My name is Leevond,like others who written a review I was starting to get discouraged and wanted to give up,was refused because I didnt qualify under Covid19 but found out there are funds for non covid reasons also.Had to start over I started this back in May it took me two months for Wildfire to reply I got a Temp job in that time and paid my own rent but when I lost that job found myself behind 3 months on rent thats when I reached out Noah took my case but again no help because I wasnt covi mind you each time I had to wait hours to reach someone on Mondays had to start over three times,finally got a appointment for non covid help,John Long and my counselor Nora have been great thanks so much and God bless you, couldnt ask for a better case manager very understanding and helpful,had to resubmit papers and everything and was losing patience but stuck with it now my mind is at ease as I found out today my rent and utilities will be paid up now I can start my new job and save up money these have been trying times for us all have patience and dont give up you will get the help you need make sure to get all the documents they ask for and youll be fine.Agin thank John Long and especially Nora you have saved my life I really was expecting the worst and got wonderful news,and it still isnt over as Noah and Wildfire still have me in there system and I cant get check released in till they get me out there system which Im working on now,and I know Ill be alright and the hard part is over.God bless you Nora cant express how happy youve made me.Tgank you.Leevond

I can’t even begin to say thank you. You guys saved my life. I know ppl it’s hard to get ahold of them, I tried for a while too. But I was just helped today. My rent is paid up 3 months. My power up over $780. I literally was in tears today. I hope everyone there and very one still trying to get assistance Is blessed. I prayed. Try that.

I called in a minute before 8 am and got on hold exactly at 8. I still ended up the 89th person on hold. I was on hold for 30 mins and got my appointment thankfully. It’s crazy this the one appointment line for entire city of Phoenix. But I do appreciate what they do.

I havent had the chance to deal with them personally but I tried calling at 8am like Im supposed to but whenever I do Im on a busy signal until it cuts out and Verizon tells me the call cannot be completed as dialed. How the hell is anyone supposed to get through to you guys if it does that every time?

It isnt easy to get through and I understand that they are limited. With that being said I am great full that I did get an appointment I am a mother of 5 that fell behind on my light bill. And Armondo had great patience while getting my information need. I was approved for help and could not be more great full. Thank you so much.

This service is absolutely useless. After 200 failed attempts to contact anyone at this office, I am reporting them to state and federal regulators. They were given funds to help people during this pandemic and they do nothing but play games with peoples lives. Operating a fund to help people and then not picking up the phone or offering an alternative contact method, such as a web form, this smells like malfeasance, waste, fraud, and abuse. I highly recommend anyone who can not get through to contact your local state representative and your federal representative. This is not acceptable and needs to be corrected. The citizens of Phoenix should not put up with such nonsense.

Poor service on the phone sine 8:00 calling 366 times then at 10:11 am Got thru and been on hold since the. 10:56 am poor phone service If you can avoid City of Phoenix do it or to get thru someone other resource better off playing the lottery and sell yo self or hussle It’s now 11:30 still hold this call is being recorded so the director can hear the conversation No they just changed the message: “We are no longer making appointments. After waiting on the phone since 8:00 The director and supervisor needs to see this one needs to be replaced

Because of the covid19 we were behind on rent .so far that it was almost impossible to get ;caught up .I was referred to john f long for help .. they stoped us from being homeless they all had great attitudes. its great to know that there are places out there that care... thanks again. Erin

Got denied rental assistance. It so frustrating because you know what the worker says and they deny it. My situation is that I didnt have a signature on my expired lease and I am month to month. Now, I let Steve know my lease was through email and didnt have signature and I am month to month he tells me ok, I will call them dont worry. So Im thinking everything will be ok because he is going to call them and I send my lease because he asks me too. Well, to my surprise he doesnt call on my appointment date and I call today to see whats going on. He tells me he didnt call because the lease didnt have signatures and hes couldnt do appointment. I told him he didnt say it had to have signatures because it was email and of course he denies he says such. I told him to go back and listen to the phone call, but he says they do not record calls ( which they should for issues like this.) Then when I told him why did he tell me he would call them and not to worry, he just says call back Monday for another appointment. I just got back to work from unpaid maternity leave and Ive gotten help with John f long with the over $1000 in utilities, and he says its different help, but ok they still asked for and used the same lease I have. Anyway, I know he could care less what happens from here on out with me and my 6 kids, and its very stressful to have to rely on these sources for help and get slapped in the face.

I rated a 1 to get this going, but I feel a 0 says it better! I wish I could rate this service ,but I cannot get thru in order to make an appointment! I started calling just before 8:00 AM and it was busy. At exactly 8:08 AM a recording told me they were not setting any mode appts., they were filled up!!!Wth kind of help is this??? I really got to get help w my ý bill- is John Long the ONLY place in Phx,- thats ALL of the 4th or 5th largest US city, PHoenix??? Why isnt there any other agencies?

I went here for a class on the weekend. Im guessing since it was the morning, there was still plenty of spaces to park at in the parking lot.Restrooms inside are very clean. The classroom space was clean too, however it was a bit small to fit all the students in there. We were only able to fit 5 of those long tables and the rest of us had to sit.The ladies teaching the class did an amazing job. They made the class interactive and made sure we understood all the material before moving on.

This place is awesome !!! I went down there on the 26th day of May turn in my documents. The Lady who came out of of the side door was very kind She had made sure I had everything I needed.It was a great experience dealing with some people who still show manners to disable people The Lady who answer the door Thank you

Started calling at 7:58am they don’t open until 8am been on the phone non stop calling since finally got the automated system at 9:25am waited and waited until finally at 9:50am some lady answer very rude and says we are not paying rent no more I try to explain that I had been on the phone nonstop calling since 7:58 she then got an attitude and said they don’t open till 8 so if they don’t open till 8 why the hell didn’t they answer if I was on the phone calling them since before 8 on top of calling kept getting hung up on what kind of help is this? I was in need not in need to get kicked even more while I am down I have 3 kids and am bout to loose my apartment thank you John F Long!!!!

