After two years at the Deacon, I would absolutely not recommend this living situation to ANYONE. The staff (particularly Morgan Klepper) are unprofessional, inexperienced, and downright rude except for a few. They are manipulating and deceitful - promising everything they can until you sign the lease and then they treat you as if you’re dirt. Living here was so stressful and miserable I spent all the time I could living at home and commuting over two hours to class/work or staying at a friend’s house just so I would not have to sleep in the building. There are lots of neat, and nice things that the property has to offer including a pool and workout rooms, but please listen to me when I say the amenities are NOT WORTH IT. The location is NOT WORTH IT. The brand new building is NOT WORTH IT (so many structural flaws and unfinished parts - they have started to advertise them as an “industrial look”… my first apartment here didn’t have a finished ceiling). My list of bad experiences here is lengthy and I honestly can’t remember a time when I lived here that “something” wasn’t happening to me personally or all of the residents as a whole. My last experience personally was that while I was out of town, a water leak sprung and completely soaked all of my belongings and the carpet in the bedroom - which my bed was sitting on. I was never notified of this, only by chance I came back to the apartment and found the floor soaking wet. When I called the front desk, an employee said “yeah, a lot of other units on the floor have been having the same problem” and offered literally no help. My apartment and belongings sat in water for HOURS based on their condition and were ruined. I can say wholeheartedly that living here significantly negatively impacted my mental health and took away a big part of my college experience. It was a constant stressor for me. If you are considering The Deacon as a place for you or your college student to live, PLEASE, PLEASE reconsider. Prestige Property Management is a great company.

Im not usually one to leave negative reviews, but after living here for 3 years Im honestly so fed up. I moved into the unfinished apartment complex in 2019 (including wet paint on the walls, construction dust and dirt everywhere, unfinished rooms, feel free to read the MANY horror stories and reviews from that era further down below) and ever since, the constant fire alarms have made me feel like Im undergoing consistent sleep deprivation and psychological torture. The building-wide fire alarms stopped last year for the most part, but this year Ive come back to my roommates fire alarm going off every 4 hours for 90 seconds at a time for no reason. When I told the front desk about this, they made me wait around for days until finally letting me know that maintenance had more pressing issues and Id have to continue trying to sleep with it indefinitely. Let alone being a safety hazard for residents who dont know whether any fire is real, I feel like Im being constantly gaslit by management as to what is normal here. They claim all of these issues with alarms are caused by residents and pranksters (??) but I believe there is some kind of fundamental flaw with the way things are wired in this building. Maintenance has consistently marked issues as complete after reassuring me that they are coming back with parts to fix it, only to never return. With a luxury price point, our ceilings in our unit are unfinished, with exposed plumbing. Take a look at the photos and judge for yourself. There was also literal poop in the (dark, scary, dusty, shoddily painted) hallway last year for the better part of a day (not sure if human or animal) - now theres spilled grease from construction. Im honestly kind of embarrassed to have friends over and tell them that my room alone costs over $1000 a month.

I will give it a 3 stars. It is not like, the level of horrible . But some staffs are rude and unhelpful. Be careful some balconies are facing a wall lol...... It is pretty clear that they do not care about your living experience there but your rent :-) They spent crazy amount of money and effort on marketing but forgot the students living there ... I dont think this place is super horrible. But you can find a better place with the same amount of money.

If I could give this place a 0 star review I would. Overall average but overpriced place to live. They have a faulty garage pass scan that doesnt work half the time and keeps you from getting in or out for a few minutes. They also did not transfer my utilities costs over to my sublet and when I called to have them help me fix this they said it was not their responsibility. They will work their hardest to get you and your friends to renew your lease and pester you about it, yet they wont care about you at all while you live there. Thanks to them I am out around $100 or more because of their utilities mistake. If you have the option dont live here and pay overpriced rent but deal with subpar customer service.

LOOKS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES. In all of the online pictures they only show one of 2 suites in the whole building. The rest of the rooms are one floor rooms that look like an entire frat lived in each one. Even the pictures of the lobby are photo shopped to make it look better, upon walking in you can barley tell if it’s under construction or not.

