First time here. Heard great things but I’m a bit disappointed in the quality of nail polish application and cuticle removal. Don’t get me wrong, the service was great, the massages for both mani and pedi are bomb. But there’s nail polish on the side of my toes and they didn’t go all the way up on my index finger so there’s a gap between the cuticle and where the polish starts. They also didn’t really push the cuticle back on my fingers or toes. I came in with a hangnail and left with that same hangnail. I’ll only be coming back if I want the pedicure massage and mask. Pay no mind to my ring finger, it was like that when I got there.

I appreciate that they were able to take me early, and for the most part everything seemed clean & sanitized. I was in for a Eucalyptus pedicure, i believe lasting 45 minutes. The work done was minimal, the toenails were unevenly cut, there was no feeling or smells of eucalyptus like it would typically have, the massage was very boring and quick, he was talking to his coworker during my service. I left with my feet feeling like they did when I walked in, and the back massage at the end when my toes were drying was “pinchy” and painful. I work in a salon, I do pedicures, for $50 this was probably the worst pedicure I have ever had. I do not recommend, unless you want a fluff & buff in & out overpriced pedi.

I had my nails done and it completely chipped the next day. Disappointed. I went back and they did them over but it chipped again. I spent over 100 including tip . too expensive

Ever since my neighbor introduced me to this place. I go as a special treat to myself. What a great place.

Called for an appt for a full set of acrylics, was told $55. Got to appt, started out ok. Vivi, was my nail tech. She was very aggressive, especially when filing my nails. I left with 6 cuts because she filed so hard. After the tips were put on she asked me what shape I wanted my nails. I told her I like coffin style and she told me that she would be an additional $10. I said no thank you I will just do square nails I dont want to pay $10. So she continued to do my nails and when we got to the painting of the nails the owner of the salon came over and was talking to her. After the owner left my nail tech told me that theyre going to have to charge me an additional $10 because of the length of my nails. Now when she first put on my tips she asked me how long I wanted them and I showed her, she cut my nails to the length that I asked. But never once did she tell me that the length of my nails was going to be an additional $10. They didnt say anything to me about it until my nails were almost all done drying and there was nothing I could do about the length of my nails at that point. I feel like its very unprofessional to add an extra $10 after the fact, never having said anything to me as the client. Also Ive been to many nail salons and Ive never been charged for length of nails. In fact I think my nail length is pretty standard, they are not super long so I dont even understand the additional $10 charge. I am not happy with the service at all, and I definitely will not be coming back to this place.

Walked in with no appointment and wanted a pedicure and gel manicure, I had to wait 30 min because they were really busy at the time and Im so glad I did! I had such a relaxing and enjoyable time and my nails look amazing! Well worth the wait and cost!

I came here twice, first time I wanted a nail design that seemed challenging, but these are professionals right? I went around 5 pm and they closed at 6, showed Runa the picture and she said she can do it, an hour later she’s rushing with another worker and at the end my nails look sloppy, and different.. The nails were lopsided and filed badly, I had 6 cuts by the end because of how careless she was. I went home and was honestly embarrassed of my nails so i filed them and fixed the lopsided tips. Why not give it another try i thought to myself, I wanted these horrible nails fixed, so I called and made another appointment. It only gets worse.. i show up on time, told her the issue and she said she’ll redo it but a different and easier design since the other was too hard for the nail artists. Got rushed to pick another color since she had another client at 3:30,(mind you mine was at 3) filing gave me more cuts, and once again a simple ombré was too hard for Runa. After saying i didn’t like it she just got upset and faced another direction while her coworker had to talk to me.. how childish.. Eventually i just said give me white nails since they can’t do anything apparently. Ended up with sloppy painted white nails and she didn’t even try to even them out so some nails are longer than others. THE TOTAL WAS $105 INCLUDING TIPS!!

I am very displeased with the service received at this location. Due to a power outage, the Newport location sent us to the Middletown service. The receptionist fit us in later that evening with ample time and said it was possible. I had an appointment for a full set and felt very rushed the entire time and that I was not welcomed. I showed the tech what I wanted and she said it was possible to do but what I received was extremely far off from what I requested was extremely displeased with the end product as I had to pay $100. The tech convinced me to do a more expensive nail and the end result was not what I had wanted. She talked on the phone while she was filing my nails and was not paying attention. Multiple nails were filed crooked and were not the same shape and length. If the salon did not want us for an appointment we should not have been scheduled in the evening as well feeling rushed. I am extremely displeased with the service I received and how my nails came out after I was promised they were doable for $100.

