The guys here are awesome. The mechanics really know what they are doing. They finished my car pretty quickly and the price wasnt bad at all. I asked ALOT of questions and the guys at the front desk were very enthusiastic to work with me. They were also really upfront about my car, definitely not trying to upsell you on parts you dont need, or about parts that arent broken like some other sleezy companies. Will definitely be coming back for all my vehicles, and will be recommending to friends and family in the Dubuque area.

If you had brake line work. Check your resivorre. Filled mine to the top. Put in wheel cylinders I didnt need. Lied about what was done with brake lines. As far as how many. New starter rather than rebuilt. Alot of /problems with failures. (Not availability). phoned around not the case. Am planning complaint/legal action. Told ex on speaker phone he would still do business with me. But basically would screw me. I could go on.1 ⭐ cuz apparently you havent the option of a thumbs down.

I have been taking my cars to Top Shelf (Formerly Jeff Davis Auto) for the last 10+ years. I travel 2.5 hours to take my Tahoe and Prius to Gale and his excellent group of mechanics at Top Shelf. Honesty is a priority for me, and Top Shelf goes above and beyond! Unlike many mechanics in Chicago, Top Shelf will not suggest unnecessary work or repair. The mechanics at Top Shelf are well trained and highly experienced. You will not leave Top Shelf disappointed with the service you receive.

Left my car there for a day and they didnt do what I asked, or anything for that matter. Just wanted to talk me into replacing many parts that were unnecessary.

Jeff Davis Auto is the best. They have repaired or maintained every vehicle I own except for my scooter. He has worked on my two classic cars, my commercial vehicle, my passenger vehicle, my recreational vehicle and my cargo van. His mechanics are skilled in all facets of auto repair be it mechanical, electrical, etc. There is nothing they cant do. Northenders love his service and if you are there around 5 when people are picking up there cars, you will see how loved this man is. A great service run very well by a great man.

Was able to get car repair scheduled two days after problem was diagnosed. Repair itself took an hour. Everyone was very helpful and courteous.

I had to find another mechanic because I was moving to the area. I know that it can be tough to find someone that you can trust, but I gave Jeff Davis Auto a try on the recommendation of a colleague. It was awesome! I initially talked to Gail over the phone to set up the appointment and he was a hoot. When I can in for my appointment, both Gail and Jeff took the time (despite being very busy) to get to know me whole I waited for my oil change. I was in and out quickly, the service was fantastic, and the cost was reasonable. Ill definitely be returning for my future car maintenance needs!

Jeff, Gayle, and the entire staff are great. Theyve done oil changes, fuel injector work, and a handful of other jobs for me on my vehicle that has over 110K miles on it. They offer honest advice and feedback at every step. My car is still running well! The time and effort they put in to a correct diagnosis makes everything thereafter worth it.

Very friendly would go there again

I needed my brakes replaced and this business was recommended by a family member. The man I spoke to who appeared to also be the owner seemed polite at first, but after looking at my vehicle, insisted over the phone he would only fix my breaks if I replace the whole bunch of stuff on my vehicle, that in my opinion might be old but definitely was not broken or in need of replacement. I was polite about this and declined the other repairs and asked again just for the brakes to be fixed. He priced me at $5000 for a very large number of what I would perceive again, as perhaps eventual repairs but currently unnecessary. He seemed to have mistaken my vehicle for somebody elses because he insisted he knew where the vehicle came from and that it was junk. He then told me several times in a row progressively growing into a yelling tone that my vehicle is junk. I attempted to offer my other vehicle to be serviced and he told me that I just dont get it and repeated that its junk a few more times. I became a little irritated and ask him to stop which I guess somehow encouraged him to tell me a few more times that my vehicle is junk in a yelling tone. so I declined all services on both of my vehicles. I was so mad I told him to pop my hood and put my keys on the dipstick so that I didnt have to talk to him in person when I got there. He couldnt even do that.

I have no idea but the quilt shop (Quilt This) next door is fantastic.

Jeff and Gayle are awesome! They will look into the issues you are having, but dont just fix things because YOU say they need to be fixed. they investigate the issues and if they agree that there is a problem, will go over options with you, but if they feel that you dont need the service, they are honest enough to tell you. You dont find many places that will not just take your money anymore!

Reliable and trustworthy service

I took my car there for a rotor and brake replacement (the rotor was rusted on) and they werent sure if they would get to it that day. Later that same day, I got a call saying it was done and it was done for a good price. I was referred to them by a friend and Ill be sure to do the same for anyone else with car issues.

I had a really good experience here. I felt they were fair, reasonably priced and were female-friendly.

I had taken my vehicle here to get ONE thing fixed. Upon inspection the owner, Jeff Davis, had told me that this, that, and another thing needed to be fixed as well. I have a warranty on my vehicle and I told them that it should be covered. They were supposed to call the warranty company to get me a price on the service. He told me that he would do that and let me know and I told him not to do anything until then. When he called me to tell me that my warranty had just expired, he had already started working on my vehicle before even giving me a price for the service. Very disappointed with this business.
