As a mildly autistic and shy person that sometimes gets intimidated by mechanics, this is a good place to go have your car fixed. The manager, Jim, is kool and personable and the mechanics seem to really enjoy working there. Sometimes, there will be a wait but Id rather have my car done right the first time then have problems just because theyre trying to rush to get someone out in two hours when the job requires three or four. Definitely will continue to have my car serviced here because I wont get screwed over or taken advantage of just because I dont know a lot about cars. Glad I found this place!

They did exactly what I asked and charged me a fair price. I had to wait several hours for a 30 minutes job, with no forewarning. This is a much better location than the one on East Little Creek.

I called beforehand and was told my vehicle would be looked at within the hour after I dropped it off. However, when I did drop it off, they told me it would now be 2 hours til they could even look at it, ok, no big deal. Over 3 hours later, they called me to inform me they wouldnt even touch it because it didnt have a cat, which, from the factory, I am 100% certain mine did not come with. Just a disappointing experience overall.

Brake job for under $100! I was out of there within 1 1/2 hrs. My only issue is that now its been only 2 months ....and my brakes are squeaking and squealing again.Update: My brakes stopped squeaking and squealing. Ive continued coming here. Jim is great to work with. The mechanics always figure out the issue, find less expensive ways to fix it and put everything on the table to make sure you dont have an ongoing issue. Theyre now my sons new mechanic. 😁

Big Als on Military Hwy was able to diagnose my noise on a Friday afternoon and fix it the same day. Their diagnosis was correct and the repair fixed it. They were fast and very courteous. I also appreciate the fact they were not pushy to recommend a bunch of maintenance items for which an old car at another shop could warrant. They also charged 0 shop fees! Prices are great. Service great. Honest. Shout out to Eddie who assisted me - who was friendly and helpful.

Had to get my muffler welded back on. Service was fast even when they were busy. The technician named Brandon worked on my car and the weld looks to be very secure. Definitely coming back in the future for other maintenance or parts.

The dude was a total meanie over the phone. Trying not to use profanity but it was a less than desirable conversation and all I asked was how much a muffler was for a truck...

I have been going here for a minute! Manager have changed, but good service remains the same. They tell you exactly what is wrong with your car, and their price is cheaper than everyone else I know. Took my Honda in due to rumbling when I accelerated between 20-30 mph. Tech took it for a 2 minutes spin, ran back in the shop and said the problem was my transmission. They hurried me out saying sorry we don’t do transmission work, and good luck. Took the car to Honda, and all I needed was a wheel alignment. Like wow!

I had an exceptional experience at the Big Als at 3501 N. Military Highway, Norfolk, VA! Shawn assured me that my vehicle was in capable, experienced AND honest hands! I had only came in for an oil change but was concerned about my braking system. After a free examination of the braking system, Shawn explained what the issues were with my vehicle in detail, even offering me the opportunity to view the issues, what had to be done to correct the problem and the cost. I really appreciated the time he spent with me concerning my vehicle!! I will be returning to this location in the future!

Shawn Lozy is awesome! I talked to him on the phone and he quoted me a price on brake pads, $99 per axle. I went in, left my car and he said he would call me with what he found. He called me and said, I didnt need brake pads they were fine. I was amazed. He did rotate my tires and changed my oil for only $30. I wouldve paid more at Jiffy Lube for the oil change alone and still needed my tires rotated. Thank you so much Shawn! Your honesty and professional service is really appreciated. I will definitely be returning.

I was very disappointed in the initial muffler/resonator delete I had done there, and I can only blame myself. I was rushing them to get it done on a friday afternoon, knowing how busy they already were. But after voicing my concerns about the work with Jim and the shop guys, they expediently resolved the issue by the next morning. I got exactly what I wanted, and couldnt be happier with it. I highly recommend them for your custom muffler needs

Recently took my truck to big als to have them check out all my fluids and hoses. A routine check for a road trip. They called me about 3 hours later and said everything looked good and that it would be just fine. 2 hours into my road trip my engine over heated and I had a coolant leak from one of the hoses.

The place seems to provide a good customer service but I recently dropped my vehicle to see if they could fix an annoying noise in one of the vehicles wheels. After a couple of hours they gave me their opinion on what was wrong with my breaks and quoted the fix for $800+. At the end they ended returning the vehicle because they couldnt order a new Caliper, because it was a special kind of caliper and they couldnt find it anywhere. At least I didnt got charge anything for the time they put in the attemp to fix my breaks. Few days later I went to another shop to get another opinion and all what my vehicle actually needed was an adjustment in the vehicles breaks, nothing more, the caliper was actually in good working condition and my cars noise is gone forever. They didnt even charged me for the adjustment because they thought it wasnt fair to get charged for something so simple. I almost lost $800+, glad that I followed my gut to get a second opinion.

