I gave them the repairs needed per the dealership. It turns out the majority of those repairs were not required. They could have performed them anyway without notifying me but instead they let me know those additional items were not needed. They saved me a great deal of money.

So I took my car here few weeks ago and had the mo ey to pay for my silinoid to be fixed. Later on that day my car is done and Im told they looked it over and only did a oil change nothing was wrong with it. Today my boyfriend takes it into you guys again today. Im now told everything and I mean everything that I said was wrong with it is what they say is wrong with it today and want to do all this work for x amount of dollars. I was charged for a diagnostics which confused me because when I took it in two weeks ago I was told nothing was wrong and was charged 90 $ , no charge for diagnostics, why today I had to pay for a diagnostics plus now you guys see the problem and now yes my car is messed up. Also you left my resevoir tank cap open which in turn made the antifreeze come out and make it even worse. Im not happy with your service. I feel like you guys tried to make us feel good about the car two weeks ago and then come at us this week with a crazy number and tell us all this stuff is wrong. Why didnt you tell us this stuff two weeks ago. Now I cannot make it to my jobs or anything. Because of your guys incompetence to look at the vehicle two weeks ago when I said then drive it . Nobody drove that car anywhere and test drove it I took a pic of the speedometer. Not happy wont be coming back and will not reccomend to anyone of the foriegn families no more

Ive taken my Mini Cooper to SAS twice now for different jobs, and have not been particularly impressed. I had some weird error codes and MINI gave me a crazy high quote to look at it. I wanted peace of mind with my car for a lower cost than the dealership. The first time I hit a rock on the road and needed parts replaced. They did an inspection and replaced the parts they found to be damaged. After taking about a week to do the repairs, they did another inspection and found more parts that had to be replaced! So, after clearing the extra repairs with my insurance, they spent another week replacing damaged parts that they missed the first time. My insurance would have totaled the car if they found all the damage initially, so Im not terribly angry about this but wish they hadnt missed important details and could have done the work faster. The second time, I went in for a thumping noise and some error codes. They inspected my suspension, and found a leaky shock. They didnt suggest I get it fixed, simply told me the problem. They used their diagnostics computer to clear the codes without looking into why the codes were even coming up, which to me seems like treating the symptom before the cause. Naturally, when I went to pick up my car, the same error codes came right back as soon as I started the car! I spent an hour troubleshooting with them, and the problem was the extra current from having 2 bulbs in parallel caused the computer to think there was a short and throw an error. I suggested removing the high-current bulbs, and after saying it would make no difference, they finally did so and the problem was fixed.Additionally, they found one of my brake wear sensors to be broken and again, simply told me about it and didnt offer to fix it. The error code for that is still on, and I will do the work myself rather than pay them to guess at how to fix things. In conclusion, this is not the place to go for peace-of-mind when you have problems with your european car. They are not particularly fast, quite expensive (labor runs $114/hr), and do not understand the principles behind the computers running todays cars.

I inherited an old 2001 volvo from my parents. Mechanically sound for the most. Just some minor issues here and there. SAS has always worked from small to the bigger issue (if there is one) and treated me well. Yes it’s expensive to fix here, but that’s literally because of the car make.I just generally feel they are always fair with me and good at what they do. Thanks SAS

SAS replaced the alternator in my 2008 Volvo XC90, and claimed to warranty the part and the work for 2 years. The alternator failed within that 2 years. I was visiting family in Reno when I had the alternator replaced by SAS. They would only warranty the part and service if I went to a Bosch certified shop (there are none in my Montana town). They stopped answering my phone calls for several days before I was finally able to get someone on the phone, they said they would issue a refund for the part but I would have to ship the bad alternator back to them before they would issue a refund. Again, I didn’t hear from them and finally got in touch with them over a week after they received the part. I was told both 1. That the alternator I sent wasn’t the one they put in my car (as if I’d just gone and had it replaced in the mean time or someone just accidentally put a new one in my car without me knowing) AND 2. That the part was damaged in shipping to them. So they aren’t honoring their warranty! What a bunch of scum bags. Dishonest to the core!!!

RIPPED ME OFF TO THE TUNE OF $600+. Id give NEGATIVE STARS if I could. But, yes, the auto shop that GUARANTEES ... to provide the highest customer satisfaction and specializes in ... audi ... charged me $600 for a repair that did not even begin to fix the problem for which I brought my vehicle to them. THEN to exacerbate matters, Paul tells me that SAS Automotive now believes I need to replace a $1200 part (alarm module) to fix it. WOW. JUST WOW.I dont even know where to begin and in fact, Ive had my vehicle back for weeks now and didnt know what to write in this review. SAS Automotive left me speechless because I could not find the words to describe how they TOTALLY and COMPLETELY RIPPED ME OFF. I asked Paul if he could give me a discount and he told me that he didnt have any room to do so.Brought my vehicle in because the alarm kept going off. After SAS assessed it, they called me to say that my car needed a drivers side door lock/latch and it would cost $600. The car is a 2001 Audi, but I love it because its a fun little car to drive and I had just had the brakes done elsewhere, so there werent any other issues other than the alarm going off. So, I said yes to the repair believing and relying SAS Autos expertise and touting themselves as specialists on European vehicles, and specifically Audi (they have a YouTube video claiming this!), to fix the problem once and for all. BOY WAS I WRONG!!When I picked up my vehicle, I asked Paul why did they fix just the door latch/lock and not check on the alarm module (even with my not knowing about cars, if the alarm is going off, would you not check the alarm itself??!!)? Paul insisted that they kept getting an error code for the door lock and I guess, in the world of auto repair, you dont go beyond that especially if you can RIP OFF your customer for a $600 UNNECESSARY REPAIR, then hit them with a $1200+ estimate for a repair that would probably fix the problem. And of course, as mentioned above, Paul couldnt give me a discount because he didnt have any room to do so even though the diagnostic was $114. WHY AM I PAYING FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THAT CLEARLY RESULTED IN AN UNNECESSARY REPAIR??!!Suffice it to say, Im never coming back here and I definitely urge others to go elsewhere. This is clearly a case of BUYER BEWARE. So much for their GUARANTEEing the HIGHEST IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!!!

