We’ve worked with Modern Mechanical in the past, so when our AC suddenly quit today, they were the first company we called. They are always very prompt, courteous, thorough, and knowledgeable. We called and left a message Sunday night and received a call Monday morning 8:30 and by noon Dan was at our home. We where having issues with the AC not shutting off. He was able to diagnose the issue and fix within one hour. Would definitely recommend this company.

Modern Mechanical is the best. Chad did the install of a new A/C and furnace this time but Ive used them in the past for all of my heating and cooling problems. They are always very fast, responsive, professional, affordable, and friendly. Ill never use anyone else in Des Moines.

Pre-appointment contact was excellent, from a week before, to a day before, to the day of the appointment! Chad was on time and ready to evaluate & perform the needed maintenance: He checked the system operation, cleaned the condenser coil, and even installed an air vent on the condensate drain to provide better flow! Ive had a lot of HVAC companies(hair salon/monthly maintenance) and Modern Heating and Air Conditioning hits it out of the park. They show up in a timely manner, and their staff is always courteous. The bill comes right away in my email, so Im not confused with a 60 day old invoice. And when I needed repairs everything was explained to me in a way that I could understand and the price was communicated to me before the work had begun.

My neighbor recommended them. Thought I might be having water heater issues. Tim came and checked everything out including my geothermal furnace. I went ahead and signed up for a yearly maintenance program. Tim was very nice, super respectful, and very knowledgeable. He definitely put my mind at ease. I would highly recommend them.

Modern sent me a text when, Chad, the technician was in his way. Included a short bio and a photo of him so we knew what and who to expect. Really appreciate this!!! We also appreciate greatly the fact that Chad put on shoe covers upon entering the house. Chad was very professional and courteous. He explained items in terms that I could understand and apply. Chad also provided details for ongoing service and care of the HVAC system. I would highly recommend Modern Heating & A/C. Crystal, the office scheduler that we first spoke to, was very empathetic and helpful to our situation. She listened intently to our needs and getting the technician out to service us. They crew arrived on time. They masked up and was prepared for the job. I was notified the name of the lead installer and a snip about his interests. They went above and beyond to install the new furnace/AC/ and water heater. They were polite and conscientious of their work. They worked very well as a team.

Chad came in and did his job efficiently, safely, and in a timely manner. My furnace went out in the middle of the night when it was just below 27 degrees. He came in the next morning and showed up an hour prior to the estimated time and finished the job. My home is nice and toasty again! Thanks Chad!

Update: 2/2/21 - We have decided to have them put in a new Daikin HVAC system. we are excited to get it installed and have our system working safely once again.----------------------------Tim was very professional and was honest with me about our furnace system and validated another companys assessment that the heat exchanger would need replaced which would ultimately mean the furnace itself being replaced. He wasnt pushy about it and took the time to understand our circumstance. he took an abundance of time to explain everything to me and go over every option that might help us. It did not feel like a pushy sales proposition. Assuming we can get good financing we do intend to have them replace our furnace and AC unit.

The entire process was wonderful. I took over 3 months to decide who was going to be my new HVAC provider. Jake the owner came out to my house multiple times, and was patient with all my questions. Good price for what seems like great equipment. I never got a salesy vibe from them at any point.The install happened yesterday. Took all day, but the crew was very respectful the whole time. The new furnace closet looks amazing, and the AC outside looks way better. Our house was warm, and the humidifier made the first night way more pleasant.I will be recommending them to anyone who asks. I am excited to see how the AC works.

The guys came out and got right to work replacing my AC unit and A coil from 1967. They cleaned up the duct work and made everything look clean and uniformed. They were respectful as I asked questions and stood in the way.

Kolten performed my annual HVAC service. The appointment time was 8-noon and he arrived around 8:40 am. Prior to his arrival, I received 2 messages from Modern Mechanical. One message was an introduction to the technician who was assigned my job. The second message was an alert that Kolten was on his way (he arrived about 10 minutes later). He was very professional, wore a mask and we kept a social distance through the introduction and during payment processing.I have used Modern Mechanical for years and will continue to use them and highly recommend them any chance I can. My wife and I had our furnace go out a few weeks ago. We had modern mechanical recommended to us by a friend, so we gave them a call. They were at our house within a half hour with a very nice and professional worker who quickly diagnosed the problem. We ended up needing an entirely new furnace and water heater, but they were able to come out and install it all for us the next day! They pointed out some ways that our previous water heater had been installed incorrectly, which meant that when one of the motors failed it could have risked exposing us (and our baby girl) to carbon monoxide leaking! Yikes! But they installed everything correctly for us, so we no longer have to worry about that problem! Everything was fast, professional, they were helpful in showing us how to operate our new unit. They also gave us a better price than anywhere else we looked. We could not recommend anywhere else more!

