Updated April 2021:Needed to get a tire repaired - due to a slow leak from picking up 3 pieces of metal shrapnel. They were extremely fast, efficient, very safety/health conscious (COVID-19), and got me in, and out within an hour.For tire repairs, they dont charge anything. I argued. (Politely) demanded that I be allowed to pay for some labor time. But Kevin was firm and insisted that this was their policy since 1996 ...You need auto body work? You need tire repairs? I wouldnt hesitate to take any of my vehicles to them.Subsequently had the Turbo on my vehicle need replaced. The stealerships all wanted $4,000 to replace it. I brought my vehicle to Kevin, and he worked with me to allow me to source a cheaper turbo, and they did the work. These guys are awesome. And significantly less expensive than the stealership.The new turbo has been in my vehicle for over 6 months now, and no problems.Thanks KEVIN !!!!

I have visited this shop twice, once for 90K miles maintenance and another time for taillight warning sign on the dashboard (I drive a 2001 Toyota Avalon). Both Kevin (the owner) and Tony (the technician) are both very knowledge about car repair and gave me recommendation on what is essential to fix during the 90K miles since the car is pretty old and I am not going to keep it for too long. A few weeks after the taillight warning sign turn on (probably wasnt related to the 90K miles maintenance) and I went into Kevins store again and Tony replaced and fixed the taillight within 5 minutes and he did not charge me anything. I would recommend Kevins shop!

Even though it usually is quite busy, they are always very quick to take care of my car. Most of the times its ready the same day I bring it in. Kevin seems like an honest and sincere guy. I like him.

Superb service, nice guys, and very honest!I have a Ford Explorer sport 2016, and the right rear upper molding (a plastic board) was broken. I bought the part online and needed someone to install it for me. The installation is a bit tricky because we need to take off the right rear window glass that sticks to the metal, install the molding, and stick the glass back. I checked with many auto repair stores in Mountain View, and two Ford dealerships. Kevins auto repair gave the lowest quote $150. I sent the car there and they did a great job. When I picked it up, I was told the final price is $120 because the glass guy charged them less than expected. This is the first time I saw such honest auto repair guys! Even they dont tell me, I would not know it. Last but not the least, the service itself is superb. When I left there, they also told me some things to avoid in next 24 hours to ensure the glass firmly sticks to metal.

Kevin has taken care of me and my numerous cars since 1988, when his shop was inside the Shell at Shoreline and El Camino. Thats how old I am. Kevin has a particular talent, in this girls opinion, to be able to interpret my attempts to mimic & describe what my car was doing, and accurately, and quite often very quickly, determine the problem with my car and get me back on the road.And his prices have always been fair and he never does the pressure sell that my cars need work that they dont. Im sure weve all had that experience. No worries. That just wont happen at Kevins Auto!I totally trust Kevin and his crew and tell everyone I know that they are the best auto repair in Mountain View.

Overpriced parts and servicesHowever if you in need of top notch mechanic that loves and cares about cars and you like to deal with down to earth, straight to the point people, you wont find a better place in the area.Here is why I love this shop:They drive me home and back so I dont need a ride or wait there for the repair.Their prices are very reasonable. I always check prices in a couple of places before taking a car for repairs and I always find Kevins offer the best.At my last oil change Kevin cut the price of the job, (which was without the discount lower than the competition), and I never asked for the discount.My last repair was for a shaking wheel while braking at the high speed and oil leak. When they brought me back to the shop I got quite a shock. Tony said the repair was free. According to Kevin it was under warranty. I have to say that I really appreciate it.My car is old and even if they could get a warranty on the parts they replaced, they still spent significant time on the work itself. This shows you people that proud of their work.

Update - 5/9/2014 -Excellent day. My PT being 10 years old developed a jammed Sunroof as well as the A/C stopped working. As it turned out, the roof was just super disgustingly dirty. Kevin said after a cleaning and a lube job there was really no issue with it (agreed, it works like new). The A/C was flat lined. They filled it and used some kind of die that then showed them where my leak was by using a black light. The whole thing seemed very CSI to me and was amazing. They found a nothing sized crack in a hose that was the bleed point. New hose and my A/C is back up to speed.Kevin and his crew are awesome!Original - some time mid 2013Kevin and his staff are the pit crew that keep my car running smoothly. I have used Kevin on numerous occasions for my PT Cruiser from oil changes and smog checks to the replacement of major parts that wore out from my rather over exuberant usage. I would recommend him to friends and will make his utilization non-optional for my family.

