Overpriced gym, toxic environment, creepy coaches, terrible management.The owner, Perry, who is dishonest and will scam you, will lock you into a contract and continue to charge you after you attempt to cancel. This gym is overpriced for the low availability of classes, which are inconsistent, randomly cancelled, and poorly taught. The coaches are predators, do not go here if you are a woman and certainly do not take your children here.Do not believe the positive reviews, as many are written by employees of the gym. This gym is not a family and not a community, the owner values profit over individuals.

Great place! I used to do the ANW classes. They were awesome! It was great and all, until they turned it into a daycare. To many little kids now 😕

One of the biggest challenges for me when it comes to working out is not getting bored with the program. This place keeps it exciting and changes up the workouts all the time so it’s always fun and different, all while giving you one heck of a workout. Would most definitely recommend Tech MMA & Fitness Academy.

Great place! There are classes for every age group. Myself, I enjoy (aka get pushed to work harder, my hardest) in the combat fitness class. The recent addition of a womens jujitsu class has been a great time of supporting and encouraging each other while we learn and get stronger.

The after school program here has been more than I could have hoped.The owners, instructors, and staff are awesome for the ninja, taekwondo, kickboxing and time in between.Great place and strong community feel. Best decision we’ve made regarding our son in this area.

This is more than just a gym, it’s a family. You will definitely get pushed in any work out you do there. Great environment with friendly and encouraging instructors. My daughter has been doing Taekwondo since she was 4 years old. She loves it and has learned respect and discipline along with martial arts. Everyone is welcoming to new members and make it goal to help out. This is the best place to get in shape and learn new disciplines. Very knowledgeable and top rate instructors and owner!

I have been at Tech MMA and Fitness Academy for about a year and a half. It has become a very positive part of my life. The instructors provide a comfortable, yet challenging learning environment, and are very encouraging and approachable for beginners and those less confident in their abilities. The fitness routines are diverse and unique to building skills necessary for mixed martial arts. The MMA classes are challenging, but catered to all skill levels. I have had a lot of fun during my time here and have met some wonderful people! I am also grateful to work with the instructors and the friends I have made to pursue my wellness and MMA goals.

I highly recommend this gym for many reasons! You can not get this type of workout anywhere else in the NRV. Also the after school program is phenomenal. Where else can your kids go after school that they can get after school care, take classes and have so much FUN?!?!?

Best after school program in the area ! Allison and Perry have created a one of a kind program keepingKids active, building confidence, and having fun . Truly a better fit for the elementary student instead of the traditional daycare facilities or adventure club where the kids are stuck in a cafeteria all afternoon.

I have been going to class for about 4 years now, and cant say enough about these guys. My skills have grown so much, and the teachers are amazing. When I first started, they made me feel welcome and normal. As I entered my first jui jitsu tournament, they made me feel competent and prepared. When I started kickboxing, I was frustrated and hard on myself. They helped me break down punches, combinations and gave me to courage to keep going. It is a privilege to be part of this family. If you are looking for something new, fun, and friendly, give it a try. You wont regret it

Our family has been training here for years. The staff is top shelf and can work with people of all skill sets. First we started off with the Combat Fitness classes that incorporates heavy bags, plyometrics, kettle bells, jump ropes and body weight exercises and then over the years my wife and I have joined the BJJ and krav maga classes. Our daugher has been doing their Little Dragons Taekwondo classes since she was 4 and it has really helped her with her toughness and knowledge of how to catch herself when she falls or gets knocked down playing other sports.Highly recommend Tech MMA for individuals and familys looking into better fitness and self defense!

My husband and I joined Tech MMA 5 months ago. After a bit of an exercise hiatus, we were looking to get back in shape and liked the idea of the kickboxing fitness classes. We were encouraged to try out the BJJ class in our first week there. Being an out-of-shape female in my 30s, with no martial arts background, I was a bit nervous to try BJJ. However, thanks to the awesome instructors and supportive teammates we are now doing both BJJ and Krav Maga several times a week along with the occasional combat fitness class (which is one tough workout!!). If you are looking to get in shape, learn some self-defense or challenge yourself to learn something new, I cannot recommend Tech MMA enough.

