Zero stars isnt possible but this place is horrendous. Call and wait on hold for 15 minutes plus just to reach someone. Then you get someone who could care less about your experience. I wish I could go back in time and work with any other company.

Called ahead to get my RV propane tank filled. I was told they were busy right now and I replied it wouldnt be until later. The gentleman told me to be there before 5. I pulled in at 4:15 pm and the man outside told me he shut down the propane and would not fill my tank. Their customer service has gone down significantly I wouldnt recommend stopping at this location.

Both times i have gone there the staff are untrained and slow. First time i made reservation on truck they did not have. Second time guy working had no clue on checking me in on my reservation and i stood around 1hr before new guy came in and got me out the door. Go to penske or anywere else is my personal opinion if you want good service.

We rent Uhaul trucks all the time. We dropped off a truck, the staff was nice. The man said they would charge us a $50 blanket folding fee due to harsh winter conditions, if the employee had to fold them. So of course I folded all of the blankets and then told him I’ve never had a location do that.

We used the application to setup contact free, and it was very smooth. The manager Gianni was very helpful, professional, and calm under pressure in getting us on our way. Yes it appeared short staffed when we were there, but the times are tough and all the staff were working efficiently with the numbers they had at that busy time.

Do not go to refill propane, was charged $16 for a 15lb tank which only cost $15 to exchange. Refilling normally saves you money which is why I normally do so. Icing on the cake? Half filled tank of propane, knew if when I picked it up and it felt light, asked the attendant if it was correct he confirmed. Check photo for my proof.

Twice within a month I tried renting a trailer here and both times the lights on their trailers wouldnt work. They said MY vehicle must be the problem. Well I went across town to another Uhaul dealer and rented a working trailer without any problems, both times. AVOID THIS PLACE! Their equipment is garbage and theyll blame you if something doesnt work.

This location charge me for two rental. Although I returned the vehicle well within the specified time actually 24 minutes early they also charge me $25 cleaning fee and the vehicle was not unclean avoid this place it is rip off location

We used to rent from this place in the past but we recently had the worst experience. We reserved a trailer online over two months ago. We drove from Phoenix to Des Moines to clear out a storage unit. The day we arrived we received a call they didnt have a trailer for us but we could drive 70 miles out of the way to pick one up at another. Then told us they dont guarantee rentals and then cancelled our reservation. Thank goodness Penske was able to help us out. Will never use this location ever again.

I had a great experience today dropping off my rental truck. The return agent was very friendly and understanding. It was a rainy muddy day and the truck was not perfectly clean. No extra charge.I ended up bringing the truck back a day early but beyond the 24 hours. Again the agent was very understanding and only charged me for 1 (24 hour) rental. I will rent from them again!

Reserved a trailer for 9:00 pickup. Got there at 9 and there was already a line. Got in line and they only had 1 person working. We waited in line until 10:15. The employee came in and said he was sorry for the wait. He then went into the back room. We waited another 20 minutes. I then cancelled my reservation online and left. I dont blame the employee as he was doing his best. They should have more staff on hand on weekends and have a lot of reservations.

Made a reservation at this location and showed up, but they didnt have the trailer I reserved. They suggested I pick it up on the other side of town. The representative at the desk was sweating profusely and coughing. Didnt appear to know much of anything. This place is a mess as are many if not all of Uhaul locations.

I called over a week ago to make a reservation for a 4x8 trailer. The girl I spoke to took all of my information, including my credit card number and gave me a reservation number. She also assured me that I would pay when dropping the trailer at our destination. Called today to make sure the trailer was there for me to pick up. A gruff man answered the phone and said there arent any 4x8 trailers here. Call somewhere else and hung up on me. I called the main customer service number and they had NO information about my reservation ever being made. Thankfully, there is another one available in Ankeny today. Also, I have to pay at pick-up so hard to move money around to make that work. Save yourself a headache and dont even bother calling this place. They are evidently all rude and/ or stupid.

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL...one employee, 10 customers in line...Mike the “owner” could care less. Average wait time is between 15 minutes to 3 hours. Thanks Mike! I’m glad you’re in no hurry. If I didn’t need this truck I would have walked out. Terrible business and professionalism. But again, I don’t think Mike cares.

