Amazing help! I feel so much better now that Ken has helped me. As an attorney, I can say that he is SHARP and I trust his advice-- please note it was not legal advice he gave me!!! He was really clear and eloquent on which statutes to read to do my own research. You can tell he has years of experience in this field. I feel blessed to have called in and spoken to him. This service is amazing! More than worth the cost. They do exactly what they say theyll do. Always keep you in the loop their follow up is great. Clair in the office is absolutely the best! Shes a straight shooter, knowledgeable and great at her job. Ken is great as well. Even if he does vote on the wrong side of the ticket...There is no question that he is experienced and knows what hes doing. Once youve signed up be ready, because they move fast and before you know it youll be moving! They are incredible.

I definitely recommend getting the membership and bring all your questions to him and at the very least you will know more about your issue and how to approach it sensibly.

Ken and Clare were incredibly professional and thorough in their work. I was a little skeptical at first, but my worries were quickly assuaged after my first meeting. They helped me save on BS fees my landlord would have probably charged me, and scared them into repairing several safety issues around the building (i.e. all the expired fire extinguishers were magically updated and inspected days after getting the violation list). I paid much less than Id likely end up paying trying to get out of my lease on my own.The several 1 star reviews from landlords should be testament to that. I love how much they hate them. Additionally, after reading more reviews, I have to tell everyone reading that its paramount that you follow their directions to the letter and avoid self-sabotage. I am not sure why these reviews arent anything short of amazing! When you do things legally nothing is just cookie cutter straight. However, ATA has been more than willing to work with me every step of the way. I was able to get out of my lease quickly and pain free. As long as you follow their direction, EXACTLY THE WAY THEY TELL YOU TO DO THINGS, youll be fine. Not only did they provide the services I needed but they were very nice and personable along the way. Not only to me, but they always were welcoming to my husband and our 5 kids as well. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to get out of their lease. Claire and Ken ( who I dealt with personally) have a true passion for sticking it to these complexes who take you for all your money, yet have you residing in inappropriate, less than satisfactory, and inhumane conditions.

The Arizona Tenants Advocates are an absolute godsend! Earlier this year, I went through a nightmarish experience with my previous leasing agency. When the dust settled, I was deemed responsible for shouldering the entire cost of rent. At wits end, I scoured the internet for a solution to my problem and met with a bevy of thoroughly unhelpful, misleading and downright dismissive attorneys. Thankfully, with persistence and the magic of Google, I discovered the Arizona Tenants Advocates.From the moment I sat down in Ken’s unbelievably strange living room and consulted with him and Claire, I felt an immense sense of relief and an assurance that the arduous dilemma I was experiencing would be resolved. They outlined the lease breaking process in a simple fashion and gave me various resources to educate me on my rights as a tenant in Arizona. Not only were their services affordable, but the entire affair took a mere 20 days. I am incredibly grateful for their help, patience and expertise. DO NOT WAISTE YOUR TIME! we have been dealing with ATA and breaking our lease for over 2 years now. The process has taken longer than expected or told and now we have had our credit affected. We waisted our time and money when we had a better and faster outcome finding a lawyer on our end. All they want is your money, we gave a deposit of over $1200 so at the end of the day we can break the lease on our own. I hate that we have scheduled meetings with Ken and every time it is easily about an hour wait and not to mention how unprofessional the work environment is. What ever you do, do not sign up for Identity Q, they will try to convince you its what best for your credit, I paid that for over 2 years and still got my credit affected pretty bad, and also a waist of money. please do your research on AZ laws as to whats considered a lawful break of lease, they make it sound so sweet and easy at first, but its down hill after that. Its been such a headache going back and forth with this. I know of at least 3 attorneys who do NOT want to work with ATA because of how unprofessional they can be so please do your research and get well informed being committing to them.

I just got off the phone with the rudest, most condescending, insensitive woman. She repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me. She didn’t allow me to elaborate or explain. Literally within the first 10 seconds of the call she was cutting me off and was disinterested in listening any further to a word I had to say. My attempts to finish my original thought and make my point were quickly cut short and dismissed. She was more than unpleasant and shockingly enough....she even laughed AT me. I didn’t do or say anything to deserve such disrespect.It’s appalling that they call themselves an advocacy group and even have the nerve to ask for donations. Don’t give them a dime. I hope calls are recorded.

