These guys are awesome! My family and I have been coming to them for years, and especially love how they will only do repairs that are necessary and make sure that were always very informed as to what were spending our money on. Oftentimes they let us about upcoming repairs that will be needed in the future so we can start saving and planning for it and very rarely get caught off guard with needed repairs. Great work guys, thanks for all you do.

Short version: I had the strut assemblies (shocks and springs) in the front end of my vehicle replaced at Hotchkiss Auto. The service advisor Nikki was my point of contact, and I found her knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and a good communicator. The result is no more noise in the front; sounds WEIRD being so quiet when I ride over rough pavement..Long version: I had already had this work done (for about $1000) at a reputable garage about a 1000 miles and 4 months earlier. But there was something wrong: I was still hearing noises. They said sure, bring it back in, but before I got there the owners retired and the shop evaporated, so I had no recourse with them. Another mechanic identified the problem, that the new struts were rubbing against the wheel well, but all they could do is redo the work with new parts ... for another $1000. I tried Hotchkiss, and when I mentioned to Nikki that I wanted the old parts so I could try to get something out of the parts distributor, she said `oh, we use them, I can talk to them. I didnt expect much, but in fact it turns out that the new struts I had were not to the right specifications. It isnt clear exactly why, but Nikki was able to get that distributor to pay for most of my work. There was another iteration in the story, as following the distributors app she was STILL sent the wrong size strut, but the Hotchkiss people noticed that before installation and were able to get the right one (which SHOULDNT have been the right one, if you believed the distributors website - Go figure!). Anyway, props to Nikki for sticking with this, volunteering to try to resolve this on my behalf, and for being successful. Oh, and the car feels great! Color me .... a Happy Camper.

The service is always fantastic here! It is an honest and reputable shop, and wont over sell you on things you do not need. Will has worked on multiple vehicles for me and my family and his work is always spot on. This shop is very busy, but they always stay in communication and finish the job in a timely manner. Definitely recommend them to all that need any repairs.

Nikki was my Service Writer. She was professional, courteous, and timely. I brought the vehicle in for an oil change and full vehicle inspection, including checking manufactures recommended 120,000 mile maintenance. She let me know up front what the cost for the oil change and inspection would be then let me know that they would contact me with any maintenance they recommended. Turns out the car is in really good shape, didnt recommend anything I didnt need or wasnt actually due; only suggested a few minor things that I already knew needed attention. Ive taken my vehicle in 3 times now and always come away satisfied; never a sudden problem that wasnt apparent before bringing in and never a problem a few days after service (which all too often is the case with other shops). Went in for an alignment which they got done just fine. When I left Hotchkiss with my truck, the turn signals didnt work. They worked when I brought it in hours before. I called them up and asked what happened and they said they worked fine when they test drove the vehicle.I asked if they were willing to figure out what their mistake was and they said that I would have to pay for a diagnostic. Im not going to pay someone to fix a mistake that shouldnt have happened in the first place.Extremely unprofessional. Now I get to spend my time fixing their mess. Thanks guys

Both my husband and I have used this company for probably 7 years and I almost don’t want to write this review because it’s a little gem that I kind of want to keep to myself. Legit great people who care about your work. Honest and quality too. Honest prices. We actually moved to a not so convenient location to get our car worked on and still refuse to switch mechanics. This was our second time using Hotchkiss for some work on our aging cars. Had a great experience both times. Very responsive and transparent with pricing and the work was done efficiently. We had a difficult schedule and needed our car back ASAP and despite not being able to start our repair until ~3pm, they managed to get our part and repair completed before closing at 6pm. Steve was a great help, professional and communicated clearly with us throughout the day to keep us updated. Overall, we have been really happy with the work done by Hotchkiss and will be continuing to use them for all our repairs!

Steve was great. Very patient with me even though I kept calling to check on my car lol. It took a couple days and It was longer than expected. But he handled it very well me being in customer service I could tell he was doing his absolute best. I would come here again. He also stayed late to wait for me to come get my car. I really appreciated the quickness of getting me in, getting it fixed, and amazing service!

Hotchkiss took care of our cars issue at a fair price. In fact, the final bill came in slightly under their initial estimate. All employees I worked with were honest and friendly. This is the best shop for quality and honesty (which is hard to find). I recently took my car to a different shop because I broke down near it, and the other shop absolutely tried to fleece me. I called hotchkiss and they were honest, direct, and they performed the repair for half the cost. I do believe that Hotchkiss is as honest and professional as they come. They’ve done great work on numerous major repairs. A+ work every time!

