We had our furnace go out so contacted our homeowners insurance company. The insurance company contacted Best Heating and Cooling and they called the same day. The lady who called (I wish I could remember her name...) was very nice and helpful, and seemed genuinely concerned with our issue. She setup an appointment for two days later. The technician was here in the first half of the time window. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem in a very short time and told us our 23 year old furnace was shot. After the insurance company got done messing around, Best called before the insurance company did to make an appointment for the installation. The gentlemen who put it in were just like the first person. They had the old one out and the new one in less than 8 hours.Overall the experience we had with Best was amazing! Will definitely use them in the future and Ive already referred them to friends and family.

6/16/21 Excellent Company. I have been using their service for 8 years. Always polite, professional and friendly. Dennis was the tech that came today, very nice and explained details of what the process contained. My dogs barked the whole time, but he likes dogs, so he was okay with that . I always offer service people a cold bottle of water, especially on hot says.The office staff was very friendly and professional too. Offered a great savings program for my future needs. I was able to get an appointment within 5 days. I just needed a cleaning maintenance this time, but I know I can count on them in a time of emergency too. I strongly recommend this business .

Came back from a trip to find that the AC was out. Not a pleasant surprise after a week out of state in 120F weather. James and Larry came out late on a Saturday to fix it for me. Ended up diagnosing a bug in the contactor. Literally. Problem was fixed that day and I got a great night’s sleep in a cool house. Also took the time to give the system a servicing. Always been very friendly and professional. Will definitely continue using.

Tim Walton was our technician. Our air conditioning had not been working for over a week in the middle of a summer heat wave. Tim knew right away what part we needed and worked quickly to get it ordered and installed. He was prompt, courteous, efficient and very knowledgable about our Geothermal system. The customer service provided by Tim Walton is why we will definitely use Best Heating, Cooling & Electric again!Tim came out and repaied a wiring problem on our Geo Thermal unit. Our air conditioner was running constantly but not cooling. Dennis from BEST came out and replaced the Capacitor. Dennis observed that someone had over filled the freon. He was able to reduce it to the proper amount, which made it run more efficiently . I appreciate him going the extra mile and also explaining what he was doing and why.

Tim, Duncan, and Ze did a great job, very pleasant and informative along the way. Tim was excellent to work with on the quote process and options that made sense for us! He is an excellent resource for the installation options. It was a nice clean installation and much improved looking and functioning job. We will use them for our future HVAC needs.

I have had best come out to fix my furnace multiple times and they are always polite and answer any questions I have. They also make sure that I know what they are doing. They are here when they say they will be and if they have to come back because what they fix stored working again ( witch only happened once) they were right back out here to see what happened and fix it as soon an they could get here. All around i trust this company more than others. They give out good reliable information about the questions I ask. 10 out of 10 will recommend to others.

Since contracting Best 2 years ago to replace our heating and cooling system, weve had very good experience with the regular maintenance service they provide. We had to call Best for an after hours issue on a cold November evening. The service surpassed all of our previous experiences. The technician, James, arrived quickly and was knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous. He took care of the issue, which was caused by a separate project, in a timely manner. Best is great to work with.

Had Best come out to fix my furnace. They showed up on time and did a fine job with the repair; quick and seems to be working now. But the lack of customer service is appalling. I tried to troubleshoot based on the manual they provided when they installed the furnace. The repair technician essentially blamed me for the problem and told me not to play with bombs, that I could have blown up my house. Then when he was leaving, I had a few questions about the repair. He half answered my questions and rushed out the door. I received zero paperwork about what was replaced or repaired.

I had fantastic experience with Best. We had ongoing issue that required two visits from a technician. Gretchen at the office was prompt and very responsive in getting the technician out to my house. The same technician came out both times, which was nice to see a familiar face. I cannot say enough about how great he was. He took his time to explain everything to me (twice!), and he even got down on the floor to show me around my furnace. I am so glad we have such a high quality HVAC company in the metro. I hope I dont need any services again, but if I do I will definitely be calling Best!