This review is over three years in the making. We paid to have Ken, and his staff, help us get out of a bad living situation - three years later, we’re out over $1,000.00 and the broken lease is still on our credit report (approximately $3,000.00).We paid for the additional “credit protection” which did absolutely nothing, apart from charge $20.00, per month, for over two years. Why? Because that “credit protection” company requires you to sign up for a credit monitoring service and $20.00 per month is what it costs. Ken made it sound like if the worst case scenario happened (it being reported to the credit bureaus) this credit protection would fix it - WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!We’ve asked for a refund, but of course that was disregarded. Ken then said he would get with his attorney to see how we could further be helped - that was about two months ago and we’ve not heard anything since.You’d be better off just buying out your lease, or staying until it’s done. We handed him almost a thousand dollars for a few hours of work that did absolutely NOTHING. He said that being reported to the credit bureaus was a very rare occurrence - I now believe that is false, and would ask him to prove that, because within a few months of us moving out it was on our credit report.Keep your money, or expect to hand it over and get fu**ed over in return.

Nice people but like a few others reviews stated. That doesnt help for fact of services rendered are not worth the price paid. Not taking responsibility for the bad reviews with even a simple apology makes it seem even more like its a scam rather then legit. I feel our money was taken and your company gave us no service, we get a few email replies the first couple weeks then we try asking for some help or real work other then a letter that made the situation worse for us. After stating this your company has quit replying to our emails and we paid for 1year of service. Lesson learned though, this was a waste of time and money in the end.

You into the Arizona tenants advocate because I have been evicted this was my house I got behind on it and had to sell it before you know things got worse I sold the house I broke my leg in three places I got robbed and I stole my truck also and he gives me an eviction notice because of debris and my backyard and I couldnt clean it up right away as quick as he wanted it done Ive had the worst year of my life and this just made it worse and I am looking for a house to buy or rent to buy owner whatever anyone out there hears they could certainly use it just like I said its been the worst year Ive ever had in my whole life thanks everybody for listening from my family to yours have a great holiday

Thank you Ken for the $20 reimbursement for if I give a review. I must be honest though in my review regardless of the $20.You work hard, but your services are not worth what people pay. This is because there is no legal authority in your letters. They don’t work because so. As well, I know working out of your home saves money, but it’s filthy. Not only that it’s extremely cluttered and has dog hair everywhere.You’re a nice guy! But there are things you must improve in your business.

When I found myself in a bad situation with my apartment, a quick Google search led me to AZ Tenant Advocates. Ken and Claire were very helpful and highly informed. They quickly put me at ease to legally get out of my lease. I became a member and theyve help me with all the written correspondence back and forth. The membership fee is reasonable and well worth it to have the peace of mind knowing that everything is being handled properly. I highly recommend Ken and his team. WORST customer service EVER, I called to ask about a situation I am having with my landlord. I called for advice and the guy that answered was EXTREMELY rude, cut me off 5 seconds after I started explaining to him my situation and told me to cut it short and get to the point, I said that is the point I have service animals and my landlord is evicting us for that he said there isn’t much he can do just to go to their website and find whatever document I needed for my problem. I wouldn’t spend my money at this place if that’s how they treat their clients.

My name is Vi, Ken told me I could get out of my lease and get my security deposit back. When he told me to come I expect it to be a office but it was in a house. Not only would he write up letters he would make us pay to get it delivered at a specific location. He got me out of my lease, but my credit was ruined cause of it. Also I never got my security deposit back and when I call Ken he told me I need to get a lawyer to fight it. When he himself(Ken) claim I will for sure 100 percent get my security deposit without any problem and never mentions a lawyer or anything else

Great service. A new management company took over my apartment complex and the quality of tenancy drastically declined. Maintenance workers claiming they had fixed things that had never been looked at, sneaky utility billing procedures, rude office staff, and just a really horrible takeover. Luckily, Ken was able to work with me to get my lease terminated, and I only had to pay a partial months rent for his service. Will update after the entire process is over, but definitely looking good so far.