Upon move in day, The Deacon was unfinished. Trinitas Ventures is the company responsible. The parking garage was littered with glass, nails, garbage, and construction debris on every floor. The backdoor by University Ct had a missing glass panel - anyone could stick their hand through and unlatch the door. My studio wasn’t terribly unfinished, but I’ve seen horror stories on Google Reviews with residents posting pictures of doors covered in mud, sawdust spewed everywhere, sludge spilling onto the beds through the ceiling, and broken windows. The courtyard is an echo chamber. The building is simply too big with too many residents, the sound has nowhere to go but bounce off each wall, until it escapes from the 12th floor. After move-in, over 30 rooms were blasting music. It was so bad, I threatened to break my lease. In the first 2 months, I filed over 30 noise complaints to the staff and Cincinnati Police.I learned from my manager The Deacon housed 400 Freshmen. While leasing said it would be marketed towards students, I thought the high price point and chic building would entice upperclassmen, graduate, and medical students along with professionals. This was more like a dorm, complete with RA’s. I’m a 2nd year Masters student!A “no music policy” was enforced in the courtyard. But the fire alarms would be constantly going off in the winter past midnight, either by pranks or water pipes malfunctioning. I told a Cincinnati Firemen my complaints, and he responded, “You’re preaching to the choir. Ever since this place was built, we’ve been getting sensor malfunctions. They cut so many corners when they built this place.”The front door always broke, but the cheap repairs would only hold up for about 2 weeks. Instead of replacing it with a secure system, it was left unlocked late at night. Don’t live here? No worries, you sloppy street chumps! You can just stroll in like it ain’t no thing! Security? Management let them go in the Spring because they were “unnecessary.” Cameras are completely absent on multiple floors, aside from the one facing the parking garage. Even after I wrote multiple times to the general manager, they were never installed. Residents would also be leaving their doors unlocked, and letting people in without key cards. A plethora of break-ins resulted - people literally kicking down doors and stealing electronics. The stories on google reviews again, are horrifying. The front door was eventually replaced, but it took the work of tenants threatening Trinitas with a union meeting. Still, security cameras are missing and the fire alarms continued.A common response from management here is, “We’re doing our best and your safety is our top priority!” What angers me is that management can’t do anything because their hands are tied by Trinitas Ventures and their CEO, Loren King. Trinitas is responsible for the safety of their tenants, but they choose to do nothing. Top class, this Loren King! Top class! If “your safety is our top priority,” then why hasn’t this been fixed? Now for the positives. Of all my apartments, this studio was easily THE nicest. My previous studios placed everything in an open room. But here, mine has a wall separating the “bedroom” from the kitchen. They’re chic, hardwood floor apartment rooms. Though the paint scratches easily on the wall. My kitchen was on the small side, especially with a lack of counter space and no silverware drawer. But this is fixable with a kitchen cart on wheels. The lighting and TV are excellent, and the view from my balcony was nice. The best part is proximity to the campus. It made getting back and forth to CCM so quick, it only takes 5-7 minutes to walk. You can’t complain about the lack of amenities, like the gym with every piece of equipment you need, or the 2 practice rooms. As much as I want to rate The Deacon 4 stars, the terrible opening combined with Trinitas cutting corners on safety brings this review down to 3 stars. For anyone experiencing firealarms and poor security, I would directly email Trinitas at [email protected].

This place is a complete nightmare. For starters, 3 floors of this apartment building flooded this past weekend and my specific unit was affected pretty heavily by water damage. I have been living in a mess for the past week, waiting to be told about any work that will need to be done on the unit and I have heard absolutely nothing from the deacon staff. We were never directly contacted by anyone about the cause of the flood. They never asked about damages to our property. They never offered to move us to another unit while ours is being worked on. I havent even seen or talked to a member of this so called management team. Ive received more helpful information from the random cleaning team than I have from the people who I pay to live here. This is just one example of the many, many problems Ive had with this building in the two years Ive lived here. The management team here is practically non-existent and doesnt seem to care at all about their residents or their well-being. Word of advice: save your money and dont bother signing a lease here.

I currently live at the deacon, and my roommates and I all agree: we dont understand why people give so much hate towards the deacon. Its not bad at all, it is way nicer than any other accommodation you are going to get. It is pricey, but for what you get its quite nice. Fire alarms were a bit of an issue the first semester, but they seem to have fixed them. Maintenance is pretty good and responsive. Noise on the weekends is common, but not surprising, its student living.

Not a great experience. There are a lot of issues with the building; fire alarms go off all the time, appliances barely work, the rooms are unfinished, etc. The management has done some questionable things too. They scheduled a room check and said they would arrive anywhere between 9:00am -5:00pm but they came into our unit and bedrooms before 9:00am while we were sleeping and undressed, which was highly inappropriate. They also locked my roommates bedroom doors without consent and caused her to be late to work. I would recommend looking into other housing options as this one is way over priced for the quality.

Words cannot describe how absolutely frustrating these past few days have been. To preface, we signed our lease in DECEMBER for a three bedroom apartment at the Deacon. We were assigned to apartment number 1033 but two weeks before we moved in we were notified that we had been moved to 633. We didn’t think much of it. When we arrived and started moving things in we were surprised at how it looked but we didn’t take much time to actually look around since it was such a chaotic day. Then, we noticed nails coming out of the ceiling, weird stains, writing on the walls and on the plumbing pipes, random holes in the bathroom ceiling, DUCT TAPE around the duct pipes. We tried to talk to someone this morning and were told that management wasn’t on site and that they had no idea when they would be back. They said they’d call me but they never did. Finally, I got my mom involved and she was met with very unhelpful management that claimed the unifinished apartment was the “urban aesthetic”. My boyfriend has lived in this apartment complex for a year and I have toured and seen other units and NONE of them have a completely unfinished ceiling. We were sold a unit that is unlivable and we were not even shown what the unit would look like. Management came to look at our unit today and told us that only two other units in this complex (that has probably 100 units) has ceilings like this. She also told us that it’s normal to have nails coming out of your ceiling and writing on the walls. Then I told her that we think someone was going to move into this unit early and saw it unacceptable so they moved them to our original unit 1033. When I brought this up she said nothing but told my mom that we were always in 633. I have an email from when I paid the first months rent BEFORE we moved in that we were in 1033. In writing. The Deacon is a nightmarish place to live and I cannot believe I looked forward to living here all summer, drove 11 hours by myself to get here only to find our apartment to look like a legitimate dungeon. We pay the same absurd amount to live here as everyone else so why do we have this unit??? Our only options are to stay in this apartment with NO reduction in rent or to move in with a fourth roommate which is not ideal. This place obviously doesn’t care about its residents, just the money. This should not be ok to do to anyone, especially 3 out of state kids who are musicians needing to record in their apartment everyday. Management never apologized and is doing everything to make this the most stressful and terrible experience ever. Share this so people don’t live at the Deacon.

