First: if you go, read the dang signs. If the sign says DONT TOUCH THE PUPPIES IT COULD MAKE THEM SICK, then for the love of dog, keep your dang fingers away from the puppies!!! 😠 That and not opening the door when the inner gate is open (and vice versa!) The rules are for the dogs safety, mmk? That being said, this place is a wonderful adoption place where you can play with (the adoptable, older) dogs for a bit while you make your decision. They have many many lovely and lively little guys (and some sleepy ones) up for adoption and they all seemed in good health and well taken care of. Did the volunteers or workers greet us and chat when we came in? No, I dont think they did but it really doesnt matter its not a high end boutique- they were knee deep in dogs, and trying to keep dogs from escaping, and cleaning up, and finding homes for puppers, for Petes sake! They were nice when questions were asked and thanked us for visiting (basically, they arent rude just hella busy). Also, if you go, consider one of the many many sweet older dogs... there were a lot of puppies getting homes and a lot of older ones sitting there with sad faces cause they have so much love to give πŸ˜” Im a county away but considering going back for a certain dachshund mix .. but if he gets a home before I get back, bless him. Parking is around and all over but worth a visit!

This place sweeps up strays from the streets of Mexico and peddles them for high cost and ask homeless disabled vets to foster them and then will not take them back. Avoid this scam at all cost

Even tho the store on Fairfax closed, they are still hard at work protecting and saving dogs. I just adopted my rescue from them, and the process couldn’t have been smoother, even with a few steps to go thru. Quick to respond, eager to help, and they found a great, loving foster home for him before I could adopt. I would absolutely recommend them to find your new pup, help by fostering, or to support their work charitably. Thanks for Hank! ❀️

This adoption center has saved over 7000 dogs over the years. They have a real soft spot for pits, so they are great for pits if youre looking. Also recently found out that kids required to do community service were allowed to do hours at this adoption center. Saw that some of them stayed on after their hours were up and even became very techs. This is a really great organization doing great things for dogs in LA. If every shelter had an adoption center like this working with it, so many more dogs could be saved.

I LOVE THIS PLACE...... They are super cool and really nice. I only go here for my dogs and cat food. I also learned a lot about the food I feed my animals (were its made and what is in it). Also they have a good selection to chose from.So if your like me and want to feed your animals food that is good for them but dont want to spend all the money you have this is the place. But if you want to buy a $75 bad of dog food they got that too.

Where I will never return I thought that to adopt a puppy, language would not matter but surprise is the first place that asks me to speak English to adopt a puppy. I was just looking for a puppy for my son who needs it because he has autism and the doctor recommended it I was willing to pay everything they were asking me for $ 195 + $ 175 that you have to buy at the store but when the person in charge of it said that I had to speak English it was somewhat uncomfortable as a racist in any other business I was asked to speak English to buy but anyway I wish you good luckYes, it was what I wanted to imagine at the beginning that it was due to lack of language. But when we got a person to translate us, you told us that we had to wait more than 20 minutes to be treated even though the application was already complete. It seems a bit out of place but in the end I wish you the best and thanks but the quality of the people shows and I do not like to return to where they feel bad people

I would Foster dogs there after going there to chill out and get some love. I could spend hours there. It’s a really busy place and a lot to keep up with all the dogs, their needs, their business plus dealing with all the people that come in looking for a dog. It’s not easy managing all of that. They do a great job. I adopted one of my fosters and it’s the most amazing dog. I’ve also helped friends get their dogs from there.Having the dogs roam free is a great attraction.Yes, there was an unfortunate incident recently and the owner was devastated by it.She immediately rectified it. Some are so quick to say, shut it down, but b n b does so much good for so many dogs. They’ve been in business for many years for good reasons. They saved thousands and thousands of dogs, that would have been killed. To demand the shop be closed is just wrong and upsetting to read. I’m not the only one who has gone in there to connect with the dogs and feel good. There are so many people that go just to hang out and get and give some love, that b n b offers.Shannon is great, very caring and responsible. Thanks for all you do!!