I went Kevins Auto Repair today to install the front license plate and it was a great experience. (1) They asked me to check the bottom area of my trunk to see if there is any extra frame for the plate (luckily, I had one) (2) They used their tool and screws which I did not have--the tool that would cost over $100 if I were to buy one (3) installation was fast (took ~5min) and great. They did not leave any holes in visible areas on my bumpers--it was their suggestion to not have holes on visible areas and I like the result. Most importantly, there was no labor fee for this! The work was perfectly done promptly and I paid nothing. I feel bad that I did not have any cash available with me to give tips. All three people interacted with me there were quick and clear in communicating!

Picked up my explorer from Kevins today. Its running great now. They explained what was wrong with it (leaking coolant was because of old and loose hose clamps), how they fixed it and how they tested to make sure that the coolant was not leaking anymore under pressure.Thus is the third time Ive gone to their shop and Ive had good experiences with my explorer and before with my cavalier (to replace a radiator and general tune up).Id recommend making an appointment if you need to get something fixed more quickly, but even without one I go my car back after a couple days.

These guys are great! I needed to charge my car battery for a few hours (since it had died) and Kevin’s auto repair said to bring it right over. They didn’t charge me at all and did all the checks on it and called right away when it was done. I will definitely be coming back for future car repairs.

They usually do a great job. Sometimes we feel like we might be spending more than we would have at other places. The last job took longer because a part didn’t come on time. Things can be improved but overall a good team of people who get the job done.

I have just got tire rotation and mechanical check done here. All for free! And they did the work very carefully and professionally. My tires are old (more than five years), but still have lots of tread. They checked the conditions of the tires and gave me honest advice on how much more time I can ride on them and when I should change them. Very good service! Thanks!

Kevin and crew completed a 4 wheel brake job on my Honda Accord..in by 9a, out by 3p..even let me post date a check to cover the cost since it was a safety issue and needed immediate attention a few days before payday..what more can you ask for..?! :)

I am a Kevins customer for the last four years. I go there for all the cars needs. Most of my friends go there now after I refer them the first time. Every time I got excellent service. They care for cars and are very honest about what your cars condition is and their prices. I bought and sold two cars and Kevin revised them for me. The place is always busy so make yourself an appointment.

I would give these guys 10 stars if I could. I live up in San Mateo, but my check engine light came on in Mountain View and I didnt want to drive around with that so I took my car here. The mechanic I talked to (Tony) explained that it was probably a flaky sensor and that our best bet was to just reset the code and see if it came back. I figured he couldve easily made $400-500 by replacing stuff out of the gate, so I was really impressed with his honesty.Sure enough, the light came back, and the same guy gave me a really detailed and accurate estimate (what the problem probably was—bad sensor–how they were going to check for that, how they could fix it, etc) and then diagnosed and fixed the problem in like 2-3 hours. Totally accurate to the estimate. This is a really high-quality business, and Im definitely coming here from now on

Honest and really helpful! I went in when all my Honda dash lights started blinking. They diagnosed the issue to be a sensor problem but told me to take it to a service center as I was still covered by warranty. They did not charge me anything for the effort they put in! All I can say is theyve won my trust and if Ive something that my service center cant do for me, Id definitely go here!

Weve taken cars to Kevins for 7+ years now, and very happy to have found this shop. Their honest practices are refreshing- they play the long game there, charging fair prices, and being forthright about what really needs to be addressed. Just last week, they diagnosed our SUVs Transfer Case was about to catastrophically fail, and researched for us that the manufacturer would cover the repair at the dealer, even out of warranty (due to a special-case extension). This saved us a considerable repair cost, even if it didnt help them (since they didnt get to do the repair). We have a number of similar smaller-scale stories, no-charge diagnoses, etc. over the years in that regard as well. Definitely cant recommend them enough.