BEST Heating, Cooling & Electric was very helpful and timely when I recently had my furnace and air conditioning replaced. They communicated when there were schedule changes and completed the entire job in 1 day. I was very impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were. They even informed me about tips and best practices moving forward with my new equipment. Our air conditioning got fixed just in the nick of time yesterday before it got to hot! James Mickle had been out the week before and determined we needed a compressor. They set us up for Monday morning because they knew it was going to get hot this week. James came back out yesterday and did a fantastic job and we got to sleep in a cool house last night. They came out to fix our electricity in our finished attic. He said that it was a wire that wasnt connected properly in the ceiling fan. A week or so later we were vacuuming and the electricity went out again. I called and they scheduled an appointment for almost a month out because the electrician was supposedly out on vacation. I called the week prior to the appointment to confirm and it was confirmed. The electrician did not show up and no one called. I called back and was told I wasnt on the schedule! Now Im waiting almost another week until Monday for them to come out. Not to mention that he smelled like a pack of cigarettes and cigars when he was here on the initial visit! So frustrating!

Worst costumer service I have ever experienced. We havent had AC for a month thanks to this company and they want to blame my home warranty company but its not their fault. I left a voicemail on Friday, called and left another message yesterday around 12:45 and then contacted my warranty company to see if they knew what was going on but BEST didnt answer their calls or messages either. I finally got the receptionist Brandy on the phone before 5pm and when I asked why no one has returned my call she hung up on me and then continued to hang up or send me to voicemail each time I tried calling back. I admit I left an angry message demanding a call back after I was hung up on repeatedly but that was the only time I wasnt considerate when talking with these people. I checked the status of my claim with my warranty company this morning and they said BEST requested we transfer companies for repairs now. I tried calling BEST to talk to the owner but Brandy told me he wasnt there and then proceeded to SCREAM at me that if I ever call back she will call the cops on me for harassment. I was hoping to speak with the owner about the poor customer service I experienced and give him a chance to fix it before I left a bad review but I guess thats not an option*editing my review because a year later the owner responded with blatant lies about what happened. I did not call and hang up, your staff hung up on me and ignored my calls and my warranty company informed me that they had approved the work and you had the parts delivered and should have started the work and they werent able to get a reasonable answer for why you were putting it off for so long either so they set me up with a much better company which saved me a ton of money because I didnt even need to replace the whole unit like you guys told me I did and the other company fixed my issue within 15 minutes.

First of all theyre supposed to lift the furnace off the ground because of flooding you know like a raise and they skiped that they had to be told to come back out and fix it plus the intake they were going to leave it like that for two and a half weeks till they got back there and theyre supposed to come back the next day thats what they said but then the owner totally denied it plus the two guys that came out previous theyre just supposed to come out for furnace change and they were trying to take my air conditioner talk me out of it and I heard him over talking saying that the coppers worth a lot of money so their crooked business instead of best heating and cooling its worse heating and cooling

Best was timely and polite, but I cant help but think they lied right to my face in order to convince me to spend money.Best did a furnace check through my home warranty. I was shown pictures of a cracked heat exchange and he turned my heat off because it could lead to a CO leak. He didnt actually check for a CO leak.The home warranty sent a different company to do the actual repairs, and that man tested for CO throughout the house and found absolutely no leakage, which would be very impressive for a heat exchanger supposedly as cracked as mine.I have a CO detector installed, but I think Ill go ahead and leave my heat on, considering its the coldest weekend of the year.

Dennis came out to my property twice and was extremely helpful on both visits, both in diagnosing the problem and helping set up the system. I followed up with a number of e-mails asking for status of pricing as well as 2 phone calls to inquire about status. None of my communique was ever responded to. We had 3 estimates and BEST was by far the easiest company to work with during the estimate process. BEST was not the cheapest (only $324 higher) but was much easier to work with and seemed to really care. BEST showed up on time to estimate, the day they installed our new system and when them came back to do a follow-up and orientation on the system. BEST gave me a price immediately in writing. We had to wait 3 days for one company to email me a quote. The other company was 45 minutes late to the estimate and did not call us! BEST financed for 18 months without any interest. Me and my husband both feel we received more value for what we paid for. Highly Recommend!!

From the moment they arrived when our furnace failed, to the table conversation about options and financing, to the day when Heath and his son arrived to remove the old furnace and install the new one, we were absolutely impressed and pleased. We switched to Best a few years ago when we moved into a new house and have been pleased with every visit, including the fall check up we had today with James M who even took a few minutes to help calm down and socialize a little rescue puppy we recently adopted. Our last provider answered every call we made, which was plenty because the furnace they had sold us kept malfunctioning, with a nauseating How can we make your day better today. Best, meanwhile, simply gets the job done with no pretense. Definitely recommend them if you want service rather than platitudes.

