1. Showed up with incorrect measurements for pool layout2. Did not check brick delivery for patio area even after being notified it was incorrect causing a nearly two week delay3. Ordered and installed the wrong color gunite which had to be jackhammered out and reinstalled after being allowed to cure for 30 days4. Built a retaining wall too low resulting in the newly completed pool being fully engulfed in mud with the first rainfall. Pool had to be drained and cleaned. He refused to replace the new pump filters choosing only to hose out the mud.5. Claimed a puddle of water beside the pool was spring water that may or may not dry up. I dug into the puddle myself and found a cut pipe. I was told it was a type of pipe no longer used and that he capped it off. I investigated further to discover it was the drain pipe to the fully functional sump pump located under our house. He did agree to uncap and reroute the pipe.6. There was another puddle of water at the foot of the pool. Again I was told Spring water. He sent a crew out to fix it that first just wanted to dump a bag of cement under the sod, but later agreed to run the french drain they had installed out to the flower beds. I hoped this might have been the solution for my now swampy backyard. It was not. After receiving consecutive water bills of $250 and $350 over two months time my suspicions of a leak proved correct when the sod around the pump literally lifted up off the ground and a river of water that had been gushing underground next to the foundation of my house revealing a broken pipe which Morehead had installed....not spring water. When confronted with this, I was told how did they know I hadnt run over it with a mower. The fact that it was a foot and a half underground might have given them a clue but no.7. Alan Methaney, head of construction at Morehead, is a perpetual liar that never apologizes for or takes any responsibility for his mistakes.

I just read a review by a clearly disgruntled customer of Morehead pools and was shocked to see it. My wife and I decided to build a pool last year and did extensive research on the pool builders in the area. We looked through all of the available finishes for them (fiberglass, liner and gunite) and decided on the latter. Once we made the decision to go with gunite, we checked references in a range of different time frames for the builders in the Little Rock market and found that consistently, Morehead pools had the happiest customers at all time intervals. I was particularly happy with the pool warranty offered by Morehead; they are the only builders in central Arkansas who offered a lifetime warranty on the shell of the pool. We were looking at total cost of ownership when discussing building a pool and that was a BIG plus in their favor.Working with Alan and Jared on the design for the pool was a painless process for us, though Im sure that with all of the little changes during the design phase, they might think differently. Where the other builders tried to sway us toward their designs/layouts, they worked with us and made our design come true. One of the things I was most impressed with was their commitment to getting the project right and to customer service. They made some changes to the height of the wall outside the outdoor living area, for example, at his expense because the initial design which looked good on the CAD drawing but just didnt sit right with him once he saw the actual product. The result was far superior to the original drawing and exceeded our expectations.Like I said in the beginning, I was shocked to see that anyone would have had a bad experience with these guys, particularly about the build of their wall. I would love to find out what they did to fix it.If I had to make one suggestion to anyone looking to build a pool with any company, it would be to give 6 to 8 weeks more time than you figure it will take to build. Last year was one of the worst on record for pool builders due to the excessive rain we had through the beginning of August and it took a long time to get the project completed. That was not the fault of the builder, but just another typically atypical weather year in Arkansas. Having said that, we gave a hard target date of July 4 to have a full pool for a reunion we have every year and against the rain and the odds, they delivered!Ill try to figure out how to post pictures of our pool project and hope that anyone reading finds this review helpful. Thanks Alan, Jared and Shelly for a wonderful job on our pool!!
