Im happy to say that your search is over. THIS is where you should take your vehicle.Heres my experience with Abercrombie in a nutshell: Care, honesty, and expertise. I felt like as a customer, I came first. Sure, it took a while to fall into the schedule, but I can only imagine thats because theyre so in-demand. And for very good reason!We live in Temple, and honestly I think there are some transmission shops closer by. I cannot imagine going ANYWHERE else besides Abercrombie after my experience, though.Thankful to them for all they did!

Honest and straight forward place.I have an automatic sports car, and it was not shifting correctly. I assumed it was a transmission issue. I brought the car to Abercrombie, and I described what it was doing and asked for a rebuild. He refused to work on it and told me to take it to a general mechanic after I described the issue to him. The general mechanic discovered a bad sensor that controlled the shift pattern... $200 fix.Even though I brought my car to Abercrombie and practically begged to spend $3,000 on a rebuild, the guy there understood what I actually needed and refused to take my money. (I brought it back for a standard service to show gratitude.. only $165 by the way.)Theyre honest guys who have been doing it for years. The boss man told me he had been doing it for something like 41 years. They also listened to what I had to say about what my car was doing. Some mechanics from other shops wont give you the time of day to listen.Transmission issues are never cheap, but $165 for a standard service is stellar.

I want everyone to know these people are the greatest ,they are the most honest and professional people that Ive ever worked with. Tim is great, conscientious is an understatement. He is absolutely good as gold. You cannot ever go wrong dealing with this transmission shop. I cant say enough good things about them, theyre great.

Aug. 2020 I took my F250 to Abercrombie to have it rebuilt. They did a great job. I got a 12month, 12000.mile warranty. At about 12250. miles it started to pour transmission fluid out the front of the transmission. I took it back not sure what to expect. The torque converter had crack in it. They said even though the warranty was out they would fix it at no cost. Tim said this should not have happen. I am so blessed by this because I did not know where we were going to get the money to repair it. They did not know that I was just coming through cancer and treatments and had to close my business due to the cancer. Some companies would have said the warranty was out, tough luck. Thanks Tim and Abercrombie Transmission.I am adding to this review. Abercrombie went beyond my expectation after doing my first truck and fixing it. They did an outstanding job on my other car that I could not afford to get done. They bless me so much. If I could give them even greater rating I would. I am giving them a 10 on my rating score. If you need a good, honest, transmission company to do your work. This is the place. Thank you you have blessed me beyond measure.

I am from out of town and I needed somebody to look at my car because I was going back to Michigan. They fixed the codes on my transmission because it was in protection mode and they did it for free. Then as I was trying to drive off my power steering belt broke off so they recommended me to go to Bright Star. They drove the car there for me because I couldnt drive it and I they did all this for free. They have great customer service everybody was friendly and helpful. I appreciate everybody that worked on my car thank you very much you guys are the best

All I can say is WOW - more businesses should run like these folks! My son claimed he had a transmission issue and Abercrombie Transmission was recommended. Dropped off his car late in the day and they promised to look at it the next day. They did as promised - test drive and turns out it was not anything to do with the transmission at all. Then they did not even charge me a diagnostic charge. Honest and genuinely nice people. If I have any transmission issue they will be the first people I call. Job well done. If youre like me who has very little mechanical knowledge, the dred that comes with determining that your vehicle has got some kind of mechanical issue can feel almost palpable. The last thing you want to experience is getting a list of expensive services/parts that you may or may not need thats going to take a huge chunk out of your bank account. You want to know that the folks youre dealing with are competent, capable, and honest; and unless youve already got a pre-existing relationship with a mechanic, it can be tough to determine at first blush whether the folks providing service are any or all of those. Not to worry, the team over at Abercrombie Transmission have all of those things.Ive got a 2009 Mustang that was starting to act up and it felt like it might possibly be a transmission issue. The only problem was the it was intermittent and not easily replicated. The team over at Abercrombie took it out for a test drive, driving it close to 40 miles before the issue presented itself and they were able to experience what Id been experiencing.They could have very easily stopped after looking to see if any codes were being tossed (there werent), or maybe take it for a couple mile drive to see if the problem happened. When nothing happened, it would have been very easy (and maybe more efficient/lucrative) to say No problems that we could find and either offer to hook me up with an expensive diagnostic bill so they could take apart the transmission, or send me on my way no better off than what I was. Instead they took it the extra mile (or in this case 39 miles), and helped me to determine it wasnt a transmission issue, but something that I suspect will be far less costly for me to fix.Ive spent well over a decade working in the customer service industry. I know what bad customer service looks like, I know what good customer service looks like, and I also know what exceptional customer service looks like. The team at Abercrombie absolutely qualifies as exceptional. From the moment I walked in the door, to the minute I concluded my business, they were fantastic. If I ever do have a transmission issue, this is the first place Im headed to, and I would strongly encourage anyone experiencing possible transmission issues to do the same!