They are excellent, they truth help 100% if you get chase to be taken then follow what they told you. if no answer phone means they are full. tray another day, week so, one day you will get in. I love them.

Perfect service for our residents to attend many of the different activities that are offered. Staff are nice and courteous. Considering this is a free service to most residents, I would say you get a lot for your money. No complaints here.

So second time in the last 2 weeks that Ive called starting at 8 am and was never informed what number in the queue I was and sat and waited for 45+ mins and still had noone answer then to find out all the appointments were filled and still waited after to see if anyone was going to pick up and still had to listen to the recording for another 25 mins its outrageous

09/30/2019 UPDATE. Unfortunately, my previous update was based solely on the process of obtaining utility assistance. If you need RENTAL ASSISTANCE, youre better off using your time gathering moving boxes and trying to find a new place to live rather than trying to get a rental assistance appointment.For 6 weeks, Ive been trying to make a rental assistance appointment for an elderly couple. If you call anytime BEFORE 8:00 am, you receive an automated message instructing you to phone back at 8:00. At 8:00 exactly, youll either get a busy signal OR youre put in a queue based on what type of assistance you need. The first week I called, I only received a busy signal. Weeks 2 through 6, I got through and was placed in the queue. Each time, after holding for only 15 to 20 minutes, the hold message changed to indicate all rental assistance appointments had been booked. Not just for John F Long but for EVERY City of Phoenix Family Services Center. I was in queue at 8:00 am so how is that even possible? I continued to hold in order to reach a live person to be certain there were truly no appointments. There were not. On weeks 4, 5 and 6, I enlisted the help of four friends and had them all call in to try and make a rental assistance appointment. Some only received a busy signal. Others were put on hold only to be told there were no more appointments. Considering that, in Arizona, the eviction process can be completed in as little as 15 days, its not helpful or comforting to be told you can call again next week.06/18/19 UPDATE: They have streamlined the appointment intakes. No more waiting hours and hours. If you make sure to bring in all the required documents, you can be in an out in under 2 hours.Ive assisted clients and neighbors by calling on their behalf to set up appointments. People have jobs and cant spend all morning on the phone. Regardless of how close people live to that facility, I always suggest they go to another one. Not that its much easier to reach them by phone but the case workers really want & try to help people. At JFL, it seems most of them are just there for the paycheck.

Really if they are there to help why even go base on how many positions are open and not on hey lets help regardless... and true people lose their homes because of situations like this ... No answer... No room or place, call back next week when they have taken your home away and its a little late.🤔😡

If your job is to help then I dont understand why the phones arent answered and when you actually come to the place to just get an appointment why are you turned away? The place is almost empty today so if someone shows up because you wont answer the phones receptionist why not just give them a appointment TODAY for your next available appointment time? Come on, you have a job to HELP. So HELP.

They never answer when you call. The last 2 Mondays Ive called hundreds if times and never got through. And to the one who said that the service is free let me correct you. None of that is free. Everyone who works in this state pays for these services through our taxes so trust me you paid in to it many times over just like the rest of us. They need to accept the case, get things started and deliver results if theyre going to help people. Having people start all over because they didnt bring in 1 or 2 documents is rediculous and it explains why there are so many homeless people in Phoenix today. Get up and help people save their homes.....thats what part of my tax dollars pay you to do. So when I need some help I expect some help please and thank you.

Dont deserve the one star. -F is what they deserve. I need help desperately. Had pneumonia lost work so couldnt pay rent this month started calling before the 1st. (Went to eviction court. Have to be out by 31st.) Start calling before 8 and get a recording then it goes to busy then told all apointments are full. Twice I got thru the guy said he was emailing supv and would call me back. NOT. Got text to call them on such day. turned out to be MLK Day so closed. got a hold of a lady she told me I didnt talk to anyone and theres no record that I did and apointments are full and they dont send texts out. Call next week. Funny thing even the mngt here told to try here. Why cant I get help.

Living and working in Phoenix for 4 yrs... I have stumbled upon hard times due to car loss from a car accident. No matter what time on Monday I call all I get is a busy signal. I am now forced to be homeless because these people intentionally tie up the ph lines. There is no way on the face of this earth that this line doesnt free up. I call, call, call, call, call, call, and call. Finally after hrs of calling the line will free up but guess what they claimed theyre booked for the week. Really? Booked who? If no one can get through. I am so sad by this ridiculous service.

I dont understand why the receptionist have a job there her customer service skills are very unprofessional she always look like she has an bad attitude. I went a couple weeks back to sign my son up for headstart but she looked annoyed like I was there to ask for assistance like. I know they policy but if you going to be forwarding calls back to the main menu and hanging up on folks just because you THINK they calling to receive assistance I think its about time she resigns or get fired. I just called 30xs in a row first time got hung up on when they answered afterwards just forwarded back to main menu. I have an question to ask and they paying her to do her job well WOMAN why arent you answering the phone thats your job RECEPTIONIST

Terrible! They say they help with rent but its like trying to win a prize from a radio station. You can only call on Mondays at 8am and you call and call and call and call. When/If you get through you get out on hold for 20 minutes and then they tell you they have no appointments available and give you the phone number to another place where you play the same game. I have played it 3 weeks in a row. Its impossible to get help here. Dont even bother wasting your time.