I honestly think someone is writing fake reviews for this Auto Repair, because I had the worse experience Yesterday!Upon arrival I was told to sit in their disgusting office, where no one greeted me, only angrily asked for my keys.After the inspection of my vehicle... Kevin came back into the office with the potential owner of my vehicle and basically scolded me.I have never been treated like this before. I took my car in for a pre-sell inspection and was not only embarrassed in front of the potential owners of my vehicle, but also told my Ford Escape was basically worth $0.Kevin raised his voice at me multiple times during the conversation while asking him what I should do with my used car. His response was... put a blowtorch to itI would NEVER suggest this Auto shop to anyone! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Literally the best mechanic shop I have ever been to in my 16 years of dealing with older cars of mine breaking down. I had a difficult problem that could have cost me thousands of dollars and they took the time to research exactly what was going on and it ended up costing me 20 dollars. Stopped by Kevins on my way to work seeking a second opinion and a quotation for repairs on a 1999 4-Runner. The local Toyota dealer said replace CV-boot and various front-end bushings. Another local repair shop wanted $65 (non-refundable, not to be applied to service work) just to take a look. After a three minute wait, Kevin (himself) just went out, shimmied under the front wheel area, and checked it out. When I bent down to look too, he held a little mirror and his flashlight and explained what we both saw together.Bottom line - Normal Wear and Tear - slight leak - Monitor but dont replace anything now - maybe tighten a clamp next time I have a service.No charge - no work $ for him - ... His comment when asked... We dont do make believe here(!).I now fully intend to be back with real work. He won a new (non make-believe!) customer.

Great service!While driving to work this morning, my check engine light turned on. Eek! I found these guys who opened at 7:30am, and so I drove right over. Arriving at 7:19, they were open and happy to check it :). The gentleman ran the code, and determine it was a catalytic converter inefficiency error, and told me hed clear it, and to let him know if it came back!I was ready to roll by 7:23am, made my day! These will be my goto guys from now on :)

I recently brought my 2006 Toyota RAV4 to Kevins Auto Repair because my battery was draining over night and there was a leak into the passenger side. Long story short, the problem with the battery drain ended up resolving itself after the car dried out. They were also able to resolve the leak into the passenger side! BUT, Tony, the service manager, only charged me for one hour of labor when he could have charged me much more especially given all the testing they did to try and resolve the electrical issue.Throughout the entire process, they were upfront about the situation with my car. I would highly recommend Kevins to anyone with car problems!

Above and beyond great service. Had a catalytic converter installed 5 years ago. Turned out it was the wrong one. No fault on Kevins as right part was ordered just wrong part sent. I drove around with this part for 5 years. Even passed several smog checks. Finally a eagle eyed smog technician noticed that it was not California approved.I called Kevins not expecting much since it had been 5 years. To my surprise they replaced it. With no charge for parts and labor.

Fair prices + honest mechanics = an unbeatable combination. As a woman, Ive had auto shops try to upsell repairs that arent necessary. Kevins staff always do their best to diagnose the problem, and if that doesnt fix it right away, theyll correct the problem at no extra charge. I brought the car in because it was making an ear-piercing noise. Two other shops told me a) nothings wrong and b) needs new struts. Instead of spending $700 on unnecessary shocks and struts, Kevins Auto Repair figured out that the rear brakes just needed cleaning and charged me $64 for labor. Been a loyal customer for years, and wont waste my time going to anyone else ever again.

This was my first visit to Kevins, wanted to get my corolla oil changed, break light bulb change, health check and smog.Place is opposite to Costco MTV, very close to 101-Rengstorff exit, Intute, Google, Linkidin ...Over all : Very Good, I cant say excellent as its was first visit.People : Mechanics are pros with cars, they did things in a perfect professional order and speed.Place : Its a big workshop inside, dont go by the image on the profile :) , the waiting place is clean and well maintained, has some interesting books and papers to spend time if you are waiting.Cost: They gave me split up estimate of who much it will cost for the all things together, I asked for discount, they totaled it to fair price and Kevin add some more discount in last .One thing I liked when I was waiting : One of the customers was returned an amount of 100+ some change because they repair/spare costed less than estimated, that good.