Imagine being paying over $800 just for some strangers to come into your residency and rob multiple students of their electronics and games. With all the money that The Deacon seemingly loves to shower on its residents, its truly a shame that they arent willing to help those who expected a safe living space. Living in a nice place means nothing if the management behind it is trash. If I were a parent, I would think twice about paying that much money and letting my child stay here.

Despite the setbacks of COVID-19 the Deacon has managed to create COVID safe events for residents to actively take part of! Plus, what’s not to love about the amenities they provide? I go to the gym all the time and it’s so nice to have! On top of that, management is always on top of issues I have (if any) and the entire staff is warm hearted and welcoming. DO NOT LIVE HERE!! I can’t even name everything wrong with The Deacon. Their management is incredibly rude, the building is unfinished, there have been multiple break ins, fire alarms that go on for nearly 20 minutes, and many more things. You have to pay a cleaning fee of $250 and they don’t let you see your room before you move in and promise that it will be in “like-new” condition but when I got to my room there was stuff all over the walls, the floors and bathroom were not clean, and the door was broken. I tried to request a different room but they told me I had to pay ANOTHER $250 to clean it when they didn’t clean my other room in the first place. A large portion of the cost for The Deacon is because of the amenities and they aren’t even accessible right now. And they won’t deduct any off your rent because those are closed. I swear any positive reviews on here are either from paid people or people who work there that are obligated to leave a good review. Their response to negative reviews is an automated generic response telling you to contact them but there is no point because the management is terrible. They are insanely rude and not helpful at all. Please save your money! It is not worth the outrageously expensive cost!!

Believe me when I say that I’d give this place a 0 if I could. I’m a manager and I’ve been in customer service roles for 7 years, not to mention I went away for Navy Bootcamp, and I’ve never experienced such a poor excuse for respect, dignity, or common decency in my life. If you like being treated poorly and having all your concerns swept under the rug; this is the place for you! This building experienced a flood the floor above me on March 13th and my apartment was damaged because of it. Some of my property was also damaged during this. I was never contacted by the property manager until my boyfriend’s dad had to request a video meeting to discuss the flood and attempt to discuss ending our lease early and cutting our losses. The property manager denied the damage to our apartment was as bad as we had been told it was, refused to cut our rent back for a month, refused to send someone to investigate our fire alarms (which didn’t work during an actual emergency), and simply advised us not to touch our light switch that had WATER coming out of it just days prior. She couldn’t have seemed less interested in what we were dealing with and acted as if our concerns and complaints weren’t justified. It’s like the people here are professionally trained to gaslight you. I work full time and my boyfriend is in college full time and we pay $1600 a month to live here and not even enjoy our time at home peacefully. I understand emergencies happen, but there is a right and a wrong way to handle them, and this place completely failed. The only plus side is the maintenance staff who is completely amazing. The property manager will take credit for all of their hard work though, so don’t bother telling her that they are the only good thing. Not to mention, this building is basically brand new. Who knows what else might be defective? Don’t worry though, management will never contact the whole property to let everyone know what happened. Instead, they’ll email you about how “spring break is never cancelled here at the Deacon,” and that’s because you can swim in my bathroom.I wrote a very long, detailed review of the events that unfolded her about a week ago, but it doesn’t meet the character limit, so I’ll attach the screenshots with screenshots from the videos I took of the flood, feel free to read it and see the whole experience in detail.I have never experienced such a lack of empathy and consideration, especially at this level and given this landlord/tenant relationship. Please, DO NOT send your college students to live at The Deacon under ANY circumstances. This place DOES NOT care about its residents and is ONLY interested in the money it has coming in. It will clearly do whatever it takes to secure those funds.

Also were charged a $250 redecoration fee upon moving in and somehow was charged $350 once I moved out because we had scuffs on our walls that would have been fixed by one coat of paint. Also the countless break ins made you feel very safe and the fire alarms that went off at 3 am helped you get a great nights rest. The security here is just terrible one of the least safe places I have ever been in. Robberies seem to be common here due to the lack of security and cameras that do not work. While marketed and priced as a luxury living space, the Deacon falls short in many areas.First, the quality of the building. Even though at the time of this review, the building was less than a year old, my unit and others my contacts have stayed in have encountered issues so soon into the first year. For example the roof has already flooded multiple rooms, and appliances and lights have needed repairs. One good thing was that maintenance services arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Many areas of the building remained under construction throughout the year including the study rooms and amenities, and many bedrooms were not even fully finished with missing ceiling fans and lighting. This did eventually get fixed, but it is unacceptable to have these conditions for such a long period of time in a unit that costs a premium. One of the biggest selling points of the Deacon are the amenities. However, most of the time, residents dont get the opportunity to fully utilize them because the majority of them are closed when the main office is closed. The fully furnished, modern living spaces are definitely a pro, however the bedroom chairs and desks are very flimsy and cheap and dont match the rest of the place. In addition, every bedroom is laid out differently, some having much more space than others and some having extremely awkward layouts where doors block other doors. The paid parking garage is a nice option, but its very expensive and the electronic entry gates were not operational sometimes which was a pain.As mentioned in other reviews, the fire alarms tend to get set off for no reason. Even in your own bedroom with nothing going on. Management claimed to be dealing with it, but it continued to happen even after.Theft became a problem for a short time, but that seemed to be resolved by implementing the locked doors at the entrance with keycard access and residents actually keeping their rooms locked. That shouldnt be much of an issue anymore. One of the worst parts of the Deacon is the utility system. They use a third party service to pay your bills for you. This service charges a service fee for every transaction and you have no ability to pay the bill through any other means. They also charge you an estimated bill at the end of your lease so that they can close your account when you move out instead of when the bill comes in. This bill was insanely high compared to my usual usage and its highly unethical to charge me for something I maybe would use in the future, in addition to double charging for the service fees.Overall, for how much of a premium you have to pay to live at the Deacon, youre better off going to the Verge or USquare or Clifton Heights.