Got my aftermarket exhaust installed today. They were very fast and friendly. The price could not be beat. One of the exhaust hangers came undone and I will stop back up there to have that issue remedied. Approximately one-half of car dealership price for small section of exhaust system repair. Found a small defect in exhaust system near muffler which was missed by state inspector. Also repaired broken motor mount. Completed all repairs in three hours after vehicle droped off. Car was reinspected next day and passed with no problems. Thank you for getting us back on the road.

Took my car to Big Als for a check engine light and Shawn Lozy helped me a lot. Before contacting Shawn, I shop around other shops who charges for a diagnostics test. Big Als diagnostic test is free and the repairs for my car was the most reasonable price in Virginia. The mechanics are great and take their time. I travel a lot within Virginia being in the military and Big Als is highly recommended.

Best customer service of all the Big Als Ive been to. Big Als has the best prices on routine oil changes as well as any general car maintenance. They could do a little better advising customers of any wait times, I have sat for awhile in their waiting room but the service is well worth it.

I went in on a Saturday morning for an oil change. Shawn Lozy and his crew were wonderful. It didnt take very long. Ive got the peace of mind of knowing that Im good for another 3000 miles, before my car would need another oil change.

Went to the North Military Highway to get brakes fixed we had a lifetime warranty. Because the warranty was from 2004 the Manager had to make a call to see how it was to be handled. Shawn Lozy was so professional. He gave me a time which he met was very courteous and helpful. The store was clean tidy from the floors to the magazines on the table. I would definitely recommend this locations and Mr Lozy to anyone.

My cars emergency brake was acting up. So I took it by Big Als from the advice of my shipmate. Shawn ( store manager) had them take a look at it. It was a simple case of the break just sticking so there was no charge. I appreciate their honesty, professionalism and integrity. I can trust them for my next service issue and will be back for sure.

Tried to call in for an estimate. With less than a minute of conversation the gentleman got extremely short and aggravated. Not even attempting to hear what I needed. He was so bad I had to cut him off in the middle of his speech with a NO THANK YOU and hung up.

My wifes car had A/C issues and I needed it fixed fast. Took my car to Shawn who had it diagnosed ASAP and quoted me a price. I asked him was this a band-aid or do I need to replace the whole a/c system. He said, No Sir, this will fix you right on up and you shouldnt have any more problems guaranteed. Besides a new A/C would cost you more than double what I told you, and I want you to keep coming back with all of your cars. Our shop is not like the other guys, we treat you right. His mechanics have tons of experience and have been at this store for a while. My wifes car is running great so Im happy and she is happy.

My experience with this shop and Shawn the manager is horrible. The truck (89 Dodge Dakota) would not start and they installed a new starter and electrical coil but the truck still does not start and they do not know what is wrong with it. They said we must tow it to an electrical shop since they cannot repair it. Shawn said that it may need a computer which is more expensive than the truck is worth. They also installed a new muffler even though the truck does not run. Now they want payment for the starter and the muffler before they can give back the keys and they ONLY accept cash payment (no credit card) because they know they are wrong. So we are supposed to pay for a starter and a muffler for a truck that does not run and may not be worth fixing. What reputable company installs a muffler on a non-running truck? in addition, who takes their car to the shop and expects that they will have to tow it out of there? Since they have no electrical expertise, they should not have offered to work on the truck. They are wrong and they flat-out refuse to own up to it. We asked them to either let us take it somewhere else to have it looked up and if it can be fixed, we will come back and pay them, or remove their parts and let us take the truck somewhere else where they have mechanics that know how to fix this truck. They refused. Stay away from this business…

We took our car in for a couple things including an alignment. They were unable to completely do the alignment because 2 of the tires were bad. One employee told me once I got new tires, I had 90 days to bring it back and get it recalibrated for free. We went home, happy customers and the staff was awesome!! We ended up getting new tires the same day and tried to bring the car in 2 weeks later. When we spoke to the manager, Shawn he got an attitude and stated that no one there told us that we could get it recalibrated without paying. When confronted face to face, Shawn also said that the employee who gave out this information was a floater and was not HIS employee. He said it was against store policy and he will not honor what the ‘floater’ said to us. He gave me the district manager’s (Patrick) phone #. Patrick was awesome and honored what the employee told us. He immediately scheduled a day for us to get the car recalibrated and met us there personally to ensure we were taken care of as valued customers.

