Krystle was the leasing agent for the apartment we purchased last November. Krystle was extremely helpful, open, transparent, and reliable through the whole process. Krystle demonstrates compassion for the residents, and understood our needs from the very first conversation. She has guided us on ideas on how to better utilize the space and was always available to answer our questions.Consistency is important when making a big decision to move and Krystle made that transition seamless. We get to appreciate Krystle even more now as a wonderful resource which is another perk of living in this community. I would highly recommend this community due to the wonderful staff!

Krystle Grisaitis the assistant community director is one of the most professional, hard working, honest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Made everything from moving in and unfortunately, moving out, seamless and easy. We loved living there very much. We are very grateful to Krystle for her willingness to help us in our situation. She never ignored my calls or emails and there were a lot! She was always the most courteous, pleasurable, and understanding person to deal with. Afton ridge is a beautiful place to live very convenient, private, clean and beautiful. I would move back there again. Thank you Krystal for all your support.

My husband and I have just signed another renewal lease at Century Afton Ridge. I want to tell you what a wonderful place this has been for us all these years! The office staff, Nancy, Krystle and Candace, are the absolute best. They are always super friendly and will help you with anything. Maintenance is fantastic! Mr. Jim and the others are great. Mr. Jim can fix anything and always does it with a smile on his face. And he always cleans up behind himself. The grounds are always clean and the landscaping is beautiful. I cant say enough positive things about our experience at Century Afton Ridge over these past 5 years. If you are looking for a living experience that is more than just an apartment, Century Afton Ridge is the place to be!

Candace is the absolute best. When I first came into town looking for an apartment she was warm and eager to assist. She walked me through the process and provided me with all needed information to apply. I looked around at a few more places but she continued to follow up. I applied and within a few days I was advised I was approved. Candace kept in contact with me via email. Anytime I reached out to her she responded within 20-30 minutes. Once I moved in, everything had been taken care of which made my move a lot smoother. Candace has checked in, reached out to make sure everything was going well and she answers any questions I have. My reason for moving to this location is because of Candaces professionalism, eagerness to help and her kindness. Thank you Candace for everything.

To start: If you are interested in moving here, Nancy, Krystle, and Candace help to make the transition effortless. The property is ALWAYS well maintained (the landscaping is great), the pool is cleaned daily and open, the community is safe and quiet, and the location is undeniable. The management does not tolerate persons breaking community rules and it swift in action to unseat those who do not abide. That in itself is gratifying. This keeps the good tenants staying and alleviating those who do not wish to keep this community in good standing. If there are any maintenance issues, the staff is swift to resolve the issue and have things in proper working condition.Outstanding place to move, and call home

Krystle was a phenomenal representative for this property as she was so positive and welcoming, was extremely knowledgeable not only about the property and company but of the city and surrounding areas. Management does not return phone calls or emails. We have to beg to get most things taken care of. Our dishwasher stopped working last December. Since then they’ve replaced it many times ignoring the fact that it is probably a plumbing issue. We have tried to be patient as we understand that running an apartment complex is complicated but we are frustrated. We are great renters and have done our part and we feel disregarded completely. We also have water damage that has yet to be fixed. Very disappointed.

I was so impressed by my visit to Century Afton Ridge in Concord. My wife and I are looking for a 2bdr appt in November. Candace was the leasing agent and she was great! She gave us a tour of the property back in June, she said she did not have pricing for our time frame but has been giving my wife and I updates. We have some friends who currently live there who referred us to Candace, but I wanted to acknowledge the professionalism and attentiveness that Candace provided. I highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a great location and a beautiful property.

