This was my first time having my roof replaced and received estimates & consultations from 3 different roofing companies which all were great however I went with Southern Star. My cousins also recommended this company. Southern Star replaced their roof a few years ago.Javi with Southern Star was professional in all forms of communication from beginning to the end. When he came out for the consultation and free estimate I was really impressed with the folder packet and samples of the roof material & colors I could select as well as being able to feel the texture. He responded to all my emails, phone calls and text messages. The office staff were great to work with as well. I also received 2 free passes to the White Water Center from Southern Star. That was great!The work crew showed up to my home on the day of roof replacement, set up everything by helping me to move any outdoor furniture, etc out the way (they went over and beyond to do that) and they didnt have to, they covered up what needed to be covered to protect from falling roofing debris and nails. It was a construction site. The guys were great and they cleaned up well after my roof was replaced. Southern Star Roofing did a roof tune up and removed an old dish from the previous owners. Didnt suggest a new roof just a tune up! The cost was very reasonable. All employees were very professional, prompt and courteous! Took pictures during the estimate and also took photos during the repair to show us what was completed. Thoughtful service!

Had a roof leak and they was able to repair it and did great work and were very professional. I also used them on new roof on storage building back in March and did great work as well.

I was very upset when I got home from work and seen my flower bed destroyed. I would like the owner to know that his roofing crew should be more respectful of property that does not belong to them. Trampling on a customers flower bed they enjoy so much on a daily basis is completely unacceptable. I never even noticed the roofing - my heart hit the ground the minute I saw my beautiful flowers were gone. I cannot give a good recommendation for this company because of the inconsiderate people they have working for them. The crew should have scaffolding covering bushes and flower beds before they start roof tear offs. I feel bad for the hummingbirds when they cannot find the flowers. I was offered a Lowes gift card -----thanks but NO THANKS.....

During a major storm, our roof experienced severe damage that resulted in requiring a new roof We chose Southern Star after researching several companies and reading their reviews. Also, their price was very reasonable. Brandon was honest and responsive during the whole process. He didnt attempt to upsell any products as other companies tried. Also, his scheduling team was very easy to work. Were very pleased with the company and would I would highly recommend it!

Hunter was very professional and explained the damages and the claim process in details, he even showed me pictures of the damages on my roof. After a big storm, we had trouble getting a roofing company to come out to take a look at our leaking roof. Southern Star Roofing was able to fit me in within a week when two dozen other companies said two weeks or more — and this was during Thanksgiving week! They are really professional and everyone is so nice and timely. They were on time and their quote seemed fair and the work was done quickly. I would certainly use them again.

I noticed a leak in my attic near the chimney, so I signed up for a free inspection on Southern Stars website and they had a guy (Johnny) come out to my house the very next day.Johnny listened to my explanation of the issues I noticed and tailored his inspection accordingly. After a quick 10-15 minute inspection, Johnny suggested what could be causing the issues, explaining to me in clear terms that I could understand. Instead of replacing my chimney flashing (which is generally the culprit in situations like mine), he told me that it appeared to be in good shape and recommended that I contact a chimney sweep before proceeding with any further roofing work.Johnny also gave me additional information on the overall condition of my roof, explaining some issues he saw, while being careful not to scare me into any immediate action/spending. He said if it was his house, he would not do anything to the roof right now, but would instead plan to replace it in 5-10 years as it is showing signs of wear and tear with its age.Contractors have been in and out since we closed on our fixer upper in December. If only my other experiences would have been this pleasant - I would be a much happier new homeowner.

We have an odd leak issue so they came out to take a look. Jason Earnhardt was the project manager and his associate was Greg. They discovered that it was a siding issue around a window on a dormer. They were very helpful and let me know what I could to resolve the issue myself since they dont do siding or window issues. While they were showing me the issue Greg had already gone to the truck to get some caulking and went ahead and did what they believe will resolve the issue and told me that I could contact a siding company for a more permanent fix if desired. They were very professional and friendly. They charged me absolutely nothing and would not even accept a few bucks for a burger. I highly recommend based on their professionalism and hopefully no more leak.