As a young woman who admittedly doesnt know a ton about cars, auto shops can sometimes be intimidating. But at Hotchkiss, this was not the case. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and informative! I came in for an oil change, brake fluid replacement, and thought I might need new brake pads as well. A less reputable shop couldve have told me I needed to replace my brakes and gotten the extra money. Hotchkiss not only let me know that my brakes had many more miles left on them, they gave me the exact measurements and even explained the what difference between the front and back pad measurements meant. I have rarely experienced this level of going above and beyond at other garages.The prices were reasonable and they were very up front about the costs, which I appreciated. I will definitely be coming back to Hotchkiss for all my car maintenance needs!

Everyone’s experience can be different, but as someone who admits to knowing little about vehicle maintenance (sorry dad) and feeling lost when it comes to this area, Hotchkiss was very helpful. I had an issue with my car, rattling noise, something felt weird, etc. They were able to get it taken care of and showed me the parts, explained what was replaced and why, and I just felt confident that I had been given all the correct information. My boss’s husband recommended to check them out since he’s been going to them for years and I can vouch for the quality and customer satisfaction. They’re also pretty quick compared to my previous mechanic experiences where I’d leave my vehicle there for days (5 to 10) and with Hotchkiss it’s never taken more than 48 hours. I’ve switched to here for everything now, oil changes, maintenance, repairs etc and don’t regret it at all.

Starting with the young lady who answered the phone, Nicky was extremely helpful in asking management for answers for me as well as quoting pricing and setting the appointment...she is very good at what she does! My repair was reasonably priced, performed in a timely fashion, and ready when I expected it to be. When I picked up I had a chance to briefly speak to the owner or manager and left feeling like everyone there cares about providing excellent customer service and quality work. They definitely have my business!

BEWARE!!!I walked in to schedule an appointment for service as it’s first come first serve. I explained that I have a Blue Driver diagnostic tool and have found that I have codes P0171 and P0174 codes(lean condition) and that I have a long term fuel trim of 25%(fuel is being added to the engine) at idle. Everything I had researched pointed to a vacuum leak. I told all this information to the gentleman behind the counter(who I believe is the owner). My exact words were “ hopefully it’s just a vacuum leak. “ I scheduled my 1998 Ford Club Wagon van to be dropped off at 8am. After receiving a call that they had diagnosed the problem being my exhaust manifold gaskets, I said I would be right there to discuss the diagnosis.The girl behind the counter attempted to point out the exhaust manifold gaskets as the problem. I began to ask the tech what tests he had performed. He said there were no vacuum leaks. I explained that my long term fuel trim was 25% at idle which means the computer was adding extra fuel to the engine to compensate for the lean condition. He said I was wrong. I explained it again. He then told me a negative condition would mean that my engine was receiving more fuel. At that point I knew it was time to GET MY VEHICLE OUT OF HERE!!!I was willing to listen to the supposed experienced person in the front. After explaining the whole situation he was still trying to convince me that the manifold gasket repair was the correct diagnosis.I asked him “ If I fix the gaskets, that will 100% solve my problems? ”He replied “ Nothing is 100%, but yes. You seem like a pretty knowledgeable guy. Maybe you want to fix the gaskets yourself and let us know if it fixes the issue. “I then replied, “I can’t believe I have to ask this. Is the tech working on my vehicle even ASE certified? “He replied “ He’s certified in SOME THINGS. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! (ASE mechanics must work in the field for 2 years after passing the test to be considered certified)At that point I said “ GET MY VEHICLE DOWN NOW!! Charge me for whatever diagnosis costs you have. “They did not charge anything for the wrong diagnosis at least but I had a feeling something else could be wrong. I checked under my hood and behold a plastic cover was just sitting there not in the correct place. Not only did they give me the incorrect repair but they actually created more work for me to fix their mistakes.After bringing my vehicle to a reputable repair shop and giving them the same information, they performed a SMOKE TEST which is the proper procedure for a suspected vacuum leak and low and behold….wait for it….IT WAS A VACUUM LEAK!!!!! Nothing has been done to my manifold gaskets and my long term trim is back down to zero. 100% effective repair.TO REVIEW:Didn’t listen to the customerIncorrect diagnosisReinforced the wrong repairsTold customer to perform wrong repairs themselvesNon certified techs (not mechanics)Incorrect reassemblyDirty fingerprints left on dog houseNOT QUALITYIf the owner or shop does decide to respond to this review, specifically point out where I lied or misrepresented myself. I had the best experience using Hotchkiss Auto Repair for my 2017 Jeep. Right away I was welcomed by a woman named Nikki. I honestly do not know much about cars, Nikki walked me clearly through everything that was going on with my car and how Hotchkiss will fix my battery issues. I have never felt so relaxed and up to speed on what I was putting my money towards. 10/10 recommend. They fixed my car wonderfully and I could not say thank you enough for someone like Nikki to walk me through each detail on what was going on.