I feel we were stereotyped and met with significant resistance and in all intent and purpose basically not allowed inside. I tried walking in with my two older nephews as I was looking for a rescue for my mother. I reached for the door and the employee at the door promptly formed the impression we weren’t welcomed. She responded In an unwelcoming tone : β€œah, yea, we are reaching full capacity.....eh, you know this is a rescue for animals...” and the while leaving the door locked. I replied: β€œyes, why else would we be here?” She replied: β€œwell, we are at capacity”. As we left she let a White couple enter. I then popped my head back in and asked: β€œI thought you were at capacity?” So if you don’t fit a particular mold be ready to get discriminated. Just look at the 1 star reviews. I discovered afterward

I came in with my husband about a year ago and we met this dog that I really liked and took him for a walk and he had some pretty serious psych issues with being on a harness... I wasn’t nearly as concerned as my husband was and we started the adoption process. We had to wait a long time to get someone’s attention to start the process... something like 30 minutes, which seemed excessive. We started the process by presenting something like $450 for the adoption fee (not a nonprofit... they’re a β€œhumane pet shop” so I understand... but just go to the shelter, really) and we understood that this was to cover medical expenses. But here’s the thing β€” they couldn’t find the medical records. They didn’t even know when he had been neutered or if he’d even had some basic vaccinations, including kennel cough. The owner got involved and started hunting for the medical records and presented us with some information about the shelter the dog had come from, but still no actual proof of vaccinations or date he was neutered. We were more or less told β€œtake it or leave it” and we left it.I’m sure that I will see a response to this with some sharp response as to why I’m wrong or how I don’t understand some part of the process. Read these reviews. Every five star review has heaps of praise and then the one star reviews tell people they are wrong or stupid. It’s very telling about how they run their business. I don’t doubt the passion of the people who work there, but I think organization, transparency and ownership of their actions are sorely lacking. I feel that if this place closed, it would be to the benefit of pets and their caretakers.Update 2/25/2020 just drove by and they have β€œstore closing” signs up. Good riddance.Update 8/16/2021 as predicted, I received a sharp response from the owner, not accepting any sort of mismanagement or poor service, but instead gaslighting and making me to be the one who doesn’t understand their process or the good work they do. Los Angeles County is officially no-kill now. I still strongly urge people who are considering adopting from this organization to go to their nearest county-run shelter. They do good work and take good care of their animals. I remember there used to be this β€œvintage” shop that was located right across from the St Vincent de Paul in Lincoln Heights. They went to SVdP every morning and bought all of the really good, desirable furniture at a discount and then marked it way up to sell in their shop. This organization is the same. They just find the most desirable (looking) dogs at shelters and charge you a much larger adoption fee than you would normally pay. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

This place claims to be non-profit rescue but on top of their adoption fee of $595, they REQUIRE you to pay at least $175 in their shop to prepare for your puppy... When I questioned their front desk why they require you spend $175 in THEIR STORE, they said to cover vet fees even though their adoption form says to keep running their non-profit rescue.. Which makes no sense since the $595 is supposed to cover vet fees as well. Crazy how other shelters in the area charge 1/4 of that adoption price and dont require you to spend the extra cash to prepare for your puppy or fund their shelter. Even those shelters give you coupons to help you get prepared. I would know, Ive adopted already. Its preposterous. Its unfortunate too because they have dogs in need and theyre trying to make money off of that.

Cute but a lot of dog fighting and very unorganized in general. Had a dog ripped from my arms and was yelled at my a worker for praising the dog when I was literally pulling a dog off of the others neck. The energy was very hectic I would not be surprised if a fight ended with a dog needing emergency help or death.

Customer service was really bad. Employees were arguing with each other in front of customers making the experience uncomfortable. I think the set up should be different. It just seemed way too chaotic, and really I can not stress enough, really uncomfortable. I wanted to leave the store so many times. I do not think Ill be back, I hope the dogs get a good home.

Volunteers aren’t properly trained. I was asked to come back at 10am to see a dog (before the store opened because I had mtgs during the day) and I arrive and someone who works here told me that the woman who asked me to come in early was a volunteer, I couldn’t see the dog, and they were busy cleaning and feeding right now. I live in Playa Vista, so if I had come all the way from Playa Vista here only to have this happen (vs happening to be in Hollywood in the AM) I would have been more upset than I am. However, all volunteers should be properly trained and there shouldn’t be a lack of understanding or evident misinformation. Definitely makes me want to adopt from a shelter that is a bit more organized.