SAS is the only place I take my 1988 Volvo 240 for repairs. They are fellow Volvo enthusiasts and they never seem to bat an eye at my outdated set of wheels. These guys are pros at working on these luxury cars and here I am showing up with my project car and they dont treat me any different than a guy with the brand new BMW. They are fair with their pricing and honest with their work. They will always let you know what else may need attention in the near future, but they will never try to force it upon you. Also, if the notice little things that need adjusting, they might even be kind enough to fix it free of charge providing you are having other things serviced. They are a real stand up shop and I am grateful for all they have done for me and my youngtimer Volvo.

Not too impressed. They’re in a hurry and need to slow down. Labor rate is $114-hour. We had to visit them 3 times because they did sloppy work. Everyone seemed nice but I’m not happy. Total bill for electrical (2 parts), a diagnostic, and some minor leak was $1400. Suspension and struts would be another $1400.

Swedish Auto failed to fix my Audi properly. I went back 3 times and they still could not make the new parts that they installed work! They told me to go somewhere else!! I did, and that place called Automotion fixed my car properly. They said that Swedish Auto did not completely hook up the part to my car, and that they did not replace a blown fuse. I tried 3 times to get a refund from Swedish Auto, but they ignored every one of my requests. One request by USPS, another by email, and the final request was via a message to their business phone. On the message, I said that if they continued to ignore my requests for a refund, which was only a partial refund at that, I felt it necessary to file a BBB complaint and to give them a negative Yelp review. As of this posting, I did not hear from Swedish Auto. Customer service is absolutely POOR for this reason. Before writing this review, I filed a BBB complaint and posted my 1 star yelp review. Wish there was a 0 there. Thankfully there is a 0 here. But their poor business practice makes me wish for a -1 option!

Do NOT take your car here. We were referred by Reno Vulcanizing since we have a European Car (not sure about Reno Vulcanizing on Virginia either!). SAS did NOT do their own diagnostic but fixed what Reno Vulcanizing said was wrong. However, $500 later, the check engine light came back on during the DRIVE HOME. When we took it back they charged us for a diagnostic and gave a $2000 estimate. We took it to the Dealer and for less than $500 the problem was diagnosed and fixed.

We had our well maintained Volvo 740 turbo towed to SAS in March of 2017 with transmission & coolant leaks. We informed the shop that it was leaking coolant and transmission fluid.A day later we get a call saying that the transmission needs many seals replaced for ~$1100. We told them wed find a used transmission and have it shipped to them.Day later - we order used transmission ($450) from a reputable source out of a low mile car with a 6 month warranty. Have it shipped to SAS. Call SAS to inform it is on the way and that wed like them to also inspect and replace if necessary motor & transmission mounts.Transmission arrives 3 days later. (5 days after we drop off the car)2 weeks later we get a call saying the car is ready to go (almost 3 weeks after dropped off). Pay ~$450 for labor. They tell us they replaced the transmission mount in our car with the used one from the transmission, as it was in better shape. We take the car home. Notice new intermittent vibration noise coming from drivetrain. Jack car up when I get home and its pissing bright green coolant & dripping tranny fluid. We bring car back next day. They tell us:The transmission drain plug needed a new o-ring. (They should have noticed this before sending the car out as it was clearly leaking and these should always be replaced when plugs are removed).Heater hoses are melting on EGR -> okay, not transmission problem, but SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED as it was VERY obviously leaking coolant on the ground & underside of car, and we told them about coolant leak when we brought the car in. Coolant is bright green. It shouldnt be all over the bottom of the motor & trans.Engine mounts are worn & the angle that the motor/tranny are sitting at due to the new mount on tranny is causing the exhaust to vibrate. We SPECIFICALLY asked them to inspect all mounts (they should have done this without being asked for the trans replacement job). They should have noticed the sound during test driving. They asked us for $575 to replace motor mounts and transmission mount (THE SAME TRANS MOUNT THAT THEY JUST REPLACED WITH A GOOD ONE). We specifically had the motor mounts inspected

SAS is absolutely the premiere shop in Northern Nevada for Volvos ( and anything else theyll do you the pleasure of working on). They have consistently treated me and my 2005 XC90 very well.Often times as women, or simply those who may not be mechanically inclined, its difficult to gauge how much of what you are being told is truth & how much of what you are charged is necessary. Certainly the stereotype of shady mechanics arose from somewhere- and SAS and their team have worked hard to turn that tide in the opposite direction. Its uncommon to walk into a shop and be treated with respect, dignity, and true care. Theres not a damn thing I wouldnt trust from SAS & they have surely made me a customer for life. For automotive experts who treat you with respect, kindness, and fairness- theres nowhere else that I would recommend more highly than SAS. Thank you Scott & Paul!
