Ray is great. The difference is that he cares-and that puts him far ahead of any trainer I have worked with in the past. I have lost 35 pounds since joining Raise in January 2021 and gained new confidence, capability and am much happier to boot. Five stars.

I can’t say enough great things about Ray and the community at Raise fitness. When I first moved back to Pittsburgh I really didn’t know what type of gyms/classes would be available but, I know personally I need individual attention to hold me accountable. What’s fantastic about Ray is that he gives that not only in 1:1 sessions but, also in group classes. Ray makes personal modifications based on where you’re at to ensure you’re working very hard and doing things properly without straining yourself and doing a sloppy, speedy workout. I now look forward to working out which is not something I usually enjoy. Thank you Raise!

Ray takes a very personal approach to fitness. He comes prepared daily with a unique plan to hit my personal goals. Whether it’s strength, endurance or power, Ray has and individualized plan for each client. He is keenly aware of injury prevention and works in mobility and flexibility to round out his training. But that’s just half of it. While you’re not at the gym, Ray will send texts of praise or encouragement or just to check in a nagging ailment. I feel as if he is totally invested in my fitness success.

I came across Raise Fitness while walking my dog in Lawrenceville. I snapped a picture of the front door with the phone number. I thought to myself, if I cant make it the gym at the end of my street then I really need to evaluate my priorities. It was the best decision I have ever made. Rays outlook on training is to change your view of the world. Even when you have your off days, Rays optimistic view and encouraging words help to get you back on track. I am stronger, more dedicated to my health and happier than I have ever been. I can honestly say that he has changed my life in the most positive way.

Raise Fitness is one of the best decisions Ive ever made. His workouts are never boring, rarely similar and dare I say – fun. Also, the advice about keeping your body as healthy as possible, and the ability to recover from any dings you get along the way is priceless. I feel lucky to have found Ray of Raise Fitness and I think of him just as much as a friend as I do my trainer and coach. This is what I want to share about my experience:1. My quick review is I wish I found Raise Fitness sooner because Im almost 52 and Ive never been stronger or felt better!I started at Raise a year ago. I was 51, a little heavier than I wanted to be and I knew I was out of shape. Over the years I tried several gyms and would use exercise videos at home but nothing lasted. I saw Ray on Pittsburgh Today Live and was intrigued by his 80/20 approach that included exercise and nutritional guidance. I wasnt sure what I could commit to but I started going twice a week for 45 minute sessions and Ive loved it! It has become my new normal and Im the strongest Ive ever been. I notice it when I play tennis, kayak or go hiking. He helps you set goals and then gets you there! He designs work outs to work on what you need, checks in on you with a text to see how you are or remind you to work on your goals at home and he gives you workouts to do on your own the rest of the week. Hes fun to be around but he really pushes you to work to your potential. Its been worth the 30-50 minute drive from the south hills! I also take my son with me 1 day a week. Hes 23 and has Down Syndrome. Hes very strong but a little over weight and does not like to work out. He loves Ray and Ray is very good at creating fun ways to keep him working hard. We have found a good fit at Raise and I really recommend it for anyone.

I’ve been going to Raise for about 6 months now after not being very active or healthy. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my body, as well as in my overall lifestyle. My strength and endurance have reached peaks they haven’t been to since being a high school athlete. Additionally, I sleep better, eat cleaner, and have a lot more confidence. Ray’s focus on functional strength training combined with personalized goals helps me to concentrate on little wins, while striving to my ultimate goals. Plus, the group fitness classes are really fun, but still super personalized and hard so you walk out feeling very accomplished. 10/10 would recommend for any and all fitness levels!

I started at Raise Fitness in July 2019 and immediately knew that it was the right fit for me and different than any other gym environment and training that I’ve previously done. In addition to 1:1 training designed to meet your personal goals, the classes are small enough that each work out is fun, fast-paced, and designed for you. At Raise, goals aren’t based on the scale or food restrictions; they’re based on physical fitness and overall health and are realistic and manageable for everyday life and everything that comes with it. I’m much stronger and have more endurance than 6 months ago and can’t wait to see where I am 6 months from now! I’d highly recommend Raise Fitness to anyone who is willing to show up and put in the work.

I’ve been working with Ray for several months and he is far and away the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. Before coming to him I had a recurrent hip flexor injury that I’d gone to PT over and over for. But he has been not only able to work around it, but to help me strengthen so it doesn’t recur. Workouts are always different and the right level of challenging- I feel like I get pushed to go harder but I never feel like I burn out. I’m really amazed by how much stronger and fitter I am and feel like I’m making sustainable changes to my life. Ray is a creative, knowledgeable, and compassionate trainer and I would highly recommend him to anyone at any stage of their fitness journey.