Many months ago I found myself in a horrible situation with my upscale apartment complex. I had no idea what to do, nor what my options were. I did a google search and read the reviews regarding Arizona Tenants Advocates.I made an appointment and met with both Ken and Claire. They are both very friendly, no-nonsense, and experts in their field. They made a very difficult situation a little less so by providing the guidance, education, and communication I needed to understand the process. On top of that they stay on top of all the administrative documentation necessary to defend myself against a very unethical industry.Just recently, I received two collection notices from a creditor on behalf of Elevation on Central. After not hearing from the complex, nor, their employees since I lived at the complex, they apparently decided to send me to collections. I have contacted Ken and Claire about this notice and they are in the process of helping me once again.They are both here to help and guide all of us renters who find ourselves living and dealing with dishonest, unsafe, unscrupulous, and unethical apartment complexes and management companies.

I found myself in an apartment situation that was getting worse every day. I was really unhappy and everyone who knew about this was giving me advice that I just did not feel comfortable with. After a quick search online I found Ken and knew that this was the right choice for me. I know its located in a house and its crazy busy, but I enjoyed our meetings, I always felt comfortable being there, and then theres the huskies who are so sweet and comforting. Id much rather work with people who are casual and know their business than someone with a fancy office and sterile environment, oh, and high hourly rates. Im very happy that I found these guys and if you find yourself in a similar situation you should call them. Ken and his staff have offered us invaluable guidance on handling an extremely bad living situation. They respond in a timely manner not only to us, but also the prior landlord and their attorney. We have always been homeowners and our first experience renting was a nightmare. I highly recommend following the instructions you are given to the letter. For example, having the carpets professionally cleaned, photographing every inch of the apartment, and saving the receipt for the cleaning saved us several thousand dollars. I also recommend purchasing the credit protection. It will save you a lot of headache and you wont have any complaints later.

I have been using Arizona Tenants Advocates for about two months, as of this review, and have found them to be extremely informative and helpful. They are straight forward, honest and upfront.You can call or set up an appointment online to get a brief assessment of whether or not their service is for you. They will tell you what the laws are and how your situation fits within those laws.For their break lease service, they charge on a sliding scale based on a percentage of your current, base rent. This may seem like a lot upfront, but this is a lot less then breaking the lease through the landlord. This is also a one time payment for a year contract. I have already met with Ken about five times in just two months. They walk your through each step of their process and each follow up, response letter so that you know whats going on.In response to some of the negative comments I can confirm that his office is in his house and it is a bit cluttered. But it is not filthy or disgusting. I can also confirm that he is a little eccentric (which his employees would probably confirm) but in a good way. He is always direct and professional.They have a specific process that they use and they do use templates for their letters, but they tailor each letter for your specific situation. Violation of laws by landlords seem to be pretty common and similar, which makes the use of templates justified.If you any questions give them a call and give them a brief run down of your issue and they will give you an honest assessment.

I recently was given help with breaking my lease through Arizona Tenants Advocates and I was satisfied with the the information provided and the letters written for me on my behalf. Despite the set up in the house Ken and his staff know their stuff. They took time to explain everything, helped me feel at ease, and walked me through everything. It may seem steep to pay for this service but you dont have to wait months going through a free service and you get for what you pay for. Overall Id go back to them again for any leasing issues I have in the future.

Initially we thought our landlord would take care of it but after weeks of having major repairs incomplete we contacted ATA for help. EVERY GOOD REPORT JUST STARTED TO DEAL WITH THEM!!!! IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS FOR ME. IT IS FAR CHEAPER TO BREAK THE LEASE YOUR SELF SO IT DOESNTT GO ON YOUR CREDIT AND YOU DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE APARTMENTS CORPORATE LAWYERS. IT IS ON MY CREDIT HISTORY AND RENTERS HISTORY STILL. YOU WILL SAVE YOUR SELF 2 YEARS OF TRAVELING TO TEMPE EVERY MONTH. He is a slippery manipulator who will tell you what you what to hear!!! Then deny it!!!! Still on my credit cant rent new place!!!!Every bad post about this place is correct1) My credit is ruined so he can make money!!!2) I used them to break my lease in December 20163) I am still trying to remove this fro my credit as of April 20184) I was charged $50.00 FOR CREDIT PROTECION!!!!5) It turns out they make money off of selling this protection which has cost me $20.00 per month for 14 months!!!! $ 280.00!!!!6) Breaking MY LEASE COST $650.00. They have cost me well over $1200.00.7) Look at their place and run !!!!DO NOT USE!!! Worst mistake ever! MUCH CHEAPER TO BREAK LEASE BY YOUR SELF! You will be told it is quick and a one time payment of a percent of your rent along with an option to purchase credit protection for $50 ( and I did need it cause this is currently on my credit 15 months after beginning their process and may affect my ability to rent!) Heres what Ive done. LOST MY DEPOSIT, HAD HOME INSPECTIONS BY INVESTIGATORS AND MANAGEMENT ADMINISTRATION, LETTERS FROM CORPORATE LAWYERS ( Each time I received a letter I would have to drive($gas) to Tempe, wait 3 hours for a response letter to be typed then send it certified mail at the post office ($13)... THIS HAPPENED OVER 9 TIMES!!!! THIS WAS A WASTE OF MANY DAYS!When you start receiving the collection letters you will be directed to the other service you hopefully bought for credit protection and HAVE TO PAY$20 A MONTH FOR AT LEAST 10 MONTHS TO HAVE THE CLAIM REMOVED FROM YOUR REPORT. THAT IS $200!!!!I was told it would be quick. It took about a year of driving to Tempe for a 3 hour meetings each month and subscribing to identity protection to reverse the charge on my credit which can still be seen. It cost $650 to break the lease myself!!!. I cost me about $1200 and 40 hours of waiting to go through them.