My experience with Southern Star was second to NO one! The process for having my roof replaced honestly felt like I didnt have to do a thing. December 17, 2016, I had a new roof put on by Southern Star Construction at my Charlotte, NC property. This had to be one of the smoothest transactions that I had ever done with an out of town Construction Company. Southern Star Construction did such a wonderful job above and above the call of duty. Brendon and Brandon are wonderful and professional workers the entire time. I was totally amazed at how much time and effort they put into making sure no pieces of shingles are in in my yard as well. Southern Star Construction personnel was a very professional group of people and I highly recommend them for any client who require home improvement.

We had been fighting several leaks for many months, Southern Star came out and quoted a price to repair and did the work. They did have to come back one time because their guy missed one Small area but that’s no big deal, I had a lot of small repairs.tropical storm sally came thru today and we are nice and dry! We had Southern Star come out to repair our leaking flashing around the chimney on our house in February/March of 2020 after we had a different contractor attempt to repair it twice 6 months prior. The project manager knew exactly what we wanted, gave us a reasonable quote and put every detail in writing which was encouraging after we wasted a lot of money on a word of mouth contract with the previous company. Based on product and their professional presentation, we chose Southern Star Roofing. They worked with our schedule. They did the tear-off and replacement in one day! We have recently worked with Southern Star Roofing & Construction company for our roof replacement as well as other repairs. The company owner Mr. Brandon Johnson was very helpful and professional from the initial evaluation to assist in work with insurance company to schedule the detailed work. On the day of the roof replacement, with materials all pre-ordered and delivered as scheduled, Brandon came personally to inform us about the plan and to make sure the crew was in place to do a great job. The foreman on the job, Gerome is very experienced and provided his crew with all the decisions needed on the spot and ensured the job to be done not just on time but also with high quality. All the crew members are very skillful and well organized on their tasks. Roof replacement was completed from beginning to end on the same day! What an amazing job! When they left, we had a new roof and a clean front and back yard with a little sign of a major construction was done on that day. Southern Star Roofing was fantastic! We called them for a free estimate for our new roof and from the estimate to the clean-up we were impressed. Very responsive, respectful and knowledgeable. Brendan gave came out within a few days of my initial call to schedule an estimate and patiently answered all of my questions and efficiently collected the measurements he needed, the entire appointment took no longer than 30 minutes. The crew came out to install our roof a couple weeks later but could have come sooner if our schedule had allowed. They were respectful and did a fantastic job prepping our yard and house to keep things as clean as possible. It took them a little longer than the estimated day to complete the job but a few members of the crew returned the next day to finish up & did exactly what they needed to before finishing clean-up. We are very tidy and the clean-up impressed us! The magnet they wheel around the house & driveway to collect nails was very impressive and clean-up was very thorough. When she mentioned Southern Star, I recalled a short tv news piece on a good neighbor that put a new roof on a elderly persons house at no charge. In the piece I spotted the name of the company as Southern Star.What makes them so good? They are honest and dependable. The owner and founder of Southern Star, Brandon Johnson, came out himself to give me the estimate. Hes definitely a hands on owner that cares. He promised me he would only charge me the deductible on my home insurance no matter what. He worked with the Insurance company. That took a lot of extra time because of the insurances mix up. (He patiently worked out the problem for me.) The materials he used was of the highest quality available, and he oversaw the entire process - - hands on. The work was done on time, and when he promised.My new roof looks beautiful, the job is done very well, protecting all my perennial plants and lawn, and a very particular clean up. My expectations, were exceeded many times over. Seems like I should pay a higher price for such a quality job, but nope, just the deductible. Wow, Im impressed!

Southern Star roofing is a class act local company. Having a rental portfolio, Im always in need of reliable, responsive, fair priced contractors and repair companies. Brandon was exceptionally responsive, I put an inquiry out at 930PM and the next day at 8AM, he called to discuss the details a bit more....now that is responsive!The quote was fair and the work was done timely, they said it would take 2-days to replace a hail damaged roof and it indeed took 2-days. They said it would take one day to replace the gutters and low and behold the gutter system was put on in one day. They were on time to their proposed timing and the finished product with their knowledge and explanation was spot on. Very happy with this company, specifically Brandon & Alex who I interacted with and would absolutely recommend Southern Star for any roofing issues.

