I highly recommend Desert Root. Tara did a great job with the design of our backyard. Tara was very responsive and the design process was well thought out. She listened to what features were most important to us as well as how our family would use the backyard and incorporated it into the design. Tony and his crew did an excellent job, we appreciate the work they did! Overall the experience could not have been smoother.

I wish I could give 10 stars. Stop looking and hire Tara and her team. Everything they do is amazing. Customer Service, quality of work, etc far exceeded my expectations.We knew we couldn’t afford to do everything we wanted for our backyard. Tara worked with us on the best places to put our money and get our quote down to a reasonable price.Day one of work, she introduced us to everyone on her crew and they were all knowledgeable and super easy to work with.We made a few changes to design while they were working and they were super flexible with trying not to increase the cost of the project.Final day of work, we did a full walkthrough to make sure we were happy and everything was perfect before we paid final amount.I’ve had very bad luck with contractors in the past. I just wish the rest of my house looked as good as my backyard does now.Thank you!!!!

Tara was respectful about us changing our minds a thousand times even when it meant the quote dropped significantly when we decided to not do certain things we originally planned. Tara came out for an estimate, we went over what I wanted to have done, and she took measurements. I reached out for an update on my estimate two weeks later and never received a response. It’s been over a month now and I still haven’t heard back. They seem like they do good work, which is why I contacted them to begin with, but I guess they didn’t need my business.

This review came out a bit late as we were settling in our new house. But I hope its at the right time. Started to search for a good landscape company for our new home and we fortunately found Desert Root.Tara - was so convenient in getting the designs out even though we had multiple alterations and discussion in getting things with in our budget. She was patient enough and passionate about what she is doing. Listening to her customers need and constraints , then design the backyard accordingly including the material without compromising the quality of it. She gives you multiple options to pick , so you wont end up loosing your desired design.Tony : He is a super human being and very thoughtful in any suggestions and implement the exact design given by Tara. He is so humble and explains very bit of the irrigation or if any alterations needed in your design. When there was an irrigation issue , he came immediately to the spot and listen to the issue and addressed it by himself. His suggestion towards WiFi irrigation system is very useful. He is assisting us if we counter any issues while using it.I very much impressed with this team esp Kage and his teammates are so hard working and perfectly finished the work on the time they promised. They will handover the backyard completely cleaned and shelved the left overs wherever you want them to. They also told me the plants they have given and the all the materials are covered for a year time.We are so much impressed with this team and also planned to go with them for Phase 2 of my backyard as well.I will surely recommend Desert root to my friends.

My wife and I reached out to The Desert Root to redo our entire front yard. We had grass, a tile walkway and patio, an old dead tree, and some irrigation problems.Tara came out to get our information. She told us that they would be able to take care of everything for us. About a week later, she had a design ready and we were ready to move forward.Tara submitted the documents to our HOA for their approval, scheduled the demo crew and the team completed our front yard in one week! Everything is exactly as we wanted. The crew walked through everything with us when they were done to make sure it was exactly as we wanted.I would recommend The Desert Root to anyone who wants a high-quality landscape design and installation.

I have the highest praise for this company. They were chosen by the Management Company of my rental and Im so happy they did.All of the crew were cordial, clean and friendly. When I explained some preferences for the job, they listened, answered any questions and explained what they were doing.Once they finished the job, they cleaned everything so well, you couldnt even tell they had done a big job, including blowing off all the debris from my porch that wasnt even a part of the work area. I have to tell you how thoroughly pleased I was with the work of The Desert Root. I was replacing the original plantings, irrigation and lighting of my home. Tara was great in incorporating some of my ideas into the plan while adding her own considerable expertise. She came up with a great plan. Tony and his crew friendly, skillful and thorough. They installed the new landscaping, irrigation and lights with careful attention to detail and completely cleaned the area when done. It was way beyond my expectations. When one of the lights malfunctioned they were here within 24 hours to fix it. Overall it was a great experience. I recommend them highly.

Desert Root came highly recommended by a neighbor and they did not disappoint. We initially hired them to add additional landscaping to our back yard; we were so happy with the results we hired them again a few months later to add some much-needed curb appeal to our front yard. Both times Tara listened to our ideas and provided a great design plan. I am so pleased and impressed with the work The Desert Root provided for my landscaping needs. I wanted a complete new design and low maintenance for my backyard. From my first meeting with Tara she was very knowledgeable and helpful in designing a plan that exceeded my expectations. During the whole installation process, Tara, Tony, Gaige and David were very professional and went over and beyond what was expected. When the job was finished, Tony was so helpful in explaining the drip system and even made a schedule for me to follow. I love my new back yard and strongly recommend this company. Tara and the entire crew are excellent. Their support is top notch after the work is done. I faced a few niggling issues after my backyard was done as one would expect and Tara was always patient in answering my queries and also send support folks as soon as it was needed. Atlast my search for a reliable landscaper is over as I know I can rely on Desert Root for my future landscaping needs which will continue :-) .

