I decided to book an appointment with Michelle after we had such a good experience at my daughters haircut. She provided a consult based on my concerns about the health and appearance of my hair and Dominic at the front desk created a quote for the services and booked the appointment. Michelle got me right into the chair once I arrived and confirmed the goals and plan for coloring and applying a treatment. I am so pleased with the outcome. Michelle took before and after pictures and the condition and style is very noticeably improved. I am able to recreate the style at home with very little effort or product. Everyone I encountered there is friendly and professional. Excellent experience all around.

I haven’t had my hair cut in over a year (except for my own quick & dirty trim at home). I’m moving soon, and wanted to fix the mess of my mane up, and reached out to Calla for a consultation. The date of my travel moved up, by a month, and Calla was so understanding and she personally let me know of a cancellation so she could get me in sooner.Even though I trusted her abilities fully, Calla included me in the the cutting process by checking in with me, something that I truly appreciated since I hadn’t had my hair done by her before.You can tell that Calla is very adept at what she does, and uses her expertise to collaborate with her clients to make sure they love her work and leave her chair feeling great. I got bangs for the first time since high school, and was so nervous to get them from a hairdresser I hadn’t been to before. (They turned out amazingly).Those with social anxiety: with Calla (and I’m sure others at Avant Garde) there won’t be crying in the car because you were too scared to say something to your hairdresser in the moment. They care!

I have seen Kyle for massages for a few years now. He is the best! The owners of Avant Garde are wonderful and you will probably talk to Donovan as some point to schedule or change appointments. He is a joy to talk to. I can’t say enough good things about the salon, atmosphere, or the people there.

BEWARE! 20 years of blonde highlights and I have never before received orange hair. 3 appointments. So multiple hours of my time, $350 dollars. And I ended up going to a completely different salon to get it done correctly. Worst experience I have been through with my hair. Will never go back.

I love this place I love the people!! Walking though the door makes me extremely happy and puts a smile on my face. All the amenities are amazing and Leigh Ann is the best! Kyle has magical hands! The massages and manicures are so amazing!

The stylists are great, and I always leave looking nice, but I never end up with what I ask for. For example, the last time I was in, I showed the stylist an image of exactly what I was looking for, which she said was doable, but I was given a 3 or 4 inch darker root vs the 1-inch root in the photos.Unfortunately I can’t justify spending a couple hundred dollars on my hair every couple months to keep getting something different from what I ask for.

Being a new mom during Covid, I haven’t spent any time for myself. My hair has been literally falling out postpartum. Mario spoiled me! I have never felt more beautiful! In addition to color and cut he also gave me hair/scalp treatments. And his styling was on point!! He was also able to recommend amazing products to encourage hair growth. I love Avant-Garde Salon and first starting coming here because of Calla. Calla is a true artist with hair and the way that she finds the exact color match for you is incredible. She does my roots every month and gets the color so perfect that I don’t have to dye my entire head of hair at every appointment, thus keeping my hair as healthy as possible. She is also very talented with cuts and blow dry styling. More than anything, she is caring and attentive to her clients’ needs. I also go to see Kyle for a monthly massage and he is very professional yet incredibly compassionate towards his clients, always making them feel comfortable and cared for. I love everyone at Avant-Garde and will continue to be a loyal patron. They are kind, efficient, caring towards each client, and also keep things very safe during the pandemic.

Ive been going to Avant Garde for several years. Michael and Rob run an excellent business and are always kind and courteous (along with the rest of the staff). I always feel relaxed and welcomed. LeighAnn takes care of my hair services and Ive always had a good experience. She listens to what I am requesting, provides suggestions and in the end, does what I would like. Shes great fun and I imagine, she enjoys what she does. She is an excellent stylist and takes her time with my appointments.

I scheduled an appointment for an intricate cut and color with them the day before my birthday. They scheduled me with a new hairstylist (without letting me know beforehand) that had no idea what she was doing. She kept asking for help from other stylists, and the stuff she did do was subpar. I was panicking my entire cut and color because I could tell she was not confident in what she was doing. Not to mention I was there for over 3 hours. I wish they would have told me they were scheduling me with a newer stylist because I would’ve gone somewhere else instead. Not worth the time or money to go here.