Always professional and on time, a great annual visit to make sure the system is working properly. (it was our fault to delay the annual service due to COVID19 in the house at the start of the heating season, so we delayed getting them out this year).

Our water heater went out over the weekend. This was the only company that would give me an estimate over the phone. I really, really appreciated that! We knew what our neighbor paid, so we had an idea and Modern came right at that amount. I understand it can be tricky to quote over the phone not seeing the unit but in the covid area, we didnt want to have multiple companies coming in. It has been 5 months since we got a new A/C and furnace and we have been extremely happy. Our house was nice and cool all summer long. The A/C unit did a great job at lowering the humidity in the house which allowed us to set the thermostat at a higher temperature than before and help save on our energy bill. Sleeping at night during the summer was incredibly comfortable. We have only had one chance to turn on the heat and it worked quickly and efficiently. We have had no complaints what so ever. We cannot thank Silas enough for spending the time to help us with our decision. One of the best and easiest experiences I’ve had giving someone my money. When my furnace quit working... I put a call out on facebook for recommendations. I initially called a competitor, who informed me I needed a new furnace - but was unable to come give me an estimate until the next day. I decided to call MM (who was recommended by three of my friends) to give me a bid as well. Silas came out THAT night at 7:30, and walked us through everything. He was very thorough, explained things in terms that were understandable, and didnt try to sell us something we didnt need. Modern Mechanical is the only name you’ll need to remember for your heating and cooling needs. During the heat wave of 2017 my AC unit had stop cooling my house. I wasn’t sure where to turn, so I called a couple different companies but they didn’t provide me much help between not being able to diagnose the problem and not showing up at all. I was very frustrated! Thankfully, I was referred to modern mechanical by another one of their customers, and they literally saved the day. They came right out and got the problem solved and my AC unit was back up and running in no time. I now have them come back a couple times a year to check and make sure things are running properly. I can’t say enough about their staff...every visit they are always friendly and can answer any questions or concerns you may have. Truly one of the best companies I’ve done business with.

Tim came out to check my system after it’s initial installation and again here a year later for a fall maintenance check. I always throw a lot of questions at service techs, and Tim is really good. He answers every question & has been very competent and thorough on each visit. I appreciate that kind of service - especially on a new purchase.

There is true concern for their customers and wanting to work with them for a lifetime. Very impressed.I also have to compliment Silas. He too reached out had a great conversation on how things could get better and many of the things at Modern have implemented will do that.Air Balancing - I also had Silas come out and do the air balancing to deliver the right amount of air to each room and reduce those rooms that are to hot and cold. He spent over 4 hours measuring and adjusting. We can already tell a difference. I would highly recommend air balancing Modern offers. I have already mentioned it to several people complaining they cant get this room or other warm or cold enough. Very impressive on what he can do.OLD - outdatedIt has been bugging me for some time that Modern Heating and Air Conditioning seem to be our for the quick sale versa being a partner in my heating and cooling. I have put in a couple unit over my home ownership and worked with several companies. I would say Modern has the worst after the sale follow up. Modern sold me a unit and I have never heard from them again. I dont know if it was because I didnt go for any of Silass up sales or they just move on to the next person. Now that Im ready to do my annual maintenance I will be looking for someone else to perform my annual check ups.That is my complaint. I did give them 2 stars only because I have been very happy with my heating and cooling unit. We have been much warmer this winter and cooler last summer. What they told us has come true with their product. I too would agree they were on time. Installed the unit quickly and cleaned up very well after the install.Modern need to work on making customer for life vs. making a sale.

Very happy with the service we received by Tim. Tim was onsite within 45 minutes of making an after hours call on our furnace. He diagnosed the issue was the blower motor needing replaced and since the issue wasnt urgent, he came back the next morning and made the repair to save us money over doing an after-hours repair. Billing was straight forward and fair. Thank you!

I called in with furnace issues during the last cold spell. After explaining my issues, Nick did some trouble shooting over the phone. He suggested giving it some time and seeing if that took care of it. Sure enough, problem solved! They easily could have sent someone out and charged us, but instead helped me over the phone first.
