The work was masterful and quick. I had a beat up strat that buzzed and couldnt hold tune. Kurt worked his magic and the next day the old strat was ready to be picked up. This guitar has probably never sounded better! If you are on his side of town and you need someone to care for your instruments, theres no better place!

I recently purchased a new bass and could tell that it needed a good set up. I contact Kurt that evening and was about able to meet with him the next day. When We met he gave the bass a thorough inspection and walked me through the work that needed to be done. He also suggested that the bass be shielded to eliminate a really bad buzz. He was upfront about what NEEDED immediate attention vs. what he simply recommended. I ended going with all of his recommendations, but appreciated the fact that he didn’t try to up sell me on unnecessary repairs. I also love the fact that he was able to complete the work in a couple of days. The sound and feel are A+++ and the buzz is now non existent . Kurt is knowledge, courteous, professional and very good at what he does. He’s gained a customer for life in my and I would recommend him to anyone!

Kurt is unbelievably patient and knowledgeable. I have been taking lessons for a couple of months now and have progressed quickly. He was able to identify the gaps in playing and is helping to fill in the areas I need help. I had him tune up my 30+ year old guitar. It has never played this well, it was like having a brand new guitar. I was ready to buy a new one, and am holding off, I cant believe its the same guitar. I would highly recommend and have gladly done so.

I have an old decca guitar. 2 of the guitar pegs had missing tuning pegs. Hard to find tuning pegs for this decca guitar and i Could not find the tuning pegs. I searched all over phoenix /casa grande az and none of the guitar shops had these tuning pegs for my guitar. I decided to call kurt mayo which was on the last list on the internent website. I got to speak to Kurt about if he sold any tuning pegs for a decca guitar. I went to his guitar shop. And he had the tuning pegs for the decca guitar that was similar to the same as the old tuning pegs for my decca guitar. The tuning pegs fitted perfectly and made the decca guitar stand fit back to working condition. Very knowledgeble, I will come back if needed. And I recommend his guitar shop for your guitar needs.

I am very new to guitar and just recently purchased an acoustic/electric secondhand. I thought it had an issue with the pickup so I brought it in to Kurt. Its obvious he has a treasure trove of experience. The work he did was fantastic and came at a reasonable price. However, I think most importantly he taught me about my guitar and what to look for should I have problems in the future. Cant recommend him enough!

Kurt is an absolute professional with an amazing background. He took my vintage Goya G10 from unplayable to a dream. Most importantly he was able to explain my issues and what it would take to fix in a manner that I could understand and his attention to detail was amazing.. His workshop is set up with an amazing array of tools and parts. I like that he is independent and works for you not a large store. Definitely a great find!!!

I recently had Kurt do a complete set up on a new Yamaha LL-TA acoustic guitar because I wanted to realize the full potential of the instrument. I am very pleased with the entire experience. I am taking classes with Kurt for several months now. Im a 30 y.o. beginner-intermediate guitarist who decided to learn bass. I am VERY happy with my weekly lessons so far. Kurts approach is very systematic and each lesson is built on previous one in a step by step manner. He is very to the point when handing out his weekly assignment and is on top of the material at the beginning of each class. He is perceptive and extremely good at troubleshooting and pointing out my errors not just in playing, but in how he perceives Im taking in the information he gives me.He taught me music theory that practically applies to playing bass in a way that was very easy to understand and now makes the structure of music of many popular genres extremely clear. I went from knowing how to just hold the bass to now coming up with bass lines in various styles of music to Kurts guitar jams. It feels great.I plant to continue taking the lessons in bass, and when feel comfortable with that instrument, switch back to guitar to improve my skills in that too. As a self taught guitarist I am grateful for learning bass now with the instruction of a bright and experienced educator that Kurt Mayo is.I would sincerely HIGHLY recommend Mr. Mayo to anyone who wants to take effective and at the same time fun lessons in either guitar or bass.

I have used Kurt of Mayo music for instrument repairs. My parents had passed and left a Mandolin and a Banjo/Uke in the shed of their Florida home. As you could imagine with the Humidity of Florida combined with the length of time the instruments had been subjected to this weather my expectations were not that high. The instruments had cracks, warping and severe fading.Kurt worked on these repairs for quite sometime due to the extent of these repairs. I was just hoping to get the instruments to a presentable standard so we could keep them as displays. Not only did Mayo Music exceed my expectations but restored both instruments to playing condition.Mayo music is now located in Arizona within 10 mes of my home so both my daughter and I will be taking lessons from Kurt on these same instruments.Thank you Kurt for your dedication and applied expertise in repairing these instruments.