I am not usually motivated to write reviews, but I know how difficult and a bit scary it can be to find a auto repair garage you feel you can really trust. Two people had recommended Hotchkiss to me, so I felt reassured to start with. They were wonderful. I go back and forth between Denver and the Mountains a lot. My jeep started shaking in idle and I was worried to drive it up to the mountain. I needed to drive up in a few days. The dealer I often go to said they couldnt get me in for TWO WEEKS - even though I told them I thought my car had a potentially serious issue that might soon make it undriveable. Tony at Hotchkiss got me in the day after I called. Was very clear along the way about costs. The garage diagnosed and made repairs all in one day! I also just love the physical aspects of the garage. Its a beautiful building (when do you ever say that about an auto repair garage) and they have a very homey waiting area. The few people I dealt with were friendly and courteous.

Did a great job replacing the engine in my Jeep. Professional, quality work at a reasonable price.

Several times I brought my vehicle to this garage, and several times they had to hold it over night just to return it with a large price tag and none of the problems fixed. Charged me $100 to change a fuse, vs actually fixing the problem of a broken fuel pump. Charged me to recharge A/C but never diagnosed or fixed leaks. Constant holds on my vehicle for over 3 days to return it and absolutely nothing has been done to it. Forget this small shop and keep looking. This is a cash grab operation and you will regret brining your vehicle here.

Hotchkiss has consistently performed great every time.This is not a turn and burn repair shop; they stay busy taking care of their customers and giving each vehicle personalized expertise, so be aware that depending on the repair and availability of parts needed, the job may take a few days. The wait is always worthwhile because you can be sure that the work is correct and no corners were cut.Their building is unique, and the front office area is organized and tidy. My experience with the employees has always been positive.Theyre patient and listen to what I have to say about my car when I bring it in, rather than dismissing or making me feel like my observations dont matter to them.I highly recommend Hotchkiss for their friendly demeanor and excellent repair work. Customer service was wonderful. Very fast turn around for my power steering pump replacement. Thought it would take a week but it was finished in one day. I highly recommend this place.

As a woman, walking into auto shops can be super intimidating. This one just felt...different! The building itself is made of a charming old brick and was decorated with vintage gas pumps and signs. The front door leads you into a large, open room with a well-lit waiting room on one side and 4 desks with professionally-dressed employees waiting to help you on the other (bonus: one of them was also a woman!). Every person I spoke to was very friendly and helpful and the vibe definitely felt more relaxed than some other shops Ive been to. My vehicle was in and out very quickly, the price was fair, and I didnt feel like they were telling me to fix things just because I may not know any better. I felt comfortable driving my car out of the lot because this local, family-run business assured me my car was safe and bet their reputation on my positive experience. I will definitely be coming back!

Excellent, honest auto repair! Took my truck in to get an alignment after hitting a pothole and finding my steering wheel was no longer straight. I was advised that there may be other damage to the suspension, but luckily Nikki called to tell me that all it needed was a few standard adjustments and everything else was in good shape after inspection. Even got my vehicle back the same afternoon I dropped it off! Not your run of the mill shop that tries to sell you stuff that isnt needed. Ill definitely be back for any of my other car needs!