I started working with Tara on ideas for our new homes backyard landscaping in April or May 2020. I have absolutely no knack for design and was also totally unsure of what we even wanted. We also did not have an unlimited budget. Tara was so professional and PATIENT. I was probably super annoying, changed the design and my mind about 20 times, and yet she still called me, spent time creating great pictures of what we wanted, and always answered emails. Tara and her team were very conscious of my time (which is a huge pet peeve of mine when my time is not valued and respected) - I so appreciate them for that!! Also, they finished the work in about two days, and I couldnt be happier. This week has been an average of 116-118 degrees by mid-morning and they were out there working (and sweating!) their butts off. They are so appreciated!! They were professional, courteous, prompt, funny, patient, and kind. I enjoyed working with Tara and her crew and will be recommending them to anyone we meet in Phoenix as well as using them for any future projects we may have. I cannot thank this team enough for how amazing they are and how much we love our beautiful turf yard and design. With absolutely no knowledge of landscaping, dealing with 3 companies with broken promises and none of them coming thru with anything (I won’t mention their names), I called up The Desert Root. I was greeted by Tara on the phone and from the gate was absolutely professional and helpful. I sent her photos of what I had envisioned and she just spruced it up from there, she even educated me on certain plants. Work date was scheduled and a team of four showed up,Tony, Gaige, Ryan, David. These guys under horrendous temperatures did the demo and was coming back the next morning. Needed some serious work done in our front yard, so I contacted The Desert Root after doing a quick search for local landscaping. Very polite over the phone. The crew got right to work, kept a clean work area, and were polite to speak with. They removed several shrubs, and a dying tree. After clean up, it looked like nothing was ever in the yard. The crew did an outstanding job.

The Desert Root team did an excellent job in managing our backyard pool and landscape update this spring and have continued to be available for questions and concerns as they arise. From micro-climate identification through the final plant in place, no detail was left unattended. I recently reached out to The Desert Root to review some options to give my small side yard in Gilbert a reboot. I had pavers on my deck previously and it was just way too hot for my 3 pups so I wanted to explore some different options. After several discussions with Tara we went with replacing the pavered patio with shellstone pavers and adding 3 trellises with colorful flowered climbing vines and 2 vertical garden shelves to add herbs or succulents. Tara was great in giving me some great options and recommendations. We scheduled the work for the upcoming week and the crew got started on my yard make-over. Right before the install I received confirmation from my HOA that they had approved my request to repurpose my deck pavers with a new pavered walkway from the backyard to my driveway. I let Tara know about the walkway and she had the crew add that last minute change to the current work they were starting on the yard. The complete install took about 3 days and the final results are beautiful. The crew were all so nice and very meticulous in handling the sloping deck and walkway. They really did a wonderful job! Tara was always responsive to my myriad of questions (and I had many) and she really made the entire process a very smooth and stress-free experience. I also felt their prices were reasonable since they worked within my provided budget. I’d highly recommend DR to friends and for future projects. I hired them to xeriscape my front yard and add pavers in my side yard to make life a little easier. They were amazing start to finish! Worked with my HoA on my behalf, filled the design application, worked with me to get exactly what we wanted, and left me with a beautiful yard. Cant recommend them enough!

Tara and Tony did such a great job with our back yard. They were efficient, kept a clean working area, and everything turned out beautifully. They did some really cool things as well, like planted a garden underneath a sunken trampoline. We have stairs that go down underground below the trampoline and there is an amazing garden under there. You can sit below it and have your kids jumping above you. Its crazy! Also, they set up all the irrigation and got everything working to be controlled by an easy app on my phone. Great service and a great job by Desert Root!

The Desert Root helped my husband and I with our backyard sod removal and drip-line installation for our deserts-cape plan about two weeks ago.From the first time they came to our house for the initial quote, I was so impressed by their work ethic and professionalism. They sent us a very artistic quote within a day and we scheduled for them to come out to to work within a week. This timeliness was very important because we had scheduled for trees to be installed in about 2 weeks and needed the drip-lines before we got them.Removing the sod and installing the drip-lines took about 7 hours. Our sod was really a mess with the hard and clay-like ground underneath but the team was very diligent about working until all of the roots were out and the remaining ground was level. When they installed the drip-lines they created a full loop around the backyard and installed two lines: one for bushes/agave/cacti and one for trees. The work was exquisite! They spray-painted the lines for bushes/agave/cacti white for us to distinguish between the two easily. They also used a thicker line so that they would last longer without upkeep and gave us a few heads to use that sprayed the water out circularly to properly water new trees.My husband and I were so pleased with their work that we started communicating with them about a few other jobs: installing a small turf patch and some pavers in the frontyard. They created 3d designs with me on the phone and are bringing out samples soon. Just fabulous work!I whole-heartedly recommend The Desert Root to anyone who wants sublime work from a professional team. We are so excited to work with them for all of our future projects.