The Deacon is overall, very nice. I feel like they put more effort into the spaces that were public instead of the apartments themselves. Our dishwasher hasn’t been working for a week now and no one has come by to fix it yet. We have had freezing cold water again since yesterday and maintenance said they would be here today to fix it but they never showed up so we have to take freezing cold showers again.. I am very frustrated because everything is apparently brand new but they should not be breaking down the moment you use them. We pay a lot of money to stay here and for all of these things to go wrong and take a long time to get fixed, it’s frustrating. I also feel like it is very disorganized and there is a big lack of communication. They had two separate numbers for the emergency maintenance listed, one on a sheet given when we moved in and a different one on the resident portal.. I really hope you guys step it up.Update (9/17/19):The dishwasher started leaking and the oven/stove doesn’t work again. The appliances are not very good.

The common areas are well designed and fun to be in. Anytime I have to leave to go somewhere, I don’t want to because it’s a very enjoyable experience. Of course things were hectic at first during move in but it’s because The Deacon is new and there are going to be kinks. The staff is amazing and so nice. They literally answer anything I have for them and they are quick to get things done. I’ve lived in multiple apartment complexes in Clifton and this by far is the best experience. Very excited to live here for a few years! #LiveTheDeacon

Personally I feel like I have been pretty lenient with the Deacon and all of the mishaps that have occurred during and since move in. I considered not even writing a review. However, the 3 most recent reviews are by all means FRAUDULENT and show how the Deacon only cares about you until you sign your lease. The 3rd most recent is written by a literal employee here, the second most recent is her roommate, and I can only assume the most recent is either an employee or was some how paid off (they’re good at that) considering she followed the same script the other two did. If you are sincerely interested in learning about what the experience at the Deacon is really like, consider reading the other reviews or asking students you know at UC. NOT HONEST OR TRANSPARENT WITH THEIR TENANTS AT ALL!

Fire alarms constantly go off sometimes for 30+ mins. The doors are either completely unlocked or completely locked (to where you cant get in with a key) so there have been many robberies. You cant pick up your packages until the front desk processes them which has taken up to 3 days for me. The study rooms are not sound proofed AT ALL. But hey they have a pool I guess.

Seriously, what a train wreck. Fire alarms are constantly going off, sometimes in the middle of the night, and the staff has taken very little accountability for this, instead blaming this (and often, these are alarms going off throughout the building, not just in units) on residents. Fire alarms are also almost constantly going off in the garage. The front door has been broken on and off for months now so that sometimes residents can’t use the front door to get into their home and instead have to go in through the garage. A lot of the construction outside of the clubhouse (what they mainly love to show off in their photos and promotions) is sloppy since they threw the building up ridiculously fast (during move in, construction was still going on). During the holiday season when the front desk was closed, packages (which are supposed to be checked so that residents can pick them up from the front desk) were left out in the mail room so that anytime could steal one if they wanted to. So add MAIL FRAUD to the never ending list of ways the Deacon has been screwing its residents over while pampering prospective signers. They also took no accountability for this mistake, choosing instead to blame mail carriers for leaving packages, which is definitely true in part. However, the best solution would have been to leave a note for mail carriers so that they wouldn’t drop packages when the front desk was closed. This happened on at least 2 occasions so they had time to come up with a solution had they wanted to. Water unexpectedly shut off today with no warning—so no water in any of the units, including showers and toilets...meanwhile, one staff member is on the phone about a lease, and the other is trying to close with two prospective residents and the only maintenance worker I saw was putting up signs. Emails went out to every resident last week saying “you have a vacancy in your apartment and we are going to come inspect the unit” and then were immediately followed with a “disregard the previous email” message. These people do not have it together at all. Clueless staff, horrible management, and no accountability or compensation for mistakes. You would be better off living anywhere else. If I could give zero stars I would.