Best transmission rebuilding ever. My jeep was rebuilt in 2016 and out of warranty but started leaking fluid after only 2000 miles. They stood behind it and fixed for free. Tried to give him money but wouldnt take it. They will have my business forever.

I was thoroughly pleased with the service I received at Abercrombie. I initially came for a diagnostic check of what was going on with my SUV (no charge). Several weeks later I returned to have the transmission in my 2011 Buick Enclave replaced. Instead of replacing worn parts with OE. I received upgraded parts to prohibit premature wear off components. The staff made me feel extremely comfortable having my vehicle serviced there and they did not give me a guilt trip or apply any unnecessary pressure. They were very knowledgeable and gave me the risks of letting the problem persist but did not play on my emotions. This is the type of shop that you wished all general automotive shops modeled themselves after, even though they only service transmissions. Thank you Abercrombie!

Great service and advice on what my truck needed to have done to be serviced properly. I found them to be honest and truly concerned about getting me the best and least expensive solution for my truck.

I delivered my 4Runner to Tim and family for a bunch of transmission codes being thrown at me. They used their time wisely and found it was a wiring harness attached to my transmission that was corroded. Being a 05, it was not a part that was easy to come by without spending thousands through the Toyota dealership.Tim not only hunted down the parts that were needed, but at a WAY lower cost then anywhere else would have found them. (For those who dont know... a wiring issue can be very costly for parts, but also time!)All-in-all, I got the external connector fixed, the internal wiring harness replaced, filter pack changed and transmission flushed, AND they replaced the Neutral Safety Switch. I got her back about 2-3 weeks ago (a little late getting to this review) but... I will tell you, the customer service and communication was outstanding, the service was absolutely the best, and for the work they do - you simply cannot beat the quality and price!I will absolutely recommend anyone with transmission problems to get up there and have them work on it. Be patient since some of these things take time... but know your vehicle is in great hands and they will take care of you!Semper Fi Tim!

The service here is unmatched the owner is very informative and keeps his word if he say he will call you back he will if he tell you a price I guarantee you he will hold to it. I had my truck sent to his shop from another shop that gave up on me Abercrombie figured what the issue was the next day gave me a update before they touched my truck to make sure I approved and when I did the next day my truck was done. Was highly recommended to this place by a few family friends and employers, and I now clearly see why. My recently purchased 2005 Honda Pilot suddenly lost reverse, 4th and 5th gear. I limped it to their shop right as they were closing up yet was kindly greeted by a gentleman named Tim. He was very receiving and took the time to listen to my concerns, understand my budget and share in my frustrations. Left my vehicle overnight that Wednesday, and was contacted the following morning by Tim himself about the projected schedule and timeline, explaining they would have the transmission dropped and cracked open for inspection by midday the following Friday. Surely enough, promises kept. They explained the damages and costs, all well known defects which I expected and was well aware of, and gave the dreaded total costs. Wanting a full rebuild and after calling around between multiple other transmission shops, including Honda themselves, their price was well within reason compared to nearby competitors, and even as much as $1000 cheaper than dealer quote. I expected this repair to take quite a long time, possibly up to two weeks or more according to said nearby competitors and dealer estimations. I received a call the following Monday, where I was updated on the timeline and progression of my repairs. I was never left not knowing how long it would take and was contacted roughly every 48 hours about the status of it. The following Friday, only a week after they initially got to me, I was called to come pick it up! My Pilot now shifts smoothly and quietly, and they even installed a name-brand oil cooler to insure their work and offer me piece of mind. Not only were they courteous, kind and honest but quick and communicative to boot. I wouldn’t hesitate a moment to suggest these fine people to anyone and everyone. Thanks, Abercrombie!

