Good people but did not do what I asked. I wanted none off the top shorter in sides and back. I showed a reference photo. Barber took about 4 inches off the top, opposite of what I asked and looked nothing at all like the reference photo. To be fair this place if good for people with buzz cuts or short military style hair, but past that seems to be out of their area of expertise.

Good people, fast turn around and relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Friendly owner gives decent haircuts at a reasonable price. As long as you are of age there is a beer in the refrigerator with your name on it if you are feeling particularly parched while in line or just hanging out at the shop. I get hair cuts here because I like to support veteran owned businesses.

Steve is very knowledgeable and friendly. I asked for a specific style and got exactly what I wanted. During the cut he explained to me what he was doing and offered variations/ optional changes to cater the style more to my liking and natural hair. Ill be back for sure while my wife and I are temporarily in the area.

I aint never stepped foot in such a cool barber shop. The atmosphere was very laid back and the barber was a friendly guy. $12 for a mans haircut? Sign me up all day for that deal (I called around everything in Ellsworth, and the average price was $16). That, my friend, is a hell of a bargain. Im definitely going to be back for my next cut.

Took our boys in to get their hair cut. Our youngest’s first. The lady was super good! Got them in and out of the chair fast. If you have kids you know how important that is. And the hair cuts look good too.

Long story short, I was looking for a haircut Saturday morning and this place opens at 7 AM. I walk in and I have to be the one to actually acknowledge before being acknowledged. I sit down and the gentleman asked if I have appointment and I replied no. He gives me this scoffed response about not being able to fit me in today. Which is totally understandable if youre busy. However, as a former business owner myself and current commercial pilot (otherwise no way in hell Id be in Ellsworth Maine) I feel like the customer service was definitely lacking. There wasnt a heres my card or thanks for stopping by there was absolutely nothing. He was more enthralled with the conversation with the current client. As pilots we fly into Bar Harbor in copious amounts and stay in Ellsworth; however, no way Im recommending this establishment whatsoever. I guess I am of the old school mindset you still have to earn your business. Its quite obvious this establishment only relies on local customers and doesnt really feel the need to cater to anyone else.Pardon any brevity. Sent from my iPhone.

All three are good barbers. In fact, Id give the Man Cave Barbershop 5 stars if it werent for the variable pricing for haircuts they just started. $12 Monday through Friday, $16 on Saturday, $20 on Sunday. GIVE ME A BREAK! If there were ever a recipe for failure, this would be it. A haircut should cost the same regardless of the day of the week. If you have more customers on Saturday, then make sure all your chairs have a barber at them. Less on Monday? Have just one barber. Schedule your barbers right and you wont have to gouge your customer!

Have gone here 2 times. First time was a great haircut but very pricey it was on a Sunday. It cost me 25 bucks including the tip. The second time it was a different barber. I walked in and was the only one there. I asked of he had time to do a quick cut. He sighed and said better make it quick. He was rude as hell. The haircut was spot on just as I asked for but I was not impressed by how rude he was. I almost walked out. I have read some other reviews and it seems people have had similar experiences.

Open seven days a week. Provides great service, very hospitable. Reasonable rates compared to other shops. Great place for military hair cuts!

Manly men skilled in the delicate art of shaping the short man hairs. Cozy place, cool decor, very manly log cabin style with free beers for adult customers. Not the best place for moms to bring Junior in for a cut, its a true man cave, and the men in there live, cut and die like true men.

Come in with long hair 3 times about 3 inches, wanting to leave with half an inch or less off, and leave with an inch left on my head. When I say I want a small amount taken off, that is what I mean and want, I dont want what you want to give me and what you think is best.

I had a good experience here today. Got in, didnt have to wait long, and got a quick haircut that was how I wanted it.I almost didnt go because of the lower rating than some other places in town, but then I noticed that all 6 of the 1 star ratings were at the same time and said similar things. I then noticed that one of them said, my favorite podcaster came here and...(had a bad experience, etc, etc).Honestly, I think its kind of annoying and one-sided that one guy with a podcast talks bad about a place and it ends up with a bunch of 1 star reviews because his fans leave a bunch of 1 star reviews. Come on...dont leave a review unless you actually went there yourself and had a 1 star experience.

I know a guy who took his 4-year old son here to get his first old-school barbershop haircut. The proprietor barely acknowledged them (not even putting his cell phone down) in spite of the fact that there were NO customers in the shop. My friend overlooked the rude reception and attempted to engage the proprietor in a lighthearted conversation regarding the haircut. Unfortunately his friendly attempt to become a paying customer was only met with more rudeness and a bitter attitude. My friend left the shop disappointed. There are WAY better places in town to get a haircut. I seriously doubt this guy will be in business much longer, unless his attitude changes. Maybe he was having a bad day, if so he probably should have just closed the shop, rather than taking it out on a customer!