Firstly, throughout my year here Kassie in the office was fantastic with anything that we ever needed, from move in all the way to move out.The apartments are gorgeous (we were in a smart home which had awesome features) and the community is pretty and fairly well kept by the maintenance crew. We had few issues with mechanical issues in the unit, and any time we did have an issue it was resolved quickly. The facilities such as the gym, pool and office are very nice and well kept as well. The community is in a fantastic area. It is super safe and located centrally to so many things that makes living here super convenient. In spite of my 5 stars, there are some issues with the community, but they pertain mostly to the residents, which I cannot fault the apartment complex for. However, do keep in mind that many college-age people live in the complex and they can be quite lout and obnoxious. We lived below a herd of elephants for a year (despite them being the only issue in the whole building.) But, all the people on these reviews blaming the apartment for bad residents and dropping stars must not understand how apartments work. The only other issue I can think of is that no one picks up after their dogs. But, again, you cannot blame the apartment for the lack of decency of people. However, in common areas the maintenance and lawn crews are good about picking up after people. Though, you will find areas of the complex less travelled by staff where bad tenants have deemed a good spot to have their dogs go.Lastly, I wanted to mention that due to a job transfer we had to move out 2 months early. I was willing to pay out my lease per the agreement, but within a week of us vacating they had filled our space so we didnt have to pay anything extra. It was super convenient for us and diluted a ton of stress while moving. If I ever move back into the Concord area, this complex will remain at the top of my places to live. Overall, it was a great experience living here.

I will start off by saying that the apartment themselves, and the community, are beautiful. Theyre spacious, with updated amenities, and its great that were within walking distance to a full shopping center. Maintenance also showed up to our unit within minutes to fix our A/C, so that was very nice, too.The problem lies in the noise. We live below a group of people who invites a child over rather often, and allows said child to run up and down the apartment all hours of the day and night. Its a mixture of bad padding bergen apartments to minimize noise, and these people just being blatantly rude. It has both woken us up and kept us from sleeping, and my managers have raised questions about it after hearing it over my headset during work. We have put in multiple complaints, and sent in video recordings, but were reminded of the quiet hours, despite voicing our concerns that it is literally disrupting our day to day lives. So, we are not renewing our lease. Its unfortunate, because we really do enjoy being here any other time, and the apartments are close to everything we need, but the constant frustration of having to deal with stomping, running, and what sounds like full on jumping off beds and wrestling is not worth the money we pay.

Out of the four years I lived in the Charlotte area, the eight months I spent at Century Afton were some of the best months of my time in North Carolina. The units are quite nice for their price, the general property is pretty clean, the community is pretty friendly, and the accessibility to the Afton Ridge shopping center as well as the pond behind the property were nice touches. To be treated so poorly by this apartment complex and to also be accused of things I didnt do and to never get an apology for the treatment I received? Overall very nice community. The pool is great and the amenities are nice. The staff, in my experience, has been responsive and helpful. The neighbors can be loud, but I think thats expected with apartment living. I wish my unit had been cleaned better before moving in and I wish the air filters had been changed - especially because the previous resident had an animal. The mail room can get overwhelmed with packages and my items are placed on the wrong shelves so that can be annoying. For the price, Im happy here.

I lived at Century for 3 years and recently moved out. Management changed a few times over the years, and I found that the newest staff is, to be blunt, simply incompetent. They never answer the phone, rarely reply to emails, and never get things done when they say they will. Tenants are moving in and out all the time, and I’ve definitely seen an uptick of people doing drugs and being distributing to their neighbors (mostly screaming and fighting at late hours of the night). Although I loved the location, I am very happy we don’t have to live there anymore!