YES WE HAVE AIR!! Thanks to the quick response team at BEST! Just moved in three months ago. The air went down on the hottest day of course. We have a home warranty but it really didnt cover much I glad I didnt pay for it. I wont renew it thats for sure. But after talking with the staff at BEST they took care of us. They installed a new furnace, A/C, Air Cleaner and Wifi Thermostat in a day and we had cool air that night. Im glad I found your company. Customer For Life!Update: We enjoy our system. Best came out and helped me out with my insurance nightmare. They gave me all my options had my estimate In hand b4 they left. It was so much more affordable than the other companies. I was able to add on things to help out with my families allergies so we could breath again. I never even knew the importance of the maintenance etc of the unit. Very unprofessional and unreliable. Called on Friday to schedule an appointment. Appointment was scheduled for Tuesday morning. When I called Wednesday to see why nobody showed up, I was greeted by a very unprofessional man named Jason. Jason informed me that his technician didn’t show up for work once again on Tuesday but nobody bothered to notify us. Instead of servicing the unit the next day, he wanted to reschedule for 2-3 weeks out. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have had this same issue with this company. It’s very simple to get a great review: show up and make repairs as scheduled!

They were honest about the problem and the cost to correct it was very reasonable. I then had then out this fall to check and service my furnace and again they were spot on. I have used this company for several years and have always been satisfied, but this last years winter cold snap, my furnace quit working. Im sure they were overwhelmed...But I had called on 4 separate occasions leaving sufficient info to make an appointment. Always got voicemail which is expected. I would have​ at least wanted a response, or a call back. I understand they were extremely busy at the time, but just a few seconds of a call to let me know​. Without heat for over a month I ended up reaching out elsewhere and was actually much cheaper. Now Im having issues with AC as many are going through, but I will contact a company that will at least will not keep me hanging.

I have never written a bad review but have also never been so appalled by a companys customer service. Our furnace went out on Sunday, November 10th, and we contacted our home warranty at that time. Im unsure when our information was actually passed on to Best HCE from our home warranty, but we did not hear from Best HCE until 2:00pm Monday, November 11th to set up an appointment from 3:00-6:00pm Tuesday, November 12th. In the meantime we had below zero temperatures overnight and had to find a place to stay for several nights and hope our pipes wouldnt freeze. The technician came and made the diagnosis during the appointment time on Tuesday. At the appointment he had to call the home warranty company for approval. The home warranty would not approve the work on the spot, so the technician had to leave and we would have to get another appointment once the home warranty approved the work. I completely understand this is not Best HCEs fault, and I had no issues with them up until this point. Our home warranty approved the work to be done at 8:00 am Wednesday, November 13th, so we had the go ahead to call Best HCE back and set up another appointment. My husband called several times throughout the day Wednesday and did not hear back until almost 3:00pm. I understand being busy, but someone could have called us much earlier than this. At that time we were told they could not come back to our house to fix the furnace until Monday, November 18th, so we would be without heat in this cold weather for 8 days. They had no openings Thursday and told us they had no technicians working Friday or on call for the weekend. How are there no technicians working on a weekday in this unseasonably cold weather?? My husband explained to them that I am 9 months pregnant, and we have to go into the hospital Sunday, November 17th to be induced. I will be in the middle of labor when they could finally come back to our house. The lady we spoke to Wednesday was very nice and said she would ask all the technicians when they were back if someone could squeeze us in the next day, but we never heard back Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. The only reason we spoke to them Friday was to tell them we found another company to come out right away. I understand Best HCE would have fixed it Tuesday if it wasnt for the home warrantys process. But it became unacceptable when we called over and over and wouldnt hear back for 6-7 hours. And then no one called to let us know if they were going to be able to work us in or not due to our situation. We just needed a warm house to bring our baby home to, and I thought we would be able to get a 2nd appointment sooner than 6 days after the first one.I have never been so disappointed in customer service and just horrible communication. I felt like we were treated second class because we are home warranty customers instead of regular customers. You would think they would treat all of their customers the same in order to have them as returning customers. Our home warranty only lasts a year, and we will definitely not be using Best HCE when we have a choice of who to work with.