I had a pedicure with Tom. He was great! The extra care he took with each toe was the best Ive ever had. Although I think they are pricey. But he was great!

It was a nice experience. .. a friend was treating... and so I had my very first pedicure. .. and foot massage... I would go again....

Very Covid compliant always clean always professional

I just got my pedicure yesterday and the nail polish came completely off. They didn’t let me dry the nail polish and the second i got home it smudged. The lady cut my toe nails so short and crooked. I am very disappointed in how they came out.

This was my first time here, I get dip manicures regularly but as the place I usually go was closed due to Covid, came here. I paid $90 for dip manicure and pedicure. The lady used a paint for the base coat and top coat of the manicure, rather than the clear base dip powder that I have had at every other dip manicure for yrs. I asked her why she wasn’t using powder she this is how she does it. Fine I figured it was just another way and I’d leave it alone. Literally next day they started chipping off and lifting. It’s 40 min away so not worth it go back but I would not waste to ur money here 🙄 pretty frustrating.

Clean place decent prices

These well trained professionals will make you feel right at home. Relaxing atmosphere and top notch service. Will be returning. They are perfectionists in what they do and highly skilled. I had a callus on my toe that had been bothering me for years and after just one session with Frank I saw major improvement.

I am never one to give a bad review. I went there with my mom i asked for dip nails like i always get. First they said they couldnt do what i wanted. Whatever the guy did was terrible. They looked ok at first. When i got home they literally started peeling off the color peeled off all my nails. My two thumps the tip i got put on was lifting off my real nail already. A day later they are all lifting and the dip is chipping. Ive never had such bad nails done in my life. And they charged me 55$!!!!!!! I called to get a refund they asked if i wanted to come back to fix them but couldnt take me for another 4 days!!! Im not waiting 4 days i cant with my nails like this i got way over charged for the worst nail job i ever came across. Will never go back again neither will any of my family or friends. And just to mention i ALWAYS tip over 20%.so disappointed.Also.... to go along with all that the pedicure was very quick not good not food massage. The workers are rude. Literally terrible

Wow! Just what I needed! Great and relaxing green tea pedicure with Oscar! Very nice service and foot massage was awesome! And Im pretty picky. I wish I lived closer, but I will definitely come here every time Im in Newport! Regular salon setting but good service, also got a gel manicure and that was good too! Oscar + foot massage = great start to any weekend!

This place is very clean, modern and regulated- so you get exactly whats listed (pre-dispensed scrubs and lotions and timers for massages). For the price, however, Im not impressed. The scrub portion was simply smeared on the front of my legs and rubbed off with a paper towel immediately and my massage chair was broken. I told my nail technician and he told me I needed to push the buttons. Obviously. It still wouldnt work and I showed him the screen was blank and he tried to fix something in back. There were plenty of chairs, he should have switched me instead of wasting my time. I had to ask him to switch. The best part was they charge for nail polish. A 59 dollar pedicure does not include polish. When I said I was shocked by that, the front desk attendant was super rude and told me thats why there is a big sign. Yes, technically there was a sign near the polish, but I never walked down that far to see it once I selected my color. So read all signs. This place is just fine, but overpriced and staff a bit rude.

I love this nail salon. Come here every summer for a relaxing pedicure and leg and foot massage. They have tons of colors and a nice choice of brands including my two faves - OPI and Essie.Yesterday I forgot to make an appointment and had to wait 45 minutes. They had a comfy place to wait, and in 40 minutes I was in my massage chair meeting my tech. I like that. She used all kinds of lotions and exfoliants, hot rocks and towels. Luxury and relaxation - just what I love on vacation. While my toes were drying she gave me a neck and shoulder massage.What a perfect way to spend some time on a rainy day.Thanks Star Nails! I love getting my manicures and pedicures here! The staff always knows me by name and are all so kind. They are very attentive to excellent customer service, provide many nail services and are very clean and welcoming.

I love this salon for mani/pedi. They always offer something extra. Great service, great marketing, clean as a whistle.