I ended up in a situation that I did not think I’d ever get out of , at least not wholly.I was keeping an elderly woman, who is a very dear friend of mine, company when she was alone and her son was out of town 2 to 3 nights a week. They had to move to a new place and the landlord there stated that I needed to be on the lease which would give me the right to be on the property for that many days. It was understood then there was no financial obligation on my part as I did not have an income.Well, since then my elderly friend passed away and her son disappeared that same day. Leaving me with the full responsibility for the rent and utilities.. Oh yes, they stuck it to me and were going to hold me financially liable because my name is on the lease. At this time, I’m also now receiving income from Disability (only 2 months now). Though it’s definitely not enough to pay the rent and utilities and keep myself fed.After many pleas and one official complaint, I was told I could submit a Notice to Vacate without Penalty but I would have to get out ASAP. But I needed documentation from them to prove this was their agreement to any prospective landlord plus I needed to know what ASAP meant...how many days? So I could find the right place with the right move-in date. I wasn’t getting a response. I missed out on what I felt was the perfect place.So I got on the internet. I found ATA by the grace of God. I don’t know what I typed in “search” but there it was...”Break Your Lease Legally”. After 2 back-to-back phone calls I had an appointment within days. During that appointment there was a strategy planned within the first hour. Letters were drawn up the following week and delivered to the landlord by process server that same day. I followed the instructions I was given and 20 days later I was out of my horrific ordeal and in my new affordable place. It wasn’t easy (far from it), but it was accomplished.There are no judgements against me, no further financial responsibility, and my credit is intact. This is exactly what I wanted.And to our great surprise (because we didn’t think we’d get it), and I called Ken immediately when I received it...yes, I received the full refund for the security deposit!Thank you Ken and Clair for all you did. This would not be possible if not for your knowledge, your time and especially your caring for people. I came to AZ Tenant Advocates on Saturday to talk about a pest issue I was having with my apartment. Not only did they find this but other legal avenues for which it was not a good idea to be staying in my apartment. By Monday we had submitted the necessary paperwork to legally break my lease, it was submitted just in time. Any questions or concerns I had during this process were thoughtfully answered and I was allowed to call with as many questions that came to mind. These people have two huskies that they keep outside all the time in the hot sun. They left one of their dogs outside during a huge monsoon and when it came to the door, he yelled at the dog to go away. the dog was walking around the street unleashed, drinking water from the gutter, and ultimately laid outside the door. Despite what Christopher May earlier wrote, I would like to thank Arizona Tenant Advocates for helping me vacate the guest house I rented from Mr. May. To begin with Mr. May never had the property registered as a rental property with the state of Arizona. Then after a few months of living on the property he decided to micromanage everything I would do making me feel uncomfortable to even be in my own home. I dreaded going home. Thank you to Ken Volk and his staff I was able to understand my rights as a tenant more clearly and was able to move out and move on without hesitation. Even though this has been a tough situation for me, Ken Volk and his staff have worked hard and in a timely manner to make this whole situation be less stressful for me. Broke a lease here in 2014 because we were living in a roach infested apartment. If you just do what he tells you to do and some of the work falls on you as the tenant who wants to leave, you will succeed.Over a year later and nobody has ever tried to mark up my credit.I still recommend buying the credit protection pack he offers of the landlord tries to be sneaky and put something on your credit without going through proper channels as an insurance against that.Its really simple, just do what he suggests and you cant go wrong.