Fortunately, I have not seemed to have had as bad of an experience as some of the reviews on here. However, I do have my fair share of complaints. Two words: FIRE ALARMS. There is nothing worse than at 2 a.m the Monday morning of finals to be awoken by the lovely sound of the building fire alarm going off for what seems like the 100th time this year. At this point, Im convinced if it ever was a real fire, we will all die because no one will leave their apartment. On my day of move-in the fire alarm in my room was faulty and I was luckily able to get it fixed and installed correctly. However, there are apparently still rooms that go off for no reason to this day. On the fire alarm incident from last night (where it went off at 2 a.m then again at 9 a.m) we were sent an email stating how a resident pulled the alarm??? Which I find hard to believe as there is a mutual hatred for the fire alarms throughout the entire building so I do not see someone voluntarily pulling it. I feel it is just them trying to cover up the fact they were not installed correctly. My roommate upon move-in had a leaking ceiling that stained her comforter a gross orange color and it took threatening to go to the news to report the issues for them to finally come take it seriously as they focus so much on their social appeal. She also had no ceiling fan installed and just a single hanging light. The floor below us apparently had their ceiling light leaking due to our dishwasher that was installed incorrectly (or had a missing part, something like that). The girls came up and told us about it so we were aware of the issue but the maintenance guy that came was very creepy. He hid to the side of the door (out of view from the peep-hole) and when we finally opened the door to see if he was gone he barged right in without saying anything. Luckily, we knew about the situation because the girls came and told us but if we didnt then it would have been very scary for four girls to just have a random man barge in at midnight. The it took them 3 weeks to finally fix our dishwasher.THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN. I have the absolute JOY of sharing a wall with the trash chute. Every Sunday morning like clockwork I get woken up with glass bottles falling down it. As Im trying to study, as Im doing homework, the trash chute always makes its entrance. You can hear people running in the hallways outside the apartment from inside your room. You can hear conversations from your other roommates rooms even with all of the doors closed. Parties a floor below you are heard loud and clearLocation of some of the apartments is terrible. You apparently have to pay extra next year to have the balcony that faces inward. However, if you look out the window to one of the elevator rooms, there are balconies that look directly at a wall. What is the point of paying extra when your view is a wall? My room is located in a corner, I have one window and it looks into other rooms so I do not feel comfortable having it open, making it virtually useless. It feels ridiculous to pay this amount of money for a view into other apartments.Cell service is a nightmare. My family lives hours away from me and calls cut out every five minutes. If my head isnt basically touching the window, I have no service. This isnt an issue of the cell service provider, its a building issue. Going out front doesnt even work. You to walk away from the building to regain service. When they first installed the gate on the car garage, everyone had issues. It wouldnt let people in or out without our car being in a specific spot. I had to fully back up once and have someone else open the gate as my tag wouldnt work. This isnt but a building issue but just a forewarning: people also SUCK at driving in the parking garage, I have almost been hit five times and most of the time its because people dont realize its a one-way parking garage and end up going down the wrong way, almost hitting you.On the bright side, the staff that works in the front has been nice and helpful. Thats about it, though.

DO NOT MOVE TO THE DEACON! This apartment is very misleading. If I could put zero stars I would! 1. before I moved in I had to pay first months rent in which when I came to pick up my keys at the end of August (the deacon was not ready in which they bribed us with gifts for the inconvenience) they gave me keys to a room that was not mine. when I asked why no one could tell me until I spoke with the head of the deacon, and he stated my room was not finished yet! I did not get the keys to my actual apartment until the last day of the month in which the apartment I was staying in was cheaper than my actual apartment and I did not get reimbursed. 2. when I moved into my actual apartment it was still incomplete, missing a washer, dish washer, and ceiling. 3. the rooms are extremely small and nothing like the photos. 4. my mentees who stay at the deacon also did not have hot water for a week 5. my close friend who also lives at the deacon had mold in her kitchen and missing smoke detectors for at least a week. 6. you have to pay an electric bill that is split between the rooms, when you pay the bill the first time there is a $15 starter fee, and after that you have to pay the bill plus $5 extra for a processing fee. there is not a way around this! 7. My bill alone has been anywhere from $40-$60 and only one of the vents in my apartment work! I am just now being told that there is something wrong with my thermostat, 4 months later. 8. they advertised that parking is included but it is not! parking is an extra $80 a month. 9. the staff never know what is going on. 10. if you are someone who orders a lot of things online, you are not able to get your things as soon as it is delivered, you must wait until the deacon staff process your items and then show an id that you are you to pick up your items.. 11. I have been having serious roommate issues, being threatened, and harassed and the leasing manager not doing anything, but telling me to move out of the apartment I moved into first and pay an extra transfer fee! 12. the fire alarms are ALWAYS going off at all times of the day and are extremely loud. they are inside the apartment and in the halls, t has been said that they know that they are not functioning properly and yet nothing has been done. 13. there have been several leaks within the building causing the floors to flood. 14. the security officers are useless, and super unprofessional being loud on the phones, sleeping on the job, having friends over with them. 15. local people come in the building everyday and sit in the computer room harassing residence as if they live here. I can go on and on about how awful this place is, just save yourself the trouble because the deacon isnt worth it! I most definitely will NOT be renewing any lease here.At this point I think that we should all come together with all of these unresolved problems and create a lawsuit against the Deacon!

I have lived at the Deacon for more than 6 months now and I have absolutely loved it. Everyone working at the front desk is always very pleasant and helpful. Although there can be issues with the fire alarms, I know it is not the staffs fault but the residents and those walking by who pull them when there is not an emergency. Also, I am very impressed with the efficiency of the maintenance staff. Anytime there is an issue (which is rare) it is fixed within 48 hours. The amenities & events are honestly what caught my attention about the Deacon. The events always have food or giveaways and there are so many amenities, that if there was a grocery store, I’d never have to leave [pool, 3 fitness areas, grills, tanning beds, hammock area, arcade, movie theatre, business area, etc]. I resigned my lease the second came out bc I want to spend the rest of my time at UC living at the Deacon.

