I rate Vaughns Auto 5 stars. I have taken my cars here for over 10 years. I wont get anywhere else. Ron and his staff are knowledgeable and great at what they do. They take the time to explain what is exactly wrong, so you dont have to question your service.Heck, Ron even has good quality used vehicles for sale if you dont have one. Rons been in business for decades. He wont steer you wrong.

When asking around town for a great mechanic, 100% of the people i asked referred me here. How does that happen? How can any other mechanic compete with that? Also, I was in a very unique situation where I needed work done ina short time, scheduled the appointment and called the day before to verify itll get done in time. Instead, Matt the manager said bring it in now because they might have time to look at it just in case they needed a part for the next day. A couple hours later I get a call saying its done and the price was under what google was saying the average would be. If i was a local, Id be one dumb person to go anywhere else. Even if I have to drive an hour or two, if Im close enough and need a repair, this is my spot!

Ive had this car for about 7 months with no problems but the ac. Took it there to get the ac looked at, they tell me they looked around the wires from the battery for my ac, and magically my car wont start the next day

Working with Vaughns Automotive was a wonderful experience. I was fortunate to to find out what the issue was before getting charge for any labor. They worked with my father calling from out of state and was able to resolve the issues, while being polite and efficient.

I was recommended to Vaughn’s by a long time Dubuquer and they’re my go-to mechanic. They are honest, even when maybe it’s not the best business move (when they recommend certain jobs, they often give tips on how to care for my van if I decline their work). They don’t throw a bunch of unnecessary stuff at you and don’t try to scare you into certain fixes (this is not true of other shops I have taken my van to in Dubuque!).As far as expenses go, they have always charged average or bellow. And I’m happy to pay them for their integrity. The work they have had done has always been quick and satisfactory. Over all a good place to which I will always take my vehicle first.

Such a great place! I had my car fixed last week for a mass airflow light. When the light came back on they wanted me to come back and they corrected everything free of charge.Since I’m a college student I don’t always have a friend to give me a ride so they dropped me off and picked me up when my car was ready.Everyone is so nice there and their service is super quick. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for good service at a completely fair price.

I took my old pickup truck to Vaughns after reading online reviews and having a retired mechanic tell me to go there. My truck had thrown a belt that I could not get back on. The guys were super friendly and understanding when I explained the other issues I was having (bought the truck a few months ago from a shade tree mechanic who actually messed things up). The radiator was damaged when the belt broke and they actually shopped around to find a better price for me saving me a lot of money. The tech went over and above to find my rough idle problems and without even asking, replaced a fuse so my gauges would work. Net result, the amount I paid was LESS than I was quoted AND the work done was fantastic. Thanks, guys, weve found our new shop in Dubuque.

The company i work for uses this shop as or local fleet maintenance shop. The prices are great, very quick about getting repairs done, and working with schedules. Would defiantly recommend to another fleet company or anyone need repairs done

My wife and I purchased a gently used Ram from Jeff after getting it home we found an issue with the radio, Jeff managed to work with my local dealer and get it all fixed up, I cant thank Jeff enough, it is a little nerve wracking purchasing a used vehicle out of state but they absolutely stood behind there product. I have had the truck 6 months now and it has been great, so I would highly recommend talking to Jeff if you are in new or used car market.

We had a water pump belt break while traveling through Dubuque. We found Vaughn’s by scanning through reviews on Google and made a beeline to their shop. They pulled our car into their garage immediately and diagnosed the problem within 20 minutes. Very friendly and professional; provided updates every step of the way while we waited in the shop. They even offered to drive us to our destination 30 minutes away when it was not clear if they had the needed parts. But we were back on the road within an hour! The price seemed fair and was less than their estimate. Overall a great experience and I’d highly recommend them.

RV has been a life-saver for our family & our (6) vehicles! His shop has been punctual, fair, thorough and diagnosed the true issues of any problems our vehicles have had. Quick to notify us of problems found and sometimes finish a day early of needed repairs. Have used Vaughn’s for years and will continue to let them keep our fleet going!!

