We went through the orientation and filled out the application, listened to the information and when our intake specialist called and said I noticed your interested in adopting a baby or toddler she very bluntly said we work at reunification as the ultimate goal, if your not interested in fostering then this isn’t the right place for you. She offered to send info for other agencies and she never sent it. We felt that info and application we filled was very misleading.

I volunteered for AASK for 2 years and fell in love with the organization. Every summer they bring foster siblings who were desperate during the adoption process back together for a week if fun and relationship building games and events. Joanne (coordinator) has a heart of gold and is an absolutely amazing person. I love AASK for what they do and would recommend anyone who is looking to adopt to go see Joanne, she simply cares and will help you!

We were matched with a child that does not need to be matched with a family...he moved into our home a month earlier due to extremely horrible behavior at school and foster placement...he played along like it was everyone’s fault, other than his!!!!...& we believed him...they never provided promised therapy, his behavioral therapist was more excited about playing Pokémon and stars!...we had to call the police to get some type of guidance, due to the fact that he was harming our toddler, and have done things that a child or human being should not do...why is this kid back online, and not in a rehab???...they just keep passing him, with not a care on the world!!!...his team was absolutely unprofessional and often pointed their fingers at each other!...this has been A NIGHTMARE!!!...& we are afraid for the family that gets tricked by him again!!!...he’s had 3 too many adoptive placements, not including his foster placements!...HE HAD THE WORLD WITH OUR FAMILY!!!...They kept threatening to take our adoption licenses away many times afterwards...no one EVER CAME TO OUR HOME!!!...I WLL NOT MENTION ANY NAMES!!!!...you all know who you are!!!...the system is failing this kid sooo bad!!!...& it has become a game to him!!!...We will never refer anyone to come to AASK, because we care for their insanity!!!...it was AN EXTREMELY BAD NIGHTMARE, & his team is playing along!!!...how about providing therapy for families that are traumatized due to the child’s bad behavior???...now they are marketing him as if he never received structure!...structure was posted his personal calendar, on stickies, In his bathroom...everywhere!!!!....he had no needs or wants, & we were their for his every need!!!...this kid will continue to get In more and worser situations, because they cared less that he is still a harm to society and to himself!!!...if the system cared, then they would stop failing Him by being so passive about his behavior!...they keep dumping him out on people whom think that he is an Angel in the beginning. Once he’d get comfortable, he had no problem with calling me his slave, Cinderella; his servant!...he will continue getting away with murder because his team does not hold him accountable!!!...& he had no remorse about moving on to the next house!...no one called or checked up, or even cared to call...We harbored his belongings, and pee pee clothes for 3 weeks, prior to them picking them up...we are still sad, however we had to do what was best for our family!!!