I’ve been here for about two months and while I like the community, the lack of courtesy regarding noise is astounding. You would think that since the majority of people are working from home now, they would be mindful of the noise that they create. I’m not sure if I’m in the oldest building on the property, but it’s clear that very minimal insulation was used in the units. I can hear every step from people walking up the stairs, and around in their apartment. The unit above me blasts their TV and music at such a level during the day, and run back and forth like it’s a track. The people below me turn the bass on their music so high, that it shakes my floor/walls.I’ve called the office but I was advised that there is not much they can do during the day, since quiet hours start at nine (although they don’t seem to be observed). I hope that the office considers expanding the quiet hours to accommodate those who have to work and attend school from home now.The ceiling fans/light fixtures are so outdated, the cabinets aren’t level, so they’re never completely closed. The interior and exterior of the building needs to be pressure washed, and there is always debris in the breezeways. Additionally, people continue to leave their trash on the ground, instead of in or on top of the trash can as outlined in the property guidelines. I don’t want pests/rodents, and I would think the management would want the property to remain pest/rodent free.*Update: someone from maintenance supposedly pressure washed the breezeways, except he didn’t. Stains are still present, grime is still built up on the walls. I watched in disbelief as he ran the pressure washer over every surface, but didn’t bother to try and actually get dirt off of the walls. He finished and hopped in the golf cart. The exterior of the building still looks dingy. The pictures were taken after the pressure washing was complete.Needless to say, unless major changes are made in regards to the exterior of the building, I have no issue moving somewhere else where it actually looks like people take pride and care about how the community looks. Trash is still left on the ground and I’ve heard nothing about it.

Living at Century Afton Ridge was the worst apartment experience I have ever encountered. The management was laughably inadequate, the apartment grounds were often filthy, and it would typically take multiple requests for the maintenance to fix the same issue (one major electrical issue was never even resolved, so we just gave up on submitting requests to have it fixed).Lets start with the management first. They repeatedly failed to respond to my emails and calls. We were charged for not having renters insurance despite the fact that we did in fact have it (and when I showed proof of this to the office they did not remove the charge). We would receive late notices despite having paid our rent on time. We would receive emails from the office where they CCd the PREVIOUS tenant along with us. Before moving out, I called the office to ask whether we should leave the Spectrum equipment in the apartment or return it to the store (since we were on Century Aftons bulk agreement). I was told by the office staff to leave it in the apartment, and so that is what I did. However, I then received a bill from Spectrum for unreturned equipment and so I reached out to Century regarding this. I was told that I had correctly done as I was told, and that they would look into it. This was back in October of 2019. However, it is now May of 2020 and this issue has not been resolved. Spectrum passed the bill on to a collections agency, and Century Afton management has now refused to pay the bill saying that nobody in their office would have told me to leave the equipment in the apartment. Which is ironic, because I have repeatedly received incorrect information from their office (including the manager falsely accusing me of doing something illegal, which I promptly corrected her by showing her what the law ACTUALLY says). The apartment grounds were the dirtiest I have ever encountered. The sidewalk in front of my apartment basically always had trash and food on it. At one point, a light fixture had fallen off the building which left broken glass on the ground. The glass remained on the ground for nearly TWO WEEKS. That is a serious safety issue. The grass beside the sidewalk would also have trash and food left there for days. Finally, with the maintenance we would have to submit numerous tickets for the same issues since they were unable to fix them on their first attempts. We encountered numerous electrical issues and at one point we just gave up on reporting them because the maintenance could not fix them or replicate the issue.Avoid this apartment complex.

If you like living with rodent infested apartment then Century Afton Ridge is the place for you!! I leased an apartment at Century Afton Ridge while my house was being built. During the last 2 months of my lease I found a mouse in my apartment. When I reported it to the office I was told that it was not an emergency and that I had to wait for pest control to come(which they only come once a week). Therefore I had to wait 3 days until pest control to come, meaning I was expected to stay in an apartment with a rodent. Finally when pest control came they put out some traps and told me that the mouse came through a hole by the dishwasher. Before I could contact the office with the findings and have maintenance to repair the hole by the dishwasher, NANCY PASCOE (office manager) called to see if I wanted to renew my lease. I told her about what was going on she again told me that my situation was not an emergency. She did tell me that she will have maintenance to repair the hole( but maintenance never came). When I told her that Im not going to stay in an apartment with a mouse/mice all she could say is that I was expected to pay the rent regardless of what I do. Luckily my house was completed to where I had a place to sleep. When I started to move some things out my apartment to my home I notice that the mouse/mice damaged some of my property, one of which was a oriental rug that has been in my family for years. Of course when I tried to reach out to NANCY PASCOE she is never in the office. I have even tried to email her and again no response from her. And then then the real kicker is that she had the nerve to charge me an early termination fee because I turned my keys in 2 days early prior to my lease ending. WTH!!! I have tried to address this issue with NANCY PASCOE but again she is never available to speak with me. I have been waiting for almost a month for her to return my emails or phone calls and still nothing. Since NANCY PASCOE does not want to address my issues/concern privately maybe this will get her attention. And if you plan on renting an apartment at Century Afton Ridge and its apartment 3100 Starmont Park Blvd Apt 3116D please make sure that they have repaired the hole by the dishwasher and hopefully the mouse/mice are no longer occupying the apartment.

