These guys know what they are doing! The engine light was on in my car, so I brought the car in and they did a diagnostic test and figured out the issue immediately. They got the part that needed replacing and had me back on the road pretty quickly at a very reasonable price. It was done right the first time and Im really happy with my experience there!

This place is the absolute worse!!! I had my BMW towed there for oil leak and alternator/battery issues. I paid over $1400 and when I picked car up the oil was still leaking even though the Manager Jonas assured me the issue would be resolved. WHAT A CON GAME that was. To add insult to injury, I took car back for them to look at vehicle which is a 2015 BMW and when I dropped it off it was drivable. By the time I went to pick it up several hours later the car was NOT working. Thats less than 2 weeks after I paid them for the previous work????? I barely made it home. The power steering went out. The car was smoking and the only thing the mechanic did was handed me the key and walked away. The Manager said nothing other than what was I going to do with car and recommended I trade it in????? REALLY??????This PLACE is questionable in its practices!!!!! I initially had car towed there based on reviews. But, IM COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED with not only the work but the blatantly dismissive attitude of the Manager Jonas and the other guy that I think is the owner. Theyre CROOKS to say the least. And Jonas is a male chauvinist. He kept talking over ME bc Im female and he thought I didnt have the right to speak????DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE!!! LOOK and READ the other REVIEWS that are 1 or 2 STARS!!!!my car was towed there w/o me present. On day it was towed they waited til afterwards to tell me abt a bunch of fees ???? I had been communicating with them the weekend prior to that. NOT ONCE did they mention these fees????VERY MONEY HUNGRY and I COULD SAY MORE. JUST BEWARE of this place!!! IM OUT of $1400 paid to these vultures FOR my car to break down less than 2 weeks later??????ABSOLUTELY WRONG on MANY LEVELS. TAKE YOUR CAR ELSEWHERE!!!

I had an awesome experience at Dobbin Auto Repair. From the time I dropped off the car to the time I picked it up, it was extremely professional and transparent. My car steering was shaking violently and there was a knocking sound coming from my engine. I received an electronic estimate of the desired repairs that would be needed along with a phone call describing the reasons why. The prices were extremely reasonable and the work was completed within really quick time. Thanks a bunch Dobbin Auto Repair!!

I called this business this morning and talked to someone Molly there. My car had issue with the brake padel which did not have any pressure so called them and she told me that I can bring the car over and they will look into it. She did not mention anything else except they were busy today and would do it tomorrow and that was okay with me. I called again and someone else told me the same thing to bring the car in. When I took my car over there in a tow truck and parked outside the shop and went inside to inform them, the lady at the desk told me that they will charge $110.00 as a service fee in addition to the diagnostic and the repair which they did not mention over the phone. I requested her to talk to the owner /manager and she said he can not talk as they were busy. she was rude as well. I took my car out and went to another dealer. It was a very bad experience with this dealership.

Went in for E brake issues and they gave me an estimate for over $1000 for all new brake parts, front and back,making it seem these were necessary. Second opinion found just the connecting cable needed to be reattached and did so for $150. The prices they gave me for parts were double market values. Just DIAGNOSIS for some AC troubles was estimated at $140. Ridiculous overpricing

I had a punctured tired and was referred to the neighboring auto repair company by my insurance. Upon arrival they informed me they were collision repair only. They walked me next door to DAR who said they fit me in right then for a repair. We planned to run an errand while it was repaired, surprised with the quick turn around time. Well it turned out there was more damage to the tire than originally thought and they’d need to replace it. They ordered the tire for me (as well as a matching one for the other side to be even) and replaced my tires. Turn around time was only 2 business days if I recall correctly, this was over the winter and includes ordering and delivery of the new tires. I have been impressed with DAR every step of the way. Communication, pricing, workmanship and customer service. We’ve finally found our “car shop”.

I needed to get a Maryland State Inspection before my MVA appointment the same day, so I was in a time crunch. Wayne fit me in the schedule and made sure I had my car back (repairs and inspection) hours before I needed it. Wayne (the guy at the front desk) is very rude and has no sense of customer service. I understand it’s a garage but that doesn’t mean he should be allowed to talk to people like they’re being ridiculous and unacceptable for asking questions. Also, he tried to double charge us for an oil change and said we needed a list of things that two other garages later said we didn’t. We’ll be taking our business elsewhere. A shame that a good shop can be ruined by letting a jerk be in charge.

