When i was there a counselor read text messages between the two of us aloud to the group and another counselor told me that if i wasn’t bisexual then to “stop acting like it.” super abusive, easier to get sober on your own. at least the PHP. detox was fine

Liberty Bay is an incredible place that helps so many people and saves lives. If theres negative reviews on here like the woman who claimed she hadnt eaten in 3 days and demanded ice cream, which they dont have and treats staff like servants, then is anyone really surprised that she cant take accountability for her actions? I saw how she treated the staff there and was frankly disgusted. One can only imagine where her recovery or lack of is now. Alongside her integrity, non existent!

I truly believe that Liberty Bay saved my life. I have been to many other treatments in the past 8 years, and never experienced the level of care that I received at Liberty Bay. The clinical staff, medical staff and support staff had such an abundance of compassion and knowledge for us clients. IF YOU VALUE YOUR BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS then this is NOT the place for you. From the moment I arrived it was an absolute nightmare. Upon arrival they take every item of clothing and wash and dry it. They returned my clothes folded and soaking wet. They only dried them after I threatened to leave. After not eating or drinking anything for days, I asked if I could have some jello or ice cream. They told me flat out NO with no explanation. I was a fall risk and tried to use their flimsy call button to summon assistance. No show. I walked to the staff station and was reprimanded. Turns out the call button and two more they tried did not work even at close range. The self described co owner, Nathan, came in with his smug attitude saying hes a problem solver, but gave no solution. Ive grown up with alcoholism in my family and have attended countless family sessions at rehabs all throughout the the country. I can say beyond a shadow of doubt, this place is the very worst. Empathy and compassion were nowhere to be found. Making money for addict owners and staff who otherwise couldn’t prosper financially in the real world is their true mission. Once they get your money, all promises are snatched away. Truly, the worst experience of my life. So unfortunate because there is such need in Maine for addiction treatment. Because the state’s demographics do not attract high quality providers, bush league organizations like this are able to exploit the situation. They will probably respond to this review by saying my words are a symptom of my addiction but I can assure you otherwise. Beware!

Liberty Bay is the best treatment facility you will find in Maine. If you are ready and willing to surrender and get better this is the best place to go. Staff are amazing and caring. Food is great. The groups and activities are amazing. Ive been to facilities from Michigan to California and this is hands down the best and most helpful!! I am 22 this place has helped me change myself for the better. If you are thinking about treatment this is the place!

Liberty Bay saved my life.I knew that my drinking was way out of control and I knew that I had to do something about it. When I got there, just like a lot of people I immediately wanted to leave. I was depressed and scared as hell. The staff set me down and helped me realize just how much I needed to be there, they were kind caring and understanding and talked me into staying and to at least give it a chance. Please believe me, these people really care!I can tell you that there were times when we did things and I thought hey, what does this have to do with us getting sober. But if you listen and really pay attention, there is a reason and a lesson in everything they have you do. You have to go into it with an open mind.You have to do the work. Trust me, they will help you.I have been sober now for 1 year and 3 months and things get better every day. You just have to want it.It really is one day at a time.If youre thinking about going to LB then please do it, give it a chance. It will be the best decision you have ever made!Call Adam. This is NOT a dual diagnosis center. They do NOT have psychiatrists. If you need a dual diagnosis center, go to Green Mountain Treatment Center or McLean Hospital. Otherwise you will be tortured here for your mental disorder.

Liberty Bay thank you for your help during a time of immediate need for a recovery center. The recovery journey is not necessarily a path a parent plans for a child at birth so when the need arrives with an adult son it can be a time of crisis. This is THE PLACE to go if you are SERIOUS about getting clean and starting over!! Medically assisted detox is more comfortable and quicker, and the follow up care is second to none. The staff genuinely care about your success. Moderately strict, but not jail like environment. Great activities, weight room, massage, house guitars, off site meetings, on staff chef, and more!! I definitely dont want to go back, but IF I ever suffer a set back, this is my first stop.... ERC

Although Liberty Bay Recovery wasn’t able to help my son because of a condition beyond there control. Which they explained with the utmost sympathy and regret. Nate and Lesley went above and beyond to help us find a place that would. My experience with them was awesome. They are both equally knowledgeable and caring people. Liberty Bay has helped me tremendously during the past year. The staff, services and facility are top-notch. I have been through detox and attended the IOP there. The groups are extremely beneficial and run by counselors who are experienced and empathetic but do not hold back in in order to help you get to the root of your addiction. They provide you with the tools to move forward and many options for the next level of care whether it is there or elsewhere.