Worst community ever. Since the management changed this place has gone completely down hill. It used to be great, but not anymore. The valet garbage that we pay for only picks up maybe 66% of the time. When they dont pick up no one wants to bring the garbage back in the house after it has been sitting outside in the heat so the corridors smell like hot trash for in some cases days. The trash compactor doesnt work much of the time. The resolution to that for weeks was a dumpster that was only opened on the top that you had to have the strength to fling your garbage up and over the top to get it in the dumpster. With no warning they took down the box that allows you to pay the rent after hours. My wife was sick, written out of work by a doctor and I didnt get home from work until after the office closed and found 4 other people trying to pay rent but could not. They will tell you that you can pay it online, however they dont mention that you will be charged to do so. The only reason I rate this community as 1 star is because 0 stars is not an option. We will not be renewing our lease here and I would suggest anyone looking find another place to live. The building we are in had the plumbing installed upside down so you have to turn the water to cold to get hot water and vice versa for cold. The building started to settle and there are cracks everywhere. Depending on the season you cant close the doors in the apartment because of this settling. We still have a crack in our ceiling in the master bedroom where the roof leaked and while it is was sealed by maintenance the crack is still there. The kitchen appliances, the refrigerators specifically are not good. They leak, the motors freeze and shut down without warning. The crisper and vegetable drawers at the bottom crack and break for no reason but you will be charged an exorbitant amount for replacements.Maintenance has admitted on multiple occasions that the refrigerators are of poor quality. Management is very focused on charging you for everything they can possibly think of but do not provide a service that is not comparable to the amount of money they expect from you. There are many other apartment communities in this area and a new one being built, actively consider one of those. I fully expect that management will respond in a vengeful way focused on getting more money followed by excuses in response to this post and our not renewing our lease.

Everything here is pretty great except for the new Luxor system and not always receiving a code via email allowing me to enter the mailroom. Thankfully the office staff is very helpful and always sends me a code when I haven’t received one when I should have. The bad thing is I work over night so I have to stay awake until the office opens so the staff can help me enter the mailroom.

These apartments are so poorly constructed. I hear every footstep, conversation, and movement my DOWNSTAIRS neighbor makes. I have lived in two other communities and have NEVER had a problem like we are currently. The apartment is constantly vibrating from their children jumping all over. On top of that, you get to hear all of the music (or bass really) that drives by. But they arent residents so what can you do? I cant wait to find a new apartment!!!!! They are beautiful apartments but the constant noise absolutely detracts from being able to come home to your peaceful residence that you spend a lot of money for!