This is such a great auto shop! We found them when we first moved to Columbia, MD and we have stayed with them ever since.They are so honest, reasonable in pricing, only do what is necessary and they go the extra mile! I cannot say enough good things about Dobbin Auto Repair!

I am still waiting to hear back from them. I didnt get to meet the mechanic. It would have been nice if they lube all of the window guides. They said that they did the front two. Overall I was pleased with the job. The total bill was less than I expected which was very good. They were still at the top of the estimates that I got after I gave them the go ahead. So you will be surprised when I say that I would go back to they in the future. They did do good work and they were very friendly. Good people!

I love Alok and Dobbin Auto Repair! We moved to Columbia 4 years ago. I pay off my cars and drive them into the ground. Therefore I always appreciate a trusted local mechanic. My brother-in-law recommended Dobbin and they are the best. I tried a different local mechanic once because they offer a ride service. However when a fix was going to be significantly more expensive and involved than I anticipated, I brought my car to Dobbin for a second opinion. Not only was Dobbin much cheaper for the fix, they said the extra involved work was not necessary. I was better off grabbing an Uber home than the free ride service at the other place! I am a Dobbin fan for life! Several times over the years they have saved me hundreds of dollars by instructing me how to fix something cheaper or telling me it really didnt need to be done on a 10 year old car. I have sent my brother there when he was in town and his car was having trouble, I have sent my parents there and I am sending you there! I go to Dobbin for oil changes (its not worth getting haggled by the quick change guys) and I cannot say enough great things about this place.

Honest, trustworthy, and they do an excellent job on repairs. I highly recommend taking your vehicle here. Both of my vehicles are 2012 so they have issues expected with a vehicle that age. They have always been up front and honest with what they find and Ive had a couple instances where they could have easily charged for a repair that didnt need to happen and they didnt. Then they explained what they found and why they didnt do any repairs. Cant ask for anything more out of a mechanic.

Alok was very kindly helpful as well as very informative with all my car related issues. Given that I have a hybrid car as a student, I appreciate that he would take time to help me understand if something was wrong and what was necessary to fix or not. During the pandemic, it can be difficult and rushed but they work hard and are very understanding. Ill try keep coming back. Hope they upgrade to electric cars also :)

Im a woman so Ive had auto repair shops try to oversell me on services - not this place. They have never overcharged or oversold their services (I know because I had my mechanic oriented husband look at everything they did the first couple of times I used them.) They complete their work on time and every one on staff communicates in a professional manner.

Their honesty regarding repairs and price, good advice on how to cut costs (without quality), and fast work times make them the to-go place in Columbia.They have always provided fair price for labor and parts, told me where to go if I wanted to find the parts cheaper, and even instructed what needed to be done and what could wait. My vehicle is usually done within 12-36 hours, and if they say itll be done by the end of the day they mean it.The main mechanics/owners are extremely knowledgeable, recognizing common problems or concerns based solely on the model, make, and year. Ive even been able to describe stuff in laymans terms and they still can determine what needs to be looked at. I also like that they send you updates for regular maintenance via e-mail, something many independent garages dont do.I will continue to use Dobbin Auto Repair and have recommended it to everyone I know in the area. The mechanic was very patient when explaining what I needed done for my state inspection. The gas station attendant was extremely helpful and friendly to my daughter and I. Very warm professional establishment. Priced me well for the inspection too.If you have to stay to wait for your car there’s just one table and a chair to sit down at; near a little coffee station. There’s an older little shopping center next to it but wasn’t much to it. Giant grocery store on the other side though.

Auto inspection. Bad experience. Failed because of tint. Paid to get tint removed, then brought the car back on a Saturday morning when I was off of work. Apparently, their inspector was off too, so now I have to pay for another inspection. I have my MVA appointment later today. So many other choices, go elsewhere where they care about your experience.

Rip Off artists, Took my car here for an alingment. They said I need ball joints, which were replaced less then a year ago, then they said it needed sway bar links , Which is not needed for an alingment, then here is the kicker they said they could not prerform the alingment but CHARGED my 50 Dollars the alingment price was 80 Dollars . I have told all me friends which I work and live locally not to go to this Scam shop.