I love these guys!! Every person that I have talked to there has been SO helpful. My air conditioner broke slightly over 2 weeks ago. Its been 95 degrees out this week and my home warranty is laughable. They did their very best to go out of their way to make sure they could get me taken care of with what they had to work with. My air conditioning unit is due to be repaired in two days and I cant wait. Im ecstatic with the service and diligence on their end!

James M. provided a fall furnace check, quieted the noisy furnace start-up, got the humidifier ready, and made sure the furnace was in top working order. BEST has provided all HVAC services at our house for 17 years and we have been satisfied with their work each time.AC compressor unit stopped working in July 2020 on a Thursday evening. James M. diagnosed the situation on Friday and started looking for the needed parts in an environment where replacement units are backordered up to 4 weeks. He and Dennis returned on Saturday, and in about 3 hours, installed a new compressor and got the AC back to working order to cool a house that was 85 degrees. When they left, one weather site said the outside temp was 94 and heat index was 111. Thanks for your dedication in helping a couple with health conditions get back in the cool.

I have a home warranty and our furnace went out on of all days January first! Our warranty company uses Best as their contractor in Des Moines. They did come out on the holiday in a timely fashion but did not call in the claim to the warranty company. So now I am stuck with a furnace that is only working part of the time in twenty degree weather until Jason their employee decides its in his best interest to call in my claim so the warranty company can make a determination on it and have them come out to replace my furnace. I have lodged a complaint with my warranty company and suggested maybe they look into finding a new, more professional contractor in Des Moines. I know there has to be one. I have serious doubts about the quality of work I will get if and when they come to replace my furnace. I am not pleased.01/05/2015 I received a phone call from Garrett at Best this morning and was advised he was recording the conversation. I would love to have a copy of that recording to take to the Better Business Bureau. Garrett was rude, yelled at me and then basically said Best heating and cooling was refusing to do the work on my furnace if I did not take down my negative review. I guess now I know how they maintain their four stars. Well, my warranty company is now cutting me a check to take to the company of my choice and they are forwarding my complaints to their department that handles maintaining their service provider relationships. Customer Service here is SERIOUSLY lacking and I for one will not be pushed around.

This company is shady at best. The worker was very nice, he agreed with all of my recommendations lol and the website said free diagnosis very misleading not that it should be free but that is what was posted with no follow up info except in the 3 paragraphs on the companys page( says the owner)The owner once I slowly walked him through how it was advertised he offered my money back in a snarky tone which I did no take. He said it was an advertisement issue, but he is the owner and approves all things in regards to his company. I will never go with a non, completely transparent company if they are sketchy on stupid things like that what else could they be sketchy on. Too bad to I was going to buy an air conditioner.

I have come to know Best H & C thru my last two home warranties as they are the choice company these warranty companies choose...and now I understand why … although it takes a little more patience in setting up an service call thru the warranty (by internet) once they are notified … of your call, Service was prompt and concise. Our home warranty company sent these clowns out to fix the furnace. Put in the wrong high limit switch and would not stand behind their service. Gave myself and our warranty company nothing but the run around about how their supplier got them the correct part. Correct parts should look like the old part and should not need modified to fit. I found an exact match with a 2 min Amazon search. All in all a horrible experience. If you are in the greater Des Moines area find somebody else.

They used smaller than called for copper pipe and didnt put in the proper condensate drain for our water heater. After attempting to contact them directly, have now gone through BBB. Their response to my complaint was full of misinformation as to what actually happened in our exchange, including actually lying about my having authorized them repairing the unit and having setup an appointment to do so. I in no way shape or form would ever recommend Best for anything. Unless you are game for cut corners with gas pipes and lies.

Had Best Heating, Cooling and Electric come out to replace an attic fan (via an American Home Shield warranty request). Was charged $125 just to have the tech look in the attic and determine he could not get to the unit to fix it. I was charged for 90 minutes of work which also included the tech having a smoke break in his truck prior to starting his service call. Tech couldnt even close my attic access door. Too bad I can not attach that picture. I have to pay another $240 for modifications in order for the fan to be replaced. Guess I will go back to Keul Electric Service since they had no problem fixing the attic fan in 2008 and wont be charged an additional $240.

