Less than 10 hours ago, I went to the post office ( United States Postal service office location near/very close walking distance wise to the College Park-University of Maryland metro station). I admit as an Amazon fanatic I was obtaining help processing an Amazon return and the employee on the shift cheerfully helped me ship my order which was fortunately cheaper than I expected.

Whats the point of a post office if no one is hardly ever here and the times posted are inaccurate? I arrived at the USPS College Park Calvert Rd location today 9/21 at 12:40pm. Google showed that they would be gone for lunch from 1-2pm. There was no staff member there, so I then look at the hours posted. The paper states the office is closed for lunch, but doesnt show time frame... The Closed hanging sign shows that they will return at 3pm. This is very inconvenient and confusing for those of us who rely on USPS for our mailing. Please be clear on when the office staff is to go on break and arrive. Its not fair to those of us who have to take time off work sometimes just to mail important items. If theres a problem with staffing, please hire more workers. Its really that simple. For anyone reading, avoid this location at all costs.

Theres a very rude elderly woman named Pam. Senior associate. She had 0 patience for anyone in this building 🤣. Poor Asian kid walked up and she said what do you want from me, what do you want me to do. Very uncooperative as well. But Im here for business so Im unbothered.

Not helpful at all. The old woman who usually works on Wednesday is lazy and rude as hec. I went there several times and she gives me some problems every single time. I bought a label which shows the item weight as 2oz and she says the item only weights 1oz and I can’t send it out. She is nasty and disgusting.

This post office is barely operational. Lady up front is rude and not helpful. Not sure why she’s even there, a self serve kiosk would be much more useful. I’m actually a bit upset that this location popped up when I searched for USPS because it was such a waste of time.

If I could, I would give ZERO stars. The clerk claimed that they would not be able to ship my package . I went a few miles down the road to the next post office and they took my package, no problem. The clerks at this post office CLEARLY dont want to do any work, and I was disgusted by the experience overall.

Open 11-4:30 Monday thru Friday, 10-12 Saturdays, closed Sundays. Have you ever considered being open when people are likely to have time off work? That strikes me as an excellent step in the right direction. And whats with your lunch breaks? I go to the place at 12:20, theyre closed for lunch. Fine, it is the right time of day for that. I come back at 1:35, theyre still out for lunch! Seriously, what gives?!

Its true that this location has very short hours, but they are posted online, so I cant really fault them for that. There was only one clerk when I went just after opening, but she was so super efficient that it might as well have been 3 people there. She worked at an inhuman speed and got me out in maybe a minute and a half, with my package on the way. I actually had to make her repeat some things since she talked as fast as she worked. This is only the second time Ive used the post office in the last few years, but I was pretty happy with the service.

Doesn’t open until 11am, then employees take very long and inconsistent lunch breaks until ~3pm, then closes again at 4pm. So, the employees work about 2 hours a day here? If only those two hours were consistent I could plan my visits accordingly. I don’t understand how USPS allows this kind of waste to continue.

All these reviews go back to more than 4 years... Like how is it still opened? I would also give this a zero if I had the chance.I called this post office, someone picked up and said hello. I greeted them and continued to talk about my concerns for calling. After I finished, there was a long pause. I said hello again a few times but no answer. So I decided to stay on the phone because I can clearly hear someone breathing. The waiting game lasted for more than 4 minutes... Until she pretended like she asked me to hold. I expressed my concerns again for a lost package and she cut me off being rude and gave me an invalid number to call to get me off the phone.I am absolutely disgusted by such behavior and this place need to be shut down. OR all the employees NEED to be replaced immediately...Oh and PS: I never give reviews. This is literally the first review Ive ever given. I truly felt like I needed to say something because I was extremely pissed.

This post office is so run down and dated, it looks like something out of Soviet occupied East Germany. Clerk was professional but she was dishuffled and seemed miserable and depressed. The entire place was a depressing experience... the U.S. Postal Service needs to reboot its enterprise, what a shameful display of neglect and mismanagement.

Gave 1 star only because I cant give 0. Went to the post office yesterday at 1:50 and it was closed for lunch until 2, thats fine. But when I came back today at 2:20 sign said they were closed for lunch until 3? Not only are the operation hours of 11-4:30 horrible for anyone who works but these random and long lunch breaks make it very frustrating

Dont even bother. Posted hours are 11:00am - 4:30pm M- F but they lock the doors for lunch at their own whim. USPS should staff it properly to allow service as posted, and allow alternating lunch breaks for employees. Or they should close the place down.

I just had to deal with the worst post office clerk at this location. I took my 10 minutes to fill out the customer service survey to let the post office know how rude this clerk was. And yes, this person also took the lunch until 2:12 pm as noted by another reviewer. Im assuming the lunch hour lasts about an hour, but it is not announced on the website, so there were many people who had to wait for more than 30 minutes. When the clerk came back, there was no smile, no apology, just rudeness expressed towards customers. They need to do a better job in finding a better worker who understand common business courtesy.

Review №21

Quite possibly the worst post office in the DC region. This is where they put the clerks who absolutely, positively, do not want to work. And they hate you for showing up, and wont let you forget it. Be prepared to be sent to the back of the queue if you used too little, too much, or the wrong kind of package tape (and no, they wont give you any at the counter, not even for money.) And thats if you can even get in the door, the hours are already a full two hours shorter than at other post offices. And half of *that* is eaten up by the two hour lunches these folks apparently take *every day*. Do not try to send returns here, they will reject your box if it has so much as a stain from an old barcode. Simply do not go here if it is at all possible to avoid it. Just stay away. Bonus: the building is a ruin, the entire back half is overgrown with weeds, as is the back parking; as for the front parking, the roof eaves and lights threaten to collapse right into your car. Dont park near the building, park literally anywhere else. The letters on the facade have been stolen over the past decade and never replaced: it currently reads Untd States Pofic. There are mailboxes in the parking lot, but dont even think of putting mail in them, they are never emptied, one of them probably still contains pieces of mail I foolishly put there in 2014. Someone ought to make a fascinating documentary about this post office; it is quite possibly the innermost circle of the postal inferno. If youre ever curious why the USPS has dire financial problems and lives off the junk mail racket, visit this place and it will become quite clear.

At 12:59 pm, one minute before the lunch break, one of the staff locked the doors, despite someone attempted to enter the post office. At 3 pm, the lights were on, the doors were STILL locked. I guess they were on a very nice and long lunch break. One time, one of the staffs told me they didnt know how many stamps to put on an international postcard. Another time, a staff told me they didnt know where Hong Kong is, and they did NOT mail packages internationally. All the staff at this location needs to be FIRED.

I was pretty shocked at how rude and angry the clerk became with me when I called to ask a question about my package. USPS unsuccessfully attempted to deliver a package to my apartment several days ago and there were no further updates since that day when I checked tracking. I had no idea if the package attempted to go out for delivery today, so I called and asked. From the start of the call, the clerk who answered the phone was angry with me and started raising her voice (nearly screaming) at me when I asked for clarification about tracking. She was super condescending, disrespectful, and angry throughout the whole call. I was not being disrespectful or rude towards her at all, so I see no reason for her to have been so rude.