Alf is one of the first people that has listened to what I want and never doubted anything I said that I wanted. They are extremely professional and helpful when it comes to hair needs. They have a strong understanding of curly hair which is a difficult skill to find in hair professionals. I highly recommend him!

The experiences I have had here are atrocious. I recently called to get a haircut and was very nice, however, one of the owners picked up the phone and was extremely rude. Rude to the point I needed to have his partner call me personally and try and apologize. I thought it was nice and they even said I could get a free haircut and free massage. I did not accept these as that was too kind for just a little bit of rudeness. I did schedule an appointment recently and JUST got back from my haircut today (2/27/21) at 3:15pm. I was assigned to Jessica. She was not only not sympathetic towards me when I seemed very nervous and was unsure of what I truly wanted in my haircut today, she tried convincing me to get more hair than I wanted off and to have my hair cut dry (which yes, I asked her what her opinion was, but I did not want this). We proceeded to get my hair washed, but before I knew it, I got sprayed by the nozzle at the hair washing station and I got completely drenched from my blouse to my shorts. Not only did she seem not truly sorry, she handed me a small towel and I sat there crying while she barely seemed to mind the emotions I felt during this time. I will never recommend anyone to go here and sadly ruined a good experience one after another. I also have a picture of my car seat after I had left: its of how wet my shorts were because the water collected in the seat I was sitting in. I ran out without a haircut crying thinking this was one more thing to add to my day I did not need.

The reviews and high rate you see is made by Avant (Business owner). Avant makes too many accounts and reviews in order to make a good rate. Its a shame. They dont even respect their customers.

Mario helped me make a drastic change by cutting off all my long hair into a sweet short style. He took his time to make sure the end cut looked great and that I was thrilled, even offering to do a second hour of work if I wasnt pleased. But I was pleased right away. The combination of a fantastic cut and style left me leaving the salon with a lighter step and confidence. He used a razor and scissors and cut it wet and finished it dry to make sure it looked as fabulous as I hoped! I will be returning, and perhaps trying more edgy styles because I have full trust in Mario and his skills!Besides the personal attention, the salon was clean and social distanced, I was screened before I went in and masks stayed on the whole visit. Friendly, professional, and safe!

This salon has a great vibe from the minute you walk in. The stylists all seem to get along and really care about their clients. The owners are on site and actively involved in making sure things work well. Chelsea was fantastic and Donovan is always fun to help you when checking out. My stylist was amazing she really walked me through every step of the process and gave me exactly what I wanted. I will be going back.

I really like this salon, and having crazy curly hair is one of the few salons I trust to cut my hair and not mess it up. My only problem is my hair just doesn’t ever really like the styling products they use, and I paid $30 extra for a conditioning treatment and my hair feels like straw (which it never does) so it’s a little disappointing, but I guess I just won’t be doing the treatment next time.

I used to be bleach blonde and during quarantine my roots grew out too much so I just boxed dyed in dark brown to match my natural color. Almost a year later, I decided I wanted to get back to the blonde again so I made a consultation at Avant Garde. My consultation was with Bronson (who I havent seen any reviews about, but spoiler alert shes amazing) and she asked great questions and made recommendations based on my current hairs condition and gave me realistic expectations for my first visit based on the test strand she did. She prioritized keeping my hair healthy and explained all my options as my hair wasnt in the best shape. I booked an apt with her for a month later and she gave me a bunch of samples to help my hair in the mean time leading up to the visit. I just went in for my cut and color and she did AMAZING! She is super super cool and honest about the entire experience, and got me as light as I couldve considering the state of my hair. Im coming back in 6 weeks to go lighter as recommended by her to give my hair time to breathe. It was so refreshing to have a hair professional test my hair, take time to figure out exactly what I want, and emphasize keeping my hair healthy all the while not promising exactly what I desired because my hair would be unrepairable if she were to develop my boxed dye uneven hair that much! The care and attention to detail was great. The end result was an ashy blonde with a nice shadow root, and she even gave me some nice face framing blonder pieces in the front. Love it.Also, when I arrived, I was offered a free manicure because the nail lady had an opening and it was a lovely surprise. She did a great job as well! I loved my experience at this salon and I would recommend it 100%. Im glad I trusted Bronson with my hair journey and I will be back (I also bought all their products I sampled before my visit because they smell great and make your hair feel amazing!). However Beth was very professional and thorough with my consultation and took time to really look at my hair type and listen to what I wanted. Excellent service! I felt incredibly safe with the extra precautions the salon has taken with COVID-19. My stylist Calla was absolutely fantastic. This salon was professional & clean before COVID-19, but they have managed to find a way to make the client experience very comfortable while also being VERY safe & clean. My stylist Chelsea is phenomenal. I only see her every 6 month but she always makes me feel like it was just yesterday since the last time we spoke. Since coming to Avant Garde and seeing Chelsea, my curly wavy hair has gotten so healthy and regained a lot of its curl pattern. Everyone was friendly and professional, and Michelle gave me the best haircut for my wavy/curly hair I’ve ever had. I had a dead battery after arriving and AAA had to come while I was there. Michelle was wonderfully patient and accommodating as I had to run out to the parking garage for the mechanic during my cut. I couldn’t have had a more positive experience. And, Aveda!