Arizona Tenants Advocates is a great place to go when you are in need of help, especially when you feel like there is no hope! Recently I got myself into a horrible tenant situation where I rented an apartment that was infested with roaches! It was disgusting and could not stand to live there, therefore I wanted to terminate my lease but was afraid to do so because I didnt want to ruin my credit. However, I ran into Arizona Tenants Advocates website and quickly filled out a form and now I am thankful I did before proceeding with anything else. Ken Volk is very straight forward man and tells you exactly what you need to know to keep yourself out of any legal trouble when breaking a lease. He also hands you a complete packet with very detailed instructions on exactly what you need to document and keep for future reference in case of a lawsuit. He basically hands you your guide to a successful termination that you get to keep with you forever. Do not expect him to do all the work for you because thats not how it works, it is a very self-motivated process that takes time and patience but Ken will guide you through every step and will answer any of your questions along the way. He will, however, complete all the legal letters needed to prove you are breaking a lease legally and will give you a copy of all of them. He also offers credit protection and many other things. Overall, I would recommend him to anyone who is unhappy and willing to take the time to fix the situation they are in.

I spoke with Ken today and because of this occurrence ( careful not to say advice or the like ) I have taken a correction with my intentions and placed them is a peaceful place by not furthering my efforts for a principled argument worth 122 dollars in small claims court if I won . If I would not have found Ken and his staff, Im not sure where I would be. Having just moved to Arizona, I signed into a lease not knowing how awful Arizona landlords and apartment complexes are.Ken and his team saved me from living in an apartment where my livelihood was in jeopardy because of all of the crime, and the roaches and vermin in my apartment that my landlord REFUSED to address.The process of breaking my lease through Arizona Tenants Advocates was well worth the cost and time. I actually saved a months rent by going though their company. The process was pretty quick, and I feel that ATA really covered my @$$, protecting me from any retaliations my landlord tried to pull.If I ever have any more problems with my landlord, I am definitely calling Kens office without hesitation.

Moved to Arizona site unseen. Big mistake but found an apartment online. Of course photos looked great the whole deal. Well needless to say the apartment once moved in left a lot to be desired. Ken, Claire and the rest of the team at Arizona Tenants Advocates were extremely helpful in our break lease assignments. Being new to Arizona at the time, they were an extremely helpful resource in breaking the lease with our horrible rental complex that will not be named. As the previous apartment complex was very stringent even when they were in the wrong, the process did take a few meetings to finish up and finalize. It was well worth the consultation fee to save over $4,000 form the lease break. They know the contracts very well and know exactly what to do assist tenant in a variety of situations and are always available for advice. Our previous apartment company even went so far as to put the charge on our credit which as of this month has been resolved, so be patient as this process is not finished in on day. It has always been a pleasure working with them and I would do so again if we were in a similar situation. Thanks!10/5 stars.

Like many others I had a terrible experience with a previous landlord, I felt unsafe and trapped in my situation. A good friend recommend AZ tenants advocate as a resource to look into. Let’s just say it was a GREAT recomedation for me and my situation. My first interaction was with Clair she was kind, very knowlagable, and eager to help. There was no pressure ever and I actually left after my first appointment without signing up to take the night and think through my options (which were limited to begin with). Ken was able to formulate a game plan from start to finish and it has been exactly what I needed. The office is a little unconventional, but so are they, so it works well! They are more than a team they are a family and they make you feel as though you are apart of that. I would recommend Arizona Tenants Association to anyone with lease problems, their knowledge on tenants rights are second to none.

ATA helped me out of my lease. ATA knows the laws that are made by landlords and confusing for tenants. The time and effort it would have taken me to underatand and apply AZ tenant laws on my own would not have been worth it. I am very glad I worked with ATA to break my lease. So far, so good! After calling numerous agency’s and law firms.. Receiving automotive recordings and rude receptionists... I finally called ATA and was met on the other line by Clair. She was nice, curtious, talked with compassion AND she was very informative, for the short time I had her on the phone. I admittley fired more questions at her than I probably should have BUT she answered every question she could and I could hear the care in her voice. She has made my day better and a little less anxiety ridden. Thank you, Clair. I hope to talk with you and Ken soon.