I would not live here again. It has been such a frustrating experience. My car has been keyed in the supposedly “secure” garage and the cameras just happened to be conveniently disconnected so nothing was done. The fire alarms are a HUGE issue. The management admitted to me in person that there was a problem with them and they were not installed correctly. One night they went off for 11 hours and nobody came to do anything. Now, the whole Building is having problems with the alarms in the middle of the night and the fire department has to come and evacuate the whole place. The biggest issue seems to be that they let UC stick freshmen in some of the apartments and they have been rude and disrespectful to the property. The whole place smells like weed 100% of the time and the noise level is unacceptable. Two weeks ago our ceiling was leaking water from the apartment above us from their dishwasher. The amenities are nice but it’s way overpriced and it’s only getting way more expensive next year. Save your time and money and live somewhere else.

I’ve had 3 friends have their places or cars robbed and Managment told them each time that the cameras were malfunctioning and there is nothing they can do. They charge random fees without telling you. I have honestly considered moving out right now and finding a new place to live. My car was broken in to and the manager did absolutely nothing for me and even made me call the police myself. Nothing works and all maintenance will tell you is “I think it’s broken” and will never get back to you to replace it. DO NOT LIVE HERE IT IS NOT WORTH IT. If you only wanna love here for the pool then just live somewhere else and walk to the deacon and use the pool because everything is always unlocked. Looking for a place for your college student to live where they will feel safe and secure? You won’t find it here. No security cameras inside, the ones in the parking garage conveniently never work. Their top-of-the-line security they bragged so much about can be found watching YouTube videos at the front desk or sleeping... or just can’t be found at all. There’s a break in every day, no exaggeration. They don’t keep their residents informed of anything that’s happening on the premises if it’s a matter of personal safety, just a puny email reminding everyone to use common sense and lock their belongings up. But hey, there’s “free” food every once in awhile and a pool so you should definitely pay $1000+ a month to live here! The security, or lack thereof, is just up and coming on a long list of screwups the Deacon has yet to fix.

The Deacon absolutely was not move in ready for these students paying an exorbitant amount of money per person to live there.Having been in the facility a number of times since tenant move-in, it’s clear the construction schedule fell behind drastically affecting interior finishes and mechanics. From a safety liability standpoint, this is a massive fail on property & construction managements part.Reviews stating concerns and issues are spot on. Reviews prior to The Deacon’s opening – the result of hype incentives to generate social media attention and increase leasing opportunity goals. There is absolutely no streamlined process for reporting issues and the execution of issues being addressed in any sort of timely manner. If there are processes in place for personnel to properly intake the sheer volume of issues tenants are having, it does not translate in a proactive communicative manner to current tenants experiencing building related problems.Responses are slow to non-existent in a number of cases (by phone, by email, or otherwise). Instructions to “stop by the leasing office” are misleading considering who has time to swing into the leasing office during hours of operation while attending classes all day?Phone #’s publicized should be operational and have a designated operator or operators taking phone calls and responding to messages left (good luck with that). A message left should generate a returned phone call or text acknowledging receipt of maintenance concerns reported and an estimated time frame in which the maintenance issue will be addressed, the same goes for an email. In terms of a supposedly experienced property management service provider; there is an obvious lack of preparedness and training for the overwhelmed leasing/maintenance personnel leading back to the management company’s lack of placing importance on this aspect. While it’s understandable that it takes time to “work out kinks”, it’s alarming that the push for opening may have taken precedence over proper construction completion processes directly compromising tenant living quarters and safety. This is concerning on a multitude of levels.

The Deacon seemed very rushed and incomplete at move in though maintenance has fixed most of the problems we’ve encountered. The clubhouse is really nice and the amenities (when working) are great. Our apartment is very large with tons of windows. The free food is also a bonus.CONS:The building itself is very nice, but the “industrial” look in every space seems cheap. The fire alarms have been a problem since August. The alarm in my bedroom had to be replaced 4 times because it kept going off randomly and on my third replacement the maintenance guy told me to put away my candle next time. The study room on the 10th floor is incredibly loud for some reason. The Ethernet ports weren’t wired properly upon move in. The cable TV works about 50% of the time. The parking garage gate takes forever to read the parking tags. None of the windows in the apartment can be opened. With rent, the parking fee, and an electric bill (with unnecessary service fees), I’m paying nearly 1k a month and it is not worth it. I hear prices are actually going up next year (how?).

Ive been moved into this apartment for nearly a week and its becoming more and more clear that this place was slapped together as quickly as possible and not ready for move-in. I thought the grime on my bathroom door was a pattern since the whole place has an industrial feel, but as it turns out it was just coated in a thick layer of DIRT. In fact, everything in the apartment was covered in what I can only assume was construction dust and had to be wiped down thoroughly before it was even inhabitable. On top of that, Ive been trying to reach out to a manager every day since move in with concerns (my bedroom did not include a desk or table as was advertised, and one of my roommates matched roommates is allergic to my pet- something that should have been addressed LONG ago considering I had to pay a fee upfront to have him with me) and havent received any returned communication. I might have been willing to forgive this if rent didnt cost an arm and a leg– but with how much Im paying to live here, Im beyond frustrated.

