent home with any prescription antibiotics. She also said if I didn’t do the deep cleanings, they couldn’t keep seeing me as their patient. OK!The next day, I get another call to see if we can come in because they have openings. I explained again that I can’t change dates off at work like that. This woman explained that she would write that in my file. 3rd day in a row I get a call from them to see if I can change. NOW I’m starting to really get upset & tell her the same thing I have now said for 3 days in a row. (Mind you these calls are during the day and my employer frowns on too many personal calls.) I am unable to switch days because of my job and she pauses for a bit and says, “well we have a problem…your hygienist is now only part-time and we HAVE to reschedule you anyway.NOW, I’M DONE. I TELL HER AS MUCH. I ask how to get my records & she tells me I will have to sign a release form. She took my fax # & said she would fax them to me. I called to find out why I hadn’t rcvd the fax & the lady that answered said there wasn’t any notes in my file about any of thi.ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She also tells me that I can’t do it by fax, but I can go onto their website for instructions about how to get my records. The ph calls to reschedule were Mon 4/5/21, Tues 4/6/21, & Wed 4/7/21. Our appts were sched for 4/13/21. Sat 4/10/21 I get a text to confirm & then a phone call to confirm. I tell the lady that I wouldn’t let them do an exam on a doll!Guess what?? They texted Tue 4/13/21 in the AM to confirm his afternoon appt --- THAT THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESCHEDULE?

We could not get Ortho service or even anyone to return a phone call. The office closed in March and we had no way to contact anyone or get a return phone call until the beginning of July. That’s a long time to leave people that are currently in treatment with no service. Due to this irresponsible behavior, my daughter’s ortho care was transferred to a much more professional and responsive place. In addition to all of this, the refund due for ‘services’ is being calculated to include these 4 months when absolutely no services were rendered.

Dr. Khan said the procedure would likely take 2 visits, but the procedure went so well that she completed it in just 1 visit. Dr. Khan came highly recommended to me by others and I can agree with them that she is excellent in the field of dentistry and endodontistry. My daughter was a patient at the Venice location for 3-4 months and had needed extensive dental work due to a motorized scooter accident. She had fractured or damaged 12 teeth. The entire time my daughter went to the Venice office, Dr. Noriega, the dentist, never had a clear plan of treatment and only saw my daughter a handful of times throughout these months. She performed 2 root canals on front teeth that were broken but refused to crown them. Instead she tried to shape the part of the missing tooth using a resin composite. The resin turned grey within a few days and now looks just as bad as if they had just left her teeth in the fractured state that they were in.The office manager Brandy in Venice is nasty and unprofessional. They overcharged for services and have not refunded any money. My daughter is now seeing a new dentist who is repairing my daughters teeth properly, putting crowns on teeth that should have had them months ago.I have tried for 2 months dealing with the corporate office, specifically Ellen Rivers, who has done nothing but give false information and stall. She had stated last month that she would open a formal complaint for me against the Venice office and personally finish the refund paperwork that was never completed in its entirety by the Venice location. None of this ever happened. Everything Ellen stated never happened. We will now have to take this to civil court just to get our refund due and also address the shoddy dental work my daughter received at the Venice office, as well as Dr. Noriega putting my daughters teeth at risk by not crowning root canals, missing fractured teeth that needed repair, and letting way too much time go by between each visit. You can say whatever you want to this company and they dont care. Their reputation must mean nothing to them on ALL levels, even the corporate level.I am completely disgusted with this company. This company is awful. They did x-rays that werent covered by insurance (they did them in Feb, but insurance wouldnt cover them until June) and wanted me to pay $100s of dollars for them. I told them that if they werent covered, they shouldnt have done them. They knew I was coming and should have pre-submitted information to the insurance company before doing anything like that. Then they said that would re-submit the x-rays under different codes to try to get some of the money back from the insurance company...That wasnt honest at all. They have codes for things that my insurance company says are not actual dental codes but something that they made up. They seem to always try to sell something or up-charge you in an attempt to get you to pay for extra items.I had a temporary crown come off over 4 times while waiting on my permanent crown. It took 4 different dental technicians to make a proper crown and one that would stay until my permanent crown came. When it came, it fit perfectly though. I was pleasantly surprised by that.My latest issue: I made an appointment months ago since Im a periodontal patient and have to be seen every 4 months. I was unaware that I had to verbally speak to someone to confirm my appointment or they would cancel it. Normally, making an appointment has been enough and some doctors offices that Ive been to communicate that they will charge you a no-show fee of $x if you dont show up. I find that to be acceptable if thats communicated, but why remove someone from a slot if they dont cancel? Nowhere is mandatory verbal confirmation of an appointment communicated to the patient. I have never had that happen to me before and I am married with 4 children so appointments are regularly made by me. When I arrived at my appointment, they said since I didnt speak to someone, they would have to reschedule me I was DONE. If I signed something and agreed to that, I would understand, but thats not an office practice or policy so I dont see how that is fair to the patient to enforce it. I didnt go into work today because of this appointment being on my calendar. Its just been bad experience upon bad experience to the point that I have chosen to stop going to this practice. I instead decided to call corporate, but I ended up leaving a message there so we will see if they call back.