They are willing and able to perform an alignment to custom specifications. Much appreciated!

This place will scam you and is not honest. They tell you one thing than 20 minutes later, they will tell you the opposite. And the front office lady lies, changes her story and consistently blames the customer (which I had the pleasure of witnessing the entire 2 hours I sat in the waiting room). Go anywhere else.Edited after owner responded: there is nothing that this company could do to rectify the situation since they had ample opportunity to fix their mistake when we were at their establishment.

Dobbin Auto Repair Service is the best! My car was in for general maintenance - oil change, tire rotation, brake check. Everything was completed within the time the tech indicated, and I was very satisfied. They even wiped down the steering wheel, door handles, gear shift, etc. with disinfectant for health safety. In addition, the shop has a very beautiful and comfortable waiting area, which is also very clean. Five Stars!

I am so grateful I found an honest, trustworthy and generous shop. As I was several states away from home at a family wedding, I was told by another shop that my sons vehicle had terrible oil leaks and needed to be repaired ASAP! Dobbins was recommended to me, so I called and they told me to bring it in right away. After explaining the issues, left the vehicle and they immediately pulled the vehicle in the shop. I received a call within 20 minutes and was told the repair would be more than the vehicle was worth BUT with proper checks of the oil levels I would be able to get the vehicle home! The weekend was stressful enough without factoring in a broken vehicle! When I went to pick up the vehicle, the owner handed me the keys and told me he was not charging me his usual diagnostic fee, that it was a wedding gift! I cannot tell you how much that gesture meant to me! There really ARE good and honest people in this crazy world.So, in short, I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing a vehicle repair. I handed his cards out to the wedding party and have one in my wallet as I will be making many trips back to the area.Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your fast and generous help to me!

Columbia MD is a very competitive place for auto repairs as there are many shops that are highly rated, but I don have personal experiences with the others. I have been a Dobbins customer for 3 plus years. I find them honest, reasonable, fast paced and precise. They strive for customer satisfaction. This is my fourth or fifth review. Dobbin has done a very nice job for us for a long time. They are not perfect, but highly principled and they stand by their work. Some time ago, our family was riding down the road and heard a terrible noise from the rear passenger wheel. We went to the nearest service location we could get to and found out that a lug nut (or nuts) hadnt been properly tightened. The tire was dangerously loose. We paid $300 + to have the problem corrected, and I went to Richard at Dobbin regarding the issue. We had recently had work done on that wheel, and probably several others. I asked Richard if he could pay for part of the cost we incurred for the repair and he said hed meet us halfway. When he returned with a check and the receipt for what we had paid the other shop, he covered the cost in full. Richard is an honest, Christian man who does his best to serve. He has always done his best by us as a family, and tried to save us money, which is all that we can ask for. I would recommend Dobbin to anyone.Recently, we needed a new exhaust -- which we could not afford. Richard did some welding for us to give us more time to prepare. Love Richard. Love Dobbin.

Great Service and very professional.Last week went to Dobbin Auto Repair to recharge my cars AC.It was a quick appointment with Dobbin Auto center, as I was trying to get my AAA service center to get the schedules and they dont have any schedules for near by dates.So called Dobbin Auto center and they told me that you may have to wait for a while, but we will try to get it done before their closing time (5 PM).I reached there around 3 PM and they gave me back my car by 4PM ! Even I am a new customer, I got a very good experience and quick service.Service rate is reasonable compare to other service centers and you will get a very satisfied experience here.Initially I thought to reduce my rating for Dobbin Auto center based on my experience with front desk staff (She is not customer friendly and not professional) - But the rest of them and this service center deserves 5 star (Definitely I will update the reviews and ratings based on my future visit)

Have been a customer for years, but now thinking about exploring other options. They do great work, but their labor cost is too high (averages 40% of the cost of parts) for my budget. Use to be a very warm environment, but over the past year it has become very commercial and cold environment.

Dobbin Auto Repair Inc can be very expensive. They try to charge me around $400-500 for my repair for a state inspection. I found a location that took care of it quicker and under $300.... Just be mindful.