I was staying at the motel across the street from this auto repair shop , One day I was kind they just minding my own business walk my dog and he decided to drop a deuce, I didn’t have a bag so I was going back to the hotel to grab one and return back to pick it up and before I even made it to my room the phone was ringing I could hear it, it was the front desk saying that this auto dealership had called and told them that I had not picked up the dog poop in it they saw me leave it there. Thankfully my partner answer the car and took care of that because I was already out the door to go pick up the dog Pooh, most people would find this quite rude or all up in my business, But I think that’s what this kind neighborhood is in need of. I appreciate that neighborhood poo watch, And I’ve seen nothing but cars doing their garage and cars came out of the garage, because right now I’m totally spying.No but for real they seem like good people and not all shady auto dealership

I brought my car in recently to find out why I was having a fuel pump problem. That very day I got it diagnosed and a breakdown of labor and parts cost. While I waited for parts to ship, they were kind enough to leave my car in the garage to keep it nice. The price was more than fair and the work was absolutely excellent. Have been bringing our vehicles to Hotchkiss for 15 years. Always have good experiences and can rely on Hotchkiss for an honest assessment of what is best for our vehicle and us. Recently Hotchkiss noticed a leak in our timing case cover just as our vehicle went out of warranty coverage on the drive train. They sent us to the dealer to see if we could get Ford to help us out. They cared about us not just their bottom line. Ford came through for us and contributed to the repair. Thanks Hotchkiss. That type of customer first service will keep us coming back and sharing our feelings around town.

Well, suddenly had a massive oil leak.So I took it to Hotchkiss Auto Repair in the morning. Turned out it was the Oil-Pressure-Sending unit and hose... Which I couldnt see because it was in an inaccesible spot on the engine. They fixed it and did an oil and filter change and now it doesnt leak anymore. Got it back by early afternoon! Good job! I like them!!!

I cant recommend Hotchkiss more! They are so friendly and communicative. I took my car in due to a broken starter and they had it repaired in a day. They offered other maintenance and services that needed to be done but were never pushy about additional services.

Our specialty shop in Lakewood loves working with the total car care team at Hotchkiss Auto. They are courteous, highly competent and fairly priced. Only criticism is they are very busy so sometimes they have to turn down work or cant assist our customers immediately. Nevertheless, great to have honest and capable partners in the industry!

I have a small fleet of vehicles that Hotchkiss keeps running for me. They were there for me before the pandemic, during it and eventually in the future. Trust them, they actually know what they are doing.

Everyone here is so kind and helpful! They do a wonderful job and they are actually affordable as well! Theyre clear and honest about what does and doesnt need to be repaired, and I feel a lot safer going on long trips knowing that theyve given my car a once over.

I went in for what I considered very serious issues involving my ABS and Transmission, but the professionals here found the electrical problems and repaired my engine water pump without breaking my bank. If you happen to be reading this and have a vehicle in need of repairs I suggest you drive an extra 10 feet to All Pro Auto Repair. Hotchkiss charged me 60 dollars just to inspect it and didnt even reach a proper diagnosis or pinpoint the smell of my engine. APAR looked at my vehicle for free and had called me not even an hour later. These guys seem dope and very professional, but from my experience the next door company gave me a better experience and I think more people would have better luck over there.

Honest, reliable, and the lead times have been much shorter lately, which is greatly appreciated.

I used to trust and respect this shop (customer for my last 3 vehicles). I even continued to use them after moving much further away because I had had good experiences and trusted the work. The last couple of years the front office staff has seen a lot of turnover. Theyre condescending, rude and nickel and dime you for every diagnostic test, regardless of difficulty, time involved, or if youre having the work done there. Ive received many service recommendations for additional work for things that were typed up on the invoice given to me, but not saved in their system requiring them to need to pull the hard copy!? The staff was uninformed of vehicle history, even though its in their system. They clearly couldnt be bothered to review it. I recently had service for an alternator diagnostic and replacement. I was 99% sure it was the alternator. After I picked the car up and drove away, I discovered the radio was not working and they admitted to failing to even test it. While it seems that perhaps this is a minor issue, I expect to receive the service I feel Im being charged a premium for. If you deserve the diagnostic fee, I would expect comprehensive checks of electrical components affected by said service.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! They are friendly, honest, timely and fair - I always know when I leave my car that it is in the best hands and I will not be ripped off. I will never take my car anywhere else!