I followed my friend, Michelle, to this salon when she moved. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is how clean it is! From the floor, to the windows, to each station; it’s obvious that they take cleanliness very seriously. The owners are there to make sure that you are comfortable and taken care of. And they really treat their employees like family.This is an Aveda salon, so there is no harsh chemical smell. The front desk staff is amazing and will help you with any scheduling conflicts.Parking is just upstairs in the shands parking garage and it takes literally 3 minutes from the car to the front door. They even have their own dedicated parking spaces that are right next to the stairs and elevator.

I made an appointment for a haircut with Alf at the recommendation of friends and Im so pleased with my experience and my haircut! I was slow to call at first due to previous salons/stylists being unable to work with kinky hair, or being hesitant to cut as low as I preferred. But Alf was great and I do plan to come back for future appointments!I also appreciate that they seem to be taking their COVID precautions seriously, which makes me feel better about visiting.

I went in for a scalp treatment, and the service was amazing. Not to mention the results! I am blown away to see such an improvement both in my scapulas and the texture of my hair.

Brittney who works here made this one of the worst experiences Ive had in a salon. I had asked for a frosty blonde ombre, and showed her a picture as well. The result was a streaky and patchy orange mess, with weird shades of orange all over. When I mentioned to her that this is not what I had asked for, and that my hair is *clearly* ruined and nothing like what I had showed her. All she said was that she likes it and it looks fine to her. So I paid $300 and shes the only person who approves of it. Clearly it means nothing to her that a client is unhappy. In this salon, you pay money to the hairstylists so they feel good about themselves and disregard the clients requests. I thought it was the other way around.Horrible experience.

I’ve been coming to this Salon for many years. No matter who I see, the staff always provides excellent services, and I always leave with a huge smile on my face. I come in for cuts and highlights, and they always pick a gorgeous blonde shade personalized for me! I currently live about two hours out of town, but I refuse to find another stylist in my area because Avant Garde is so good!! I’m willing to make the commute to get perfect results. The receptionist was so incredibly kind and made sure I was comfortable while waiting and gave me all the information I needed when leaving. It seriously was the best service industry experience I’ve had in a very long time!!

Calla is such an amazing stylist! I get flustered about what I want and have no clue how to put it in words but shes always able to figure it out and come through perfectly! The studio is also so well kept and all the staff are so nice and helpful.

I had allot of difficulties finding a person who can cut my hair the way i like it. A hairdresser that makes time,listen to you. In the past I went to cheap places,expensive places. it did not matter. I just did not find the person i was happy with. At Avant Garde salon I met Beth who did a fabulous job !!! I am very happy.!!!

Made a switch from Haile Spa to here and do NOT regret it! The space is so beautiful, the staff are so super friendly. Huge selection of Aveda products! If you have curly hair, make sure to check out Michelles work! Shes my go to and is always great to work with! Tell her Kim sent you 😉

Brittany was great. She gave me a great cut and style. I appreciate that I felt safe and that everyone at Avant Garde was geared toward protecting themselves and their guests during this time.