When I went in and had my vehicle checked, he confirmed I did in fact need a new transmission. He told me about their financing options and I came in a week later to have it done. I couldn’t be anymore happy with the level of service that was provided to me. My transmission came with a warranty and the ability to extend that warranty if I choose. Theyre amazing. I had an issue with my driver shaft and bearing. Not only did they respond the same day, they replaced it and had it running the next day ready for pick up. Dropped a Saturn off with trans issues. The next morning they checked it out, filled the trans up, tested the vehicle and could find no leak. They called and explained the situation. Let us know they were going to retest it and give it a second check. After finding no issue they called and let us know there was nothing wrong and did not charge us a thing!! Great and honest Transmission shop. My transmission was shifting hard with the trans and check engine light on and they diagnosed it and filled the transmission with fluid for free (have to fill the trans from the bottom via a pump aka a pain!). Unfortunately i could not afford to fix it at the time so got the car back at no cost to me. They could have easily charged me for the diagnostic testing and putting the car on the rack to fill the trans. Chuck is very polite and professional. I recommend this shop, at least give it a try.- Update about a year later the trans was slipping and i went back to this place because they were so great and had low prices. They rebuilt my trans and offered a warranty. Since then i drove the car a few thousand miles and sold it the other day. The trans is doing great and would recommend this shop to anyone.-update about a year later 11/14 I took my Yukon XL 8.1L there due to severe harsh shifting. They replaced my torque converter and rebuilt my trans. They also noticed a problem with my shift linkage. They are very professional and stand by their work. Its now 1/15 and the Yukon is driving great. I have peace of mind for a great price.

My transmission went out in my suv. My husband was quoted $1800 over the phone. Took my car there. They kept it a week. Went to pay and price was $2700. They gave me a $50 discount for paying cash for a total of $2650. Picked the car up, drove it 10 miles. The light came back on, car wouldnt go, and locked in first gear. Same exact thing that it went in for. I called and was told they would come to me since I was broke down on side of road. They sent 2 guys to help me and bring computer. One of the young men starts yelling, rolling his eyes, and shaking his head at me. Needless to say they still have my car 2 days later. I have emailed with no response. I would never recommend them to anyone nor use them again. I am hoping they make it right before I take further action. Was also told that they shouldnt have sent the guy they sent to me that he doesnt deal with customers well.

My car was dropped off a little over 3 weeks ago for possible transmission problems, the car was still under warranty for a transmission rebuild 6 months ago. Upon talking to the someone the first time they were very polite and proceeded to tell me that the warranty was bullit proof and they would take a look at it. I never hear anything for a whole week, i called back and they told me that due to the tires and exhaust on your car, we believe you have been drag racing your car and will not warranty it. After trying to explain it to them that the tires on the car are “STREET” radials, they kept assuming off of looks that i raced the car. A couple days went by of me not hearing Anytning so i called back and spoke with the owner (didn’t get his name but very polite man) i explained the situation to him and he told me he would have his guys break into it and see what they can’t find. Fast forward 2 more weeks and i have yet to hear anything back so i call once again. They tell me they have fixed some busings in the transmission and they’re waiting on transmission fluid from Ford. A couple days later i have yet to hear anything back once again so i call and the owner informs me that the work they done was outside of the transmission and the warranty wouldn’t cover it and wanted me to pay $550 for some work they done without my permission. I called back and asked to speak with the owner again and “chuck” answered and said he was one of them. He was being very hateful trying to tell me he’s cutting me a deal on labor, i proceeded to tell him i brought my car down there for work in the transmission that was under warranty. He kept being hateful and finally told me to just come get my car. Mural of the story is, i wouldn’t recommend these guys to my worst enemy for any work, and if you do don’t expect your warranty to ever help anything..