I got a used Toyota this summer through a private sale. I took the car to a Toyota dealer to get a full inspection, and they recommended several maintenance repairs. The quote was astronomical, and I decided to get a second opinion.I live in the East Colfax area and decided to see if there was anything nearby. I came across Hotchkiss, and realized that I had been driving by it for years. The reviews were really good, so I decided to give them a try. I am very happy that I did! They were able to prioritize the repair needs, and many of them were MUCH cheaper than the dealer.Beau is great to work with, and does an excellent job of explaining things in laymans terms. We agreed the first thing to fix was my brakes. I planned to drop my car off the night before, but when I went to start it, I realized the battery was dead. My car was pulled too far in the driveway for my wifes car to jump it. We called Beau to let him know that we would have to go buy portable jumper cables, and would likely have to reschedule as it was almost closing time. He asked where we lived, and realized it was only a few minutes away. Beau went above and beyond by coming to our house and jumping my car so that I could keep my appointment. He not only saved us money, but he also saved us time and a lot of hassle!Everyone at Hotchkiss is very friendly and professional, and they truly do offer reasonable rates, along with excellent service. They also do a great job of following COVID protocol. I will happily take my car to Hotchkiss any time I need work done, and I highly encourage others to give them a chance as well!Ben & Holly

The bill was much less than quoted. And the repairs were done faster than expected.

With no advance appointment, I limped into Hotchkiss after my cars check engine light went on and the car itself was barely moving. Beau got back to me VERY quickly with a blown transmission diagnosis. Although I did not have any service done to my car at Hotchkiss, I was very impressed with the shop itself. I will keep them in mind for sure for future referrals and any car maintenance I may need done in the future.

Awesome experience at Hotchkiss! I dropped off my car for a tune-up since I just passed 150,000 miles. They called to discuss what would be needed before they started (lots of new belts), but then when they opened up my Traverse, they decided that she was in great shape and called to recommend that I NOT replace as much as we had initially agreed upon. Every other shop would do all the unneeded work just to get paid! It ended up costing me half of what I anticipated. The quality of work was superb; the staff was super friendly and flexible. I plan on being a customer for life and recommending anyone need car rapair.

Very disappointed!!! I believe Tony was who helped me over the phone when I made my appointment and when I brought my Tahoe in to get a diagnostics done. Definitely dont think they should have Tony quoting any customers on pricing for a diagnostics. I have brought 4 of my vehicles here for maintenance and have always been satisfied w/the quality of work and staff. I have even recommend my friends and family here, until now. I took my 2004 Tahoe in to have my AC looked at because it was only blowing out hot air, I also wanted the dash cluster replaced, my lock on the driver side door needed replaced, maybe my breaks too and possibly my remote start because it was no longer working. Tony said for them to look at my Tahoe and see what all was needed would cost $450!!! Lol!!! What a joke! That $450 does not include any parts or repairs! The $450 is just for them to look at the Tahoe to see what all is needed and quote me on pricing for parts, thats it! Needless to say, I did not leave my truck w/Tony. I told Tony I wanted to talk w/the owner. Tony said the owner was not in but he would have him call me. That never happened. I will never bring another vehicle back here nor will I recommend anyone else to bring their vehicle here all because of Tonys outrageous quote for a diagnostics and horrible customer service skills.

Do not take your vehicle to this place. I paid almost $7000 for a new motor just to have to take it back and fight with them to fix it for free since the motor was under warranty. Plus these guys charge way more then most shops and their quality of work is subpar since I had a oil leak. Even after my car was supposedly fixed I still had to take it to another shop for it to be fixed correctly

I have been taking my last two BMW Z4s to Hotchkiss for years, working with Tony. I had been previously going to Cos BMW in Loveland. They were very good, but I had moved to Denver downtown where the dealership doesnt get as good of reviews. I found Hotchkiss, and they have proven to meet my high expectations on quality of work, transparency, honesty, professionalism, prices, etc.I really enjoy working with Tony and plan to continue to take all my vehicles to Hotchkiss and refer my friends to them for as long as they keep up the great work and Im in the Denver area!

Sent my 73 Nova in with an electrical problem, was diagnosed quickly. They checked out the entire car and found a few other minor problems. All other issues that were found were communicated and priced up front so there were no surprises. Picked up today, took the longest route home that I could. Even though HAR was scheduling appointments a week out, they managed to install a new battery and make a preliminary quick check of my venerable cars electrical system yesterday, for a reasonable charge -- no pun intended. I had my Land Rover towed there yesterday after a baffling electrical issue that I was unable to resolve. Getting the tow was the toughest part with the company sending the equivelant of a Yugo tow truck to drag my Land Rover, that is a review in itself. The people at Hotchkiss were able to squeeze me in and had my car epaired less than 24 hours after dropping it off. They even felt a little guilty that the parts were soo expensive and took some money off the final bill. In short a great place that is clean and run by honest people.

Friendly staff who got my repairs completed quickly and at a fair price given the quality of the parts and service. Ill be back!