I joined Tech MMA 3 years ago and that is a decision I am forever grateful that I made. Not only do I have some of the best coaches around but my teammates are like family. I constantly look forward to the next time I can make it to class. With the martial programs available and the facility like no other around,it is a hands down no brainer to join here. This gym will forever be close to my heart. I spent 3 years as a member primarily attending combat fitness classes and kickboxing classes. When I come back to visit Blacksburg I always try to drop in for a combat fit class. Perry and his staff got me into the best shape of my life, and I had so much fun in the process. Going to evening classes was always the highlight of my day. The people are amazing, the fitness classes vary from day to day so it never gets boring. Tech MMA & Fitness Academy is open and welcoming to all, from beginners to advanced. I learned so much about kickboxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu, and I can only hope that Ill find a comparable gym in my new city.

Recently moved to the Christiansburg area and wanted to join a gym to get in shape. While searching for a gym, we came across Tech MMA and decided to give it a try. My wife and I both started working out in January this year, doing Combat Fitness, best decision we could have made, we are both in best shape we have been in years. We enjoyed it so much that after a couple of weeks we enrolled all three of our children, ages 13, 9 and 6. Kids do Taekwondo & Kickboxing while my wife does combat fitness and I can do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Kickboxing. Its such an advantage to be able to bring the whole family and everyone can do different things at the same time. Perry, both Allisons Tony, Teresa, Gary, Whitney,we love all these guys. If you are looking for a gym, you definitely need to give Tech MMA a try first.

I have been training at Tech MMA for 2.5 years. I first joined this gym because I was interested in learning Krav Maga, and Tech MMA is the only gym in the NRV that offers it.The instructors are all incredibly knowledgeable and skilled martial artists, as well as genuinely kind and caring individuals both on and off the mat. From day one, the people at Tech MMA have always made me feel like part of a family. Beyond Krav Maga, Tech MMA also offers combat fitness, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, MMA, and more! Participating in these programs has continually pushed me to my limits both physically and mentally, and allowed me to achieve fitness goals I never even knew I had. I first put my son in at tech mma to keep him active and teach him more discipline while he was in the off season of wrestling. Meanwhile I was going to a CrossFit gym but was interested to getting back on the mat as I grew up wrestling. So I left my gym and my son and I have both been going here for four months. I love the challenge of jiujitsu and not to mention you burn a ton of calories. But it’s more than a gym it’s more like a family I can’t express enough how great this gym is and how professional Perry and the rest of the coaches are. It’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time. I would highly recommend it

I stumbled across Tech MMA when I had been kicking around the idea of pushing myself with some martial arts and noticed that they had a solid deal for a parent plus a kid. Since then, my son has been going to their Little Dragons class (Tae Kwon Do) and has benefited greatly from the patience and knowledge of his instructor Theresa Blaz. It is not easy to get a goofball six year old to focus, but she somehow makes it happen - at least most of the time!For me, I routinely go to their combat fitness classes and have really appreciated the camaraderie of the people and the varied challenges that Perry Gibson puts us through. I have been doing HIIT, gymnastics and cross fit stuff for years and making these workouts a priority has got me back into some of the best shape of my life (and helped my performances at obstacle course races and hopefully upcoming triathlons and a half marathon).But the by far the biggest revelation for me have been the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. The community (of instructors and participants) is so supportive and welcoming. This is hard stuff - the classes are challenging physically and mentally (in a different way than what I am used to). And Perrys thoughtful instruction is always constructive and actionable. Any athlete should give BJJ a shot at some point in their lives.I leave every session at Tech MMA feeling like I did something hard and maybe made myself a little better. I see the same for my son. He also gets to see a whole bunch of people working hard to do the same who are encouraging and welcoming. The little guy and I are definitely glad we stumbled upon Tech MMA. Thanks guys!

I love this place lots of great Martial arts training

Having been at at Tech MMA for close to two and a half years, the owner and my trainer, Perry Gibson, and other trainers, Allison Haynes and Christian Leonard, know just how much being a member of the Tech MMA family has meant to me. From the time I started there with only 2 days a week of combat fitness to now being there 8 hours a week with combat fitness, Krav Maga and now Jui Jitsu training, I have changed my body, my determination, my skill and my commitment to never giving up. I have learned that I am capable of more than I imagined possible at 46 years of age. I believe the quality of the trainers, with their unceasing support, expertise and strong character, has made Tech MMA not only the best place to train but the only place to train. I am so thankful that my life has been changed by Tech MMA and Fitness Academy. I have met outstanding people whom I would call friends and who I cannot wait to see each day.