After numerous phone calls, two registered letters with documentation of the details (invoices, credit card statements insurance EOBs), and the recent filing of a complaint with the Florida Better Business Bureau, today -- nearly one year after Coast Dental received payment -- the amount of overpayment was credited to my Visa account. The Florida BBB was instrumental in helping me resolve this matter and I thank them.My advice to prospective customers: Do not pay in advance. Better advice: Seek dental care elsewhere.

There was complaints posted, then suddenly disappeared and somehow erased?Nothing is seen now of the documentation of unsatisfactory workmanship which had to be completely redone by another dentist -- after she was paid more than $1500 for 2 crowns. She botched them up so badly that pain resumed shortly after they she finished, along with several other outlandish charges, all in the last few months. Is that Coastal Dentists quality assurance practice -- just delete complaints? And how to I contact a real quality assurance number for complaints? The Better Budiness Bureau? This isnt going to be erased away -- trust me.

WORST ORTHODONTICS IN TOWN, PERHAPS IN FLORIDA.As a medical administration professional myself, THIS IS THE WORST REVIEW I HAVE EVER GIVEN A SINGLE MEDICAL OR DENTAL PRACTICE. Massive revolving staff turn over, and staff who simply do not care about patients or clients. You are literally flushing your money down the drain by investing in orthodontics at this place. The lengthy treatment and pain and chaotic office will not be worth it. Unprofessional, tactless novice, amateur staff. Everyone from the receptionist who is always impatient , and never answers the phone. To the crass, tactless office manager , to the revolving door of Orthodontic staff. This place needs to be rated HORRID by the BBB. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Terrible Management, terrible team work, terrible leadership. This is coming from someone who has worked years in Medical office Administration. This place NEVER ANSWERS THE PHONE, SCREWS UP THE SCHEDULE, AND WILL SCREW UP TIME AND TIME AGAIN YOUR ORTHO PROCESSES, WHILE CHARGING AND CHARGING. This is the WORST REVIEW I HAVE EVER GIVEN FOR ANY MEDICAL PRACTICE EVER.

This is the worst place in the world. I only gave them a one because you had to to complete the post. After being a patient at the office for 10 years, they told me I had a cavity. It had been there for 5 years. They took my money for a crown the tooth ended up getting pulled and now they wont even refund my money for services that were not performed. The ladies in the office are wonderful and Dr. Thomas has been great but now I dont feel comfortable going back to Coast at all.I would not recommend Coast to my worst enemy.

Please be careful. I went to an Ortho consultation and was going to move forward with getting braces, however when I found out the orthodontist would be soon leaving, I decided to wait until meeting the new person. The assistant ask me for information to get an increase on my Care Credit account and I had to get on the phone to verify my Id to get cleared. Next he kept trying to pressure me to sign papers but I would not. When I received my CC statement, I had been charged over $2800 for services I hadnt agreed to have. I called the Northlake office and spoke to supervisor who said she would check into it and call me back. Months have past, and Ive still not heard anything from Coast. Thankfully the CC company did their own investigation and removed the charge. Ive also left several messages with the cooperative office but have had no response.