We signed a year long lease, however we moved out after 9 months. The apartment was beautiful, with marble countertops and beautiful appliances. However, we were on the second floor, and living in he**! The upstairs and next door neighbors children were so loud, you could hear them over a mixer in the kitchen, tv in the livingroom, and conversation in the dinning room. This was a CONSTANT problem. They ran so much and hard, I had pictures and knick knacks falling off the walls and counters. I had a ceramic bread bowl that was given to me 25 years ago as a wedding gift, fall off the counter and shatter. Picture frames fell and busted. You could hear the children screaming and running from the time they got up till they got into a car. Then, you heard them as soon as they pulled up. Our downstairs neighbors told me they could hear them through our appartment all the way to theirs. Especially when we were gone over the weekend. We complained frequently from the second week we were there, till the month we left. We were told that they cant tell parents how to raise their children. The neighbor said its because they dont have carpet, and they cant keep their kids from running! We spent every night we could, somewhere else! The apartment said they would move us, but we had to pay $250 to move to another apartment, or $2500 to get out of the lease. Needless to say, we left after 9 months and did not feel bad about it (we even continued to pay). It was worth it to get out of there. Especially not getting any help from the office. We even called the cops multiple times because it was so late at night. My other complaint was the fact that there is dog feces EVERYWHERE!! Hardly anyone cleans up after there pet. It is absolutely disgusting and not good for your pet. My older dog got intestinal parasites constantly. I asked the vet what was going on because she never had a problem before, and she said it was because people are not cleaning up after their dogs, and because she is older, she cant fight the parasite.I obviously would not recommend this beautiful appartment to anyone!!!!

Like all apartments there will be noise, unfortunately there is not a lot of building insulation from wall to wall. Sometimes you can hear noise transfer. The girls in the office are very nice and helpful, however I just think they dont have enough help with maintenance or lawn care. It would be nice if the some of the neighbors would pick up there dog poop. (This needs to be handled, I just cant believe people own dogs and do not want to pick up after them) Ive been living there for over a year and just signed another year. I like it, but there is room for improvement.

This complex REQUIRES you have a cable and internet package through Spectrum but does nothing to insure these services are provided. I am not sure if this is even legal and I will be contacting the FCC tomorrow regarding this issue. This required package is $75/month. This requirement has been an issue from the start. Upon moving into my apartment, the complex sent me a list of things I needed to do/companies I needed to call. Contacting Spectrum was not on that list, so I assumed the equipment would be on my counter when I walked in, since the apartment complex is the accountholder and is requiring me to pay for the services. I moved in May 11th, did not have equipment on my counter, had to go ask the office staff how to get it, and spent hours talking to Spectrum that day. I have paid for two months of cable and internet service and still do not have the appropriate equipment to utilize my internet service. Since move in day, I have spent over 5 hours on the phone with Spectrum and no issues have been solved. I emailed the complex last week to express my concern and explained my situation. I did not get a response. I emailed again today and received a response from Nancy, the community manager, insinuating I was a fool. She told me that I needed to contact Spectrum directly with my new address and move in date. I had previously expressed that I moved in a month ago and have spent hours on the phone with Spectrum.

Dont rent there. Crooks. They scam you on your water bill and you wont get your deposit back. Having multiple residences in the US, there were months I didnt spend even a day there and I would get charged for water I didnt use. I complained several times and they wouldnt listen. Finally when I moved out they said they would mail me my deposit. When I called to find out where my deposit check was they said we were even. They said that they had to replace some carpet but there was no supporting statement.

Weve been living here for a year so far and absolutely love it! The staff is exceptionally friendly and quite helpful, and the grounds are great for children and pets. Great location, awesome apartments, fun community events, and quick turnarounds on maintenance and any other issues. So happy to be here at Afton Ridge Apartments! As far as other reviews go - we have not experienced any problems with parking (it is plentiful and easy to get a space any time of day or night, even if you dont want someone to park next to you on either side), or problems with noise outside of daytime construction on weekdays, but it isnt incredibly intrusive or bothersome at any point. The only issue is one thats trying to be resolved, and thats the fact that some dog owners dont like to pick up after their dogs. As a dog owner, I can verify that there are many stations to clean dog waste throughout the complex, and it largely is taken care of by the maintenance and groundskeeping staff. This is definitely one of the nicest places to live in the Charlotte area!