Rental of an appliance dolly. I called the 800 number while during the rental day and extended the unit 1 day. WHen returning, the store was so backed up, there were 3 trucks in the street waiting to get in and 1 truck and 1 car in the driveway blocking the entrance. Service lane was also full. I was on my lunch break, so i had to leave the unit in the store. The guy called me the next day to ask if i had returned the unit and i told him i had, and all was good. The next day, i got an email saying i owed 40+ dollars. I called back to the store, i think his name was Justine, He claimed they didnt have my card info and were not able to charge the extra day. I told him they had my card info as i had received a charge already. He then found the charge and said they only charged for the 1 day, and not the extra day. Also said if i didnt want to come back to the store i could call the 800 number as he couldnt process a payment. I called and supposedly it was taken care of. Now, today, i get an email saying they charged my card the full amount which was not supposed to happen. So, I called AGAIN! This time, i asked for a supervisor. Got transferred back to the opening automated message. I called right back, got another black lady, who said they dont have a billing supervisor. I told her the issue and she said she would have to have someone contact me as she couldnt process a credit. I said i would call the attorney general and file a complaint and she said have a good day and hung up... This company is worthless.. I will never use them again.

Customer service was terrible. They had 1 person working on a Saturday morning. Seems like that might be the time I would schedule more than one person. Then after waiting almost 45 minutes (I was 3rd in line) I got my truck and left. They didnt go over a thing with me about the truck, just pointed at a truck running and said That oneI moved my things and returned the truck within 3 hours. When I arrived there was 1 person working and he was too busy to actually check my truck in. Instead of going over everything with me I was forced to leave the truck there as he wasnt going to check it in for me.Hours later we got our receipt and I noticed I had been over charged. They claimed I drove almost 40 miles, when the Google Maps of the trip is only 17.2 Miles. Now if it would have been within 10 miles that is one thing, but there is no way I drove an extra 20 miles.I called the next morning and nobody answered. So then I got sent to a U-Haul call center. They told me they would have somebody contact me from the store in a couple of minutes. Nobody ever called. So I called back after 3 hours. Again nobody answered at the store and my call rang to the call center. A different person told me somebody would call within a few minutes. This time I actually got a return call. I informed him that I felt I had been over charged to which he simple stated No you didnt I told him that there was no way that I drove that far and that I was upset because I was unable to properly check in my truck when I returned it and feel as thought I had been ripped off. I told him I didnt want my $20 back or a refund, but I wanted him to admit to me that he was wrong and that somehow they could have over charged me. He wouldnt agree to that.Moral of the story is, get to the place plenty early because you will have to wait forever and check your odometer and check what they write down on your odometer.Next time I move I wont be using U-haul.

Visited this U-Haul location on a Sunday, the employees were very helpful. We had a few slight mix-ups that were my fault and they were able to fix me up and get me out the door with what I needed. While the store was short staffed, they are hard working employees and did a great job overall. I would visit this U-Haul location again.

There are simply just not enough employees working here at any given time or day. Urbandale location is smaller yet 100x more efficient. Ive used both locations several times each. If possible, avoid this one to save time & hassles.

The staff was amazing, but be prepared to wait. I got there 10 minutes after they opened (20 mins before my reservations time) and I was 9th in line. There was one man working and he was efficient and charismatic, but it still required patience to wait that long on moving day.

I reserved a cargo van and went to the store on time to pick it up. I had to wait in the lobby for 10-15 minutes because no employees were around. The employee finally showed up. He took about 30 more minutes filling out paperwork. He was unprofessional and rude. I returned the van a couple hours later after moving the bed with no issues. Today I look at my bank statement and they charged me twice! I called and the lady who answered basically told me too bad and to call my bank!

Took two weeks to get an appointment for a hitch install, go to drop it off, the guys there are absolutely in the worst possible attitude ever. Tell me they don’t even know what time they are going to get gone with it. Choose another place for all your moving and hitches.

9 times out of 10 you go in there and there are no employees to be found. You can wait a half an hour and none will appear. They might be fine if they were ever there, but who knows. Also, they leave their neon OPEN sign on even when they are closed.

1. Their internet was down, okay fine. They rang me up on the phone and then the computer which made me have to provide all of my information twice.2. They tripped the fraud alert system on my card and had to make 4 separate phone calls to my card company to finally get that right.3. While making the call to my card company one of the employees misspoke and tried to charged over 7 thousand dollars to my card. When i looked over at him concerned he made a joke about it I will fix it but man you should have seen your face4. They ended up charging my card twice with two different amounts. When I mentioned this I was told that. It should clear up on its own as they are just holds at this time. The differing amounts were never explained. (although I assume that this was caused by the 1 day rental I believe I got vs the two day rental I requested)5. I was handed paperwork noting that it needed both my signature and the uhaul employees signature. I looked for a pen myself and signed it before sitting and waiting for someone to sign it. Finally after 5 minutes someone noted that it was my copy and I was free to go. Why didnt someone tell me that when handing me the paper?6. After having my Uhaul for 24 hours I was called and asked if I was bringing it back since my rental was already overdue. I explained that I requested a two day rental only to be told that it was not registered as such. Luckily there were no other rentals on the truck and I was able to keep it.7. When i finally got the two day rental issue figured out I was also informed that I had to have the truck back at 9:15. I didnt leave uhaul until 9:44. I didnt even get to Uhaul until 9:18. I looked up and have the google GPS information that supports it. When I mentioned this I was told that if I am after 9:15 I will be charged for another day. I will otherwise have to talk to a manager.To summarize, every single moment of this rental experience was a complete mess. I walked into 4 employees that all acted like it was their first days on the job. It almost a half of an hour for what should have been a 10 minute process. I was given the wrong return time. I was given the incorrect amount of days. I struggle to find a single redeeming factor out of this entire experience.