On our way to Wisconsin for vacation our Honda Odysseys alternator went bad. It happened on a Sunday and the farm and home store across the street wasnt able to help. They recommended Vaughns. After hearing our situation they worked us in as quickly as they could on Monday morning and had us on the road by 10:30am. They were very professional and friendly. Their pricing was competitive and fair compared to the quotes and research that I did. I hope not to be stuck in Dubuque any time soon due to mechanical issues but if I was this is the first place I would go!

Our experience with Vaughn’s began with a request to repair the climate control functions of our Volvo S80. When we brought the car in we stated that the air conditioning would work on a random basis and the interior fan would not stop blowing. I also explained that if repairs exceeded $500 we were going to trade the car. They replaced multiple parts on the vehicle at their discretion. On 4 different occasions we were told the car was complete however each time the functions did not work properly. The total spend was over $900 and we still have a vehicle without air conditioning.

Diagnosed my problem and fixed it rather quickly, one star. They were pretty nice second star. That’s it. I was informed by them that something on my rear axle was also bad, which they quoted me almost $400 to fix. This was a lie because I had a mechanic look at everything two days earlier and it was all good. All they want is you money, and they do that through lies! Would not recommend!

Almost was charged 405$ to get my exhaust system fixed but Vaughn’s did the same job for 163$ plus a few extra details, they also gave me pointers on future repairs and great prices!

My in-laws were visiting Dubuque and suffered a spring failure while driving here. They chose Vaughns because he was able to change his schedule to fit them in today. He was able to get enough parts to fix the problem. Total time was about 4 hours! Very reasonable price, too! He also helped them with advice on how to submit a claim with their insurance. Highly recommended.EDIT: I also personally just had Ron install a new alternator in one of my vehicles. The work was done quickly and under estimate. They also had free WiFi available in their lobby while I waited so I could continue working. I look forward to referring others to Ron Vaughns Automotive!

After receiving a quote of over $2,000 from another auto repair shop, I decided to give Vaughns a try. Ron, the owner, gave me an honest rundown of what parts really needed to be changed out and what required immediate repair. My total cost: approximately $250. Needless to say that from that point on, Vaughns is the only place that I will go to when my vehicle requires attention. Ive recommended him to several family members and we all appreciate his good, honest business practice. For those of you who are new to the Dubuque area, especially you college students who need to get your car winterized and are low on funds, this is the place to go. Set up an appointment early because they tend to be fully booked and I can understand why.

My son goes to school there and his car stopped on him I had his car towed to Vaughns Automotive and Ron and his staff really took care of it for me my son says his car rides so good now that the problem has been solved. To Ron and his staff thanks a million and it didnt cost much.

Most expensive oil change in town! And thats including dealerships. NEVER going there again. $97 for an oil change! Most Ive ever paid anywhere else is $68 w tax in the same car. Owner lies thru his teeth. Said he paid 25 for a cabin air filter when they sell the exact same one at AutoZone across the street from his shop for $13!

My wife took in her equinox to get fixed because it had an issue with multiple lights being on. That was the only issue we spent over $300 there and when my wife went to pick it up the turn signals no longer click off after corners due to the arm being cracked. She called them and explained the situation they told her to drive it for a couple days and see what happens. They clearly were reckless in test driving it and broke the turn signal arm yet they are not willing to stand up and say yah we messed up sorry we will fix it hence the 1 star review. So if your going here better know your vehicle otherwise they break things and they are not liable

I needed a new oil pan for my VW Passat they were able to change my oil pan and gave me a complimentary full oil change, for more then halve the price of almost every other mechanic shop. This is the number one spot in Dubuque to go and get your car fixed, when ever I have a car problem I will go to them first.side note: I gave them the oil and oil filter they did not charge me for the labor.

Have had nothing but great experiences, whether its been routine check ups and oil changes, or something more severe, Ive had nothing but good, timely, well done service.