Current resident/ have been living in Afton Ridge Apartments for 6 months now and feel like I can give a solid review of this great place Im happy to call home!First of all, the location: You couldnt ask for a better environment. This would be a perfect place for a family just starting out as the area and surrounding is clean, friendly, and inviting. There are over 30 businesses within walking distance with everything from shopping, dining, and professional services. Having a Super Target at your doorstep is definitely a welcomed convenience, the proximity to I-85 is also a big plus. The apartment grounds are well maintained by a very friendly staff. They are out and about so often I know most if not all of the staff by name. The amenities that are offered are top notch: A well equipped and maintained gym, resort style pool, clubhouse with a pool table, and even a private theater room that you can reserve! Im not even going to try and list all the great perks they offer, but Im sure the staff will make sure you see them all if you visit!Let talk about my apartment itself. Being on the first floor, I have a laminate plank wood flooring in all the common areas (Living, Kitchen, Dining, Bathrooms). This is super-easy to maintain and very attractive. I absolutely love the kitchen: Granite countertops and dark-stained, spacious cabinets. The included stove, fridge, and dishwasher are all Frigidaire Brand. My apartment itself is just under 1200 sq. ft. but feels very spacious with a well thought out floor plan.As with any apartment complex building, there were a few issues that we addressed up front. I am extremely satisfied by Afton Ridge Apartments maintenance staff as well as the management team in handling all issues (however minor) in a quick and professional manner. As a manager in direct sales, this is something I highly respect and appreciate!Ive read some of the reviews on here and I can only think that they may not have communicated problems with staff. To touch on a few: In my experience, parking has never been an issue, period. There is a $25 deposit for a card to access the clubhouse community features after-hours. This covers the cost of the card if lost and in no way do I see this as a gotcha charge as the money is returned to you if you return the card, the staff also tells you this up front (In my case, they told me about this before I filed my lease application). I can only speak for my unit, but I have no complaints of noise, whether from outside or from neighbors. If I did I am sure that the staff would be more than willing to address it.Overall, this being my first lease/rental experience, I am extremely happy with this place! The team at Afton Ridge Apartments does everything they can to make this an awesome community to live in.

When we moved here, this community was great. Well put together, above code in several ways, pet friendly, and with an active community and monthly get-togethers, Afton Ridge Apartments seemed like a wonderful place for us to live. It was made up of only a few buildings, and it seemed like this complex really was where the good life starts, as the signs say. Unfortunately, as more buildings have opened and more residents have moved in, the property managers (now what seems to be a revolving door of employees) not only cannot keep who lives there straight (no knowledge of who is a resident vs. who isnt), but have resorted to fairly immature tactics. The first that comes to mind is the most recent. They have one garbage compactor for the entire complex, and one recyclables-only dumpster. The recyclables-only was not clearly labeled, and it was never clearly explained to much of anyone living here as to what could go in there. The straightest answer any of us (a very small number, apparently, and only once) had received was cardboard, but then an email threatening fines to anyone who didnt have it bagged properly came out, and cameras were installed. Im not sure if anyone was actually fined (though Im sure they were, they are extremely happy to fine you here! In some cases theyll even come to your door and take pictures detailing exactly why, but instead of asking you to correct it they just bill you instead), because at that point many of us simply stopped using it or started taking our recycling to centers in the area to avoid potentially angering the management. The dumpster is now locked (or gone) and residents are not allowed to use it because of misuse. Better communication would be nice, but what can you expect when you barely know whos still working up front and they barely know whos here?Sadly, the front desk isnt the only issue. That extends into your apartment, where the appliances work perfectly for about the first six weeks, and then you can expect to have an issue with one or two of them. You may also have doors that dont quite shut as easily as they should for a two year-old building, or doors that shut too easily (but also open themselves).Theres also an issue regarding pets. I cant blame the front desk for it as it isnt their responsibility, but many, many dog owners ignore the rules and leave dog poop without bagging it, even if its only a foot away from someones porch. Ive never seen any of the waste stations (of which there are many) without available bags, and Ive never seen them overly filled, but so many people choose to just leave it there, leaving the grass disgusting. Dont walk in it if you can help it, and dont let your kids play in pet-heavy areas unless you want to wind up with dog poop getting tracked into your home. This issue may resolve itself since theyve just installed a dog park, but as another review states, it is the size of a living room and not suitable or appropriate for more than two or three small to midsize dogs to enjoy at the same time.On the positive side, many of the people living here are wonderful, and holidays are lovely. Many people set up lights for Christmas, decorations for Halloween, and flags for Independence Day. On top of that, you cant deny the convenience of living walking distance from a Super Target, restaurants, a dentist, gas station, bank, and in-complex playground, pool, gym, and two gas grills that are available year-round. Theres also fairly unrivaled access to I-85, so your commute will at the very least be easy. As stated, Ive also been told that these buildings are also above code, and on top of that, theres not much noise to speak of. Whatever issues you do have in your living space will be annoyances, but dont take that to mean the buildings are terrible. They really arent, even if the rent prices indicate that those problems shouldnt exist in the first place. If nothing else, these are great apartments for people who need a temporary place to land in the Charlotte area, but dont want to put roots down yet.