Called both last year and again this year for inquiry about a service for my HVAC. I was only greeted with rudeness. I never received follow up calls to schedule the service. I am now glad that they did not service my HVAC, as after speaking with neighbors who have used them in the past have informed me that their work is subpar, customer service is unprofessional, and the owner is known to be dishonest. Be careful about letting this company into your home!*Updated for response from owner*Not a competitor, just an unsatiafied patron giving my honest review. That accusation is unprofessional.

I have not only one success story but two regarding Best HCE.Our A/C went out last month (Iowa - 105 degree heat index). It was 93 degrees in our house! My (former) contracted company showed up and couldnt fix the problem because I couldnt accurate describe noises the A/C made before it failed! They even had the nerve to charge me though they couldnt diagnose it and told me to call them again if it came on but failed.So, I called my home warranty company and they dispatched BEST. They showed up within a couple hours of that call and the guy didnt care what noises it made - he just went to work, pulled out some parts and discovered the bearings wore out in less than 15 minutes.In 2 hours our house was back to perfectly cooled (they even topped off our refrigerant) and my wife, kids, disabled mom and myself were back to healthy temperatures in our own home.I didnt fine out until he was leaving that the fella that fixed the problem was the owner - Jason. He was a hard-working, get-r-done guy.Today, water was pouring out of our furnace all over the place - and I didnt know what to do. I called BEST because I told the warranty company I wanted them. They agreed. BEST couldnt get here until morning (our State just had severe storms roll through - everyone was backlogged).The guy at BEST walked me through several troubleshooting steps over the phone and I was able to fix the problem myself (condensation drain pan was clogged and spilling over inside the exchange unit).BEST helped me solve my problem in case it was too pressing to wait until morning over the phone!THAT, my friends, just earned them this glowing review and a household of loyal customers.They say its hard to find good service like what used to be. BEST still has it.

We have had nothing but EXCELLENT experience with BEST HEATING, COOLING & ELECTRIC. Our relationship with BEST began in 1996 for some electrical work, through the years they have been an excellent service provider. We have purchased a Gas Water Heater from them with same day installation. We just had a new AMANA HEATING AND AIRCONDITIONING SYSTEM installed. When we signed the contract bid they promised us heat by end of business on 11/1/17, the equipment and installer arrived at 9:15 am on 11/1/17 and at 3:11pm on 11/1/17 we had heat. They completed the install today 11/2/17 and left everything very neat and tidy. I was instructed on all equipment. My home warranty company uses them. I spoke to a lady here and explained my problems in detail. I said I have no air flow and discovered there is insulation in the duct work that needs to be removed. I asked if they could help with that and she said yes and scheduled and appointment. The repair man called on his way and I again explained the problem to him as he was headed out in case I missed him. He never said at that time they didnt clean duct work. He looked at the problem, confirmed they were full of insulation and needed cleaned in order to get air flow to the bedroom. I said ok when can you do that and he replies by telling me that they dont do that work. SO, the lady on the phone and the service man both knew what the problem was and still set up an appointment and came knowing they didnt do the work I needed done. They get the $75.00 service fee from me and I get screwed by them. After reading the reviews on this place I can not believe they have business. Good thing they are linked up with the home warranty company and can make money by deceiving and ripping people off that way.Apparently they needed that $75.00 worse then me. Im glad I could pay you to tell me what I already told you. Thanks!

The low rating reviews on here are on point with the level of professionalism. Weve had best install a unit in our home and felt we needed to use them to service it when there were any issues. More than one interaction has left me wholly unimpressed with the way they treat customers. Anywhere from the personal interactions and the way they communicate, to the false promises I received on timeliness of job completion. I would never recommend them to anyone.Even if a company performed very well in getting the job done from a technical standpoint, would you really want to interact with someone who didnt respect you as a customer? Pass on this one.

We had several electrical problems at the house and after contacting the warranty company, they assigned this company to fix it. Two electricians were knowledgeable and were able to identify the problem and fixed it over one week period. The problem we experienced with this company was their customer service. I stopped by their office to address several outstanding issues with the paperwork, but their rep got agitated and started shouting, and running at me trying to get me out the door. It was extremely unprofessional and simply unacceptable. As part of my job duties, I deal with many businesses but I encountered this kind of inappropriate behavior only with this company. I sent email to the owner of the business over a week ago describing the encounter but has not heard anything back.
