H is wonderful! Never steers us wrong. He is fair and honest.

I’ll start by saying I like to repair my own vehicles when I believe I am able and sometimes it doesn’t work out. This was one of those times. I snapped a bolt off and tried to drill and tap it myself. When that also didn’t work out I took it to Hiram and explained myself, we had a little laugh on what I had done but he was respectful. Hiram fixed it at a reasonable fee and even gave me advice for a future repair I am attempting. He even offered to help get a typically stubborn bolt loose before I started the project. I will come back to Hiram for future advice and repairs. Though they work on all vehicles, they know Subarus very well. Pay with cash if possible as smaller shops like this get charged a ton to run credit cards!

Just looked in here cuz my mechanic is 12 miles away and I was over heating. Zapata told me over the phone that he would charge 120.00 to diagnose and he felt that Buicks like mine usually need head gaskets for 1500.00. overwhelmed I took back to J&M car repair shop where diagnosis took 2 minutes and I was on the road in two hours with a new radiator for 330.00 thankyou jeiser!

Im sad to say I cannot give Zapata Auto a good review. I called last week Thursday. He asked me if I could wait until this week Wednesday to have it towed in cause there isnt a lot of parking there. I called yesterday Wed and left 2 voice messages. I didnt want to tow it over without speaking to him first in case he forgot. No response, all day. I called this morning Thursday and told him our conversation and he said he would have someone call me back. I spoke with someone who told me I spoke to the owner and he has since left on vacation and wont be back until next week. I told him about the conversation and he apologized and said he was working on cars and really didnt know if he could get to mine until the owner came back. I told him I specially waited for them because they were recommend and it had been a whole week now and I could of had it fixed already. Again he apologized, but thats not gonna get my car fixed. If he is that short staffed then he needs to hire more men or women to help him. I am very, very disappointed in their service. They just should have said they didnt have enough mechanics from the start. Im sorry but I do NOT RECOMMEND this repair shop.

Had to take my boyfriends car up to get a tire patched. Hed been to Zapata before and really liked them. Not only did she patch the tire, she checked all of the tired and made sure the air pressure was correct. When I asked about the bill, she told me not to worry about it.This is how businesses get loyal customers. Theyve earned three new customers in addition to my boyfriend already being one. We will be back!

Hiram, Koua, and the rest of the crew at Zapata were fantastic. They quoted me a very reasonable price to have my alternator replaced. Whats more, I arrived a little after 3PM, two hours before close, and Hiram and co. had me out the garage door within an hour. It is clear to me from the many online reviews and my own positive experience that these guys manage their shop right, with the customer coming first. Theyve got my future business for sure. Plus, Porfirio!

Very poor service. They are a rip off. I took my car with an air conditioner problem to them. The owner said I will check the gas in the AC. He charged me $69.00 and didnt fix the AC. He told me that he will diagnose the problem some other time. I called him after few days. He said that he has to run a diagnostic but will charge me for his time even if he couldnt solve the problem. I had a discussion with him. He become angry and return my money which he had charged. In the evening I opened YouTube to find the solution. It was very simple. The rely on the air conditioner was not working. I changed the relay myself. I took it to a shop they charged me 25 dollars to put gas in it. My air conditioner is running very fine after that. As per my experience with these guys I will advise everyone not to go to them, for any car work. They are complete RIP OFFS.

I found zapata through a recommendation. I dont think I could find a friendlier or more fair auto repair shop. I would recommend to my mother.- 2015I hadnt been to Zapata since 2015. Hiram blew my mind again by taking the time to rule out every possible issue with my car, called me twice to let me know what was going on and how long he thought it might be, and then I got the bill.A transmission problem and a battery problem fixed for about $250? Two of the local transmission repair favorites told me over the phone that I need a new transmission. Neither had seen my car, only listened to a two sentence description and came to that conclusion.It was fast. It was more than fairly priced. He talked me through everything he found, not just listing things off, rather, in a way I would understand.Back in 2015 I said I would recommend it to my mother. Nothing has changed since then.

I stumbled across Zapata Auto when my alternator went out and I needed to take my car to the closest place. Little did I know I had discovered, truly, the most honest car people in Madison. I recently had a subsequent repair done for under HALF of what 2 other highly reviewed Madison auto places quoted me at. What Zapata charged me was an extremely fair price, without inflated costs for labor and the part (I was charged at retail.) It was extremely easy to make an appointment and the repair was completed in a timely manner. If you need car repairs or services, please give Hiram and Kelly a call. They are good people only looking for fair business, not to rip you off. Thank you so much! There are still honest people out there!

One belt had fallen off while I was driving on the highway and 3 other belts needed replacing. Total cost to me was a little less than $153 for the 4 belts and the labor.I highly recommend them.

I went to these guys in a panic after my check engine light came on and my car was stalling last winter. They ran diagnostics and told me it was likely cold related and didnt charge me a dime even tho they were really busy. Ive gone to them ever since and have always had a good experience. Theyre affordable and know what theyre doing.

The owner, Hiram, is super friendly and honest. He was able to find some used parts for me (a coil for my engine) and charged me 1/2 of what a dealership would charge for a ball bearing that badly needed to be replaced. I drove away amazed about how nice my car is!! I have a scion xb with 210,000 miles on it and I trust that Hiram will get me to 300,000 or more. Great mechanic - I would definitely recommend this shop for both quality of work an customer service.

Very friendly and helpful. The place was a little hard to find, but that was on us. They managed to squeeze us in last minute and still managed to get everything done without taking too long. Will definitely be coming back.

I highly recommend this place. You can trust Hiram. I took my old car to a chain auto repair store first. Their repair estimate was more than the price of my car. Hiram charged me about 1/4th of the other repair shops estimate and got the job done!