As someone who has lived in terrible Clifton houses all of college, when I found out the Deacon was being built, the outrageous pricing did not hold me back from finally wanting to live in a nice place with amenities. While my personal apartment has not had any issues while living here, the overall facility is terribly run. The front desk staff is very nice but it is the property management department that I think many residents have an issue with. The fire alarms in this building are out of control. They will randomly go off for over 20 minutes at a time, mostly at night which is annoying and honestly unsafe at this point. I never leave my apartment when they go off because I just assume that its just because the issue has not been resolved yet. I think a lot of people are in the same boat as me. At this point, if there was an actual fire, a lot of people would get hurt. Many people have complained about this issue and 5 months into our lease, the issue still isnt fixed. The security guards are useless. During winter break, the front doors were not unlocking at night with the key fob. So, many times I would tap on the window to get the guards attention, show them my key fob proving that I am a resident and they would just look at me and tell me to go to the side door. It is winter and dark out, I should be able to use to the front door of my building and not resort to using the side door.In November, my car was broken into in their secure parking garage that I pay 80 dollars a month to park in. Managements only response was to file a report with the police. They did not offer any incentives or anything for the inconvenience and took weeks to get back to me, when in my opinion this was an urgent issue. They told me that they would look at the cameras, but never got back to me, even when I sent a couple follow ups via e-mail.Like mentioned before, I do love my personal apartment and would pick living here over the other Clifton houses I have lived in in the past. However, do not expect much from management. I do not think they were prepared to take on this responsibility.

First of all. Take a look at all the 5 star reviews. They’re all from before this scam of a building opened. Earlier this week my washer broke. After calling maintenance out they told me that it would take around 2 weeks for us to get a new one. I went to the front desk to try and figure out how me and my 3 roommates will wash our clothes. They did not have any solutions. For $1,100 a month this place is a joke. Just about everything in our apartment has not worked properly. Management here is a flat out joke. My roommates mother was called and told that she did not pay the bill and told her that they would be evicting her son this week. Upon further investigation it turned out that the deacon had actually sent back the payment to her bank. After all of this the manager did not even apologize instead she decided to slap on a $30 late fee. The workers at the front desk do a tremendous job in helping the residents but besides them everyone else is just terrible. For $1,100 a month you should be able to wash your clothes. We will not be returning next year and I strongly advise others to do the same. There are much nicer and cheaper options than the deacon. I had very high hopes upon coming here that it would be a tremendous experience and it has been nothing close to that. I would recommend to the owners of this building to strongly consider changing management at this facility. They are not friendly and are not helpful at all. The security is also just downright laughable. During the first semester there were 3-4 “security guards” that would put there feet up on the desk and play on their phones all night. Some nights their kids would also be with them and allowed to wonder the building. This building is very unsafe it has over 15 points of entries and doors are left cracked open more than they’re closed. I have heard numerous stories about cars being broken into and the deacon didn’t do a thing for them. They even made the residents call the police.**i also would like to add that the fire alarms go off every single day for hours upon hours. Most weekends they go off the entire night. The owner replied to a review saying it was cause by vaping but everybody knows thag is a flat out lie**

I have been quite irritated with my stay here and refuse to renew my lease. Fire-alarms constantly going off, persistent break-ins, and lack of transparency are among the many issues with this place. When I first moved in, I was unable to use my toilet - at all. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they said that my issue wasn’t an emergency and to use the hallway bathroom. Took nearly two weeks for maintenance to address the situation.Cincinnati tenant law requires landlords to fix issues that render the unit or parts of the unit unusable. The Deacon infringed upon my fundamental tenant rights and that’s unacceptable.I looked at the Deacon’s website and found that they’ve already sold out all their units for the next next school year... Her bedroom window (at the end of an alley at street level) has been broken since move in day. The complex promised to fix it by end of August 2019. Although I have been calling weekly, it is now mid-October and the window is still broken, which would make it very easy for someone to break in. Despite numerous calls, the manager of the complex has steadfastly refused to talk with me and has the student worker who answers phones promise the window will be fixed next week. The Deacon is in a prime location, probably the nicest building on campus with all the amenities, and has really cool events for its residents making it feel like a community. However, with all the negative reviews pertaining to robberies & fire alarms going off every 30 minutes, you would think that instead of replying dont leave your doors popped open, they would install security cameras / lock the front doors at all times of the day & not just after 6 / and fix the fire alarms???? Of course the blame isnt completely on management in regards to robberies - theyre right about locking our doors, but at the same time its their fault that these people are able to get into the building and its their fault that there is no security to stop them / be able to see what happened. Paying 1,000+ a month, you would think they could meet us half way in the middle & install some security cameras. After the buildings been robbed so many times, you would also think they would tell their residents that this is occurring! But because its such a marketing firm, the only email weve gotten is as we know crime happens keeping everyone in the dark. Communication sucks and its because theyre protecting their image. I give them three stars because the buildings designed really cool and of all places to live I still think its one of the best, most community driven places. Def not worth the price though - rent should be around $800 MAX.

Even worse there is still no cell service in most of the building with students being told “use wifi calling.” Things constantly break in the unit with maintenance having come about 6 times in two months to my unit alone. My unit at the Deacon is great (when it is working properly). But the physical space of residence here is where any positive apsect of living at The Deacon stops. The fire alarm is constantly going off, we have had multiple (5+) faulty appliances and were wrongly balmed by the maitnence team for their malfuntion each time. The staff memebrs claim to care for their residents in instagram posts and public media statements, but it seems that once you are locked in to a lease and they have your money, the well-being of residents is disregarded. I have reached out several times in need of help and have been denied, quite rudley, each time. My roomates and I all agree on this negative experience. For the price of rent that I am paying out of pocket to live here as a student, I am very dissapointed with my time here and would not reccomend living here.