We thought ATA was a God send! They were all so helpful, caring, and knowledgeable. Super long story short. I paid $900 (to ATA) to get out of my lease for our horrible horrible living situation at a horrible horrrible apartment complex. Each one of the workers for ATA were helpful, and saw us through everything,,,,,until the letters and demands and threats started coming in from the apartment complex’s lawyers...which in the beginning is promised by ATA that they will get you through it all until it is nonexistent. I’ve received a few letters from these lawyers and forwarded copies to ken (the owner), I haven’t heard back since. Nothing. At. All. I have left (I think) about 7 voicemails, and 4 emails to them. They do not take my calls or respond to my emails anymore. It is now on my credit. I asked (while they were still communicating with me) to do the credit protection, which is when they stopped responding to me. I am utterly disappointed in them. I put so much trust into them. I am giving 2 stars ONLY because we no longer live at the horrible apartment complex. But, we probably could have just moved out and not paid ATA to receive the same results.The day I turned in my keys for Ken to send back to the complex, he practically begged me and even offered his computer to write a review at that moment. Of course we were extremely happy at the time, but I still needed to see it through to make sure he helped out all the way, he even offered me $25 (or $20) to write a good review. I am glad o did not do it at that time. I am writing this review now, because they have severely let us down.I feel that his/their intentions are good, but maybe he/they just get so busy or something. I don’t know. But I know I spent hours upon hours at his house waiting for letters to be written,,,something that could take 45 min max. I have taken 2 2 hour naps on his couch waiting for him to do what is promised and what we paid for. I’m just disappointed. I wish he/they would take care of what’s happening to us now like it was promised from the beginning.

AZ Tenants Advocates is dispensing false, misleading legal advice without being attorneys. I have been on the receiving end of an individual who was clearly either using false claims to break a lease. After using ATA forms, I reviewed them with several attorneys and the AZ Landlord Tenants act. All of the statements being made were erroneous, misstatements of AZ Law, only intended to appear valid. The advice provided to the opposing party is/was is not legally valid under AZ State Law. Bottom line is, giving unaware people false hope to cause damage to other parties is not a way to resolve a concern. All documents used were not legally supported in a court where a state appointed third party hearing officer or judge would rule in favor a tenant. Beware of misguided advice from ATA.

