Ive been under Dr. Pecks care for almost 2 years now. Of the many mental health practitioners Ive had for my whole life there have been a total of 2 that have really helped me. She is one of them.Brilliant and astute, not willing to put up with any of my BS. Im in a better state mentally than Ive ever been before, in part because of her counseling.Your relationship with your therapist is a very personal thing, and you should find one that works for you. Dr. Peck works very well for me.

Dr. Pecks therapy was retraumatizing for me. She was unprofessional, not open to feedback about things she was doing that made me feel as if my time was unimportant to her, and she consistently misgendered me, defending herself when I brought it up. I felt I needed to walk out of a session because I was triggered and because she made it out like it was my fault there were problems with the therapeutic relationship, and told me I was victimizing myself after I tried to be honest with her about what I was going through/tried to advocate for myself by offering feedback about her care. She never followed up with me and made no attempt to refer me to another professional. Since leaving her care and doing more research about my experience I know the way she treated me wasnt my fault and wasnt okay. In hindsight she seemed unprepared to help someone whos previously been traumatized by therapists and unwilling to adjust her approach to me or meet me where I was at. Its been difficult for me to speak up about this and has made it harder for me to get the help I need.

Dr Peck was amazing! She went out of her way to talk to me on the phone when I needed a surgery clearance letter and I’d had a terrible experience with a first gender therapist I saw. She was incredibly sympathetic and human about it, and explained to me how she evaluates patients and reassured me about the process. She fit me in on short notice, and her method of letting me decide the best way to discuss my history with gender dysphoria (I chose showing photos and describing those situations) worked for me because before I had frozen up when another therapist mis-labeled me and put words in my mouth. I was really impressed with how thoughtful she was, and she made me realize things about myself I wasn’t aware of. I got my surgery a few months ago, and I feel very happy about the process because of Dr Peck’s care, when my initial experience with gender therapy in the beginning had been very negative and demeaning.