Low quality apartment. Outside of the building is filthy. Cheap paint wipes right off the walls, dry wall has tons of flaws, water heater barely provides enough hot water for a shower. Windows leak. A lot of drinking events but hardly any family events. I have not felt welcome here since I complained about the lack of hot water.

****UPDATE 6/28/2016****I am now again a resident of this apartment community. I have changed my review from 3 stars to 5. This community recently had a change of ownership and the changes have been great. There are resident events often, great communication about community info through email and facebook, and the nicest office staff i have come across. I worked with Liz and Wendy through my move in. The staff was very accommodating through the move in process and they let me sign my lease online, Neat! Everyone is super friendly that i have spoken to in the neighborhood, even had a couple people offer to help move some furniture during my move in. So far this community has changed for the better. Water is now bundled with the rent payment so no more setting up water with a 3rd party. The construction has stopped and they can now focus on keeping residents happy. Thank you Afton Ridge Apartments if you are reading this.***Written JAN 2015****I moved here in September 2014 for a 6 month lease. I gave it 3 stars because of the location and newness of apartments, not because of the community itself. These are brand new apartments with ceiling fans/lights in each room. The light bulbs were non-standard sizes in the ceiling fan fixture making them impossible to replace with the energy saving bulbs duke energy sent me when I opened a new account. The My biggest annoyance was the air conditioning unit right outside my bedroom window (2nd floor) whenever it would turn on (heat or cool) it made a loud crack noise waking me up sometimes. The apartment gym was shown to me during the tour, it is nice with more equipment than I expected. But... unless you pay extra for a key fob, the gym and clubhouse are off limits after office hours (when im not at work). I argued my case about the gym being included in rent everywhere I have ever lived and got nowhere. The water is billed by a 3rd party company based in Florida, it was a pain to setup and cancel. Also, my bill was around 25 per month every month... even the last month that I paid rent, even though I was not showering or washing dishes there for the month of January. I had already moved out. They claim water is sub metered, I disagree. Life is too short to argue over 25 dollars, so I let it go. The gas grills are a nice amenity that I used frequently and the pool was always clean. I like one member of the office staff, the other I dont like. The apartment has great access by foot to target and many shops and places to eat in Afton Ridge. That is the number one reason I moved here. Once I used a spigot on the side of the building to rinse off my mountain bike after a weekend riding the Virginia creeper trail. A man saw me and turned me in to the office staff, I guess because of the physical description the office called me and told me I had violated my lease agreement. Very threatening sounding for rinsing off a bike... In another review on here I read that they are paying a reward to anyone who turns in someone who doesnt pick up after their dog. I am not a dog owner, but if you want to build a sense of community, This is not how you do it. Most of the residents are retired, some days it felt like a retirement community.