This place is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. They are extremely unprofessional, unorganized and inconsiderate of their residents. They will leave the hallways and courtyards dirty for days, they will give you attitude when you come to the front desk, and they will not answer you if you send an email. This apartment seemed like it was also thrown together in 4 minutes. The ceiling are completely unfinished, you can hear every noise through your walls ( they like to keep the courtyard music on full blast even after hours), and there were multiple things in my apartment that were broke. Additionally, they are insolent to their residents. My sister and I both have apartments here and she signed a lease to renew her apartment for the following year. She received an email that even said that she had it renewed then as of this week (less than a month before we have to move) they say “oh yeah you didn’t finish it because we didn’t send you the copy to confirm you we’re renewing”. They never communicated with her that was the case or anything. It is completely unorganized and as a business, when she said she wanted to renew they should have reached out to her and made sure she was comfortable and knew what she needed to do since they knew her intent.Additionally, they overcharge on everything. They use a secondary electricity app which charges you more money for your monthly electricity bill. They require so many fees and you do not get money back for a security deposit. On top of this during quarantine, when all the amenities were closed they did not give us a deduction on any of our rent. We had to pay full price for the month even though we could not use half of the things we were promised when signing. There are so many hidden fees that they do not disclose at the beginning of the lease. This complex has horrible cell phone reception as well. Your calls will be dropped when you walk in the building. I had phone calls for job interviews and I would have to go outside in order to receive them. It is very inconvenient and annoying. They will claim to have WiFi calling as well but it does not work. Half the time the wifi is out in the apartments anyway.Sequentially, the fire alarms go off all the time. I hear at least one a day if not more go off for sometimes multiple hours on end. Once again, you can hear everything through your walls so don’t worry you can hear those too!Lastly, there has been multiple apartments that have been broken in too. The security on this building is of the lowest quality. I have friends who have had random people walk in their apartments all the time. I had one friend have his laptop and Xbox stolen. Not to mention the gate on the garage is the worst setup I have ever encountered. It takes sometimes 5 minutes to get the gate to open for you on the way in and on the way out. It was the stupidest designed device they could have ever installed. Again, this was probably to cut corners when building this horrible piece of infrastructure.Hope this help bring light to the terrible place that is called the deacon!

My girlfriend pays $1200/month for a single and maintenance hasn’t fixed her washer, dishwasher or stove which have all been broken for about two months. Hope nothing ever breaks because you’ll never be able to get it fixed. P.s. everything breaks

Painting and construction still isnt done, the fire alarms always go off, the elevators always break, and the carpets are disgusting and all random. the community and amenities are nice though. The price needs to lower as its 900+ per person.

One day at the deacon summed up(long review) This all happened in ONE DAY (except for this past week when my door handles have been messed with) Earlier I went to one of the study areas on the floors, opened the door and a homeless person was there. He got up walked towards me and I swear I’ve never been so shocked in my life. That was the last thing I expected to see at the deacon. I immediately told the front desk, there was no security to be found so the front desk dealt with it immediately. Turns out someone happened to let him in yesterday. If I wouldn’t have found him he could’ve been there for weeks. Who knows what people can get in and out without being noticed and how long they’ve been here? There are 0 security cameras in the hallways so how could anyone know he was there? Luckily he was very calm and not aggressive. I know there are cameras by the entrances and they have new rules about letting people in, but if people can get in and out without anyone monitoring what is happening in the hallways, what difference does it make having these new rules? Just concerned about no cameras in the very long hallways. Also, last night I was stopped by security and was told I had to wait to go into the building, I showed him my keys and they said I was good to go in, the person next to me didn’t have their keys, couldn’t get in so they walked out and went around to the parking garage and walked in with someone else. Was he a resident? No clue. But did security checking residency keep him from getting in? No. I appreciate them trying to make it more safe but as of now it’s not working as well as it should. All this week someone has been walking by messing with my front door handle and has happened to a friend on a completely different floor as well. No clue if it’s someone trying to be funny or what. Would like to know but unfortunately can’t because no cameras. Lastly my fire alarm has been going off every single time the front door or any door is shut in my apartment. I told the front desk and they called maintenance who is not here on the weekends but was called in since it was labeled as an emergency. I waited 2 hours in the lobby bc I couldn’t take the noise and I was worried about my pets ears. I decided to go back and the alarm was off, and as soon as I got in my apartment it went off again, stopped after 10 mins, and went on again. I told front desk and they put in another request. I waited again and went back down and it did the same thing. The alarm was off every time I came back so I am hoping maintenance came? I never got a notification saying my maintenance request was completed so who knows if maintenance came at all. I’m leaving my apartment until Monday bc who wants to stay in a place where ear piercing sound goes off every 20 mins. Scary that my alarm seems faulty or something and that it probably won’t be fixed until Monday. I feel bad the deacon is getting so much hate right now and I know they’re working hard to fix problems but it seems like they aren’t working as hard as they should with as many problems it is having. Disappointed but won’t give it 1 star because of how well the front desk addresses these kinds of problems when they aren’t even the ones in charge of the entire complex.