Took my car in for inspection which it failed (I was kind of expecting that) but made an appt to get the repairs done to bring it up to legal. The estimate they quoted me was lower than I expected based on what had to be done, and the actual bill matched almost exactly. They communicate with you so you know the status, great service. Update : I have been going to these great guys at Dobbin for about 3 years now, and wouldnt go anywhere else. Great work ethic, friendly service, they are pros! And since new owner took over, really great waiting room and decor. They do great work and I trust them!

I like the convenience of email reminders that link to the scheduling page so I can set up my services all online - though they still have the flexibility of taking phone calls as well. Everyone there is always friendly and professional. The work is always done in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. They didnt have my wiper blade in stock when I got them changed once and they said theyd call me when they had them - and called me in a matter of hours. Ive tried taking my car to other places but I just dont get the service that I get at Dobbin Auto Center with other places.

Great experience all around! We initially got our cars inspected here after moving to MD and felt they were honest and very helpful. Have returned several times after getting my oil changed elsewhere because I thought it was less expensive, but came here for a second opinion after oil change place recommended several expensive repairs. Each time, theyve told me the repairs are not really needed and sent me on my way (with no repairs and not even charging me to look at the cars!) They are great to work with and feel that they are honest and trustworthy. We will not take our cars anywhere else now!

Dobbin was so honest that they ended up not having to replace everything I was expecting and they were 1/2 the cost of the other shops.I was blown away! They easily could have taken advantage of me and I would not have known the difference, but they are way too honest to do that!Its refreshing to meet a company that you can trust, especially an auto mechanic. From this point forward I will not even bother running around to any other shops. These folks are my only choice!

As a former motor maintenance officer in the Army, I know a great shop when I see one. It starts by having a top-notch diagnostic team that can pinpoint a problem and repair it efficiently. My previous auto shop I used for over 20-years changed ownership, so I found Dobbin Auto Repair. I reviewed and checked out numerous shops from Silver Spring to Columbia. Dobbin Auto Repair impressed me by identifying the exact problem of a fan belt adjustment ($60) versus an air conditioner clutch replacement ($330). That was two years ago and their professionalism and honesty since then has been superb.Now, after having all my cars serviced there (3 Honda’s and a Volvo) I can say Richard Amani and his team really are great at what they do. They provide email maintenance service reminders and great service or repairs at a very reasonable labor price-point for the area. Getting my cars serviced or repaired economically and efficiently is a rarity in todays automotive business climate. They also have a great customer service team. The retro lounge music is an extra special pleasure of comfort to listen to when I wait for my car.

Great experience. I went in for routine maintenance and a general checkup prior to a long-distance trip. I received line-itemized quotes before work started, sat down for a detailed discussion about the items, and briefly went under the lift to see tread wear depth myself.Quoted work was done as requested, with no surprises on price.My time also felt valued. A delay getting my tires delivered from a local supplier set back the timetable, but Larry promptly informed me while I waited, freeing me (and my car) to go run some errands in the interim. DAR also detected a leak in one of the delivered tires, sending it back for a replacement. These delays were unfortunate, but Im pleased with how Larry clearly and quickly communicated them. The work still finished at-quote, and this just ended up costing them more lift time than would normally be needed to complete the work, so I dont see how this could be anything other than an honest upstream supplier issue -- one handled well by DAR.The waiting room was also clean, comfortable, and had complimentary wifi.Overall, conscientious work done at reasonable prices with polite service.

Not taking project

Beware, they may take you for a fool. Ive used them before and am aware of the good reviews, but this time around the quote was absurd. $1900 for brakes including pads, rotors and calipers (note: it is nearly impossible to need four new calipers at once and the replacements likely wouldnt be as good as the originals that have lasted 145k miles, but thats another story). The price for parts is clearly marked up about 100% over what youd pay for premium parts online and theres no indication that these parts are any better for the extra cost. I understand they have to make SOME money on parts but dont pretend like theyre installing gold plated rotors and pads. The thing that got me the most was 6.5 hours labor for performing a brake job on one car! Ive done it in half the time without any fancy lifts and tools! They also offered a $100 computer diagnostic for my check engine light. This is free at any auto parts store and I actually bought a computer diagnostic for $15 online that I use to reset the light as needed (catalytic converter is the issue). Not sure if it just happened to be the crew that was there that day but it was clear I was being fleeced. Will not use them again.