Absolutely horrendous. they overcharge you and then never pay you back!!! they tell you you have more than you actually have. i was told that i needed three extractions and had to go back every three months for a deep cleaning, well noo, i did not need any of that. So please stay away from this for ONLY profit corporation. they will not be honest because they need to make a quota per month or get fired!!

I was overcharged by more than 200 dollars for a visit in February 2016 at the Lakeland Coast Dental on Socrum Loop. I was not informed of the overcharge, which resulted in a credit to my account. I wanted the money refunded to the credit card I paid with. Coast Dental would not allow me to get my money back at the Lakeland office, and I was told that Corporate would have to authorize a refund. This process would take 6-8 weeks, however, it took much longer than that. I had to call the Corporate Offices multiple times on multiple days to finally speak with someone. They eventually processed my refund, at the end of July 2016, after I spoke with two managers. Overall, I felt like I had to work to get my own money back. A problem I never wouldve had if it wasnt for their mistake of overcharging my credit card in the first place. I will never go to another Coast Dental because of this ordeal and I would strongly advise anyone to stay away, so something like this does not happen to you too.

I had appointment 10:00 yesterday a.m. to asses a bridge that broke within 4 years of getting it... ironic thing is that it is only warrantied for 4 years. After X-rays and the dentist providing me with a new dental plan... the dental assistant attempted to glue back on the temporary crown to hold me over. After several attempts at failing and hurting my mouth, she called in the dentist to do and the dentist said she did it incorrectly in front of me. Four hours later and missed work, the temporary bridge was glued back in. They did this so I would have time to consult with my insurance company, schedule an endodontist appt for a root canal and extract a tooth. Then after all of that... they wanting me back at Coastal to schedule to redo bridge. I’m not sure what to do at this point because I do not have the time to go back right now to get my bridge glued back into place after it lasted one day. I missing 3 teeth and have professional sales job. I paid $85.00 yesterday for this glued bridge and i expect to be refunded. You have my HSA debit card that you can refund the money back on to. I will give you a follow up call tomorrow.

This company is horrible when it comes to billing. They mishandle patient claims, cause billing errors that result in collections and reports to credit bureau without contact the customer directly to inform of the mistakes that they made. This is the second time they have messed up my claims even when the first time I took a 2 year hiatus from this place and decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately I have no other options but to seek legal advice. This place doesnt even deserve 1 star!!!!

If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would... (shame on you GOOGLE). I went to the lakeland office on 5381 N SOCRUM LOOP RD, LAKELAND,FL 33809. I wish I had taken the time to read these reviews beforehand. Please dont make the same mistake. I went for a FREE annual checkup and cleaning. When I arrived for my appointment at the scheduled time.. no one was there. They hadnt even made it to the office. One lady standing with me said they do that to people often. When I finally was getting prepped to go back they stopped me with the ledger saying I needed to pay $219.00.. mind you they had already taken my Metlife insurance information. They kept pressuring me and taking things off of my exam to lower the price and STILL made me pay $23.00 for panoramic views Before going back. After 2 hours of them sending in people to ask for more money for cancer screenings and other things I left and called my insurance company. Might I add that they didnt even clean my teeth and only did xrays which I didnt want. I came for my yearly free cleaning. My insurance company was floored and couldnt believe they purposely left off panoramic views so that they could charge me separately for it. They couldnt believe i didnt get my yearly cleaning. My appointment was February 22nd. It is now June 6th. My insurance company sent their office a letter dated May 1st. I finally was able to get someone to answer the phone and had to get out of character before they stopped trying to justify the fact that they lied to me. The office manager Elisa told me it would be another 6-8 weeks from today for corporate to process my refund. These employees take advantage of innocent people that only want to receive care for what they pay insurance for.

I have no idea what the new bill is for and they cant explain it to me. Ive called their billing dept several times-they do not pick up and then do not respond to my voicemails. Of course if I dont pay their fantasy bill they will send it to collections and ruin my credit.