Rented a 15 inch truck on 06/29/18 and was the only person that actually brought back the truck after the floods on Saturday 06/30/18 instead of just keeping the truck for another day luke everyone else did because it would have been dishonest of me so they recommended me a cargo van for $0.39 a mile but since the van was significantly smaller we had to do multiple trips and ended up using 154 miles. I had to go into the store twice because they did not want to give me the $0.39 a mile and charged me $43 dollars for 10 gallons of gas..... This is what I got for being an honest person and instead of keeping the truck for another day I went in and worked with them on another solution because another customer needed the truck. Terrible customer service, I will never go back there and I will tell everyone I know and everyone I dont know about my experience.

I went here to buy boxes. I was standing inside for 15 minutes looking for a worker that I could pay for a bundle of moving boxes. It was a weekday evening, finally I decided to walk around the building where I found a guy who came in momentarily. Either they are understaffed or I came on an off night. Do not rent from. Its too small of a location to deal with parking your vehicle while attempting to get a rental. Exiting the location is impossiblenl if you are heading south. Staff also needs to inspect vehicles before rental. The van I rented needed an alignment, had 12 of play in the steering and failed to start once I made my destination.

We had a lot of trouble with this location. They were slow, and some of the employees did not know how to run the computers efficiently. We had a huge mix up with our U-boxes and were not happy with the customer service. This does not mean that we dislike U-Haul. It is simply this location that we were disappointed with. If you are using U-Haul I would recommend using a different location.

Yeah with the trend of everyone elses posts I have to say the service sucked. Dude quoted me $240 for a 5 X 8 (~$18 a day + miles = ~$32-$42) and when I was going to leave because, forget that price the employee screamed wait! I was on the wrong one my bad after 5 minutes of me deliberating. Soooo if I did not walk away and this was my only option I would have paid $240 because an employee was so incompetent he could not work his own machine, OR have the common sense to realize the horrible price disparity right away. It was not a good place to pick up a trailer and if I had to get another one, this would not be the place I would go. That was just the tip of how slow and bad this place was.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!!!! We have rented from uhaul before and never had a problem. This location has the worst customer service in the world. The owner has a shirt on that says general manager and he has the worst attitude ever. I reserved my truck and trailer almost two weeks in advance of my move. The night before the customer service agent called and confirmed that the trailer and truck would be ready at 7 am. I got there at 8 am. The owner left me and another customer standing at the counter for 30 minutes while he was outside doing god knows what. When he finally came in it took him another 30 minutes to fill a small propane tank. When he finally started to help me (hour after arriving) he asks me, what time are you picking up the trailer. Come to find out he had rented my trailer to someone else before I arrived.When I got upset his basically told me tuff s#!% and acted like it was somehow my fault/problem. I ended up in his store until 930 am and left with only a truck. I wouldnt of even rented the truck except that my wife had to get home to meet the movers. Long story short, I had to drive all thr way to ames with a 26 foot truck to get the trailer. I got home 2 hours after the movers. It ended up costing me 50 in gas, 200 for the movers to sit around and a half day of driving and waiting. Luckily the movers stayed and helped me get the truck loaded.This place has the worst service. Rent from another location.

We got the truck back to our house, shut it off for about 15 minutes. We needed to pull it forward a bit in the drive. It would not start. We spent over an hour and a half of our busy move day on phone trying to get a hold its someone and then getting to a resolution. The truck ended up being towed. It then took 2 days before we knew if we be charged/refunded for a truck we didnt get to use. The lack of maintenance on their end made a stressful move day worse. Not happy.

Customer Service was terrible. I walked into the store first and no one was in the store. A gentlemen walked in behind me to return his truck about 5 mins later the employee walked in and helped him first not kindly mind you. About 2 mins later another employee walked in that I had seen outside playing with his dog to help me. He did not greet me just asked my info did not take the time to explain things said sign this yada yada yada. Handed the keys over and left the store to go back outside and play with his dog. Very unprofessional atmosphere. UHAUL should check into this store before they lose anymore customers like me. If I am paying for a service I expect good service or I will take my money and service where it is appreciated.