A very approachable staff member was tabling at a hockey game and I was able to share concerns about a family member with him. He told me about services and support options for the whole family and thats really important. Taking the first step is hard and Nathan made it easier

It is nearly 16 months that my daughter, Molly, entered treatment at Cascade Heights in Spokane. She has been sober this entire time and has worked hard to maintain that.Without your help back in Sept. 2015, I don’t think it would ever have happened. It is very possible that my daughter would not be alive today if not for your intervention.I remember that Monday, Sept. 28 very well. Molly was desperate to find a treatment option and we felt powerless trying to help her. I remembered reading an article about Operation Hope at the Scarborough Police Dept. I found the name of your treatment facility in the article and quickly called Liberty Bay hoping this would be the kind of place we were looking for.I was crushed when you told me that you were a men only facility. But you said you had a sister facility in Washington state and that you would fly her out there if she was ready to go. . The idea of her traveling all the way across country was almost out of the question. I remember you being so supportive and helpful that it seemed too good to be true. Molly agreed to go which took an unbelievable amount of courage and faith on her part.After visiting your place that day, I took her to the airport and she started her journey. It is a journey that she is till on and will be for a long time, I believe. It is a journey that you helped start.Looking back, it comes as close to a miracle as I’ve ever seen. You helped to make that happen and Molly, her mother and I want you to know that we will never forget you for that.

Liberty Bay has opened doors for my life in which I could not see possible before attending treatment there. The staff is beyond dedicated to the treatment of their clients and the results show in each and every one of the faces that have found a new freedom, and a new happiness. Nate is an amazing person he personally opened up a womans sober living in Prescott, AZ that I stayed at for 9 months of my recovery. I truly do not know if I would be a sober woman with a beautiful life today without the opportunity and support he gave me. I have been to over 10 different treatment facilities over the past few years in my addiction and I can easily say Liberty Bay is by far the best. instead of surface level usual stuff that happens in treatment at LB they get to the route of the problem. The staff genuinely cares about every client and im extremely grateful for everything they have done for me.

I have been to many recovery based treatment centers, but none have warranted the praise that I have for Liberty Bay! When I first heard about Liberty Bay I was concerned and intimidated, this was just another treatment facility that really didnt care about me they just wanted my money. All I have to say about this place is wow! Miracles happen within the walls of liberty bay. Being here the past 3 months has given me a new attitude and outlook upon life. This is the third rehab I have been to and after completing the program I strongly believe it will be my last one. They have given me a new meaning on the word family and I know I will be very close with all the people I have gone through with for a long time. The staff is amazing and know what they are doing, they put a lot of time and effort into helping each person individually but also in a group setting. Liberty Bay is my saving grace. They taught me how to live right and be honest in all aspects of my life. I have struggled for over a decade with alcohol addiction. Nothing would work for long. Everything I tried before would lead to relapse. From the moment I was put into contact with the owner of Liberty Bay till now I have never felt anything but care and love for me and the sincerest wish for me to succeed at sobriety. Liberty Bay put me into a highly structured inpatient living situation that gave me the ability and opportunity to work on the hard family of origin and relationship issues that was the true cause of my drinking. With a large focus on building a strong support community with my peers and the twelve steps I have come to be living in the most stable and rewarding period of my life. I cant even imagine where I would be without Liberty Bay and all of the people that have come into my life because of it. Thank you for saving my life.

Liberty Bay gave me everything I needed to begin my journey in recovery. At first, 90 days felt like it would be forever. By the end, I didnt want to leave my new family. Detox is not an easy thing to enter into. Usually the circumstances have been tough if that is where you need to head. But, if you need to go through the process, you want to have the best experience during such a tough time in your life. I had no idea what to expect in detox but I found my experience so much more than detoxing my body. I learned so much about my disease and ways you can turn your life around and start living life like it is supposed to be lived. Liberty Bay Medical and Clinical staff were so professional and caring throughout the entire stay. The facility also is super clean and comfortable and the food was great as well. I hope I do not have to come back and I get my life on the right track but if I had to go another time I would choose Liberty Bay again.

I have traveled literally coast to coast going in and out of treatment centers and I have yet to find one with more of an impact than Liberty Bay. Life changing; if you want it to be. Liberty Bay Recovery center has saved my life. The staff works extremely hard with each client to support them on their journey towards recovery. They care individually for clients that are here, both first time clients and people coming in from other treatment facilities. The process to be accepted into the program was quick and professional. I recommend this program to anyone struggling with this disease.