I have spent over $10,000.00 to have my lower teeth crowned due to wear from 56 years of use with coast dental Vero Beach and my NEW teeth have been falling out and are now decaying due to improper dental practices. I have had 3 different dentists within the group, the last 2 complaining about the work that each other had done. I have been going back and forth with these barbarians for almost a year now after the 3rd dentist told corporate to give me a refund because they did an improper job in Vero. HE WOULDNT EVEN CEMENT MY TEETH BACK IN BECAUSE HE SAID I HAD DECAY BELOW THE GUM LINE...THIS WAS 6 MONTHS AFTER THE PROCEDURE!!! While visiting Tampa I stopped by their offices Monday with the hope of getting some type of closure without threatening anyone. I am a very civil person. I was surprised to see that the MAIN doors to the corporate office are kept locked. I knocked and was let in by the new employee. She didnt know any better. I waited for 20 minutes only to be told that no one would come out to speak with me from behind fortress #2! Thats when I told her to tell them that I would not leave until someone would review my case with me since they never return phone calls. Thats when security was called and I was escorted out. I am currently working with the Florida Department of Health, Humana Insurance, and others to make sure that they cannot get away with this type of conduct in the State of Florida. READ THE REVIEWS ON THEM...YOULL BE AT IT FOR A WHILE. I believe that their CEO is a VETERINARIAN, not a dentist but you might check on that one for yourself. (If thats the case its no wonder they dont know how to take care of people!)Please do your homework before you go to these people. They oversell everything, under staff everywhere, and abandon you after milking you and your insurance company for all they can...THEY MUST BE STOPPED!!!

PLEASE!!!!!!!! Never never go to ANY of the Coastal Dental service providers. All of the Coast Dental locations are designed to use scare tactics during the exam, to prompt you to pay for additional x-rays or services that you do not need and then they will attempt to sell you on thousands of dollars of future treatment that you also do not need.I come from a medical background and had been appalled at the scare tactics during the exam that the dentist used, the big lit up warning postings on the walls and the abuse of insurance coverage. At that time I had full coverage dental insurance (Delta Dental) and made an appointment for a basic exam, bi-annual x-rays and a basic cleaning. I had no present issues with my teeth nor gums.I left with an over $1000 estimate for periodontal root planing and more services. I also had to pay before I left 20$ for a 2nd set of -rays via a pano panoramic film of which I did not need and it was not covered by my insurance. Also, they refused to do a basic teeth cleaning and polish that day which would have been covered by my insurance. The reason given is that the dentist had ordered a more comprehensive cleaning, the $1000 root planing and that is the only service they could provide per the DMD orders. After the appointment I had two dentists who examined me that stated that I did not need the over $1000 services. After teh appointments they were shown the original bill as well as the estimate for future services and the staff there were just as appalled.Ten months (2/27/15) after the original visit 4/14 I received a bill for 10$ because that portion of the bill that had been submitted had been denied by the insurance co.I have reported this to my insurance company and the FL Dental Society. My elderly parents, I had found out later, also had an appointment at another Coast Dental in the Tampa Bay area. They both left the appointment after a basic cleaning and x-rays with an estimate of needing 7 crowns between the two of them. The estimates were a total of over $3500 and my parents have very good private dental insurance. Both of my parents waited and when they returned to their primary residence up north they visited their dentist of many years who confirmed that they do not need the crowns that the COAST DENTAL DMD had said they needed. As a wrap up, what I thought would be a basic exam with basic x-rays and teeth cleaning that would be 100% reimbursed by my insurance had turned into a not even 5 minute Dentist exam, 2 sets of x-rays and NO CLEANING.But I walked out with an estimate for over 1000$ of services that I did not need and it cost me $20 out of pocket. Now, almost a year later I am fighting with them to clear my account to a zero balance.P.S. During my appointment at Coast Dental on West Bay in Bellaire Fl , there were two different very irate customers in the lobby who were yelling to the staff on the topic of billing, insurance and their services.THIS WOULD BE A GREAT INSIDE INVESTIGATION FOR THE TAMPA BAY NINE NEWS TO BROADCAST!!!!Brigitte Miner