I have been to this location 3-4 times. I have good experiences with the first 3 but just 2 days ago I had a pedicure and the girl was a bit haphazard and too quick with treatment . I felt my feet burning when they were wrapped and in water. I asked her and she did not make a big deal about it. I pointed out some areas of concern and she casually said “oh it must be the callous remover liquid” “sorry” Well I now have chemical burns on the top of both feet that are very painful and look horrible. I was very disappointed and am now in pain.

The service is outstanding, the atmosphere is clean and very inviting! My pedicure was fabulous, and my 10 minute chair massage was just what I needed! Thank you Star Nails!!!

I dont understand all the bad reviews. I love this place. I used to go faithfully every two weeks, but finances havent allowed that these past few months. However, when I do go, I make an appointment with the same nail tech (Janice), so never have to wait. Thats the key. They get super busy, so if you walk in looking for a gel, or fill, or something other than a regular manicure, you can expect to wait because they are so busy. I recommend making an appointment. In the past several years, Ive had, maybe one or two techs I really didnt like...so, unless Im in a super rush, or its a last minute thing, I make an appointment with Janice. Shes very sweet, and very meticulous ... Ive never had an issue with her. And the prices are extremely reasonable.

Two different women were working on each hand at the same time, when I asked for both hands to be done by the same person, they refused (they were rushing to finish my nails)even though I came in 2 hours before closing time by appointment (which is more then enough time to take your time and do a great job. One hand came out better then the other. They are very rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. When I called to check price for full set, I was told a cheaper price from when I arrived, and was charged $70 for a terrible job. I will not be returning, this is by far the worst nail shop in RI

Manicure and pedicures are for men also. Reasonable prices, appointments are recommended. I signed in and walked around the mall for an hour. Seems to be the theme in Newport nails shops.

Clean, efficient, thorough! But not friendly in the least, which I guess isnt a qualification for a 5th star but they dont need to be ice cold toward customers.I had trouble believing that the man who did my grandmas nails spoke literally zero English words! I guess Ill pick up a Rosetta Stone for the Korean language so next time wont be as difficult.

Ive been going to Star Nails for years for pedicures. Always great! Ive gone to other places and always compare them to Star. I especially like the foot massage before the polish goes on and the neck massage while drying.

The worst place I’ve ever gone. The staff and experience were nice but (and I’ve been getting acrylics for 20 years) now it’s only 5 days later and the acrylic is horribly chipped on several nails and they shouldn’t even be ready for a fill yet! I wish I could post a picture. I’ll never go here again

Ive been in this place multiple times and the people are so rude. Ive heard it from other customers as well. Not only that, Ive never been all that happy with the way they do nails. My mom swears she got a type of fungus on her nail after getting her nails done there too. Try Glam nails down the street. They do a great job there.

The staff was very kind and caring with my elderly father. I had a sore toe from surgery and it finally healed enough to work on the hangnail. He did an awesome job!

Won’t go back. They rush and do bad paint jobs for manicures. Today one day after the service my daughters nails are chipped off the top, she said the guy who did her nails put one coat on. I got a French manicure and the lady who did mine smeared the Essie top coat on, while the nails were wet and rubbed the French white tips into the rest of the nail. Mine are also chipped today it has not even been 24 hours since I got the manicure. Wish I could get my money back. I let the nail tech know I was not pleased with the service there. She rushed off to the next client in line.

This place is 100% Awful. Words cant explain how rude they are to their customers. I requested gel fill. Told me 10 minutes and 30 minutes went by. Another customer walked in asking for gel fill the same thing I have been waiting for to get done.They say here down right away. I flipped out. This place is horrible and over priced.

Wow, my second pedicure ever. I asked to have it done similar to the picture I had shown her. She shook her head and said they cant do that. That they dont do designs there. WTF???? I thought thats what nail salons did.?..? It ended up not looking prettty at all and she said she was charging me an extra 5 bucks for the sparkles but all she did was put on glitter nail polish. and it didnt even look good.... I am not happy. Shedidnt seem to like her job very much either.....

Came in for a pedicure, they said it would be a 10 minute wait. 5 minutes later they sat me to soak my feet and apparently forgot about me. 30 minutes later I got up and walked out.