A law suit waiting to happen. This place is the equivalent of a sobriety concentration camp. It is run based on fear and a mob mentality of utter shame and depravity. People pretend to get better for fear of retaliation from the counselors and staff. They have inflated ratings of people who have stayed sober..when the actual count for long term sobriety in 3 years is under 5 people. Game over..lowest score possible. Plus the owner is a scumbag piece of garbage who shoots dollar signs into his carotid artery. He relapsed last year...lied about it and lives a sham of a life. Only go here if you want to hate yourself for all eternity. Ive seen spiritually healthier sweatshops in rural China.

When my life had become unmanageable and I reached my low point, Liberty Bay was there to help me back on the path of life. Starting from the ownership and continuing on, the faculty there all have the same goal for you...recovery. I cant say enough good about everyone there. The clinicians especially have an approach unlike any other, with AMAZING results. Liberty Bay truly helped turn my life around and continues to do so during Re Entry group sessions. Although the staff and food and group sessions were great, I wish I had never had my family spend 6000 to go here. When accepted I went in from leavin Mercy hospital to go to a better facility that had expertise in withdrawl mediation and in therapy, because at Mercy, I went code red and nearly died from being given TOO much sedative medications. So Liberty Bay got paid and sent their car to get me around 8PM or so at night. I went and had a medical review with a new nurse, who misconstrued everything I said. I told her I had experienced a seizure a couple weeks back from withdrawls and improper medications. She asked if I was suicidal, I said no just tired and ready to get healthy after a month of absolute hell, no openings at any detox programs in the state that accept insurance and 14 visits to the ER within the month. I said I was suicidal 15 years ago when my fiancé died tragically, but not now because I have children who need me. I then was shown where I could get something to eat since I hadn’t eaten since early afternoon. I had a bagel with peanut butter and was waiting for my room assignment. Then, MANY police officers and ambulance workers comeWalking out the elevator saying I was unfit to be in detox and needed to go back Mercy because she said I was susicidal and having seizures!!!! I was transported by ambulance BACK to Mercy ER, where I sat and wasn’t helped for over a hour and at that point was shaking badly with no medications for too long. I flipped out and the doctor finally came and gave me valium. Then I contacted my lawyer, who was obviously sleeping at 1130pm. And the head of Liberty Bay called and apologized a million times and begged me to come back. So back I went, even though I was LIVID, I did it for my health and my family. I was medicated and slept through 2 days before going to group. On Sunday, new nurses were there and wouldn’t give me my morning meds, which were already late on and I was shaking a lot, they claimed they needed two people that’s just their policy. When every other day it was ONE PERSON! They immediately contacted Tyler Hanson to come up after finishing med hand outs downstairs. After another half hour and complete shaking near seizure, I went down with a nurse to find him and he was outside laughing and smoking cigarettes. That was it for me. I took my meds through the day. Set up to go to doctors in the morning, and had my husband get me. Now, I’m working with a group of lawyers to get every penny back. And we will go VERY public with this if it doesn’t happen by the time we file our report and paperwork’s with the courts!

Liberty Bay is an excellent program. Ive known the owners for many years and Nate and Jasmine are two of the best people in this field. Their knowledge of addiction, recovery, and healthcare is only outmatched by their passion for helping people and their kind loving hearts. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone needing addiction services.

Liberty Bay Recovery Center has completely changed my life. In the 90 days I spent in the therapeutic community, I was able to look at and get a handle on some of the issues that caused me to use. Now, in the aftercare program (6 months); I am able to continue my work here and begin to bring what I have learned out into the Portland recovery community to help others. Two important things I have learned here are; to be of service to others first and to live by spiritual principals. If you need help with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol... Absolutely amazing! This place helped me get back on my feet and turn my life around ehen i got there January 30th I was broken and lost a shell of a person living day to day trying to get my next fix.. I Had no hope of getting sober nor did I want to. When I got there I was welcomed in to the most loving and caring community and was helped and brought to understand the root of my addiction and my thoughts and with all that my thoughts began to change. By the grave of god on the 28th of this month I will have 10 months sober. My expirience at Liberty Bay was and continues to be nothing but the best. What seperates this program from the rest is the fact that the clinical staff keeps the clients close for an extended period of time, roughly 9 months. I believe this promotes a higher success rate because it holds people accountable and allows them to have a safe trustworthy environment to express their difficulties and successes in early sobiety. From what Ive gathered it is imperitive to establish a firm foundation for recovery, and the loving but firm staff puts every ounce of their being into ensuring every client has a real shot at succeeding.