We had some minor roof weather damage and Southern Star Roofing was very responsive in coming out to assess our damage. They provided us with a detailed report, including over 20 photos of our roof. The price was reasonable and they had someone back out to our house within two weeks to do the repair. After having a leak in my roof and receiving an estimate from my insurance company, I had my homework cut out: to find a roofing company that fit within the estimate from my insurance company. I like to do my research, read reviews, and see pictures... so I ended up with two options, reached out to both, and scheduled dates to get estimates done. I must note that Brandon, the owner, reached out to me directly to schedule and that to me is a plus on customer service, he was also the one to meet with me to provide an estimate. The meeting went great, Brandon is super personable, immediately put me at ease, and worked with me on the price (then again I have an awesome insurance company so I was not too worried-- plug to Amica 😉). The meeting went so great that I signed the dotted line, Brandon helped me pick out my shingle colors, which looks SO good on my house, and I was scheduled for installation.... and then called the other company to cancel my appointment. I must add that Brandon was super awesome and managed to squeeze me in for that same week (3 days later) so I could have my roof done before the next heavy rain.Installation day: The crew was at my house before the sun even came out!!! In fact, I was still asleep!!! I received a prep guide on what to do for installation day so I had things prepped the day before and the crew got to work as soon as they arrived. The perimeter of my house was covered with tarps so things wouldnt get damaged (I think only two of my bushes were a squished, but nothing terrible) and in less than 6 hours everything was finished!! And by finished, I mean not only the roof, but all the debris was picked up and you could not even tell that a crew of people had been working on my roof all morning! 🤯 Even my neighbors commented how good of a job they did with the quick installation and making sure they cleaned everything up!!!Overall I am delighted by how easy the experience was and totally recommended Southern Star Roofing & Construction!

We were very pleased with our decision to contract with Southern Star Roofing & Construction to replace our roof. From our very first contact with Southern Star office personnel all the way to the laborers installing the shingles, we recognized the outstanding service we received. The office staff accommodated our busy schedules when setting up our appointment with the sales representative. Our salesman arrived on time as scheduled. He was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He answered the numerous questions we had during the initial contact and responded to subsequent phone call and texts in a prompt manner. He also supplied addresses of homes closest to ours on which our chosen color and style of shingle had been recently installed. Southern Stars scheduler for the roof replacement was consistent in her frequent phone contact with us regarding changes that were necessitated by the three days of extreme weather in the Charlotte area. Southern Star accommodated our schedules despite the initial cancellations due to weather. The crew foreman and installers arrived on time. They were careful and respectful of our property as they worked from tear off to replacement. They left our property in a clean, undamaged condition. They were thorough in their sweep of our entire property for nails and trash. Overall, dealing with Southern Star Roofing & Construction was an excellent experience. We would not hesitate to recommend this company to family, friends and neighbors.

The entire team at Southern Star Roofing was incredibly responsive when we found ourselves with an uninvited family of squirrels who had made their way into our attic through numerous gaps in our roof. They quickly assessed the problem, installed a drip edge around the entire house, patched several large holes around the fascia board and even repaired the seal around our chimney...without me even asking. Jose and his team of roofers were very professional, adept at their trade, hard-working and respectful. They were also kind enough to provide me some great before & after pics so I could see the results of their efforts....since Im well beyond my roof walking days! Long but important post. Initially my experience with Southern Star Roofing wasn’t great. We started off with some gaps in communication but once Brandon, the owner, got wind of the miscommunication he reached out to my wife and I directly. He sat down with us in our home and not only genuinely apologized for the miscommunication but walked us through every step of what his company could do to complete our roof job. Of all the people we interacted with to receive quotes and information Brandon was by far the most kind, knowledgeable, and professional. After this interaction we just had to go with Southern Star! Communication remained top notch from that point on. My wife and I have a small home, however Brandon and his team provided us with excellent white glove treatment. The day of repair could not have gone smoother. The roofers were efficient and took special care to clean our property as if it was their own. Our home looks outstanding! I am very impressed with the services of Southern Star Construction. Earlier this year I was in need of a minor roof repair. We had a leak that only affected one room and a roof that certainly did not need to be completely replaced. I researched roof repair companies online, and reached out to several with no response. My best guess is that they just didn’t think my repair was a big enough job to warrant their time. So finally a neighbor recommended Southern Star. I reached out and heard back from them right away. They scheduled a diagnosis visit, which they showed up promptly for, and gave us a quote I felt was very reasonable. Once I got the work scheduled they came right on time and finished the job beautifully—all within one day. No more leak thank goodness! And I felt the price I paid was very fair. If I ever need another roof repair, I will definitely be calling Southern Star Construction. I have already recommended them to another neighbor and will continue to do so!