They referred me to a shady, unethical, unprofessional mold inspection company (SavOn) that took my $ while providing an unusable mold testing with insufficient testing (not meeting industry standards and unusable in court) and final report. Keep in mind, if you dont do exactly what the say to do precisely (hire SavOn home improvements), they have the right to discontinue their services per their contract. SavOn (AZ tenant advocates recommended company!) further shared the results of that report without my permission or consent to my landlord. Ken with Arizona Tenant Advocates proceeded to forbid me from using a 2nd mold inspection company threatening me that if I did so, he would not help me any further or provide a refund for his services. Well, I hired the 2nd mold inspector for the health/safety of my family and they found TONS of DEADLY toxic mold on surface areas neglected by the first company HIS company recommended (SavOn home improvement). After this mistake and these findings, Ken has still refused to help me or provide a refund!In addition, he knew I had hired an attorney and AFTER taking my money for his services, advised me to go against my attorneys advice to use a 2nd mold inspector.Please see Kens comments below. He is apparently a pathological liar as he completely made up all his lies about me bragging to my landlord about the inspection and offering him a cup of tea (how absolutely absurd and ridiculous!) And now I see that he has changed his review to place all the blame on the SavOn inspector (the one he referred me to and wont take responsibility for or provide a refund for his misguidance) for the lies he made up about me offering the landlord tea, etc., etc. Steer clear of this man and his organization! THEY are the ones (Claire, his assistant) that told me to allow the landlord to come to the inspection when he asked what time they were coming and if he could be there. Ken then tried to flip the whole story around and blame me. He is unfortunately very manipulative! BEWARE!#Ken keeps reediting his review to try to disregard mine. Unless you have an untouched apartment and plan to make repairs and proffessional carpet cleaned on top of paying the tenants association a 1 time non refundable fee of more than 200$ depending on your lease.... I wouldnt waste money going through this association . Things happen, unexpectedly and you have to sign a contract saying basically nothing will change by the time you plan to break the lease. Also the contract is binding you to agree with paying them alot of money to really not do much but print out paperwork and email you on updates. Why pay lots pf money when there is no guarantee? Please be sure about tour situation before using them. Well letting them use you (for money) even if they sayvyou have a good legal case things change and it might not stay that way.....This is good for people who live alone and havent lived in their apartment long. So many fees just to go through this association its not worth it because its 50 /50. And the appointments are 2 hours or longer. I did it and It wasnt worth it. Based on the fact that you have to pay them first and they dont really do anything but type up paperwork and give it to you to mail to your apartments ... they give you tips but its stuff you already know. It isnt worth the money. No worries! I just know I wont be using their service again and it didnt help the first time so it isnt worth wasting money. If you get evicted it will eventually go away and there is a possibility you will still get an eviction even after paying the tenants association to make sure it doesnt happen. Not alot of people just have 400$ or more to throw in the air and see what happens. Either way if your situation isnt solid you might find yourself in court either way it goes in order to get your money back from the association or the apartment your acting from. All you pay for is him to print out documents that anyone can do for you. None of them are legally binding. Only legally binding thing about using their service is paying up front for a service you clearly wont get. Alot of lies and the contract they make you sign before they do anything tells you that even if they dont help you they will not be paying you back even though the website states differently. I wouldnt trust a company that makes you pay before they do any work unless Im emotional desperate and dont know what else to do. This was my first lwase ever in my name. So i was looking for help. didnt find it here, and i was very open and hopeful!!! But i knew somethnig was shady about their services.... Just dont waste your time or money. Regardless of how legal they try to make their work seem, they are not attorneys or lawyers or clerks even... they are regular people getting over. Unprofessional to say the least and they argue in front of customers... act as if your an idiot for paying so much money for them to waste your time. They get paid first hand so they arent obligated to really do anything once you sign contract. spent 3 hours at an appointment that was supposed to be 30 minutes because the owner was wasting my time. Because they can or so they think so.Ken Volk of Arizona Tenants Advocates was honest and sincere about how to deal with my landlord and my problems with her after finding out we rented a drug house which was also a very distressed property with no air or hot water and uninhabitable for some time.Our landlord has failed to disclose and failed to comply with safety and health codes,civil violations and how to deal with her failure to disclose lead based paint disclosure abuse of access and trespass.Our landlord intentionally, negligently, or recklessly interfered with our use and enjoyment of the land and that the defendant continued her conduct after learning of actual harm or substantial risk of future harm to the plaintiffs interest.Arizona Tenants Advocates gave us truthful,sincere and honest advice and after speaking to an attorney the law firm also advised me ATA had given me true and accurate communication.We are very thankful that there is an advocate on on side who is doing the right thing for the tenant. Arizona has weak to non-existent tenant protection laws. For example, one time my family was threatened with eviction via a voice mail message on a Friday because the landlord had not received the rent check. After a hellish week-end wondering what happened to the money that had already been debited from the bank account and calculating how a new check could be covered, I got another voice mail on Monday informing me that the check had been misplaced in the office, had been found and the rent was current.Recently,the landlord casually informed my family that the lease would not be renewed because they wanted the apartment vacated so they could do a complete renovation (cabinets, fixtures, flooring, etc) and raise the rent. I asked whether the apartment could be vacated before the lease was up, so as to beat the snowbirds and my family would have a better selection of apartments. I was told that despite the landlord wanting the apartment vacant, my family would still be assessed two-months rent as a penalty for breaking the lease early. Thats when I contacted Arizona Tenants Advocates.Ken Volk of Arizona Tenants Advocates is extremely knowledgeable about the intricacies of Arizona rental laws and has developed a series of checklists and instructions to help tenants avoid legal missteps that would result in a court ruling in the landlords favor, should the dispute go to court. Landlords hold all the cards, and Arizona Tenants Advocates is the ace up your sleeve that they wont expect.

Dont waste your money on ATA, Ken Volk is a joke he has no legal authority to get you out of any lease! Ken is just a document preparer which means all he can do is fill in the blanks to form letters. Ken will make your land lord really angry if your luck you might get out of the lease but most likely they will come after you and then Ken Volk will turn on you, he will not keep helping you! He will avoid your phone calls and blame you for everything. Is this the kind of person you want working for you? I think not, Ken will take your money and not work for you at all. Talk to your land lord if you need out of your lease.. If they wont work with you just move out. You would be better off this way and wouldnt of wasted your money on ATA and Ken Volk the guy is a bad news!