My worst experience ever ! its a shame to call a business ! i even have 1 year and 12 000 miles warranty with them, and im not going back, i dont trust anybody from this service. they damaged my car and refused to fix it. they used my car for personal needs...almost 300 test drive miles. Missing cellphone charging cable from my car as well. and the price wasnt that low anyways. total disaster !! dont recommend...

Before Abercrombie Trans, I had no shifting or transmission problems except a gentle whine. Knowing the trans had 160,000 plus miles, I decided to have it rebuilt. Abercrombie first told me $900.00 to fix it. They kept it 2 1/2 weeks and when I went by to check on it they were upset that my shifter was as old as the trans, so it had play.When talking with the manager, he seem to hem haw around and buddy buddy you. Abercrombie manager said he would jack leg my shifter, it to get it working right. I had no problems with the shifter prior other that, other than being a bit worn. I knew I could get a better price on a shifter, as I now believed that Abercrombie may be wanting me to pay for a shifter. I ordered me a shifter and told Abercrombie to put my old shifter in and I would pick it up. They did so, and then I had to pay $1,500. I was shocked the bill was $660 higher than the estimate. No problem, I paid, like what choice did I have? Driving it home the gears were hard to change and had to grind it.The very next day, I drove the truck about 300 feet and knew I had problems. When I got on the road, it would not shift into 2nd or did so after much grinding. I tried many times to see if it was me. Prior to Abercrombie, I had NO SHIFTING PROBLEMS., I JUST WANTED TO GET THE 160,000 TRANS rebuilt. Anyway, since I couldnt drive it forward, I backed it in my driveway, where it is sitting. Supposedly Abercrombie guys are on the way. For now, I know I didnt make a wise choice going to Abercrombie. They arrived and instead of repairing it at my house and without telling me, they drove it back to their shop, I expected quality work at $1500.00 plus 2 1/2 weeks work to last.When I spoke with them about why they took it back, the manager stated that he didnt see any problems with it. I explained that I was on the way to get it. He told me not to come. I said, if there is no problem I am coming to get it. The words I heard after that were, Yea you bring your Body in my shop. I took that as a threat. I went there and the manager refused to take my truck off the rack. He said he was going to keep my truck another week. I had already paid the bill so I and had to call the Douglasville Police. The owner arrived after a few minutes he instructed the manager to bring the truck out and he couldnt believe that the truck was still on the rack. Its now been only 51 miles and the transmission is leaking. I called them, and they did not call back. I just emailed them. NEXT DAY; No one called or emailed me. I will call again. I will update. Again, do not go there. Think about this ordeal. NOTE; My mother had her trans repaired there and she said, I would have told you not to go there, son. UPDATE. No one ever called back. I called again and I requested that the owner meet with me tomorrow to deliver the truck. The manager said he would attempt to call the owner. Update: The OWNER, a very Professional man, did call me and arranged for a repair meeting on Thursday at 8:00AM. Maybe I will be able to get the leak and grind repaired.

Great work at a great price, and they stand by their lifetime warranty no matter what.

They seem knowledgeable enough but after a $2700.00 overhaul with a 1 year/12000 mile warranty I was back in less than 4 months with a bad torque converter/solenoid and they would not re-start the warranty. They didnt change any solenoids which are known to go bad and this has 250k on the clock which should have been cause enough to change them all, yet I could get a factory remanufactured unit for $2900.00 with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty from the dealership and everything in it is new.Basically for 2700 bucks they change out the friction material in the clutches and any broken or badly worn parts, a rebuilt pump and billet converter and slap it back together. It was a mistake on my part for choosing this shop so once again, I should have done it myself because every time I dont, something like this happens. It also ended up being over $500.00 more than originally quoted. Lesson learned albeit an expensive one.