I wanted to take the time to write a review for the above and beyond service provided to me by Southern Star Roofing & Construction. Their price was very reasonable given the high quality, attention to detail and great work. I had a small hole in my roof due to some storm damage and I called and spoke to Brandon about the details of the repair. I was nervous that he might not be able to match the style and color of the shingles on my roof. Brandon provided me a sample that was an exact match and we set up a time for the repairs to be made. Brandon called me the night before the start date and let me know his guy would be at my home in the AM. Phil was on time, he was courteous, and he took the time to explain what work would need to be done and how the task would be accomplished. Phil was laid back and answered all of my questions. When the job was completed he cleaned up all of the scraps and nails, leaving my home and yard better than he found it (I was not even home Phil did this on his own). The roof looks amazing and no one will ever be able to see where the damage had been. Even after the job was completed, Brandon stayed in touch. He called me to follow up making sure I was happy with the service and results of Southern Star Roofing & Construction.

These people (Southern Star Construction) went beyond the call of duty to make sure they lived up to their reputation. They gave us more than the competitors were going to give us on a new roof...and with top of the line products. We will use them again and we highly recommend them. Brandon Johnson is a great guy. Excellent experience. Helped me work with the insurance adjuster and followed through on all aspects to replace my large roof. Workers were excellent completed the work with no issues and did a very good clean up. No surprises. All work completed as proposed. The roof looks great and I had a great experience. This is the best roofing company in Charlotte. Brandon is fantastic to work with (he really knows his stuff). His crew was poignant and polite. They finished the house by 1:30 in the afternoon. I can speak highly enough of the level of customer service received and the quality or work done. I would give 6 stars if I could. All this at a very reasonable price.

I would rate Southern Star Construction LLC a 5 star rating because from start to finish they excelled in their delivery of an excellent job on my home roof and gutter installation. When the project manager came out to assess the job, he was professional, knowledgeable about the product, caring and followed through in all that he said. The next employee provided the samples , the next employee came out to match color of the gutter system. When all the decisions were made, the roof installers finished in one day and within a couple of days the gutters were installed. The cleanup and the installation were superb. This company has young employees who communicate so well with one another and with me. They were always in the loop if I had any questions. The price was competitive with other companies. I like the way they took care of all warranty paperwork. The supervisors checked on the job at completion. I would recommend this company to everyone. I saw the owner on television on the news. There was an elderly couple whos roof leaked so bad in the house. They couldnt afford a new roof. Brandon Johnson,the owner, put a new roof on the couples house after seeing their unfortunate situation on the news. He said he tries to help others because God has blessed him and as a result , he wants to help others. I am thankful for a job well done.

Southern Star Roofing and Construction was recommended to me by my neighbor. Their staff is very friendly and prompt, I made an appointment for an estimate and they came out within a week. They left a very professional packet with all their certifications and recommendations, as well as shingle samples. The proposal was emailed to me the next day and was very detailed. They beat out the competition in both price and work done for the price. They came out within a week of signing the proposal and did all the work in a single day. They also did a very good job at cleaning up all the roofing debris and most importantly the nails. And there was no damage to my siding or anything around my house.This was the first time that I have had to deal with buying a new roof and Southern Star made everything easy. I highly recommend their professionalism, promptness, and quality of work. If you are in the Charlotte area and need a new roof I highly recommend you check them out.

I had roof installed in October 2018 after couple mouth roof start leaking, they did not replace new flushing or seal well which caused leaks to come from roof which ruined my drywall and carpet. I called for warranty repair and left massage, yet NO ONE answered the phone. VERY UNSATISFIED

Great communication prior and during the project execution phase. Work was done in a timely and professional manner. Not the cheapest but worth the extra money in my opinion.

