Enjoyed it! It didnt have as many harness climbing stations as my kids wanted, but we had fun for about an hour.

My daughter and I visited here from out of town for a climbing competition and were thoroughly impressed. Both her Youth and my Citizens competitions were very well run. They even screened a climbing movie at the end of the competition, free of charge...and so that people didnt have to run out for dinner between the end of the comp and the beginning of the movie, they ordered pizza for everyone, also free of charge. The facility itself is of medium size for a climbing gym and its efficiently packed with plenty of offerings, including a lead climbing section, top rope, a long bouldering wall as well as a moon-board-like training wall and campus board. Well have warm memories of our day at Crimpers and will most likely return for the competition next year.

Great staff and the owners are very helpful. The gym in my mind is bouldering orientated but provide several top rope routes and have about 4 auto belays.

Took my daughter here on a whim for a last minute birthday night and she had a blast. They had everything for a first time climber and gave detailed instructions on how to safely climb the walls. Miranda at the front desk was wonderful and very informative. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for some fun.

A really cool place to climb. Growing fast!Danielle the owner was so great and super knowledgeable. We came in needing a belay test and hoping for a lead test as well. Danielle wasn’t in but the desk staff at the front was able to contact her and she came in specifically for us! Made my trip!If you’re looking for a local spot to workout and prep for outdoor climbing this is the place!

Best gym Ive ever been to. The owners care deeply about sharing their passion for climbing with others. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind. The community is free of judgement and full of fun people. The climbs are great for anyone interested in checking it out, with climbs for beginners readily available. Recent additions to the bouldering and top-rop walls are prime for training and testing your limits. Love this place!

Crimpers is a great climbers climbing gym, with a variety of routes and climb types to challenge anyone. There is a lot of bouldering (soon to be expanded even further), a decent amount of top roping (also soon to be expanded), and a dedicated lead area, as well. (My personal favorite part!!) There is also a nicely setup training area (also soon to be expanded), and classes are offered in training/fitness, and climbing techniques. The owners (Danielle and John) are both passionate climbers, and this gym is the embodiment of their visions and passions. There is a healthy community surrounding the gym, and everyone from Danielle and John, to the staff, and to the members, are very welcoming, helpful, encouraging, and kind. There are a number of membership options, ranging from day passes to monthly memberships, and prices are very reasonable. The facilities alone are worth it, but when you factor in the community, the classes, etc, its a no-brainer. We are incredibly fortunate to have this true gem in our little corner of the world!

Small but mighty. I came in from out of town and was lucky to find this gym for an evening of climbing. The staff were super friendly, the routes will challenge climbers of all abilities, and the overall atmosphere was very community-oriented. The only downside was the cost: it was much more expensive than larger, better-appointed facilities elsewhere. Despite that, if Im ever back in the area, Ill be back for sure.

Good climbing gym for the area. Has a few auto belay short walls, a few short wall top rope options, and a small lead climbing area that is a bit taller, but is mostly for bouldering. Good setting and problems but boulders are designated by colored tape and not color coding the holds themselves which can be confusing.Overall, a good place to climb in SWVA.

Great place to learn how to climb/get your body into climbing condition. They have an abundance of payment options for memberships and offer courses in Belay and other climbing activities. I go there simply to work out sometime because it is less crowded than many of the other gyms around town.

Hands down my favorite setting in any gym. The staff are friendly, the gym is neat and thoughtfully laid out, the bouldering terrain is tall and offers a diverse array of angles from slab to roof, and the workout area has all the equipment necessary to get strong and prevent injury.Crimp is run by two incredibly kind and generous people and is beloved by the community it fosters.

Fantastic climbing gym with great and friendly staff. Can go for day visits or join as a member (good if you go more than 4-5 times monthly). Harnesses and shoes available for rent. No previous experience is required, as you can learn all you need there.

Only reason it doesn’t get the last star is because of the limited top-rope and sport climbing offering. As a bouldering gym, it does exactly what it sets out to do. The folks are friendly, it’s locally run (yay!) and there’s a community spirit. Kudos for those great falling how to videos — everybody should be doing that!

Just visiting from out of town and wanted to explore another climb gym. I was alone thus climbing vertical walls only on auto belay. I noticed the tracks set on the only 4 auto belays had 5.5 then jumped to 5.10. There was no room for improvement and Im only at a 5.8-5.9 level so it wasnt as fun as I hoped. It seemed to be more of a bouldering gym and I tried it, but the sticker tags were so convoluted that it was hard to find where there the next hold was. Last thing, the place was so hot bc a/c was not great. It was uncomfortably hot to have fun for me.

Super overpriced for the facilities available, but it is SWVA so beggars cant be choosers and the owners know this. Front desk staff is really nice and they run some deals on the weekdays. Definitely more of a bouldering gym than a climbing gym.

The climbing walls are great, especially the bouldering wall, but the day passes are kind if over priced and the staff can be rude.Edit: Im bumping this down to 2 stars from 3 because after I left my review, the owner said something about it to me in person the next time I came in to climb. I should be able to leave a review without the owner saying something to me about it.

The staff are kinda rude,I was simply climbing and the guy working chewed me out just because of my climbing form. Also the big rope wall dont touch it!!!!when I was simply walking next to it the same guy told me if he saw me climbing on it he would kick me out! Im not a rude or unruly climber and try to treat everyone with kindness, but I will be taking my business to more professional establishments.

I climbed at Crimpers for about 5 years before moving out of state for work. I still come back every chance I get. The gym itself is meticulously maintained; the training area is *amazing*; and the routes throughout the gym are thoughtful and plentiful. I was completely new to the sport when I started, and gained valuable knowledge over the years through the advice from and mentorship of the owners, staff, and other members. The sense of community fostered at Crimpers is what kept me coming and climbing hard. They even hold local events, like potlucks (with awesome local food and fun games), as well as participate in larger-scale events, like Walls Are Meant For Climbing and SheSets.

I used to climb at this gym, but stopped when their promotions for the business became political. A gym should not be political or instill feelings of hostility towards a certain social group. A gym should be a common ground for climbing lovers to interact and enjoy their workout without being judged by the owners for their political beliefs.

I have been attending this gym on and off for a couple years now, I like the facility but the staff can be rude at times and I feel a vibe of annoyance towards me and my friends. Keep in mind that I have attended bigger and even more professional climbing gyms and have had awesome experiences, so I dont think its just me.

Not my style, could be yours though they have a decent gym, but their walls are high and mats are hard highest and hardest Ive been too weird combo. I take risky moves and dont feel as comfortable topping out on their walls than other gyms. The routes are set fair, but not what Id call original. Most routes are marked with tape instead of being just set in all the same color hold. Not a huge deal just something Im not for in a mainly bouldering gym. You can not campus without shoes. Normal rule but theyre quick to hop on you about the little stuff, being said if youre huge into safety practices this is for you. Im not more of dirt bag grunge climber that like to take responsibility for myself

Im new to the area and really enjoy rock climbing gyms for working out. I dont climb with any specific goals but strength training. Facility was great for my goals and I got excited. However, staff told me they dont allow climbing with anything but climbing shoes. They told me I can ask the owner. I contacted the owner and he said the same. I use Vibram FiveFingers and have for years at other gyms. I go from the wall to lifting weights and save time and money using my vibrams. I believe, and you can see this in other reviews, that this is a strict and serious climbing gym. Doesnt look like the place for me.
