I wanted to warn brides/grooms about Direct Entertainment. We canceled them today, 11 days before my wedding due to lack of communication. I booked them back in 2020 for my 2021 wedding. Two months (April 28, 2021) before my June 26, 2021 wedding I contacted Jim to see who my DJ was. I was told that I didnt submit the forms that I had already submitted. I resubmitted them and still didnt hear back. On May 4, 2021 I messaged him again to make sure that everything had gone through and to ask questions about the photo booth we had booked as well. Still no response. On Thursday June 10, 2021 I texted Jim because I still had not heard from him or from the DJ assigned to us but he did not respond. I called and left a message. On Monday June 14, 2021 Jim returned my call and stated that he still didnt get my forms. When I said I submitted them twice he told me that he found it from April 28. I asked for the DJs contact and he said he couldnt give it to me but he would have him call me. After hanging up I decided I wanted the DJs contact because we were so close and I had no idea who this person was. I called back and Jim reluctantly gave him his contact. When I contacted the DJ he was rude and said he would call me next week. I would not have had a problem with that had the DJ simply told me he could not talk at the moment but would set up a time that worked best for us. Instead he was standoff-ish. He was clearly aware that he was this way because he texted me the next morning to apologize. I called Jim on June 15, 2021 to let him know that we were canceling our services. He asked why then proceeded to get irritated and defend himself saying I didnt submit the forms and only saved them. He kept arguing with me that I did not reach out to him two months ago about the forms because that was April 28 (my wedding is June 26 - thats two months). Honestly, just a horrible experience and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I have screenshots of the conversations/times that I contacted them without response. I also have screenshots from another bride that went through the exact same thing with them. This isnt a one time occurrence.

Working with Direct Entertainment was fairly easy. Obviously you are paired with different people and you are not connected until about a month before, which was okay with us. It really depends on how much that means to you on your day. Our DJ was so nice, butchered most of the names (even after going through them on 2-3 different occasions), but created an amazing party atmosphere for our reception. Our videographer was really great as well. No vender in my experience is perfect, but if they’re willing to work with your needs direct entertainment is a great option.

The company and other DJs could be fine. This review is about the DJ we were paired with Johnny.Johnny, in my opinion, ruined our wedding. I dont even know where to start quite frankly. Our initial meeting was at the hotel the Monday before the wedding. He tried to cancel on me because he forgot he scheduled something else. Then assured me he could make it to the hotel on time. We sat and waited for him for 30 mins before he finally showed. Then came the wedding. The ceremony was terrible. The microphone he set up didnt work so no one could hear a word we were saying. The guests told me he would play jazz music for when someone walked out but would stop it until the next person walked out instead of just playing some quite jazz music until it was my time to walk. The reception, was the worst of all though. Johnny didnt have the names of the people to introduce so our wedding planner had to tell him every time. When it came time for our first dance we stood awkwardly on the dance floor for a couple minutes while he fumbled to find the song to play. He finally found our song and it was like someone had recorded it with a cell phone and then played it back.During dinner he played songs that kept skipping and he would realize at first so they would skip for a long time before choosing a different song. Then during dessert a CHEESEITS COMMERCIAL played. He had to ask me what my father daughter dance was while I was eating. No one was dancing and when people tried to request songs he wouldnt play them. When I tried to request songs he told me he was just trying to play what was on my playlist. Which he had already played on repeat more than once because it was suppose to be a guide not the entire wedding. That is when I realized he was just using YouTube to play songs. There would be long pauses in between songs. We even had someone boo him he was so bad. The only reason we tipped him was we felt bad that someone booed.I realize we paid a discounted rate but this was completely unacceptable and quite frankly ruined the wedding I worked so hard to plan. I am incredibly upset. It is all my friends and family are talking about and our wedding planner stated it was the worst DJ she has ever worked with.