Ray and his approach to training is the full package: tailored limit pushing workouts; proper form and technique, how to fuel your body and mental focus. He is a true expert in the science of fitness and nutrition. This is not a diet and exercise program, it is a lifestyle.I have been a lifelong athlete competing at the collegiate level and now as a 38 year old mother of 6 and 2 year old girls, I am the strongest I have ever been and in the best shape of my life. Ray is the best trainer I ever had. He is there to support you and challenge you when you need him. He is always available and approachable to answer your questions by text, email or phone even when you are not at the gym with him.I have been working out with him for a long time now and he helped me hit my fitness goals and even go beyond them.I tried other gyms and trainers before but non of them really worked for me as much as Ray does. I’ve been training with Raise Fitness for just over two years now, and to say the experience has been life-changing is a vast understatement. Before I started with Ray, I had a unorganized, sporadic gym routine paired with a hectic work/life balanced. I started training with Ray in January 2019. He is an amazing Personal Trainer. Hes highly motivating, very knowledgeable, is fully focused on you throughout the entire session, and the workouts are designed to push you mentally and physically.I started with 2 training sessions per week and gradually increased to 3 PT sessions plus 2 group classes. Being able to do 5 workouts a week took some time but I am so happy I committed to working out with Ray in 2019; I feel so much stronger, healthier, and am much more in tune with my body. Im looking forward to continuing in 2020!I cant say enough good things about Ray and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Ray is the best trainer I have ever worked with to meet my fitness goals. I moved to Pittsburgh and had spent a year without any clear targets or goals for my fitness. I spent many months just working out to the point of exhaustion. With Ray, I have found an excellent mentor on my fitness journey. Under his tutelage, I have improved my strength and technique resulting in a gain of over 5 pounds of lean mass as well as hitting targets I previously thought would be impossible for me, like a handstand pushup. He knows how to push you and is excellent at gauging your abilities. On multiple occasions, he challenged me with something new that I had doubts about, and to my surprise was able to perform effectively. He is a great listener and works with you to define realistic goals and keep you on track with your fitness journey. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

In Pittsburgh for business and needed a step up from the gym that my Marriot Hotel provided. Found that at Raise Fitness and what a step up it was! A personalized gym with a knowledgeable staff and very professional trainers.I cant say enough great things about this facility. All my needs were met and then exceeded. The facility is VERY clean- which I really appreciated. Suffice to say I am a huge fan and glad I came across it. Truly, a very special place. I will be back next month when I am in town. Raymond is unlike any trainer I have ever been around. Ive worked with people that jump from fad to fad and others still using the same workouts from the 80s but neither hold true with Raymond.Every session his primary focus is to fix a problem (injury, imbalance, weight loss, gain strength etc.) and he takes a very tailored approach to each workout. Working out isnt the goal, the goal is become healthier and improve quality of life and Raymond exemplifies that.

There are pivotal moments in life—marriage, children, dream jobs, etc.—and I’d put “training with Ray” up near the top. I feel beyond lucky to have found him. His focus is squarely on his clients and their overall wellbeing—not just their fitness goals, but how those goals fit into their life. He always, always checks in and is there to support, motivate and challenge (and he knows exactly when to do each). He is a teacher in every sense of the word.I’d been working out for years in a rut, dragging myself to the gym only for some vague end result. Working with Ray has been life changing.I’ve never been a natural athlete and when I first met Ray my goals were literally to do 1 push up and run a mile. I can’t tell you how many diets and exercise regimes I’d signed up for in the past, all of which were short lived and ultimately failed.The reason Ray’s method works is because it’s so much more than a 50 min workout twice a week. Even before we met in person he spent time to analyze what my days looked like, what I ate and drank, how I felt when I did certain activities and how I spent my ‘free’ time. I thought he was just testing me to see if I would be a good student, but he was actually creating a bespoke program to make sure I would reach my goals. By getting to know me, he could tell where my weak spots would be and what habits he needed to help me start or change.Our first sessions working out together followed a similar pattern. He really got to know what I was capable of doing and created tailored workouts, guiding me and safely encouraging me to do things I never thought possible.But the biggest difference he has over other trainers or training programs is how he motivates me when I’m not with him. He develops workouts that I can do with the equipment I have at home, while I’m traveling or when I can’t get to a gym - and he checks in almost daily to make sure I keep on track. Because of his constant motivation, I’ve learnt to truly integrate fitness into my life without it ever feeling it’s unachievable or that I had to be obsessive.Don’t get me wrong, you DO have to work for it - and it’s especially hard when you’re starting out and you’ve had a big night out or just came off a grueling 14 hour work day. I would text him from work trips complaining about how tired I was and how I didnt think I could work out. But Ray would be right there, giving me practical advice so that I didnt hurt myself while tired and giving me that extra push when I needed it. In the beginning I was honestly doing the workouts just so I didnt feel like I was letting him down. I guess he knew thats what it would take!So here we are, 5 months later. I’ve never felt fitter, had more energy or been more confident working out. I dropped 2 dress sizes inside 12 weeks and ran my first 5k this fall. Push-ups? Bring them on! Believe me, if youre thinking about doing this - do it. RAISE will be the best investment youll ever make.

Where to start! I’ve learned so much from Ray. Yes, I’m in the best shape of my life after having four kids and being over 35, I’m proud to say that. That’s ALL thanks to Raise Fitness and the workouts he provides. However, the most important lesson I’ve learned from him is, “emulate who you are in the gym, in real life.” The patience, the focus, the drive, everything that makes my workouts great apply to real life. I think of that when I’m dealing with four kids under six years of age and running a house. Ray has not only taught me how to workout, how to eat, but he’s also taught me lifestyle change and how to be an overall better human. I say this as I’m sleep training my four month old! Was in town for the Steelers playoff game but realized last minute that they didnt even make it. Angered and frustrated i looked up gyms in the area where i can get my anger out and sure enough I found Raise Fitness. Great experience and atmosphere. Ray is super knowledgable about fitness and nutrition based on what you are trying to achieve and will be committed to helping you reach your goals. He is also a very personable person that you will enjoy talking to while you learn and lift. Clean and spacious gym with a one of kind trainer in Ray that will have you hooked to this gym if you live in the area or even if you are just visiting. Check it out!!