In March of 2017 my grandmother was concerned about hail damage to her roof in Denver, NC. There were several roofing companies doing work in the area as a result of that storm. Concerned she would get taken advantage of by those contractors she contacted her agent to recommend a roofer. Her agent recommended southern star and spoke highly of them. She was advised not to file a claim until they looked at the roof due to the “storm chasers” in the area. Southern star came out and looked at her roof and told her it wasn’t damaged and just had some age on it but otherwise was in good shape. Over the summer of 2017 almost all her neighbors got new roofs. A neighbor called both me and my mother in Florida concerned she needed to have her roof looked at. After talking with her and her agent we felt satisfied there was nothing wrong with her roof. Fast forward to January of 2019 and several long term leaks are discovered upstairs after we came to stay with her after a fall. After calling her insurance agent, they once again recommend southern star after trying to convince us to not file a claim. We elected to not use the insurance companies preferred contractor and find one that’s not working for/with them. We had 3 local, well established companies come out. All 3 were shocked no claim was filed in March of 2017. The roof had extensive hail damage, and all 3 said the damage was from a March 2017 storm and should have been replaced then. When we called the agent to file a claim he again tried to push southern star off on us due to the fact “that they didn’t run his loss ratio up like other roofers”. After bypassing the agent and filing the claim directly with the insurance company and having a knock down drag out fight over the last 4 months with the insurance company they’ve finally agreed to pay for all the damages. Every single adjuster who’s been sent out by the insurance company has questioned and made an issue of the fact it took almost 2 years to file a claim. Today the agent calls, most likely because he’s found out it’s an $80,000 claim to try and convince us to go with southern star. I question why the agent keeps pushing this company in particular on my grandmother. Both in an effort to squash a claim and then once it’s been paid for them to do the work.

This is an outstanding company lead by a truly genuine leader. They do what they say, when they said they would, and go above and beyond. They have help me with numerous properties and I have found them to be the most reliable and honest company out there. The owner has also been willing to field numerous phone calls from me when I was just trying to get insight on what friends and family are dealing with when it came to their roofs! Its exciting to watch this company grow and have success by doing things the right way.

Im 100% satisfied with Southern Star Construction. I needed a new roof and had no idea where to go or who to choose. The most important thing, to me, was to find someone I trusted and could talk to. After a month, and some tossing and turning nights, I had talked to 6 different contractors. 5 of them seemed to be talking at me. I felt no confidence or trust. Then, I called Southern Star as advised by a good friend. It took only seconds into the call that I began to feel comfortable like someone was talking to me: listening and answering my concerns. At no time did I feel like I was being sold by some salesman: I found the trust I needed. That night I was able to sleep much better. I seriously recommend Southern Star.

This company was referred to me by an insurance company agent (based on his expertise and effort to do a good roofing job). I hired him to do the roofing job in my house in late 2015. He promptly responded with a quote and upon my approval sent his crew who came in at 7 AM on the day promised and finished the job and cleaned up the debris by 7 PM. I was impressed with the thoroughness of their work. The owner also came during the work in progress and assured me that the work will be to my satisfaction. In the next few days he submitted the claim to my insurance company which they approved and sent me a check. Soon after, I paid the owner for his services. My experience with this roofing company is highly positive and I will gladly rehire him for another job (if needed) or recommend him to my friends.

He was honest and forthright from the get go, answering every question I had and never pressuring me. They fixed my roof in a day & a half and did an outstanding job. When Southern Star was recommended to me by a neighbor I didnt know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. They were quick to respond whether I was calling, emailing, or just sending them a text with a question. I got three estimates and they came in with multiple options for me. They even had manufacturers reps come in to explain their products. They were clear when they presented the estimate. They were prompt in scheduling the installation. The installers were efficient, courteous, and did a great job cleaning up after.We are very happy with our new windows.

Southern star construction was very professional. I had a bunch of quotes and southern star won me by professionalism. The crew came early and had the roof completely done by 3pm with clean up. The only thing that wasn’t 5 stars would have been that they watch the weather for rain, which is respectable. Instead of pushing everyone forward I got sent to the bottom of the list. I did not really care for that. Not enough for me to take away a star though. Everyone was kind and efficient. Thank you Southern star for a breeze transaction and the beautiful new roof!

I had some siding damaged in various places around the house. Southern Star came out and inspected the siding then was able to match it perfectly and replace them all. Cant tell which pieces are the old siding and which are new.

John Combs and the roofers at Southern Star are great! They were very accomdating to ones schedule. John was very helpful in the entire process, being very prompt and available on any questions we had. The roofers were very nice and were glad to answer any questions & concerns I had as well. John was a great person to work with and he definitely seems to have his customers in his best interests.