I was in Norfolk , Va for a wedding, when one of my brake Calipers failed. this happen Friday night around 10pm, I Yelpd brake Repair and Big Als came up and had good reviews. I called the shop first thing Saturday morning 8am, Shawn picked up and told me that he had a bunch of cars in front of me and to have me tow my truck down to him, I was able to get the truck down to him at 9am, I was nerves that the Truck would not be done and I would have to stay till Monday. But i was wrong, he had the truck done so I could drive home after the Wedding on Sunday, and Big Als cost was just what I expected. I just what to thank Him and his team for fixing my truck.

Horrible! Please dont use this business for anything. I went in for a oil change, nothing more.. local, close to home, just moved to Norfork so didnt want to go all the way to Virginiabeach for a oil change. 2012 mitz,outlander, new inspection. Came out telling me I needed new battery / and breaks all around, we can do that for $484....no thanks I said, I just had inspection, well they said it shouldnt of passed, ok ... the tech had hard extensive time pulling my car out, finally out, said I had a hard time with the reset???? Well, my clock, my radio, both switched off, even my mileage reset, hummmm? Car had difficult time starting, never ever before. So he says your battery is leaking, ok....so I call auto zone where purchased battery and they say yes, you have a warranty, come in we have in stock, no problem. I go and they checked battery, changed out, very professional, very accommodating. .. go out of town/ trip, car kept hesitatng when starting, came home, overnight, car completely dead! Nothing! !!! Nothing. ....had to have car jumped, took back to the shop, very unprofessional, told them everthing. ...didnt care, a oil change has nothing to do with your car not keep battery charge, duh! Not stupid as he tried to make me feel, of course not the oil change but something with the resetting, has me thinking its that? Blwe me off..... well you can leave it overnight, well look at it when we can? I caint my vacation is over, I need to work tomorrow. Well youll have to wait, first come first serve. ....ugh I was first, last week when you sent me on my way with something not right? Anyway. .waiting 3 hours, understanding, just wanted my car right, less than 5 minutes of pulling it in to check, came and said its your battery. ..its not good, still hesitate, he said you need to take it back, ok I call auto zone, they say yes, bring it in....here I go again. ..he test the battery in front of me, and says it can happen, but 99% sure its something pulling your battery, ok check altinator, good.... he said I suggest you take it back now, as to if this reoccurs again, youll get the same reasoning. ..makes since...so I do, and was treated like the plague. ....the one sales clerk was nice, but the other Walked out as I came in, I explained the situation from auto zone and he the clerk said youll have to wait on him, its his store.. .great? Without even to come and talk with me he sent the clerk back with a business card with Charles Grudenich on the back and said there is nothing we can do you will need to call him...ok.....unbelievable. so yes I went home, called the ? Dont even know his title, but went through the entire situation,..hes said yes I am aware, and we didnt do anything to cause you starting issue, I went back over the tech telling me about the resetting, and how it shut down every thing in my car, he said no we didnt couldnt have.....now I know for a fact it was shut down, radio, clock, mileage, and not just for a oil change. ...anyway, caint help me, so now I will be going to the mitz, dealer ship, when I guses that should of been my only stop ... this review is worth the view! !!! You will be told you need more, regardless .......as I sat there those 3 hours, Everyone, except one customer was told they needed more, .....crooks to the highest level. ...

Big Als give you wrong information. I called on the phone to get a estimate on a oil change for a 07 dodge charger. The gentleman on the phone ask whats the engine size how many miles and it depend on the package you choose. Ok Thank you. I goes to Big Als to get the oil change the gentleman at the counter as the same question the gentleman on the phone ask but the gentleman at the counter says to me we dont do oil changes on dodge charger with your engine size because they blow up. My question to him was the gentleman on the phone didnt know that information. I wouldnt have wasted my time coming up here at 8am on a Saturday morning.He didnt answer and started waiting on the next customer No apologize or nothing.Overall it turned out to be a good day car still got a oil change plus more. Your lost and Tread Quarter gain.

Hey listen up, man I had major issues with my 2004 VW Jetta after running around I finally took it to Big ALs, they were able to hook me up totally & at a good price. no lip no Bull, good people good work, Im from up top & know game when I see it, Big ALs is straight up Word!!

After spending almost 3 hours waiting for them to replace the converter because of an exhaust leak, I had to come back for them to try again so there wouldnt be leaks from the welds. At least he was nice enough to give me a free oil change.
